When checking out we were forced into paying for 18 holes, he was insisting we had the time. Even though we only wanted to do 9 holes, because this was my first time. However, when we got out there we had to wait on other groups, fine/expected. Hole 3 was closed, ok. Several holes were flooded and not labeled well. I understand it rained a few days ago. But between waiting on others, holes not playable, and having to rush the cart back... we only got to play 12 holes. Bonus, there was a group of young adults jumping from hole to hole making people wait while they would hit 10 balls each. Honestly, if someone wants to play 9 holes, they should be able to.

Instead of a full axe-throwing venue, there's now only one axe lane left. The rest of the space is mostly golf simulators and a cigar bar. Even though the cigar area is technically sectioned off, the smoke smell seeps through the entire bar and makes the atmosphere unpleasant. It was really disappointing to plan a night of axe throwing and find out on arrival that it's basically a golf/cigar lounge with a single token axe lane. If you're looking for a true axe-throwing experience, this is no longer the place.

The path goes around the park and is .9 miles. There is plenty of parking. There are several baseball diamonds, a soccer field and a playground. It is usually pretty clean. However, it seams that quite a few people don't like picking up after their pet. My only criticism would be that the park would benefit from a few garbage cans right by the path so people will pick up after their pets.

The good things about Etowah park is that there is a track that I will walk around sometimes, several good tennis courts, a golf driving range up the hill, and a small playground with swings and a couple of slides. There is also a short trail that runs through the woods with a couple of bridges. The bad things about Etowah, there is a little skate park that seems to attract seedy, obnoxious teenagers who smoke and cuss no matter who is around including young children. Also, part of the track that my son would ride his bike on runs right beside Wilshire Rd. and I don't really like that for several reasons. We go here sometimes, it's just not our favorite park, Ridgeferry is much better.

Only a couple minutes away from the bustle of 278, you'll feel secluded but safe on the multi-use paths. With only slight inclines/declines you'll have an easy ride/run/walk in either direction. You could go for miles and miles, so check your GPS during your out-and-back trip. Negatives might be the slight boredom from the return trip, and the multi-use concrete trails aren't as friendly for the foot-travelers. Those looking to hit some PRs will enjoy the straight flat roads though, and otherwise you'll be satisfied with the access from the Hiram lot.

This trail is one of my favorite trails in GA as it is fairly flat most of the way and the canopy of trees along the way keeps you at least 10 degrees cooler. Great place for some outdoor exercise.
