The first problem is the parking lot fills up quick. I got there two minutes after they opened at 9am and most of the parking lot was full. So I figured it should be a good place. It has very narrow parking and is one way. Do not even attempt to go here if you are crowd sensitive because the aisles are very narrow and it can get crowded quickly. They need a sensory friendly hour for sensitive people to crowds and noise. They have a good variety of items. Lots of deli and fresh meat. Fresh baked goods They even have a spot with small kitchen items. It seems to be very clean. With that said, everything is WAY OVERPRICED!!! You can get most of the same items at other grocery stores in the area for a lot cheaper. For example $10.99 for this package of organic hotdogs?!! You can get the same for $6 elsewhere. Expect to pay $3-5 more for everything here than you normally would at Market 32 that is 2 blocks away or other stores. Seems to be catered to the wealthy. Would not recommend. read more

Pittsfield, MA - popular with the local Berkshires crowd as there ain't a Trader Joe's here, and a great place to pick up picnic supplies on the way to Tanglewood, which is just 10 minutes away. If you're familiar with the Amish Market in NYC or health food grocery stores, it's much like that - with fresh produce, gourmet/organic/specialty groceries, bulk grains/nuts/coffee, respectable cheese and wine sections, deli and prepared foods, oven baked pizza, bakery, fresh meat & seafood counters, clean beauty & homeopathic products, and more. Sort of like a mini Whole Foods. We ordered some sandwiches which took a long time to make, but they were delicious. I forgot to take a photo but loved the Havana Gold which is a hot Cuban sandwich with pulled pork, ham, melted Swiss, and mustard & pickles on focaccia...yum! There are a lot of nice products here, and it's fun to browse. The prices are expectedly higher than the typical grocery store, but it's a good place to pick up some quality foods and snacks for your meals and picnics if you're in the area. Parking is as tight as a TJ's but the constant comings & goings means you can always find a spot. read more

(To stretch our dollars, we like to purchase "standard items" from nearby Market 32 or Stop & Shop, then come to Guido's for the special stuff.) 2 stars for the anxiety-inducing parking lot = narrow lanes & tight parking spots, many cars coming from all directions, and even crazier traffic now that Starbucks has opened next door! It's nice that Guido's staffs "traffic directors" in the parking lot during especially busy shopping days, but it's still a hair-raising experience to get in and out of this location... No exaggeration here! This genuinely might be the best grocery store I've ever visited. On a day trip through the Berkshires after a day in Connecticut. I initially stopped just to use the restroom, but then I discovered they offered fresh smoothies! The restrooms were spotless, modern, and gender-neutral, which I thought was fantastic. Even though I hadn't planned on shopping, I couldn't resist going back to my car and grabbing my reusable bags. I adore my local co-op, but I wish Guido's was closer to me. I'm coming from the Albany, New York area, and I found their prices to be extremely reasonable. Every employee I interacted with had a positive, helpful attitude. We discovered Guido's when staying overnight at the Wagon Wheel motel down the street and we're sure glad we stopped in. The selection of food and other goods was plentiful, granted a bit pricy, like $15.99 lb. for Turkey Breast, and $8.99 loaves of bread, etc...but, these items are probably geared towards the highfalutin Lenox residents where $ is not an object...there was actually a ham that was $27.99 lb!, that should come with a personal chef to make the sandwich!...We have been to Guido's twice, the last time on a late Monday morning and the place was packed, so much so that we had to utilize the additional parking on the above lot. Due to the extensive foot traffic, the section in front of the deli was akin to riding the T after a Sox game, jammed...and it was a bit confusing when and where to order, but we figured it out. The busy staff behind the deli counter were working their tuchus's off, but were still very friendly in the midst of the chaos. We purchased the Italian Mouthful sandwich, which we split, it had plenty of meat (the anti-Subway sub) and a half was sufficiently filling for us both...the sandwich was delicious and reasonably priced at $12.99. BTW, they had a nice looking cheese section, with some crazy prices for the other half, but they did have a nice selection of samples, which I enjoyed, but they had no place to discard the toothpics...was I expected to carry them around with me?...C'mon Man! Checkout was fast, but the attitude of the cashier was not very cheery, actually a bit dismissive ( In fact I said "Thank You" after paying with no response and with minimal eye-contact. Also, although I had numerous items, I was never offered a bag or box to carry them outside with, hence I was juggling my purchases ...clearly at Guido's the customer is not king and a customer service seminar might be in order as I experienced this same lack of customer care on our first visit, which sadly leaves one with a bit of a sour taste going out the door and knocks Guido's down a star...too bad. read more

Their prepared foods are excellent. I especially loved the kale salad. I mean, how can you make a kale salad taste good because kale is not especially exciting...well this place certainly does. I want to replicate their recipe. They have a lot of great cheeses, meats, veggies, fruits, but be prepared to pay through the roof. More expensive than Whole Foods prices, but I'll gladly support a local company over Whole Foods any day. It's a great place to pick up items for a picnic at Tanglewood, but your wallet may be hurting a little after. But, I guess if you're catering to the Tanglewood crowd and tourists who use the word summer as a verb, it makes sense the prices are pretty high. read more

If you like the feel of Whole Foods (pre Amazon purchase), you'll appreciate Guido's for its organic and earth friendly focus. Pizza is tasty and Guido's coffee in the bulk section is a plus. Something for everyone with greeting card stock, flowers, small gifts, natural foods and earth friendly grocery items. 3 Stars because - the place is nice and have just about everything that you can imagine to suit your culinary palate. The deli was chock full of great things to put between 2 slices of bread but they just don't put enough meat between the slices for the price they charge. The bread was hard as cement too. Now I did like the hot & sweet pickle slices. They were a break from what I normally eat and the heat was subtle and crept up nicely. I figured that because I was in New England that I'd try the New England Clam Chowder... I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and heat it up. Well, I got it and got back to the hotel, heated it up and... a dud firecracker in my mouth. No explosion, no fireworks... just... nothing. Amanda loved her sandwich so I'm going to suggest to her that she gets on Yelp! and do her own review as I just wasn't that impressed. read more

As a visitor to the area I personally think this place is a gem! The prices are reasonable for the area. What I liked about this place was the prepared foods. I got a meatloaf and honestly I'm not a big fan of meatloaf but, I'm very glad I got it! It was the best meatloaf I've ever had! We also got the Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese that my son loved! I got the chickpea salad and that was good too! The overall selection of prepared foods to take home and just heat up was impressive with a fair amount of variety to choose from! Limiting the number of patrons inside - we had about a 5 minute wait - only two at a time max, gloves and sanitizer provided. Ever see a supermarket with made to order crepes? Starting off as a roadside produce stand in 1979, Guido's has grown into one of the best supermarkets you will ever set foot in. And yes, they have a made to order crepe department. As you stroll through the gorgeous store you will wander past a self service pizza station, pastries, a big deli, scones, muffins, cookies, and croissants, a soup and salad bar, meat, seafood, wine & beer, flowers, and cheese departments, health and beauty aids, a gorgeous produce department, bulk grain and coffee beans in self-serve bins, lots of prepared foods (both behind a deli counter or as a grab and go option) plus supermarket staples like beverages, frozen foods, snacks and pretty much everything. There were lots of free samples out yesterday, including some pretty big slices of watermelon, which were so good, we grabbed a big slab for our shopping cart. The baked goods really caught our eye, and we bought a chocolate chip orange scone and a blueberry lemon muffin. They were equally delicious and I really can't say one was better than the other. If you are ever out in this part of the world, you will thoroughly enjoy your visit with Guido. read more

I wish I lived closer to Guidos. I'm becoming much more aware of what garbage our national food supply has become. Guidos offers more healthy options. Local produce, non GMO, and a fantastic selection of artisan cheeses. The service is wonderful, and the ambiance is quite different from your usual grocery store. I love Guidos! read more

For those from the midwest, its basically a Whole Foods. We got sandwiches that were delicious but they also had a pizza station and hot foods (ham and mashed potatoes the day we went), excellent bakery too and the chocolate chip cookie was a delight read more

I spend about $400 a month at Guido's (their meat and fish counters can't be beat, the produce is fresh, prepared food usually very good, and they have a great bulk food selection). I'm knocking down a star because some of the cashiers aren't interested in customer service: they're too busy talking to the baggers to say hello or thank you. I'm spending $100+ on a bag of groceries, please at least look me in the eye and say something! There used to be a manager up front but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Not sure if anyone from Guido's reads these reviews, but staff training might be in order. read more

Expensive, but still poor quality. Unjustified pricing, and prepared foods are all old and stale. Prepared foods are of poor quality, and the prepared foods are the only thing which sets them apart from the local Market 32/Price Chopper. The gist being that you're paying 2x-3x the cost of groceries available elsewhere. It would be worthwhile if the quality is better, but it isn't. I was surprised this was a market as I was sure it was just an Italian restaurant. It was located by our hotel so we decided to see what they had to offer. It was very busy even near to closing time with parking hard to come by. We ordered a pizza in advance and picked it up, along with a few other items. I liked their selection of water. I also tried their cider doughnuts. They were pretty good. The pizza was disappointing. We got a Margherita pizza on sour dough with mushrooms. When we got it back to the hotel room we noticed that only part of it had toppings. It was strange like it wasn't quality checked at all. I didn't find it flavorful and certainly wouldn't order a pizza there again although I probably would pick up items in the grocery store next time I'm in the area. read more

We have been shopping for over 20 years and have always found the food products to be of the highest quality. The staff is always courteous and accommodating. We were thrilled to learn that they had curbside pickup and my 80-year-old mother placed an order for her favorites. This morning, they called to "confirm" and obtain payment. At that time she informed the store that she no longer needed a couple of items and wanted to include three additional items (remaining under the 20-item limit). She was told no changes were allowed. This is a great service for the community. It would be terrific if there was a way to accommodate small changes, especially for seniors. We tried to call to provide this feedback but the recording said to post comments to yelp. read more

Love this grocery so much I had to stop in again to pick up some sundries before heading out of town. They carry Rancho Gordo beans, which are impossible to find at other grocery stores. I also bought a bunch of Guido's pasta. They have a good selection of coffee beans, produce, prepared food, cheese, and Le Creuset kitchenware. Prices are what they should be, meaning this is I suppose what you'd call a gourmet market. I've seen other gourmet markets way overcharging--Guido's doesn't. This place is a lifesaver for the Berkshires. The Guido's in Great Barrington is slightly larger than the one in Lenox. I'm excited to come here again when I'm in the area to pick up some picnic items and pantry staples to take home with me. Beauty aisle is also stocked with Dr. Hauschka and Honey Girl products. Guidos, please after shopping at your store for 33 years I wish you would make returning an item a less fraught experience. In the 33 years which I have shopped regularly I can count on one hand the number of items I have returned. Every time I have been met with rudeness. I love your store but sometimes (rarely) an item does not meet your (mine) standards. This happened with your grilled artichokes recently which were really poor. Not a big deal, it happens. I returned it and did not have a receipt although there is no other business that sells these in the area. The manager reluctanty gave me a $6 credit (having deducted the couple of artichokes we sampled). I said thank you, she (tall, thin, blond) walked away without either apologizing or even saying you're welcome. I know this sounds silly, definitely first world problem but Guidos if you're reading this remember - folks like me are your bread and butter throughout the year. The prices are ridiculously high, which I can stomach for special items, but not much was special here. Service was slapdash and chaotic. The store was crowded and hard to navigate. Staff was uniquely unhelpful (looking at you deli counter). This store tries to be a Whole Foods but fails badly. This is a phenomenal market. Everything is so fresh and pristine. Beautiful fruits and vegetables lots of organics the meat section also has a lot of grass fed meats and the fish section has a lot of local fresh fish lobsters scallops different types of salmon. There's a café in the back they have really good soups microbrewed kombucha-juices coffees you name it all great quality stuff. OK so I admit it's pricey but you get what you pay for! read more

I was there in the very early evening when fresh pizza was coming out of the oven. at 2 slices for $5, I had to give it a try. it was superb!! Thin, crispy crust; tasty sauce, perfectly melted cheese (not too oily) and the price was just right! it was nice to see their pizza menu and know that there are many options available to order.
