Mega thanks to the entire McKennon Law Group for bringing our case to a positive settlement for my wife & I. So my story of long term disability starts like many others. The first two years were fairly reasonable. But suddenly, at month 25, everything changed. Suddenly, in the insurer's opinion, I was able to go back to work. Due to confidentiality agreement, I cannot say who the carrier is. I decided to handle the first appeal with the carrier on my own. No surprise, it was rapidly rejected. After dragging my feet for awhile, I contacted Robert McKennon of McKennon Law Group. He responded to my inquiry on line VERY quickly. After working as an aerospace engineer (one company) for over thirty years, I was forced to stop working due to chronic back pain. Not only was I devastated when I lost my 62 yr. old husband to premature death from injuries in an accident, but my stress level went through the roof when my group insurer, MetLife, denied my accidental death claim on the ground that my husband died from his preexisting heart condition and hypertension, and not from his car accident. Reliance Standard Life Insurance LTD ERISA Case My LTD claim with Reliance Standard was denied after having received benefits for years and my appeal was subsequently denied, despite there having been no changes to my health. I have worked for an aerospace firm for over 36 years and in 2013 I was involved in an automobile accident where I was rear ended. I was unable to continue working due to rheumatoid arthritis. I filed a long-term disability claim with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, but the company invoked the ERISA Plan's pre-existing condition provision to deny my claim.
