It was OK, nothing fabulous. I would suggest not sitting at the first table by the door, there's an air vent on the floor and it was very cold and it's extremely loud, overall. Took a while for the food to come out. Service was OK. The mac & cheese is greasy, didn't care for the signature bread. I liked the squash casserole, though! The desserts looked pretty good, but we did not get any. I don't see myself visiting again anytime soon.

My family had a phenomenal time. As homeschooling parents we enjoy taking day trips with our children. The direction on this day was Georgia. But where should we eat? How about a burger establishment...? Upon arrival, they were closed. McNeely's to the rescue We hadn't ever been before. But, a quick Yelp search helped us to find this gem . It was nearing closing time for McNeely's. But, you couldn't tell. The ambiance was welcoming. You felt at home. The staff was warm and inviting. The food was hot and tasty. The portion and quality was spot on. We enjoyed Everything that we ate. We also enjoyed what we took home We WILL be returning

The old Davenports has not changed - inside is the same. Went for lunch on a Tuesday and there was a nice size crowd there. The flies had another customer upset so he complained and let everyone know there were 6 of them in the window beside his table he got some tissue from the bathroom and started killing them after he saw the waitress do it too! The food took longer than expected to come out. I had pimento cheese panini - meh my friend had the cube steak said it was ok.

This restaurant is in an old historic home in North Augusta and it is charming. This was my second lunch here, they only serve from 11-3 every day but Saturday and it didn't disappoint. Their daily menu is posted on their website with 5 main entrees, lots of "premium" sides and a bread choice but there are also sandwiches and salads. Today DD chose the chicken tenders with sides of tomato cucumber salad and collards. She chose an Hawaiian roll as her bread. I went with smothered chicken which was on a bed of stuffing and covered with sautéed onions and delicious gravy. I had lima beans and beet and onion salad as my sides. My bread choice was their jalapeño cornbread which I think is used in the dressing. It made it slightly spicy and brought out the corn taste. The smothered chicken was a leg quartand it was falling off the bone tender. My DD reported that her tenders were fresh and flavorful. She asked for both of the dipping sauces which she said were good but gave the edge to their creamy ranch. Our server took great care of us and was sweet and engaging. The total bill, with one sweet tea at $3.50 (!), was $38.00. We may have been able to eat a cheaper lunch but I doubt it could be more delicious. Definitely check them out!

I discovered this cute restaurant on FB. I decided to take my husband their for his birthday. We weren't disappointed. From the time we opened the front door we were made to feel at home. The food was delicious! I had one of their summer salads, and it was so refreshing and delicious! My husband had the hamburger steak, and he said it was tender and not dry at all. He also enjoyed the black eye peas and cornbread. Let me tell you, I love some sweet tea and McNeely's didn't disappoint. It was good and strong. We didn't try the desserts, but we will next time we go back

Finally made it back! As much as I love home cooked southern food, I came in solely for the mushroom and Swiss burger. I'm just scrolling Facebook and BAM- saw a pic that I couldn't stop thinking about. So I got my burger and wow! A handmade patty smothered in mushrooms. Very good. My daughter was on lunch break so I picked up her dog so we could all hang out. And I'm thankful that they allowed us to eat in the outdoor seating area. Everyone who left the restaurant walked by our dog and pet or talked to her. I wish I lived closer, but I'll be in Tennessee thinking about this restaurant. I'll be back soon.

Meatloaf, collards, okra and tomatoes, and mashed potatoes, with cornbread on the side. I'm ready for a nap.

If you've never been there, they will start you out with samples of all of their lemonade (which all of them are incredibly flavorful) and you'll inevitably get one because it's THAT good. The staff comes with recommendations to help you navigate the menu and they are so attentive and helpful. I'd go as far to say that they had some of the best service in Augusta. Now to the food, 10/10 I could not recommend them enough. I've had the honey lemon pepper wings and the loyalty platter. And it was so good. The honey lemon pepper wings were full of deep flavor and they give you at-least 10 wings with the plate. The steak and shrimp are the best seasoned meats I've ever had at a restaurant. I've also had a few nibbles of their seafood and ‍. Then when you're ready for dessert, don't worry you get samples too. The blue velvet is my favorite but all of them are award winning so you can't go wrong when it comes to Nattas sweet treats. Over all, great experience, great people, and great place. Get out and support local, it'll never disappoint. P.S. if you think it's pricey, you're wrong. You get what you pay for here. You get no less than two meals out of one plate.

But South Carolina has the best BBQ of all the southern states when you can find the right stuff. BBQ Barn is the right stuff. They've got pulled pork with quality sauces, hash similar to what I make myself (therefore excellent), delicious southern sides, sweet (and unsweet) tea, various other meats (their burnt ends are yum!) and some desserts that look great but I haven't tried yet. They also aren't a buffet style restaurant which is a great thing in my opinion. They have a good amount of seating but I don't think they'll fit lots of large groups so keep that in mind. They do have a drive thru and you can order food to go. Unfortunately, they are also like other good BBQ places in their limited hours; they are only open Wednesday-Saturday each week so they can't be Sunday dinner or Monday emergency dinner unless you plan well ahead. The staff are nice and the restaurant is always clean enough. When we aren't making our own barbecue, we are probably getting barbecue from BBQ Barn (or the only other good bbq spot in the CSRA).

I also can't speak highly enough if the sauces. I am a big fan of the spicy georgia red bbq sauce. The gold is also great, just a mustard flavor. I'm tempted to buy a bottle the next time I visit. My recommendation - Come visit on a warm day. Order a platter of food (2 meats will give you plenty of leftovers) and a slice of cake. Sit at the outside tables and enjoy. There are fans outside if it's too warm.

From the moment you see the brick building and walk inside, you get this warm, classic Georgia café vibe. It is cozy, welcoming, and full of character. It is the kind of place you want to slow down and enjoy. We came in for lunch and everything was outstanding. I had the Curious George, which is turkey topped with spinach dip and provolone cheese on sourdough bread. It was absolutely fantastic. Warm, savory, and perfectly balanced, it felt like true comfort food done right. It also came with a fresh side salad and great dressing that honestly could have been a meal on its own. My boys ordered the chicken quesadilla and nachos, and both were big wins. The quesadilla was crispy and cheesy. The nachos were fully loaded with seasoned beef, black beans, melted cheese, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, plus salsa and ranch on the side. The portions were generous and the flavors were excellent. Then came the desserts. We tried chocolate cake, carrot cake, and red velvet cake. We ordered half slices and they were still huge. Every single one was incredible. The red velvet and carrot cake were made with real cream cheese frosting. The carrot cake was rich and moist. The chocolate cake was deeply decadent. Pairing the carrot cake with a cup of their coffee was the perfect finish. The coffee was smooth and flavorful and exactly what you want with dessert. We were also lucky enough to be taken care of by Reagan, who was incredibly kind, beautifully stylish, and so helpful with my boys and me. She gave great recommendations on dishes and portion sizes. Her warmth and attention truly elevated the entire experience. Between the cozy atmosphere, outstanding food, unforgettable desserts, and exceptional service, Boll Weevil is now officially a must stop every time we are in Augusta. Come hungry. Between the playground right next door, open outdoor seating, and nearby walking trails, it seemed like the perfect road trip pitstop for our stir-crazy kids (and parents). Bonus: we saw they had drinks and a promising-looking menu. Total win, right? Unfortunately, we rolled in an hour before opening--my fault for not checking the hours. That would've been a disaster since my 4-year-old and I were both doing the "I need to pee" dance, but thankfully, the kind kitchen staff let us in to use the restroom while they prepped. We decided to hang around and wait for them to open, and honestly, the outdoor space made it easy to kill an hour. The kids ran around, we played on the playground, and when a sudden downpour rolled in, we took cover under their patio and even got to play a round of giant Connect 4. By the time 4:00 rolled around, we were wet, hungry, and ready to eat. And then it got awkward. We rushed inside excitedly... only to be met with a trio of staff who looked just as confused by us as we were by the vibe. No one greeted us, no host stand, just a blank stare until someone finally said we could sit anywhere. So we awkwardly claimed a table and tried to shake off the weird energy. Our server came over soon after, and we placed our order. I got the drink special--a gin Paloma--which was fine, nothing remarkable. We started with fried pickles (solid but unmemorable), and then moved on to our mains: cheese pitas for the girls, hot honey chicken sliders with sweet potato fries for me, and fish and chips for my husband. Sadly, things went downhill from there. My chicken sliders were just basic chicken tenders on toasted buns. The goat cheese added a little something, but the hot honey was nowhere to be found. The sweet potato fries were floppy and undercooked. The girls' cheese pita was... well, exactly what the menu said: pita with melted cheese. But it somehow still felt a little sad. The worst offender? The fish and chips. The fish was soggy, and the breading slid off like it was trying to escape the plate. The potato wedges were also undercooked. My husband ended up sending it back and opting for the warm chocolate brownie instead. The brownie was better than the fish--barely--but it was clearly just a microwaved store-bought dessert with a drizzle of syrup. In the end, the best part of our visit wasn't the food--it was the playground, the covered patio, and the generosity of the kitchen staff who let us in before opening. We were grateful for the rest stop, but the restaurant itself fell way short of expectations. for the family-friendly location and outdoor amenities for the kind kitchen staff and covered patio with games Points off for food quality (main dishes and dessert mostly disappointing) for the awkward service vibe at opening for lack of value and underwhelming execution If they improved food execution and tightened up the front-of-house experience, this place could easily be a 4-star gem for families on the go. As it stands, it's a pretty setting with subpar substance.
