We were so excited to give this place a try, especially knowing how successful Norse is in Wake Forest. Unfortunately, it was an out of disappointment. While the staff were very nice, there was only one person running around managing all the tables, and my salmon salad was terrible - I specifically asked how the jalapeños were cut, so I could take them out if they were too hot - and was reassured that they were cut in coins/slices and would be easy to remove. When the salad came, they were diced super tiny and super spicy - and really difficult to remove. Also, a good part of my salad was avocado, and it was so unripe that it was crunchy! When I mentioned these concerns to the staff, the lady apologized about the jalapeños and said her niece works in the kitchen and had told her that she's been throwing away the soft avocados because that means they're not good anymore. Who has kitchen staff (especially family members) that don't even know what a ripe avocado looks and feels like?!? She did acknowledge and apologize that my salad was nothing like I had expected (or they had advertised), but did not offer any sort of a discount - although we also did not ask. As the only place with actual food in that area, we had high hopes, but sadly we will definitely NOT be back. The only reason I did not leave one star is because my husband ordered the beet salad. We've been for lunch a couple of times. The service is extremely slow and lacks customer focused attention. Appetizers arrive cold after 30-40 minute wait. Lunch then arrives another 30-40 minutes after the app(s). Only one waitress/bartender serving everyone at the bar and in the dining area. Also seems like there is probably only one cook in the kitchen. If you don't have 2 hours to be in this restaurant at lunch time don't go. Food is decent but you will wait for it and likely send something that should be hot back because it will be cold. They desperately need to add staff. Our business just moved to Zebulon which has very few choices for a good lunch. There are over 100 of us at the office not sure any of us will return to Norse. Slim pickings in Zebulon. I've been here several times and LOVE their food. They also have a great rotation of beers on tap. The food is always delicious but can sometimes take quite a while to come out from the kitchen. Both times I have been in the service was a little lack luster even when there was nobody else in the restaurant. We had to hunt down our server to pay the tab. read more

Honestly, the staff was really nice and as attentive as they could be while obviously understaffed. The rating is mostly on the food. The burger I got was dry, completely over cooked and hard. I never got my side, was told the manager would "take care of it" but was still charged on my bill. I am happy to pay a fair price for a good meal, but $113 for 3 over cooked frozen patty burgers is outrageous. read more

After reading reviews, we went to Norse for the first time to try out the burgers for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately only a breakfast brunch is served on Sunday. This is NOT the place to go for Sunday brunch. Maybe the regular cook was out, but the only thing halfway decent was the hash browns. Overall we were fairly disappointed with our dinner tonight. We felt this place had such potential based on their menu and photos. It wasn't too busy when we arrived (maybe 3 or 4 already sat tables). We waited about 15+ minutes before someone came over. We never got refills on our drinks. The burger was good but the jam made the bun soggy, making it gross after a few bites. I wish they had put the jam between the two patties instead of on the side. A friend's order was missing jam from her burger and her duck fries were covered in rosemary to the point they weren't great either. Fried jalapeños were okay, pimento came with old, hard pita bread. Excited to see things added to the quiet town of Zebulon. Completely disappointed. Walked in with a party of 6 @ 5pm on a Friday. One person at the bar and restaurant completely empty. Was a bit worried to see this but none the less asked the single worker there behind the bar can we sit outside. She said yes. She then walks out and says "what do you want to drink" we asked for menus and her response was "you're supposed to get them off a table on the inside". (Extremely rude) she got the menus handed them to us without saying a word and annoyed and then after 10 minutes of waiting for her to come out we walked out. On the way out I stated "we decided we're going to leave" she responded with great with a smirk. I think she was too busy talking to the lone wolf at the bar. On the way to the car the bar next door which was packed and looked like a lot of fun. If you're just looking for drinks good time and food truck save the 50 steps and stay next door. Seating is mostly high tops with a few lower tables. I think they had outside seating too. Service was friendly and the burgers were great. From the time we stepped into this place, it just felt right. We were greeted right away from a few smiling faced employees. We sat at the bar with a lovely gal name Tiffany. She let us taste different beers without hesitation. She ended up making me a tasty martini and my hubby got a draft beer. We started out with the duck fat fries and the chicken wings and the wings were very crispy and hot. The duck fat fries were a little cold but still crispy and flavorful so we opted not to say anything. Then we both had the Viking Burger. One with the brussels one with the loaded tots as our side items. All of those items were hot and yummy. The portion sizes were huge. We cant wait to go back to such an amazing staff that all work together to make sure your experience is the best! Hallelujah! We've finally gotten our third great sit down restaurant in Zebulon that we can dine, being Southland, Margarita, and now Norse Longhouse! We gave them a month or so to get the kinks out, and Norse did. Though a brewery, Norse focuses on great and different food offerings as well as some fabulous staples. Linda and I enjoyed an app of meatballs smothered with beer cheese which Norse makes, and delicious toppings! You can't get that for many many miles. While we like some exotic dishes, for our first time we stuck to staples; they were outrageously great! Susan is the GM and truly cares about the eatery and her customers. She made us feel like family. The decor, brightness and cleanliness is superior. Ryan served us well and does so when he's not refueling jets up in the air from Seymour Johnson AFB. We wanted to love this place. Just thinking it was a funky brew house in downtown Zebulon. We thought it would be wonderful. it is not. we tried it twice so this review is not a one off. Both times the food was okay but the service was terrible. Both times we watched as the waitress and bartender spent a lot of time with customers at the bar while ignoring other patrons. The people at the bar were probably regulars but how can you get more regulars by ignoring them? Tonight we went and sat at the bar hoping this may help us get better service. We were wrong. We sat there for at least 5 minutes without being acknowledged in any way. Even when napkins were placed in front of us we weren't told hello. We had to ask for more water and more beers even though glasses ran dry. I could go on and on but the story would basically prove the service was horrible and we won't return. read more
