We had our first trip to the dentist today and it couldnt have gone any better. Very friendly staff from the receptionists all the way to the dentist. Claps to the dental hygienist (i didnt catch her name!) who did an awesome job explaining and showing my 4 year old what she was going to do PRIOR to doing it. - im a ICU nurse and can really appreciate the education at the patients level approach- which u would think is a given when working with kids, but thats not always the case. read more

When I was looking for a new dentist for my kids, my orthodontist recommended MPD. My first visit to that office was a wonderful experience and I must say, an example of what customer service everywhere should be like. The receptionists and staff were very welcoming and always had big smiles. The dentist himself was just as welcoming and I felt very comfortable in his presence. After seeing my child, he took me to his office and explained to me what services were needed. I expressed my concern that my insurance was out of network. However, he assured me that he would work with my insurance and me to ensure that we would not be financially burdened. He spoke like a salesman, but for some reason I felt that he was being genuine. I did believe that his words meant something. The following week, I brought my other child in as well. Fast forward 2 months later, our insurance company claimed that they could not cover most of our cost. I was very distressed before I went to discuss my options with the dentist. True to his word, the dentist worked with me and we reached a very happy conclusion. I am so happy that I went to this dentist and I have complete faith in his office. So much so that I am now an ambassador for MPD. I will be recommending each and every one of my friends to this location. I honestly believe that you won't find a more sincere, honest and qualified dentist than Dr. Shaack. read more

I have 17 yr old son with Autism and was having a hard time finding a way to get some fillings done in his mouth without costing me thousands of dollars to fully sedate him or causing him so much anxiety and stress. Three dentists later, we were referred to McKinney Pediatric Dentistry. I was hesitant that they would be able to do it in office and without stressing him out. THEY WERE AMAZING!! I can not praise Dr. Freeze enough for the grace she showed my son and how well she approached his situation!! Everyone in that office was kind and helpful! I would highly recommend!!! read more

I did a lot of research on eligible dentists and recommendations from my pediatrician before deciding on Dr. Schaack and I'm really glad I chose him. His office is warm and friendly, with a great waiting room that's kid friendly, and he's very experienced in working with kids. For my daughter's first check up (at two!) he had me hold her in my lap and have her head in his so he could brush her teeth and look. He talked to her the whole time and was gentle and nice, and then he explained everything to use in easy to understand language. I'm looking forward to many years in his practice! read more

My kids love Dr. Schaack! The whole staff here is super friendly and great with kids. The doc himself has four kids so he's got a great way with them. My then four year old was terrified of the dentist, but after coming here, she looks forward to each visit. I highly recommend them if you have s terrified kiddo. To address the review about them being a scam: Dr. Schaack points out any cavities that are formed. Some cavities are small and don't need treatment, like my daughter's. He has never pressured me into anything; he's the first one to say "Let's monitor this instead" or "let's try this less expensive route." If your kid had six cavities, then they showed you them on an X-ray. To say you went elsewhere and they said he had none shows me you obviously care more about money and less about your kids oral health. We've been coming for almost three years. In all that time he's never tried to "scam" me. Highly recommend! read more

This place is a well oiled machine from start to finish. Took both of my kids here for cleaning and check ups. One kid also received a second service performed on their teeth and all was done in less than an hour. Both the Dentist and the hygienists were extremely great. I talked to the Doctor for a long time about whether or not we needed to visit an orthodontist. Never felt rushed throughout the entire process. Would highly recommend this place. read more

I have had my child as a patient here for 4 years. We come faithfully do whatever is recommended by the staff for treatment etc. I have two much older children that see an adult dentist but based on their treatment experience often asked why similar measures were not being taken. They kept reassuring me all children are different I can't base her experiences my older kids- well the periodontist disagrees and now my 13 year old has to have her surgeries and gum graphs all of which were easily avoided by pulling some/multiple overly stubborn baby teeth my daughter STILL has. I just took my son today to McKinney Pediatric Dentistry and I was almost in tears before we left...in a good way!!! It was our first visit..my son is 2.5 and has a major speech delay/possible Apraxia. I was really anxious about the appt and how my sweet little boy would do, if he'd be overwhelmed, etc. I'd never, EVER seen a doctor of any kind with such compassion, respect and just extraordinary kindness. He met us in a private treatment room, a lovely brightly lit room (had a big window), and the first thing he did was to greet my son, and to give him a high five. He visited with us for a few minutes, explained what he was going to do, and then had me lay my sons head on his lap, and he did a quick but thorough cleaning. Get this...The entire time he was doing the cleaning, he was softly singing to my son...the "wheels on the bus" song. OMG...I was literally misting up while watching it and my son was completely in awe. Best experience ever. Highly, highly recommend them. read more

Super excited that this little man is always stoked to come to see Dr. Slaack and his team of amazing hygienists. They have a great play area in the front for the kids and always bring the parents and kids back and let them play and "wind down" while the chairs and instruments are visible. It's such a great way to socialize the experience with a gentle setting for the kids. The team here sits down with the kids and parents before the appointment and talks to them on their level. I truly believe having the office "visible" while this process is going on is a great way to desensitize the fear of a dentist that most of us grew up with. Everyone was nice when went for our consultation. However, the wait is over 3 months for them to get my son in for his cavities fix. That is outrageous! I went to a different kid dentistry and even on the day of consultation they were able to fix one of them. The next appointment is in 2 weeks for fix the rest. It seems they either have a staffing issues or they shouldn't be taking new patients. I can't recommend this dentistry. read more

This place is awesome! My children have been coming here for the past year. Although, my husband usually brings them, this is my first time in the back and the staff is really awesome and their are plenty of toys and games to keep them occupied and comforted while here! Dr. Schaack is just as welcoming to the children as the rest of the staff which is really important because most children are scared of the doctor. Excellent office! read more

This is the best pediatric dentist office in the area. The waiting room has a kid's room that is in black light with fun activities. They have a coffee bar, with real mugs, for parents. They also have ice cold water and diet sodas. The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. They let the kids choose the flavor or toothpaste and fluoride they use on them. The dental hygienists are wonderful about talking the the kids about everything they are doing so kids aren't so scared. My son loves going to the dentist now. They have TVs above all the chairs for the kids to watch. After every visit, the kids get to pick a toy from the toy wall. I would recommend everyone with kids to go to this dentist office. They also accept Medicaid. read more

None of my family - wife, 2 sons, myself have ever had a cavity. To be told he had 6 cavities was a shock to all of us so we decided to follow up with another dentist. After taking xray and his routine cleaning at Redoak dentistry, the dentist told us our sons did not have any cavities. Please beware of Dr. Schaack and his money scams. We have been taking our oldest son to Dr. Schaack at Mckinney Pediatric Dentistry for 3-4 years now. Unfortunately, out of my 3 children, my oldest is the only one that requires more in depth dental work, while the other 2 have very strong resilient teeth. Our son had a crown done by Dr.Schaack, with nothing more than "twilight" sedation. While we will be doing anesthesia during any subsequent procedures (because he is a very fidgety kiddo), he left Mckinney Pediatric Dentistry happy and asking to go back! Last week his crown came out on a Friday evening - Dr. Schaack came in to see us late at night to make sure everything was okay! Luckily it was just as they thought, his adult tooth was coming in and "pushed" the crown out, and this is exactly what we were hoping for (the crown was there to hold the space so that the adult tooth had time to grow in since he was several years away from that happening). I can't say enough good things about Dr.Schaack, Caitlyn - his office manager, and the rest of his team! They have fit us when we have needed it - they have made our son incredibly comfortable - they have kept us informed about what to expect in the future - and they have actually made it so our son LOVES the dentist! That is a HUGE accomplishment, considering he absolutely freaks out when needing to get vaccines :) I have recommended him to several other families, and will continue to do so! read more

This place has been consistently wonderful for years now. Great setup, great office staff, great dental staff. My kids don't mind going there, even when there is a procedure involved. Dr. Schaack is excellent with kids, has a very conservative approach, and is extremely honest. He's not just trying to squeeze a bunch of treatments in unnecessarily.
