Long overdue review for McKay. McKay helped me with my second mortgage about 4-5 months ago. I've been thru this process at least 4 times due to refinancing. Our home buying situation was not typical. We did a short sale, but we did it with a conventional mortgage so that meant a lower APR compared to a construction loan or hard money loan. We were referred to McKay Wilson by our realtor James Park to help us with the financing for our home. I needed someone who could do VA loans, and who knew the loan process inside and out because there were some issues in my application that I thought might be a problem. However, McKay was able to answer all of my questions right on the spot, and made me feel comfortable that I would have no problem qualifying. He also recommended that I apply for the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program, something that I had no idea existed, so I'm happy he told me about that. With the MCC I am able to save thousands of dollars each year on tax deductions! The whole loan process was very simple and very fast. From beginning to end it took about 30 days. It would've been shorter, but the seller had left on a trip so we had to wait until he came back to sign some papers. I don't think the seller realized how fast we would close. In the end, I ended up paying absolutely no closing costs by working with McKay. The credits he was able to get from his lender paid not only for all of my closing costs like the appraisal, title insurance, and escrow fees, but he also was able to push my first payment date out 2 months. My fiancé and I recently closed on a condo in the Honolulu area. We utilized McKay Wilson of C2 Financial Hawaii to help us finance the deal. I've known McKay for a while and knew that he was in the mortgage business. We decided to reach out to McKay who explained the capacity he works in as a broker. He educated us on the mortgage process and showed us a variety of loan programs we could use. This was a huge benefit working with a broker versus a bank that can only provide at most a few loan options. In the beginning stage, the numbers presented to us were all hypothetical just so we could have an idea of what our monthly mortgage payment could be. I work in finance and took it one step further and created my own spreadsheets calculating payments using various interest rates, loan amortization, and break even points (definitely overkill on my part!).
