I explained the details of my idea and vision for a really big project I am exploring options for. We were able to coordinate an in-person visit for him to conduct a visual inspection, complete measurements, and discuss the various steps I need to take to get my project kicked off the ground. He provided a verbal estimate for my project which is an approximation anyway because materials, concrete, and labor may vary depending on several variables. I would say Antonio was professional, prompt, and concise with his assessment. Looks like I need to consult with an engineer and possibly an architect before obtaining approval from the city for a permit. If it all goes well, I may end up working with Antonio. There were bare spots, as well as visible drip irrigation lines, and weeds sprouting up due to lack of mulch. I contacted two companies I had worked with before, but the cost was significantly more than expected, so I reached out to a couple of 4.8-5.0 star Yelp landscapers. One said they were out of state and no-serviced the request, but Maria of Sandoval Landscaping & Gardening got back to me the same evening that the bid request went out. She offered to meet me the next day to get an in-person look at the job and give me a quote. After looking at the backyard and seeing the mulch was actually pretty good there, I asked for her thoughts on only doing the front. Maria agreed the front definitely needed a new layer, but the back was in pretty good shape and didn't really need to be done right away or I could spot cover specific areas myself. The other two companies with higher prices quoted a new 1" layer, which seemed kind of thin - or at least would require another re-mulching sooner than what was ideal. But Maria and Armando said they'd apply 2-3", which seemed more in-line with what I was originally expecting in a re-mulch job. Even with that thicker coverage, their price was very reasonable, they could do the job the next day, and they'd also do a little bit of clearing of dead plant material as part of the job. Great! We agreed to move forward and she told me approximately when she and Armando would arrive the next day and roughly how long it would take. They showed up on time, got to work right away, and even did another mulch supply run when they realized the original load wouldn't be enough to cover the whole front yard. That impressed me - instead of just spreading out the original load thinner, they wanted to do the job to their high standards and just acquired more mulch. As you can see from the pics, they did a great job! Since I like to expose some of my more delicate tree trunk bases/root balls to the air (vs cover them in dirt or mulch), when I cleared the base area on those trees, I was able to see they did apply a nice thick layer all over the yard. This should last me at least a couple of years, maybe more. I couldn't be happier with the quality and value of their work. Both Maria and Armando are extremely friendly, flexible, and professional. Would love to use them on a future job when new landscaping is required.

Converted the galvanized valve system to PVC pipes and pressure came back to the sprinklers. Now the two lawns are flush green. Angel gave a 1 year warranty also to come fix issues with sprinkler system. Angel's team David and Daniel were hard working. I also got drip irrigation installers with the same team to protect my plants. All is working good. One sprinkler had threading issue and Angel fit that also fixed. Good communication, he showed up early and got it all done in one day. I didn't realize how out of level the existing slab was but he was able to accommodate and the section he poured was perfectly level. I did however end up renting a scarifier to bring down some parts 3/4" and grinding that smooth. In hindsight, I should have had Joe and his crew initially work it down like that from the start. But I guess in the moment it was too rushed to figure out the ideal compromise. The concrete delivery truck did come up short. He had to go and get bags to hand mix. That wasn't ideal since I was going off a spec sheet that said no hand mix. Overall it was an enjoyable little project and Joe and his crew did an excellent job. Can't wait to put the slab to use!
