I wish I could NEVER deal with McNally ever again, but unfortunately, too many homeowners believe they are a good company and use them. The majority of rental homes that fit my criteria are through McNally. I have had to go through them a few times when trying to find a rental over the years. I've never been successful in renting from them due to past credit issues on my husband's credit report. This last time, however, was the worst experience. I was applying alone due to separation and knew the credit issue would not be a problem. 1) I informed them I had a large dog, a German Shepherd, and asked if that would be ok and was told it should be. After walking through a home, I rushed back to the office and spent 30 minutes frantically filling out an application on the home, handed it over and then was told that my German Shepherd is on the dangerous dogs list and that none of their rentals will allow it. I walked out crying because I didn't know what my family was going to do. I even said, "So I'll never be able to rent through McNally as long as I have my dog" and she said, "That's basically right." A week later I saw a home advertised by McNally that said "large dogs ok." No phone call, no customer service at all to let me know that there was something that could work for me. I was then told that because of the number of people with German Shepherds, the homeowners will consider it on a case-by-case basis. Did they not bother asking the homeowner of the home I was frantically applying for?? I was "frantically" applying for it because when McNally scheduled me for the "first available opening" to walk through the home, I was told there were 2 applications ahead of me. By the time I had the walk through, there were 5! How does that happen!? I'm supposed to be in line!! 2) I applied for another home after being told that the homeowners will look at the dog at a case-by-case basis. I gave them $80 (Two $40 fees because my student daughter is 18 years old -- they wanted to make her sign the lease even though she's going off to college! - they did concede, however, that they would list her as an "occupant" instead of having her sign the lease.) I also gave them a $1300 deposit check for that home. I was called a week later and told that I was denied the home because of the dog and to come in an pick up my reimbursement check. I said my checks hadn't gone through. A week later, I got another call from McNally. My replacement check was there waiting for me. I told them my check never went through. I was THANKED FOR MY HONESTY because they would have just given me the check. 4 WEEKS LATER, the Monday after Christmas, the $1300 check I wrote on November 19 cleared. WHY WAS IT EVEN CASHED!?! My account was overdrawn $1200 and I had to rush in for the replacement check. I deposited that to replenish my account. Sunday, Jan. 3 I notice the original $1300 check was returned by the bank and the funds re-deposited into my account. Now I've got McNally's reimbursement check and the original funds in my account. I immediately move it into savings because I knew it was an error and I'd deal with it today. Then today, Jan. 4, they leave a voicemail message on my husband's number (who I'm separated with and did not apply for the home with me) saying to return the money immediately or they would be forced to call GH Police. THIS PLACE IS SO DISORGANIZED. You walk in and go right up to these ladies' desks in their offices. There are no seats to sit and wait unless you go back out into the lobby. Their paperwork is just stacks of paper on their desks with post-its. I've seen names listed on pads of paper and then just crossed off to indicate who is "next" in line for the home. Whatever procedures they have in place are HORRIBLE. BE WARNED THAT IF YOU GIVE THEM A DEPOSIT FOR ANY HOME, THEY WILL CASH IT EVEN AFTER BEING DENIED THE HOME. IF YOU HAVE ONLY ENOUGH MONEY FOR ONE DEPOSIT, DO NOT GIVE IT TO MCNALLY. THEY WILL HOLD ON TO IT. IT WILL GO THROUGH YOUR BANK. THEY DO NOT GIVE THE CHECKS BACK TO SHRED. They say that my check was deposited with a stack of others all at the same time and they don't know why the bank took so long to cash it, but that's BS. I don't believe that for one minute. These deposits should not be cashed at all until the application comes back that we've passed and the homeowner has chosen us. (They say they "have to" cash it.) I applied for a rental home 10 days ago. I drove 30 minutes to submit application & the $60 screening fee plus $900 CASH deposit to hold the home as I was told I would be first in line for it if I placed the deposit. For 10 days I NEVER once had a phone call from these people. I explained to them I have to be out of my current home on or before 4/30. Everyday I had to call to touch base re: my application. They kept saying they'll call me back but NEVER did I get a call. I called again today and 3 hrs later I get a denial call because my credit is not good. I told the landlord Jeff that my credit wasnt good when I looked at the house and he DID NOT tell me that they do not rent to people with bad credit. In fact, he advised me to pay the $900 deposit so I could be 1st for the home. Now I have 2 days to find a place and I'm running out of time. They said they'll MAIL me a check for my deposit back. I paid CASH but they wont give my cash back. They have no common courtesy to return calls at all. You have to call them if you want to know if you got the house or not. Dont even bother to fill out applications w/ them and pay $30/pp screening if you dont have perfect credit because they'll deny you for that reason and keep the money. This company left me beyond frustrated and disappointed. I am moving to Washington and saw a listing two weeks prior to me flying out there to find a place to stay. Closer to my travel date they made a viewing appointment and confirmed to me that they had no applications on that rental. The day before my viewing appointment, they called me again to confirm and again told me that they had no applicants on that rental. I went for my viewing and Steve the agent that was showing the place confirmed that there were no applicants on that property. I liked the place and put in an application on the spot for this place. I even got receipts for my app fee and holding deposit. I never heard back from them that day. At the airport when I was about to fly back so I can go organize for the moving truck, I called them to see how the process was going. The lady says yeah, we have your application here and I meant to leave you a message yesterday to let you know that you are in third place for the rental. How did we move from not having any apps at all to now I was in 3rd place. I was in tears at the airport. I spoke to Melissa who's tone was simply uncaring and I even told her that. Even though she offered to refund my money, she simply didn't care and it came across her voice. I asked her to withdraw me from the app process and I just had to get off the phone with her. Here I am having spent money to fly to Washington to look at places, filled out an app and now I am back to square one. Bad bad business practice. The worst. They are fine until you move out and they make up every reason under the sun to keep your damage deposit and can't give me an itemized receipt for what they are taking my hard earned money for. I called them several times, never got a call back to answer my questions in any sort of detail. Total BS! Basically crooks. I am filing a complaint with the Better business bureau. It's mind boggling to me that this guy is still in business and manages so many properties! After being involved in the application process for a house he manages, I can see why he has several very negative reviews & complaints with the BBB. From the time he posted the listing until the moment I left his office after getting my deposit back on the property I had applied for, was a disorganized, frustrating, pathetically unprofessional disaster from beginning to end! And on several different levels! They were unable, and at times, seemed simply unwilling to even bother keeping track of anything or providing accurate information from one minute to the next. Zero integrity! The staff seemed horrifically inexperienced, overwhelmed, uninformed, and incapable of doing their job, whatever it is, let alone providing any kind of honest or decent customer service! Do not try to rent from these people you can offer to pay a year in advance and they still will not take you if you have bad credit. They like to post on craigslist alot but in this day and age we all had problems back in 2008 -2011 and this is not how people should be treated very bad business not for the people read more

I am a property owner and McNally Management has been managing my property since 12/2015. It only took a week I think for them to find renters for our home (which I understand may not be the case for everyone). Because of their vetting we had what I think were the best renters that are out there. We are putting our house up for sale now, but would use McNally Management again if the need arose. I've been here almost a year and if there's been ANYthing I needed to report for repair, they've responded within a week (reasonable, I think....nothing was critically urgent in my mind). I've had two opportunities to rent from McNally Management, and I've been highly impressed with the quality of their services both times. They have been extremely fair, thorough, and consistently accessible. Their walk-throughs offer comprehensive, accurate information and insight about the property, saving me time and freeing me up to focus my attention on the move. I'm very impressed with just how transparent and unbiased their application process is, clearly providing equal opportunity for renters by basing their decisions on a first-come, first-serve basis. I know this because I've been second in queue before and lost the property to the party who got their first. Which was only fair. I've worked with Jeff for years and found him to always be honest, affable, responsive, and easy to deal with. He is the real deal! We've been using them for over three years, as renters, and we have had nothing but positive experiences. They do have the right to pick and choose who they feel would be the best fit for a property and the home owner has a say as well. Of course there are laws regarding discrimination and such but if you're on the list and another person on the list has better rental history, income level or credit...well, then they do. They are in business to make money like most folks are. Their properties do go quick - I rushed like crazy to get my paperwork and our fees turned in - seriously rushed, like a mad woman and it was a huge hassle for me but it paid off in the long run. They are prompt to reply any time we have contacted them. We have never had any issues with them and they are always professional and polite. I personally love working with them and highly recommend them if you're a reasonable person who doesn't expect a property management company to also be a non-profit charity. Never in my rental history have I ever dealt with such a horrible property management company and I've worked for one before. They are disorganized, uniformed, and dishonest. They will sit on your application for days, even weeks on end and not even notify you of what's going on. Apparently there is no communication between the employees, just lots of excuses and false information. I had gone through another management company at the same time, and had gotten my application processed, during the holidays, and was notified immediately within 2 days! While my application at Mcnally's Management was still just sitting there, reasons were just more bs and blame on the holidays. I would have never written this review, if it had ended better. They treated me as if I were a kid and had no idea how renting works! Which is funny because I have been renting for years on my own and never had a problem until now. IMPORTANT!!!!! If they ask for you to put a holding deposit down on a property, please DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, do it, even if they say you'll have first position. Make sure your application is approved first and that you received all the necessary information that'll be in favor for you. They promised me first position too, when in fact I wasn't. They told me it'll take 3-5 business days, when it took up to weeks, oh and if you call they'll tell you the same thing over and over again! They told me I'd have a viewing at a specific time and date twice, and they cancelled, I have a full work schedule so it's very hard to just reschedule. Their employees will talk down to you as if your oblivious to everything, when in all actuality you were told one thing from one employee and told another from the second employee. Just very poor customer service, no communication, and it's just a shame. You would think a property management company that prides themselves as professionals would be honest, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond to help there clients. read more
