It feels lika a scam, thinking of involving police. Diagnosis- they don't take full X-rays, and subsequently didn't find the root cause of the problems. The measurements done on the spinal X-ray were unsatisfactory, I was expecting more than 2 lines. Treatment- they don't use Gonstead techniques. Since there was no proper diagnosis, treatment is ineffective. Office experience - I asked about the prices of their service prior to my arrival but didn't get adequate info. Then I was rushed (felt cornered and uncomfortable) to make a decision on the spot. I signed some documents and didn't get a copy of them. Made a commitment of over 2-3k. After canceling the treatment plan, I was still charged. Called the office and notified, they admitted charging me accidentally and promised to return. But didn't. read more

I don't have a lot of negative things to say about the staff or the doctors , but the price point for the quality of work is a bit absurd to me. I was told I MIGHT need to have X-rays done over the phone and they could range from $150-275 , my first visit there I had a conversation with the doctor about my pain and without a question he tells me I need X-rays and they'll cost me $150 .. so I said okay with the hopes that I'll get my adjustments too I ended up getting charged $275 for 10 min of X-rays , and then my first session was $90 ... I paid $90 for 5 minutes of adjustments. 5 minutes . I was told I needed 53 sessions .. $90 a session .. coming out to a total of $2300. Which is absolutely ridiculous ! I went to another chiropractor a sports physician who told me he can get me adjusted for the same price and I'll need 10 sessions MAX. I don't want to hate on the staff but I think he's definitely milking the 50 sessions - If you have the money and time and don't mind paying $90 a session for 5 minutes of adjustments then all means this is the place for you read more

I've been a patient at McKinley Family Chiropractic since 2014. Sciatic nerve pain is what first brought me in and I've been coming back ever since. They hold educational workshops for people to educate them on natural health and really help boost your immune system. I used to get colds every 3 months and since going to McKinley, I rarely get colds anymore. Maybe 1-2 tops in a year. Dr. McKinley has helped me with insomnia, menstrual cramps, plantar fasciitis and just regular aches and pains from working a desk job. I am fairly active and new to the area. I started coming here in June after a minor fall had injured my knee. It also impacted the wrists and ankles. After the initial assessment, Dr. McKinley brought to my attention an old concussion and hips out of alignment which I didn't realize their impact on my daily activities. McKinley Family Chiropractic has been a godsend for managing those aches and pains. Dr. Matt has helped get me straightened out after a couple falls which impacted the knee, ankles and wrists. I do have to say, happily, that that the nagging low back and neck pain have really improved drastically! Everyone is incredibly pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Staff at the front desk are always chipper, happy and accommodating. It feels like a big family here which is nice to see these days since customer service seems to fall by the wayside. This has been a few years ago but I drive by this location every day now and wish I would have left this review back then. A year after I had my second child I had a back issue and received a rec from a local mom group that McKinley Family Chiropractic was a wonderful place. I can't comment on the care but I will say I walked in with my pain and was offered no relief or recommendations on what I could do on my own. Instead, I was given an x-ray and left with a quote for thousands of dollars in services. Never went back but found relief from a PT the next day. read more

They view chiropractic as holistic, whole body healthcare, not just as a quick fix for injury or a thrown out back. How do I start? I had a really -- in my opinion -- severe case of neuropathy where at my peak I was just feeling like complete and utter doo-doo. I didn't know what was happening to me. Symptoms included tingling and prickling in the chest, arms and legs. I couldn't go through out the day without it just overpowering me and keeping me from going about my business. It only got worse at night, which caused me to fear even trying to go to bed. So, naturally I started booking appointments left and right that included getting a physical, acupuncture, chest x-rays, and blood work. I was basically told nothing was wrong with me. That it could just be "anxiety". But, one day, like a miracle, an ad popped up on social media for the McKinley Family Chiropractic that listed what they specialize in. This included the symptoms that had been occurring to me. Once I did my consultation with Dr. Heath McKinley, I almost cried. Because he knew EXACTLY what I was going through. He almost took the words out of my mouth as he started going over what my body was experiencing. He explained the functions of the nervous system and how the body is all one big circuit. I was feeling total relief that I knew I had come to the right place. Fast forward past several appointments and body adjustments, and all I can say is I feel 95% better. I say that because I technically still have several appointments left in my 3-month adjustment plan that I am going to fulfill. However, that 95% is wayyy better than when I was at my peak state of discomfort. I have been "tingle free" the past several days now, and even before that the symptoms were dwindling. As I write this review, I've completed a little over a month of seeing the awesome and wise Dr. McKinley, and of course Dr. Ray, who by the way has enlightened me with his love of Star Wars while also making the adjustments to my body on days Dr. McKinley needs to spread the love to other clients. If there were more stars to give, I would add more. I have been coming to Dr. McKinley and his staff for 6 years now. I live in the south side and manage to make the commute because this place has truly changed my body in ways I cannot begin to explain. I came to him 6 years ago at first as my last resort at trying to figure out an alternative for trying to conceive (had not had a menstrual in over 2 years). I had a miscarriage and after many tests I was told I would never get pregnant on my own, I would have to rely on IVF. Trying to get pregnant and failing for two years was emotionally and physically draining. Therefore i decided to put IVF on hold and focus on my health. I came in, and did an exam. I also suffered from insomnia and migraines. That first adjustment, I got my menstrual after not having one in over two years that night!! I could not believe it! I slept through the night and also did not get any migraines. Wanna know what else? I got pregnant at the end of that month. I continued going throughout my pregnancy with my son who was born a very healthy boy. May I add, my labor was a piece of cake. My mom was in shock at how natural I was. Now 6 years later, I take my daughter who is just 8 weeks old. I started bringing her when she was just 5 weeks old for gas and possible colic symptoms. After her exam she is doing so much better, less gas and less fussy, sleeping through the night with maybe one time feeding (breastfeeding). She is a very happy baby! There is no single better choice I've made for my health than coming to McKinley. Honest, intelligent, holistic care and advice has been their consistent stance towards me (been going for approx 7 months, hoping to never stop). A kink in my right shoulder blade so sharp I couldn't hold a piece of toast sent me here. I'd never felt pain so debilitating, and I broke both of my wrists. It was frustrating because the source wasn't obvious, but McKinley & Co helped me clarify the issue. Never has a health care professional been so concerned with my overall health before. We traced symptoms back to an old injury I never took care of, old patterns I've needed to ditch and they've saw me through it every step of the way. From recommending vitamins that genuinely make me feel better (what a novel idea!), helping my wife through nagging shoulder pain and out of allergy issues, I can genuinely say my life shifted after encountering McKinley. I assumed I never needed health care since I was functioning just fine on my own. Didn't like prescription meds, tried to eat mildly healthy, and stayed away from most risky practices. Hear me friend: not tending to your health is choosing to be unhealthy. I wish I had found them years earlier, but I'm grateful to be feeling happier and more alive these days. This is a good practice however they don't take Covid safety protocols as seriously as most other businesses in Chicago. I went today and there were way too many patients milling about in their small space and worst of all a newer doctor there was not even wearing a proper face covering! He had a small piece of plastic covering his mouth but his nose was completely exposed. I felt extremely uncomfortable. They don't even use full disposable sheets for their upholstered adjusting tables. A small piece is placed just where the face goes but the rest is being used over and over and not even being disinfected in between. No air purifiers anywhere either. Being a doctor's office I expected them to be more responsible however I don't plan on returning till the pandemic is over. read more

I've been going to McKinley Chiropractic for a number of years due to chronic lower back pain. Last year I suffered an extremely herniated disc at the end of my triathlon season . I went for two months of no sleep, no comfort and lots of pain medications. I stopped in to see Dr. McKinley and a week later I was off the pain meds and sleeping through the night. Traditional doctors were recommending that I have back surgery, which is something I just did not want, but McKinley Chiro got me back on my feet and into the races again. I really desperately wanted this to help with a chronic inflammation issue and was sold on the initial consultation. They were nice. A month later Ive gained 5 pounds (which muscle testing blames on inflammation, do what you want with that info). today I was told 'you must not be running enough miles' which is health care speak for 'go home, we won't help you.' I was referred to McKinley Chiropractic by my Bradley instructor, as they offer maternity chiropractic care. Dr McKinley helped me getting rid of my terrible sciatic nerve pain. I was in terrible pain and my ob/gyn said I need to take Tylenol for the rest of my pregnancy (5 months), as nothing else can be done w/ pregnancy related nerve pain... After 1 adjustment I felt better, after 3 I felt MUCH better. I also got through the rest of the pregnancy w/ no lower back pain and a perfectly positioned baby. I am very dissatisfied with McKinley and his doctors I went thru numerous visits at least 12 and didn't feel any better with my chronic back problem then I did before I went , dr McKinley lets just say runs more of a compound then a docs office his views are very cult like and I didn't appreciate the fact that he wanted to drag my wife and kids in there to have Thier necks cracked when there was no problem whatsoever with them , maybe it was my insurance that made him see dollar signs. One day I was early for an appt and was shocked to see him cracking a 2 year olds neck and the mom reluctantly holding the boy and I can see her face was just full of embarrassment and worry but he insisted that this helps the lil ones ??? Then he tried to pawn this same scenario on me that my kids need it , at the age of 2 , 5 and 9 come on really , on top of having my insurance billed he still sent me a bill after I lost my job and wouldn't and couldn't go to him anymore half these postings that praise him are by his staff FYI on that , but don't take my word for it see for yourself it's only a matter of time till u realize I was right ! read more

I came across this practice at a Health Fair held at Navy Pier. They offered a great come on. $20.00 Consultation with x-rays included. After the initial consultation, they presented a series of treatments they thought I needed and wanted me to sign a contract for payment purposes. If I no longer felt I wanted to continue the treatments, I would still be liable under this contract. I took the results that I had gotten from Dr. McKinley to another chiropractor for a second opinion. He told me that these were general findings and that most people had these symptoms in some degree or another. I felt I had been misled and what he did was unethical. I am a very active individual who works on his feet all day and I had a really bad case of plantar fasciitis. I went to podiatrists and specialists for a year and a half that were injecting me with all types of medicine and giving me shots and using some sort of electrode therapy to try and help it. Nothing ever worked. I was in the worst pain of my life. Because I was walking crookedly, other parts of my body started to become affected. I couldn't sleep at night, my back was killing me and my hips started to hurt. I was referred to Dr. McKinley and I'm glad that I went. He was the only doctor that accurately diagnosed everything, and gave me a timeline to when I was going to feel better. After my first adjustment, I went home and slept better than I have in the last year and a half. I was in really bad shape and it took a little while, but now I feel better than ever. I've been going to them for 7 years. They don't seem to be very intuitive about what might be "out" but go through the same moves each time, even when I mention different areas of pain. Both Dr. McKinley and Dr. Ray are very nice guys, but each visit lasts about 4 minutes and I feel like I'm on a bit of an assembly line. When my arms when numb, Dr. M wanted to x-ray my neck again and then compare the x-ray to my original x-ray from 2008. But he never did this. After he prescribed treatment, I wanted to see the comparisons and when I asked to, the office staff had to ransack the old files to find the old x-ray for me.
