The course is challenging however VERY poorly maintained and managed. The greens were like putting in a sand trap. Weeds throughout the greens and fairways were SO BAD. Management could use a course on being more friendly.... I played it, will never go back. read more

Absolutely the WORST golf experience I've ever had. I came here with three other friends, all of us active-duty military, expecting a relaxing day of golf, but instead, we were treated with nothing but disrespect from the staff. While the course itself is in great condition, it was completely overshadowed by the rude and unprofessional behavior we encountered. We were on the 6th hole when a staff member came up to us and rudely accused us of taking too long. Excuse me? We paid for a full 18-hole round, and yet we were harassed mid-play as if we were doing something wrong. For reference, we were keeping a normal pace of play--absolutely no delays. This level of hostility from the staff is completely unacceptable. It was so bad that we left after the 9th hole because we couldn't tolerate their attitude any longer. We essentially wasted money on a full round that we didn't even finish because of how poorly we were treated. It's beyond frustrating to pay good money to play golf only to be harassed and disrespected. If you're considering this course, don't. Take your money elsewhere to a course where they actually value their customers. This place doesn't deserve your time or money. I would NEVER recommend this course to anyone, especially not fellow service members. Absolutely disgraceful. read more

Took my son and a friend of his to play this course, as i had played it a few times years ago. i am a 6 Hdcp. and my son and his friend are just getting into the game, they are probably 20 Hdcp'ers at best. the staff was friendly, even with the 3 hour frost delay, got everyone out when they could and it didn't seem to cause any problems. for the course, i can say it wasn't in too bad of shape, tee boxes were flat and even, fairways were very good , if i wanted too, could have probably hit driver off the deck on a few of the holes. the greens were a completely different matter, every green we played was full weeds, holes and even divots full of sand, they were some of the worst greens i have ever seen. it was obvious that maintenance of the property has taken a nosedive since the new ownership arrived. the waterfall hole, which is an awesome sight to look at from the tee, is a disaster when you get close to the hole. you can no longer dive thru the tunnel and the rest of the area around the green was closed off and it was obvious that the pride the previous owners had did not transfer to the new group. i will not play there again, especially for the price. We played all 27 holes, and every green was exactly the same, TERRIBLE!! the condition of the course is a reflection of the management and the employees' and these folks could care less about return customers. to make matters worse the snack bar and golf shop closed before the actual course did, couldn't get a shirt or a hot dog at the end of the day. read more

I've been here a few times, the course is nice but the staff here makes the experience here NOT WORTH IT AT ALL! On 2 separate occasions the same gentleman was extremely rude and unprofessional, lying about what time carts had to be back, cutting my paid for round short just so he could get off work sooner. After confronting him about the situation to try to come to a solution on how to get another tee time or get my money back, he drives away in his cart mid conversation. After going back to talk to him he tells me his boss will give me a call, and even takes down my name and number (boss never calls i have to call her). Even after speaking to the manger i could tell that this golf range just doesn't value customer service and treating guest with basic respect, 0/10 would NOT recommend. read more

13 of us were there for an outing this past weekend, were told 3 weeks ago we would get a group rate, got there would not let us have it, my friend is 82 got a Senior rate of $60.50, I am 75 and got a Senior rate of $58.50 ???. The course is grossly over priced at $65.00, Staff very unfriendly, no sand in traps, what mowing was done was very minimal with big clumps every where, the ponds have a lot of Green Algae, maybe 3 greens were in good shape The others were terrible. I had played this Course several times years ago, when Mr Meadows owned it, and it was a great course with a lot of play. So good luck because I know of at least 13 players that WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

My second visit a bit better than the first. Joined by Ben, Dora and James for a super Saturday of golf. With all the rain, warm temps and sunshine the course was lush and green. The greens were in top condition and all were green except for one that had some dirt patches. Of course that's where my ball always lands. The Fairways were better than fair and much better than my last visit. This course has is laid out as a 27 hole ciourse with three nine hole courses. Today we played the Water Fall and the Longest Hole combined nines to get in our 18. The longest hole is 841 yards and par 6. an exceptional and challenging hole that will test your ability and approach stragey. An awesome weather day with family on the links. I did have word with the Manager about the 18th hole. The adjacent driving range has a tattered and worn net designed to keep balls off the 18th fairway but on this day, that area was littered with balls. Not very fun to search for your drive among a sea of balls that all look alike. He was receptiive and immediatley dispatched a team to shag the balls from that area. Ben & James were not happy that they couldn't play their excellent drives. He did say they had budgeted for a higher net to be installed this year. I would caution against playing that hole until ithat net is installed. read more

My husband has been going here for about a year now and we have never had an issue till today. I went with him and another couple. With it being warm out we parked the carts half on the cart path and half under a tree for shade because we brought our 4 month old and the other girl we were with is 7 months pregnant. We just wanted a little shade and we weren't in anyones way (reminder not fully off the path!) a worker came up to us and told us we have to keep the carts fully on the path as our husbands are swinging and he wanted us to move them right away. I was holding our 4 month old so of course im not moving the cart and he said 'i can just take the keys' like come on we are just trying to enjoy our Saturday morning with the family. After that he came up to us again at hole 7 with the same problem. Again we were parked 2 wheels on the path and 2 in the grass in a little shade. I don't understand what his problem was with us. The girls and the baby ended up leaving because we just wanted the boys to have fun since this worker wasn't leaving us alone. Ruining our family Saturday morning. read more

It was my first time visiting, I went with 2 other friends during a rainy day. Great course and the customer service was extraordinary. My buddy lost his a club many years back at this course and the gentlemen at the counter offered him to search for it. Even though, we decided to not look through the lost and found I felt very welcomed at the course. The course was well maintained and they had plenty of holes for all skill levels. WARNING: absolutely no safety steps are being done for current pandemic. (Well, they did cut some noodles up and put around flag sticks to keep ball from dropping in on 50% of the holes. ) yes. Multiple missing even on something this basic. Are they limiting number of patrons in club house at a time.....NO! Are they properly sanitizing carts between gofers rounds......NO! Do they encourage golfers to ride one person per cart for proper social distancing......NO! (This is actually the worst offense. Even when you have three people that drove separate cars to be responsible meadows EXPECTS you to ride together. You can PURCHASE a extra cart for the sum of $10 each golfer ($30). Even when one golfer indicated he would walk then they wanted to charge $10 for the remaining two to be able to ride separately even though all three paid for 18 holes and a cart. Yes you read that right. Talk about trying to make every dime you can. Even the starter and help (two others) were gathered around a 8' folding table exchanging slips of paper between them selfs and patrons. The argument of carts was all about availability and profitability. Not being able to get as many golfers on the course as possible. And boy were they doing that. 2:20 min to play 9 holes. Waiting on every hole and shot. Meadows put as many people on the course as possible and charged for the luxury to properly social distance if you were so inclined. Strictly for profit operation. No safety protocols. And if I didn't have my own sanitizing wipes, sanitizer etc to properly go through the cart ahead of time along with being with two other guys that follow same protocols we would of left. (Which we did after 9 holes because of how overloaded they jammed the course up). By the way we all drove separate cars 20 miles even though we live within 100 yards of each other. read more

Since the takeover the course has really gone downhill. Landscape is overgrown; erosion on all areas of water; free for all; very chaotic; no direction from the starter. The bunkers are more like potholes. There seems to be no maintenance at all during peak season. Lara Dotson is rude and acts as if you are beneath her. I would never be back. read more

This is by far one of the best maintained and priced courses in northern Virginia. My only 2 gripes are the lack of a regular beer cart, and their starters attitude. But all that aside I still love to play here and do so about once a month. They have 3 awesome 9 hole courses (island, waterfall, and the longest yard) including the longest hole in the US. prices range from $40ish in the off season to $60ish on holidays with an average of $110 for 2 people to play 18 with a cart. Would definitely recommend unless they're having a tournament that day. read more

Terrible experience playing golf. Extremely high rough and very slow greens. It looked like the bunkers hadn't been touch in months and very little sand in them. The new management company hasn't done anything to improve the course since taking over. This was my third visit to Meadows Farms in the last several years on golf trips to Fredericksburg, Va area. I love the course layout but condition this time was bad. In addition nearby sister course Southern Farms is a joke and even in worse condition. read more

Meadows Farms Golf Course - Golf Near Me - Locust Grove, Virginia

I had seen this course online and noticed that the It had 27 holes. One has a warm-up hole so you get 10 holes. Another has a long par 6 at 700+ yards that I wanted to try. Since it was only 2 hours away, we decided to make the drive, and it was well worth it! We started off on the Waterfall course, so named for a kick ass waterfall on one of the holes. It was being repaired when we played, but Im betting it looked really nice when running. This 9 holes was pretty fun and the course was in pretty good shape. Next we played the Longest course. This one had the big ass par 6. I was expecting a long straight hole, but was surprised when there are 2 ponds in play, which really got me. Even with royally sucking on that hole, I enjoyed the entire 9 holes. Similar conditions as the first 9. Finally, we hit the Island course. So named for the island green on one hole. This 9 actually has 10 holes, so you get a warm-up hole before the first one. I really like that idea!!!! Anyway, this 9 hole was just as fun as the other 9!! Some of the holes can use a little TLC on the tee boxes, but its not anything major. One hole is a baseball stadium, but they need to work on the field in front of the green to make it look really cool and highlight the neat feature. Overall, the course was an absolute blast to play. They have some big greens with some difficult putts, some features in the rough (moguls and washboard hills) on some holes to break the monotony of the average flat hole. I really don't have anything bad to say about it. The folks working there were very friendly and fun to chat with. Also, they have a house they rent out there (3 bedroom, 2 bath... or something like that) that they rent out. It has unlimited golf and they let you take the carts with you so its an easy trip to play unlimited golf. The prices for green fees were very reasonable, especially if you get the after 2 twilight rate. I think we played around $35 for 18 holes, and $14 more for the final 9. Well worth the price!!!! If you are looking for a fun day on the course, make sure to check out this course, you wont regret it!!!! read more

I was actually very suprised by the current conditions of the club. It was much better than I expected. The greens and fairway is in pretty fair shape. Playable condition. However, they need to work on the tee box, bunkers, and the fringes. The only reason I played here is because of the par 6 (about 840 yards) hole. it is worth playing here atleast once. I doubt i will go back because of the drive but i suggest playing the par 6 hole. The course is not difficult. 27 hole course. Play the waterfall and longest course. The island course is not really worth playing. Without really trying you can get some good scores. Fairly easy course. read more

I want it to be known that this review is not a reflection of course or staff, but more so how some of the staff have allowed a certain individual to remain a member there. A total of six of us were playing, keep in mind we are far from good golfers, when we had an encounter with an older gentleman around hole four. This gentleman advised us we had to keep up with the other golfers. He also told one of the golfers, who he saw using our clubs, you know they have clubs at the club house. Completely unaware of why we sharing clubs. So we moved along to the next hole to see him drive up to our tee and sit there in his cart. This carried on for three straight holes. When I finally asked him if there was an issue he said we had to keep up with everyone else. I advised him we were not good but were allowing other groups to play through in order to not hold anyone up. This is when he stated this was his golf course and he was the owner. He also told me that we had to hurry along because there was a tournament going on. After repeating to him numerous times we are doing our best to keep up with the othwr teams as well as for him to stop following kids around, he left. Later on we found out a group, 2 spots behind us, was approached by him and he told them he was the golf course Marshall. We were supposed to play 18 holes but decided to request a refund. The staff at the course was very accommodating and sorry for the experience. One of the staff asked for me to describe him and that this is when they told us the gentleman's name was Jimmy George. We.found out he is simply a volunteer. We were also told, when asked why is he allowed to remain here, we were told it was because he has been a member for so long. It was made evident to us that we have not been the only ones to complain about Mr George. I thank the meadows staff for helping with the situation, however, until Mr. Jimmy George is removed, we will not return. My question to the staff is how do you allow someone, member or not, to remain there is there are complaints against him. Please rectify this as soon as you all can. read more

A real find of a golf course! I hadn't heard about Meadows Farms until I checked at Yelp...and boy am I glad I found it! Challenging layout with a ton of interesting and beautiful holes. There's an island green hole, the longest hole in the USA (seriously google it), and a man made waterfall that Trump would be proud of. Condition was good in general. Greens were great (fast, smooth, and lots of break). Fairways were Bermuda and in very good condition. Tee boxes could use some work (hard and not in great condition). That was the only negative though...everything else was really really good. read more

Me and the boys has a GOOD time! In from out of town this weekend and I played the "Longest" nine with my two sons this weekend. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and super nice. Course was in great shape and the greens were fair and ran true. Some really interesting holes and the provided a reasonable challenge from both tee boxes we played (dad played the whites, boys played the reds). The boys even got some great swing tips from the ranger. I would defiantly play here again and would recommend to anyone looking to play a fun, reasonably challenging track that won't break the bank! read more

The course is made of three ninehole layouts with differing degrees of difficulty. There is one unique scenario on the island green layout where the Farmer starts you off with a warm up hole that does not count towards your total score. If you can start your round of golf on that nine I would recommend it. The waterfall hole is definitely an easier nine than the Longest hole nine, and sometimes you can pick and choose the two nines you want to play. My golf buddy and I played there last week and we will probably be back there again this week if weather permits. All in all I would say the course is in the best condition that it has been in since the new management team took over. Its not a championship course and was never intended to be that, but it is a fun place to play and there are challenging holes for most players. read more

I hadn't played here in 20 years because of the distance from Centreville but that will certainly change in the future as we had a fabulous experience at Meadow Farms! We played all 3 nines and found all of them to be very interesting and the course was in great shape --- especially the fairways and greens. There were several holes with forced carries over water that were especially fun and the signature par 841 yard par 6 has a lot more to it than just distance. The staff was very friendly and laid back and the pro shop has nice clothing for much cheaper prices than most. I've played a lot of golf at a lot of courses over the years and the experience here ranks near the top of my list. read more

Loved the island shots and the great mix of challenging holes. The big disappointment is that we played on dead grass all 18 holes. The grass goes dormant in the winter so it was like hitting off sand. Just horrible! They should let people who book tee times know how bad the fairways are. This course was a blast. I'm a low handicap golfer, I played the Longest 9 and the Waterfall 9, I was challenged and had an absolute blast. One thing j will say, my buddy and I started off by ourselves on the longest 9 and at the turn they threw two hackers into our group. They slowed the pace of play down so much that in 4 holes we had to say, "Sayonara." Thanks, Chubby Starter. We then finished out our round. Played there yesterday for the first time in about 15 years. I recognize that it has been a hot and long summer season without much rain. But the course was really not in very good shape. 1. Tees were very spotty. Some of them were awful. Greens were not very good at all - most of them looked like they were recent aerated, but since that usually happens in the spring, I assume they just haven't grown in. Fringes and collars were really bad -most were dead with crabgrass taking over. 2. Most of the "gimmicks' - the baseball field, the waterfall, the house and so forth, looked old and lacking maintenance. My recollection from 15 years ago was that the baseball field actually looked like one - the infield was laid out at least fairly nicely, with the green in center field. Now, the infield is just a vaguely defined sand trap between the tee and the green. 3. On the plus side, the people were very, very nice, and friendly, and they are flexible with tee times and so forth. And the prices were very low. We paid about $25 after an online coupon we found for 18 and cart. So based on that price, it is hard to complain I guess. It really appears the they just don't have that much money to spend on the place - I feel bad, because I like the folks and it seems like it should be a fun course. Stopped by Meadows Farms on the way home from DC Saturday afternoon. The course has never been in better shape. The fairways, which used to be rather thin even when in top shape, are among the best I've played in Virginia. I'm no kind of superintendent - I don't know what goes into growing grass, but I kind of dislike Bermuda grass fairways and I believe that in previous years the best Meadows Farms did was overseed their Bermuda with Rye. If I'm right, the Bermuda is somehow gone now, and what is in its place is an outstanding dense grass surface which is a delight to hit off of. The tees were in poor shape - many (most?) look like they'd mistakenly over-fertilized...massively. But in hindsight, I wonder if they aren't in the process of killing off the Bermuda on the tees now. In any case, something wonderful has happened this year with the grounds keeping. When the tees come back this will be a five star course. read more
