My wife and I bought a new house a year ago and I have found it difficult to find good contractors I felt I could communicate with and rely on. Michael was two days out from his wedding, but took the time to talk with me late in the afternoon to advise me on my job. He got me the quote not long after the wedding and worked the job in fairly quickly after that. His crew was friendly, communicated well, and kept things cleaned up. The work they did was also very clean and blended well with the existing tile. the price was reasonable and payment was easy through a PayPal-generated invoice. MDR recently installed new back doors for us and we could t be more happier! They replaced the back door and storm door and added a storm door to the front. They made sure to take their time and were very meticulous on every single detail. They tested everything along the way and cleaned up. The guys also noticed that one of the storm doors had some damage when opening it up, they brought it back to Home Depot for us and replaced it. Michael made sure to stop by and review everything and noticed a small rubber piece on the front was missing and purchased it and sent it directly to the house! Michael put together the most thorough estimate for a brand new roof. He took pictures and explained what he saw to conclude that there were two layers of shingles already, unlike what the home inspector said about having just 1 layer. Super friendly guys - Michael and Neil were extremely easy to work with. Sometimes contractors can be kind of gruff or intimidating to be around, but Michael and Neil were different. I felt they were approachable and patient when it came to questions and clarifications, and they never talked down to me or made me feel stupid -- and I had A LOT of questions as they changed my front and back door, plus two storm doors. The front door was especially challenging as they had to cut/redo the frame, and we have a very old house. It was more work than expected, but Michael never complained or made us feel bad about it. He took the additional work in stride, in a good mood at all times. Initially, we had some issues with our storm door closing properly and the lock missing a bracket piece, and he immediately addressed it when he came back the following week. He took our concerns seriously. It's very obvious he loves what he does and takes great pride in it. If I commented about wanting an extra lock or something, he would immediately offer to run to Home Depot to pick it up for me. They both took the time to clean up after themselves as there was a lot of dust, wood pieces. Worked steadily, efficiently, barely saw them even take a break to eat lunch! They did full days, from around 9-7 PM! Polite as well, always asking whether they could use the sink to wash their hands or go to the bathroom. Responsive during the estimate scheduling, as well as when to begin the work. A little bit back and forth or miscommunication when it came to deciding when to start. I thought we were starting a certain day, but he texted me one day and wanted to begin the following day. Was not a problem for me, as I have a flexible schedule with work, but if you have a more rigid schedule, it's best to set a hard date/time to begin. Very honest, as he provided all his receipts upfront whenever he picked up supplies or needed anything extra. Came back when he said that he would to dispose of the old doors, since it could not fit everything in his truck at one time. Offered multiple times to come back and do any touch ups or sanding another day (we had some plaster work and it didn't dry on the same day.) Michael and his team were fantastic and are the most honest and hardworking men you will ever meet. I reached out to Michael for a quote via email and he replied within an hour with a rough estimate and said he could send his guys out the next day to take a look. The biggest project was to cover and finish a 13 foot exposed beam with drywall and paint the ceiling. Michael was able to have Jorge and his crew come the next morning and within 8 hours the drywall was up and the finish compound was complete. The next morning the painting crew came and after talking with Jorge I decided to have the whole room painted to freshen up the walls. He contacted Michael and quoted a very reasonable price and they were able to complete the whole job (sanding, painting ceiling and walls, and complete clean up) the same day. Michael also either personally came to the work site or called me both days to make sure I was happy with the work being done.
