We used McMullen to get our septic system pumped yesterday. They left the system turned off and they did not screw the covers down (they took the screws with them also). I called first thing this morning and I was not called back. I called back this afternoon and spoke with the owner. He offered to have someone come back at a time that was not convenient for us. He started to yell and tell me I was making this a much bigger deal than it needed to be and then he hung up on me. Apparently leaving a septic cover unsecured is not a big deal? Do not recommend this company at all! read more

Very upset with this company. Had a pump out scheduled and the only thing I was told is that they would be here sometime today (no time frame) and that they would call ahead of time. They called and apparently my husbands ringer was off (his fault) but he called them back approximately 8 mins later and we were told they moved on to the next appointment and we would have to reschedule for end of next week. Who does that? I could see if it was hours later but it wasn't it was a couple minutes later. Well you just lost business and a customer. We also moved on to the next company who scheduled us right away for the same price. Way to Go!! Just remember if you go with them make sure you answer you phone or you will not get service. God forbid you have a back up, which we are close too, then they'd charge you extra for an emergency. Nice!!! read more

a very poor experience. They ripped my irrigation system to shreds, destroyed my landscaping and driveway. Owner Brian McMullin stated he is NOT responsible for damages. I sent him pictures. Decided to "let it go." Months later, I contacted them for service visits which were covered by the contract, and was told they "preferred not to do business with me".......hmm, damages which cost me a few thousand dollars, time, and stress, and NO follow up on THEIR "contract stated preventative visits" for maintenance (2 supposed "free visits" NOT honored.) I am APPALLED at his ethics and a botched job from the get go. Even neighbors have commented on this eyesore in my backyard!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS GUY!!!! read more

After reading all the reviews, I hired them to install a new septic system. After a Lot of miscommunication, and failure to file paperwork with DNREC, Brian calls me out of the blue, ignores our ongoing email chain trying to get things sorted, and demands payment, while the issue was still unresolved. He then repeats this tactic, which made me worry my system would not get final approval. Brian's staff is wonderful, but he is absolutely horrible to work with. Finally got the mess cleared up and my system's approval through DNREC. I look forward to never dealing with Brian again. read more

McMullen Septic service is the BEST!! They arrived when they said they would. The two young men were very professional. They checked in when they fixed one problem so I could check that it was fixed. They let me know when they were going to lunch. They had to work in very wet conditions but still the the job so my lawn looks good. If I could give McMullen a zero rating I would. I've used them in the pass but never again. I had an emergency where water was backing up due to a blocked septic system baffle. I called to have McMullen service and fix the problem. I explained the issue to the person answering the phone and was told they could get someone out by the end of the month. Are you kidding me? Called these folks because I had a breaker tripping for my septic pump. The first day they came out and pumped the tank. Fine. Told me I had 1 week before the tank refilled, so I requested another appointment with someone who could fix the problem. Three days later they show up at 7:30am for an 8:30 appointment. Banging on my door like a drum. They checked the pump float and told me the problem was between the pump and the breaker box. Then left. Charged me $125 for nothing. So I self diagnosed by digging up my yard until I found the cut cable. By 11:00am I had a splice pit dug and the cable exposed. I figured they had the waterproof splice kits and I had already paid them, so I called them to return. I was told, "No problem. He'll be back later this afternoon." I called back at 5:00 and 7:00pm. No answer on their "Emergency line." At 8:45 I get a call back. "We got no message and won't be open the next 3 days, but you can do it yourself. We get the kits from Dover Electric." Very impressive company staff, the company receptionist Nikki was very courteous and professional and made my appointment as early as possible and according to my availability. As a new home-owner with a septic system, I was unfamiliar with the system's operation. Kris and Wade provided me with a basic tutorial on the system's function and it's requirements. They did a great job, even cleaning up before departing, it was like they were never here! They are great representatives for McMullen, thanks again Kris and Wade and Nikki! read more
