At this point, I think I was already more than half-way ready to move forward with another contractor I had previously met. Needless to say, I ended up doing business with Diego. Without first looking at his ratings and reviews, I met and got to know Diego in person. I appreciated the man starting then, and he continued to earn my gratitude and appreciation throughout the entire duration of my project, which was extended in more ways than one. I just can't say enough good things about MCL! Mauricio has done a few projects for me. Initial jobs: I initially contacted him to replace my kitchen porcelain sink with a stainless steel one. Mauricio showed up on time and took his time completing the job and the sink looked great. I then contacted him to replace drywall and a ceiling fan in a guest bedroom , same experience again, he did a great job, took his time with the work and everything was great. He took the time to explain any issues he ran into and how he would fix the problem. There were electrical issues in the ceiling where the fan would be connected . He repaired the issue and explained how he would fix it. He was fair and upfront about any costs with me the entire time. Larger project: By this time I knew I had to hire MCL for my guest bath. Mauricio and his team completed a total renovation of my guest bathroom and I will let the before and after pics speak for themselves. Mauricio scheduled me for a date that worked for me , even thought there was a delay in getting the shower pan on my end Mauricio still moved forward with the demo and was patient while we waited for some materials that I had ordered to arrive. Him and his team worked diligently through December (holiday season) to complete the remodel. During this time I added extra items around the house , for example replacing three other toilets, fixing a kitchen outlet, and painting a door and Mauricio got all of this done for me. Maurico has done a couple of jobs for us on our 49 year old house in Irvine. He has replaced bathroom fans with higher powered units. Removed surface mold and textured and painted bathrooms. His most recent job was much larger. Our nearly 50 year old fiberglass shower was beyond worn out. The vanity counter was literally falling apart and the sinks were buckling as a result. The bathroom could use a complete gut and remodel but our budget wouldn't allow it. This was a huge problem because every contractor we contacted would only quote on a gut remodel costing much more then we could afford. That's when I decided to contact Maurico and asked him if would quote on replacing the shower unit with a new acrylic unit and replace the vanity with a pre-built unit. I had done a lot of DIY remodeling back in the day so I would find and purchase all of the materials and fixtures to save time and budget. He quoted me a very fair price and we scheduled to meet to pickup the shower and other materials. He rented a trailer so we could haul the stuff from Home Depot. I purchased the vanity with sinks from Builders Surplus in Santa Ana. Huge selection, great prices and many items are in stock for immediate pickup. This is a fantastic way to get a vanity if your current unit is a standard size. Just pick the correct sized cabinet you want then pick a counter top. To save time and money we choose a top with the sinks already mounted. You need to get your own faucets. The only tricky bit to this place is understanding the process. On a weekend it can get too crazy so we went on a weekday. Make sure you measure your space accurately then go wander the floor getting an idea of what you want. Find a salesperson on the floor if you can or go to the counter and get a ticket and wait your turn. They have limited hours Tues-Sat 9 to 5. He ended up needing to relocate the shower drain but the additional cost was very reasonable. The job was completed in about one week. We plan on having him back over the summer to lay porcelain tiles. Maurico went out of his way to accommodate our requests and helped work within our budget. He has our highest recommendation.
