I'm so glad I found Meadow Farm Equipment!…read more For me owning a house in the Berkshires has meant lots of yard, garden, and driveway work. Once I got a truck, I found myself coming here several times a week to purchase mulch, driveway mix, gravel, compost, topsoil. They also sell chainsaws, weedwackers, and leaf blowers (they are official Stihl, Husqvarna, and Echo dealers). The mulch, compost, and top soil I picked up from them was great quality! The best I have seen from anywhere! Even better, their prices are great and they deliver! The customer service is great! I've worked the most with, Alex and Jen, if I arrive at 7:01am or 4:55pm they are always fast, pleasant, courteous, and professional. The staff has been super knowledgeable about their products. When I went in to look at a new chainsaw Alex asked me a bunch of questions to better understand my needs before making recommendations. (The prices were very competitive to what I've seen at big box stores.) I had them repair my weedwacker, they did the work quickly (called me to let me know it was ready) and it works better than ever. FYI, it seems like they repair pretty much everything, sharpen chainsaw blades, and work on lawn mowers and tractors.

They are knowledgeable about their products and have a wide selection of replacement parts for your yard equipment. We got a few yards of dirt and organic compost one year. There were a few things in the compost I wouldn't consider organic - wire, plastic... check out a higher grade compost in a bag for vegetable gardens. The prices were fair and delivery was fast. Their location is cool convenient right on 102 but the end of the drive could use some fill in the pot holes. Drive slowly. We go back because they are locally owned and like to support our community. One thing I've learned since moving from the west coast is - northeast customer service is not the same as west coast or southern hospitality.

If you live in Woodstock or happen to be there on a Wednesday between June and the end of October,…read moredo yourself a favor and take a stroll through the Woodstock Farm Festival between 3:30 and dusk. Actually, if you live here you are probably cursing me right now in hippie speak because you have been coming here for 20 years.* Actually, if you live here, you probably aren't looking up your favorite farmer's market on Yelp so I'll just have at it. In 12-15 vendors or so you will find everything that you need to eat healthy and well. From meat to vegetables to fruit to other more savory items (pie, honey), you can easily do your shopping for the week sans beverages. It's an extremely friendly and community oriented atmosphere, accepting of anyone who wants to partake in the festivities. As a side to the market on Maple St., there is a flea market area where there are also food vendors, tents and picnic tables to enjoy your food and some live music. If you are lucky, you will even get to witness some dancing that has probably been going on here since the actual Woodstock. Get a couple tacos from Black Eyed Suzies and do yourself a big favor and get some pretzel bread from that nice lady with the pretzel stand. If you really want to treat yourself, get a chocolate filled pretzel croissant. Actually, get three and send me one...or all three. With Woodstock not full of too much to do at night, this market that spills over into the evening is the perfect opportunity to eat, shop, mingle with the locals and enjoy the cross section of Woodstock that makes it such a relaxing and inviting place to spend some time. _____________ *Sorry.

From flowers to soaps, vegetables to donuts, fruit to teas, knives to artisan creations, tie-dye…read moret-shirts to smoothies and chili dogs, the South Windsor Farmers Market has it all!! Set in the open Nevers Road Park, this market offers a variety local goods and a fun morning. When my friends and I walked over from nearby parking areas (which were plentiful and easy to get to), the smells of freshly cooked donuts from Faddy's Donut Shop and the sounds of a Grateful Dead tribute band met us. After grabbing some donuts, instead of sitting in the nice rest area set up near the band, we began down the line of stands. We found a little of everything we wanted and more!! We grabbed a couple slices of pie from Granny's Pie Factory, a brown butter dark chocolate chip cookie from LaBrioche Bakery, a couple of jars of homemade artisan teas from Whole Harmony, and a bouquet of freshly picked flowers from the Syme Family Farm. Shopping here can get a bit pricey, for example, a South Windsor Farmers Market tote bag was $5; however, you're supporting local businesses, many of which don't have storefronts. It's well worth chipping in a few extra bucks with the quality of the goods and the personal attention you receive at the stands. I would rather save my money and spend it here than at big chain stores that don't need it. Every vendor we went to, especially the individuals at the Syme Family Farm and the Whole Harmony stands, were extremely kind and helpful. The vendor of Whole Harmony allowed us to try a couple of teas he had out as well as the lavender lemonade (all of which were extremely delicious); he also told me how to properly steep the teas and gave me a loyalty card that offers a free jar after ten purchases. The vendors at the Syme Family Farm stand told me how they handpicked each flower, and wrapped up my bouquet--which was thoughtfully put together with care--and put it in a plastic baggie with wet paper towels around the stems to keep the flowers hydrated after I asked if they would be all right since we were not going directly home. I was very impressed by these two vendors' professionalism and kindness. The South Windsor Farmers Market is definitely a farmers market you need to check out!! It's open every Saturday in the morning (which is an extremely convenient and great time) from the middle of June until the middle of October. The organization running also has a list of what vendors will be there each week on a document on the website. You'll really enjoy every minute of being at this market, and you will undoubtedly find spectacular goods!!
