This is our second time at Just for Kids and we will continue coming back. We live 45 minutes away and because of construction we were over 40 minutes late to our toddlers appt. Instead of turning us away (which I fully expected and understood) they said absolutely no problem and squeezed us in. They took their time to make my son comfortable even when they were tight on time. The tech asked about my son's favorite things and turned on Little Mermaid so he could watch fish. They were so thoughtful and patient. The doctor took his time and also made sure to make my son feel comfortable and proud of himself for his bravery. As a mom it's important to me to find a place that genuinely cares about kids and tries to give them positive associations with visiting the doctor. I don't think I have ever left a review. HOWEVER, this one requires a review. I called the office because of an error in billing. I was quoted an amount then the day of, I was charged 10 times that amount. I asked what happened, why I was charged so much. The persons response was "we are human and we make mistakes" Customer service at its finest! They are rude. Don't take your kids here. read more

I felt the need to write a review because of how bad our experience was with Dr Nguyen, the "pediatric" orthodontist at Just for Kids Dentistry. We had only been at the practice for a short period of time and had a great experience with Dr Preece, but things took a terrible turn when being referred to their orthodontist. Let me start off by saying Dr Nguyen should not be working with children and has the worst bed side manor of any pediatric specialist I have ever encountered. My 9 year old daughter was told she would need an expander and phase one braces at her first meeting with Dr Nguyen. He explained that this would be a 6 month process and there would be no bottom braces as baby teeth still need to be lost and the focus for now was expanding. We were pushed to put on 4 top braces and the expander would be placed 4 weeks later. Two weeks after her original appointment we were informed the expander impression broke in the mail and we would need to come back for more impressions. At the 4 week mark I received a confirmation text about her appointment to get her expander. It was only then that I called and asked if the expander was in because we had done another set of impressions. No one could answer my question and agreed maybe we should re schedule. I called back again and reminded them she had the 4 braces on and asked what needed to be done about that in the meantime. We arrive at her 4 week appointment and sure enough the expander had not come in. I expressed my frustration with Dr Nguyen and asked what the braces were accomplishing, especially when one was not even attached to the bracket doing the spacing. I also expressed how my daughter was nervous about the process and needs to know what is going to happen at each appointment. What 9 year old wouldn't be nervous about getting an expander, talking funny and having to cut out some of the foods they love. He cut me off mid sentence multiple times, did nothing to make my daughter feel comfortable and instead tried to put me down insisting he didn't understand my frustration. I then explained we only came in because I insisted she have the braces looked at and asked what the plan is moving forward if we are a month behind on the expander. Without looking at her chart says, " oh well today we are going to put on the bottom braces". My daughter immediately starts panicking. I assure him we never discussed bottom braces and he has no idea what is going on with my daughters treatment and that I don't trust him. He takes 5 seconds looking at her chart and confirms that we never discussed bottom braces and that won't be happening. No apology, no explanation, and no comforting a terrified 9 year old. At this point his manager speaks with me about the financial side and assures me we will not pay for any of this and understands how upsetting this all was. She was the only person that was kind and owned up to their mistakes. I insisted we have her 4 braces removed and that we have the records sent as we will not be returning. A young hygenist comes in to remove the braces and tells my daughter to stop crying. At that point I look right at her and say " she is crying because this is awful". The entire experience was traumatic and at the end of the day Dr Nguyen only cared about covering up his own mistake. I would never let your child be seen by him, I wouldn't trust his judgment or that he will perform the right treatment. read more

Terrible office! They ordered excessive work that was costly and painful. Additionally, they were unsympathetic to a kiddo that had a natural fear of the dentist. Seemed very uncaring towards my child. I looked forward to leaving their practice and strongly encourage caregivers to think twice about coming here. read more

This dentist charges the MAX rates allowed by In-Network Insurance and will consistently suggest and perform services not allowed by your insurance. They also charge a "Co-Insurance Pay" with every individual service provided, NOT per office visit. (Not sure if everyone knows this is possible) I made a special trip to their office following a bill that was unexpectedly HUGE. I asked that in the future that they provide an estimate of the cost of services not covered by Aetna. Fair is fair, if I am dumb enough to bring my five kids to their office then I should at least know up front what I am going to get taken for. At least I was making a choice, I thought. On our last visit they gave me an estimate that was HALF of the amount they eventually billed me for. So in addition to the 300.00(ish) they estimated, and I paid at that time, they billed me an additional 327.00 dollars. Of course 3 out of the four services they provided were not (or not fully covered) covered by my insurance for my son and all 3 of the services for my daughter were not covered. Be advised if you decide to use them you will pay FULL POP for your visits. UPDATE: I got a call today from their accounting department person, we will call her Mrs. Condescension. I asked her about the bill and I guess she expected me to only be looking at the bill she sent me. She said basically (Hard to communicate her tone,.... shrill maybe) you owe 327.00 pay it. I asked her to itemize what the bill was for and she balked a bit. I then went down the list of charges they submitted to the insurance. She said well I cant see that, I can only see what the "patient owes". When I asked her why I was paying an co-insurance fee of 30.00 per service she "suggested I call the insurance company". I told her all these charges represented the total amount the "patient owes" she basically ignored me. She went into a brief "better than you" type of speech about how no other customer had complained or left because of billing. (Ill bet that is only because most people don't have six kids and look at the bills very close). IF YOU USE THESE FOLKS I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GO BACK AND LOOK AT YOUR BILLS. I told her that I had gone in there and asked that we get an estimate of charges we would be responsible for and she launched into another condescending inane explanation about how they had given me an estimate. REMEMBER THE ESTIMATE WAS HALF OF WHAT THEY "ESTIMATED". I said to my wife who was standing by listening to the call that we should just pay them and be done with them. She went into the "sister better than us" tone again and in so many words told us if we did not like the way they billed then we should find a different dentist. THESE FOLKS ARE A MAJOR FAIL!! read more

The office seems so easy going and the staff are great people to be around! I am so happy I switched my daughter dentist over. Let it be known that I'm a kind reviewer and take rating places seriously, as I rely on ratings myself when choosing establishments to trust. This dentist was a great experience for my toddlers on our first visit. Beautiful decor and kid-friendly environment, and it made the kids happy to receive so many toys after their checkup! But a couple of things had happened since that first visit that strike me as ridiculous, and exceedingly unprofessional. 1. The kids' dental insurance sent me paperwork telling me that the services that were done were in fact not covered - when calling to ask about this the receptionist seemed to be very confused and said to ignore it. I planned on bringing her the papers at their next scheduled filling. 2. I had been dealing with confusion between the only two receptionosts that work there for nearly two months, about services pertaining to my youngest daughter. She was scheduled for a cavity filling, but upon arriving a very amateur nurse mentioned that she would be getting a shot. WHAT NURSE MENTIONS SHOTS TO A FOUR YEAR OLD. I then had to cancel due to this nurses negligence and my daughter's extreme fear of shots. I called back later and explained the situation, asking if I could go back in the room with her when they do the oral surgery to her. The receptionists said it is against policy and I was okay with that - I then requested to have a different nurse to do the fillings on a different date. I called the office the day of our appointment to reschedule due to a conflict, only to find out the younger blonde nurse never scheduled me? After that long conversation we had and her reassuring me about my terrible experience, she forgot to write us in?? I STILL stayed patient and proceeded to make another appointment for the 27th. I received a phone two days before the appointment from the OTHER older nurse (Diane) telling me that my daughter and I weren't "fit for this office", due to me not being okay with their policy of me not being able to sit with her. I told her clearly that I had already talked to the other receptionist a month ago and we had everything taken care of. She then replied after sighing, letting me know that there was an "emergency appointment" due on that date, and she would now have to take care of that and call me back. I told her that was fine. She then calls me later, letting me know that Dr. Terry Scott himself feels uncomfortable setting up an appointment with my daughter and I. Now I don't know who's emergency appointment was so important as to lose a potential customer, or if they value their negligent staff more than their customer service, or if some of any of their screws are just loose - but this has easily been the worst experience I've ever had dealing with any establishment I've ever been to. This establishment dealt with our situation so unorganized, dramatically and ridiculously. I'm well aware that this sort of thing doesn't happen to everyone, but be cautious I guess? I wasted almost two months trying to get my daughter here for just a cavity filling. Diane did refer me to a different dentist that takes our insurance, so that is a plus. It was the LEAST that entire establishment could do for us. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Terry Smith for a few years now. My kids (ages 5 and 3 right now) always look forward to going to see him. We never wait in the office- they go straight back when we arrive. They are quick and efficient but also patient with the kids. The staff are very welcoming and Dr. Scott is wonderful at communicating observations to me. I had no issues with dr Scott, and the dr who gave the IV sedation was wonderful, she also gave me all the records of the procedure and what meds my daughter received. But and this is a huge BUT the office staff and all the trouble I went threw with they're front desk and trying to file the IV sedation with my medical insurance since they covered it. The office staff made it was brutal and took almost 6 months to get a refund for the prepaid, because the office staff at Just for kids couldn't get their diagnostics codes correct. They also tried to over charge me with additional bills that were already covered and paid for by my dental insurance. Word of advice if you go here for your kiddos, confirm with your insurance the price they paid and your portion to be paid. But my advice is stay far far away!! Dr. Scott and staff were FANTASTIC! They were all so kind and helpful. Jeanette was gentle and very patient getting an X-ray of my 5 year olds injured tooth. My son was able to lay nicely on the chair watching Finding Dory on the ceiling. They are extremely accommodating to children and had my son wanting to go back. Dr. Scott was incredibly thorough explaining what needed to be done. We left feeling 100% confident in his diagnosis and treatment plan. I had been to a different pedodontist with my daughter many years back, and felt like a number. That was no way the case here with Dr. Scott and staff. This was the best experience and everyone was so personable! read more
