The food has always been great here. I have gotten several items including the patty melt, San Francisco chicken, fried catfish, Mac and cheese, fried okra, green beans, and omelettes. The only thing that keeps me from giving five stars is the service. There have been several times where it took 10 minutes just to get drink orders in or a ridiculous wait between ordering and getting the food. I have been to McLean's several times and with a big group and small group. I have always had great service. The food has always been good. They have a great menu of southern favorites, I've tried the chicken pastry, barbecue chicken, cisco chicken, and more. One of my faves is the cisco chicken, it is fried chicken cutlet, served over rice and sawmill gravy with cheese and broccoli. It also comes with two sides. Your side dish choices are things like field peas, mac and cheese, collards, green beans. All are yummy, my faves are the field peas and mac and cheese. I have only had lunch and dinner, so can't comment on the breakfast choices. I haven't tried desserts yet, but they look yummy in the case. Great place to try! read more

McLeans is wonderful down home cooking, their breakfast buffet can't be beat...actually their breakfasts can't be beat either! At lunch time there is a wonderful salad buffet. I can't say how much I love this place! The food is truly southern food and is very delicious. I recommend the lemon pepper salmon. It is perfectly delicious! The desserts are also amazing. My favorites are the pineapple cake and the strawberry delight cake. I love having a cheat meal from this place on my cheat days, and try to stop in whenever I'm in the Zebulon area. The staff is warm, friendly and demonstrates excellent customer service. The only thing that would make it even better is if they served cocktails. Want to stop for breakfast after church this morning and found that they still are not serving breakfast after 10:45. It really is a shame, there isn't really any place to sit down for breakfast in Zebulon on weekends or even just get breakfast for supper. Last Thursday, the 14th, We decided to eat at McLean's for the first time. We did to go since we didn't have much time. I was satisfied with my food. However, the costumer service was not all that. A young lady by the name of Emily was quite rude to me and had an attitude. I asked her simple questions and she was quick tempered and looked at me like I was crazy. Great homemade food. The chicken tenders are good. The shrimp and grits were okay. The chicken fried chicken with sawmill gravy was good, but a small portion for the price. I think their best area is lunch. They have a lot of weekday lunch specials that are affordable. They make fresh pies too, but haven't tried them yet. They are high on dinner prices for what you get especially in Zebulon. It's definitely nice to have a place like this to choose from. read more

Not as good as it used to be!!! I ordered grilled shrimp and French fries like I always got! I asked for no Cajun and shrimp still came with Cajun and the french fries were ice cold!!! I then sent it back and 30 minutes later I got my food which was then hot!! My son used to always get the shrimp Alfredo but they stopped making that. We are very very disappointed. The food was delicious, from the juicy fried chicken to the perfect cheeseburger to the better-than-mom's meatloaf. And desserts are beyond amazing - we tried the rich peanut butter cake, the indulgent pineapple cake, the velvety chocolate pie, and the decadent hot fudge brownie sundae. We practically had to be rolled out of the restaurant after the delicious meals we enjoyed and will definitely be back. Our waitress, Keilandi, kept our drinks filled, brought our food quickly, and kept smiles on our faces throughout the entire meal. This is a very good spot for country cooking. I have eaten here many times for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast offers a buffet that is small but fresh with lots of options. That runs you about $9 a person with coffee. Dinner has lots of options from chicken to steak and seafood. Their veggies are really good and homemade. The mac and cheese, okra cabbage and collards.
