A month ago the sunroof on the Terrain started pouring water from the right side of the headliner. Opened the sunroof and carefully poured water into each drain to determine what was leaking. The tube is not clogged because water isn't collecting in the basin that feeds the drain. Because I thought I needed to remove the headliner I took it to Fairey and was told I needed a new drain tube that would cost me approximately $1200.00 because they would need to remove the entire dashboard to replace it, but they would happily deduct the diagnosis fee from the bill if I came in for the repair. I paid them their ridiculous diagnosis fee thanked them and walked out. My expectation was a minimum 1 hour charge for the entire repair. The young man behind the desk was extremely professional and used all the right language but had no idea he was talking to someone with 37 years in the automotive repair business. If he could have seen inside my head the anger of "THE BEAST" was hiding inside a 72 year old man. Not at him, but at management and ownership. This does not happen in a vacuum!!! I'm jumping ahead of myself. When I left Fairey I remembered a collision shop about 15 minutes from my house and decided to check them out. For a small shop they were extremely busy. As I was explaining my problem to the desk clerk. The owner was walking by, stopped and immediately asked me "Why don't you fix it yourself, it'll take you less than 15 minutes. I've had 2 Terrains in here this past week with the same problem." I made an appointment and Best Auto Collision, North SC made the repair while I waited. Cost $20.00. 2021 KIA Telluride. Traveling north on I95 about 60 miles from Orangeburg SC my battery light…read morestarts to flash on/off erratically. Pulled over and looked up KIA dealerships in the area. Now I'm about an hour away from dealership in Orangeburg SC and it's already 3pm. Well I contacted Billy (Service Advisor) and he checks with (Rich) the Service Manager and they can take me in. I get there just after 4pm and they take the car in. They get a driver (Keegan) to take me to a hotel. I get a call less than 2 hours later telling me that (Zach) the technician performed a charging system inspection and found that the alternator had failed. They have an alternator in stock but can't install until the next day. The next day I call Superior KIA and Keegan picks me up and takes me to the dealership. My car has a new alternator, under Warranty, and they even give it a courtesy wash. I drove the remaining 880 miles home with no issues. Less than a week later I get a followup call from Billy asking if everything is ok. Now this is what I call great service! This service department took care of me from start to finish.
