I've been in this store a few times looking for furniture. Not once did anyone try to help me or see what I needed. After wandering around for a while, I give up and go home. I have given up on this store. Not sure how they stay in business. read more

I purchased an end table and cocktail table in Aug. Delivered in Oct. but in December, the surface of end table started to crack with a slight raising. They picked up the defected items and issued me a full refund due to the items no longer being manufactured. After waiting a month for Customer Service to tell me what they would do, my salesperson Harry reached out to the owner and got it resolved for me. Thank you Harry. This was the second purchase I made at this store and wouldn't hesitate to shop here again. read more

We purchased a Bassett sectional in 2017 from McLaughlins in Novi. Within weeks the fabric began pulling and the back cushions just didn't hold their shape. I called McLaughlins of Novi and was told the polling was due to the newness of the couch and after using a fabric shaver a few months it would no longer pill. I was also told that I was to rotate the seat back cushions, which I do routinely. This sectionallooks old and cheap. It still pulls and monthly requires fabric shaving. I rotate the sofa back cushions about every 2-3 weeks and they are just not holding up. The fabric purchased was the "Kid Proof" type. Also the latch to hold the two sections together no longer works. Buyer beware do not purchase this fabric type at all! In addition we purchased a bar cabinet and the hardware had already broken and cannot be repaired. read more

Will always use McLaughlin in Southgate. We ordered our Living room set from them. I was not happy with the workmanship of Basset. Everyone was so helpful, They took back the Basset set and I was able to pick out something else. That I should have picked from the beginning. Our salesgirl Diane was wonderful. We ordered a new bed a few weeks ago. When we ordered, the staff made every effort to be cautious and socially distant while serving us. Today our bed was delivered by the exceptionally professional and polite staff, who also wore masks, gloves and maintained social distance while installing. GREAT experience. read more

Same issue here as far as waiting forever to receive furniture. Ordered a dining room table and chairs on April 2nd. Salesperson in the Novi store had originally quoted 6 - 8 weeks. Ordered from the Southgate location - salesperson advised 8 - 12 weeks. It has now been 16 weeks and still no delivery date in sight. Store is horrible about returning phone calls. I can't help but wonder if McLaughlin's doesn't pay it's suppliers in a timely fashion which is why it takes so long to receive your merchandise. Nice furniture but I doubt I'd do business here again. read more

We will never use McLaughlin's again. The salesperson was extremely rude, did not get us the correct product, and then made us pay to fix it. Their customer service is extremely poor, especially for the high prices. We were in no way happy with the couches we purchased, which, frankly, look like something we could have gotten at Art Van for half the price. Buyer beware! read more

Paid good money for what ended up being garbage leather furniture (Bradinton-Young) Bicast/Bycast JUNK, surface deteriorated and became sticky in less than a year, like sitting on tape. What a horrible waste of money. Was told these chairs would last for years. What a sham! No reputable furniture dealer sells Bicast/Bycast leather furniture! read more

We purchased a $4K desk. It took 15 weeks for the initial delivery, and one third of the pieces were damaged. After that, it took another 21 weeks to get the replacement pieces. For a grand total of 36 weeks from the time we ordered the furniture to the time we had it all. To top it off, the keyboard pull-out drawer didn't work right and stuck once you pulled it out half way. They sent their service man out, and he basically said there isn't anything he can do to fix it. So now we have a poor quality $4K desk, that took 36 weeks to deliver. The store manager was not helpful and was extremely rude. Do not purchase furniture from this store! read more

If you want quality this is the place to go. My family has been shopping here for years and could not be happier with the quality of furniture and service. All custom order so yes it may take longer but well worth the wait. The other locations are also excellent! McLaughlin's is a staple in our home. read more

I paid $2500 for a couch that fell apart after less than 2 years. They refuse to stand behind it and when I posted pics of the couch on their Facebook page they threatened to sue me for slander! What a horrible place to do business with!!!!! Don't waste your money here!!!! read more

Moved into a new place in September 2014 and needed some new furniture to fill the place. Per recommendation of neighbors of mine I went to the location in Southgate. Salesman's name was Dan and was very helpful through the whole process. Prices are reasonable, and I thought the quality seemed nicer than other furniture stores in the area (this isn't ikea furniture!). I have since been back to one of their warehouse sales and was able to get a really good deal on some items, shipment on these pieces was almost immediate too since they came off their warehouse floor during the sale. It has been 8 months now since I purchased my furniture and no complaints, just compliments from family and friends when they come over! My mother says I have good taste. read more

Yes this store carries nice furniture brands and yes the quotes initially appear to be reasonable. But shopper beware. We ordered two pieces of furniture from McLaughlins back in December. The first issue we had was a glitch in the quote we were provided with (which, by the way, was very close to the quote we received over the phone before we even visited the store). We received a call from the store two weeks after we placed our order telling us it would be almost twice what we were quoted as they had made a mistake in calculating the amount. The salesperson was completely unapologetic and acted like the mistake was our fault! We should have taken that as a sign and canceled our order/gone somewhere else, but we proceeded with the order. Now, several months later, we are running into our second problem. It is almost mid-April and we still have yet to receive our furniture! One is a custom piece so we expected it to take a few months. But the other is something that two other furniture stores told us could be delivered within 3-4 weeks. This is getting to be really ridiculous. The last call I made to McLaughlins I was told it would be another 3-4 weeks...it has now been 5 with no update. If you're looking to furnish your home in a reasonable amount of time, definitely look somewhere else. read more
