I went with two friends on a Thursday afternoon and one of my friends went directly to the brewery on site 1781 Brewing Company (sister company to the winery) and got their Octoberfest and said it was excellent. My other friend and I decided to do a tasting. There are multiple choices of tastings depending on what types of wines you usually prefer. My friend and I each chose different ones and the very friendly and knowledgeable pourer, Victoria, was able to change it up a bit swapping one wine for another to accommodate our preferences. All of the wines were fantastic! Every single one. The labels are fun and beautiful too which really makes them great hostess gifts! I can't say enough good things about Victoria. She was so friendly and knowledgeable and fun and told us about each wine, the property, the animals on the property... Really anything we asked about! The property itself is great, there are so many seating areas, some shaded and some in the sun, a beautiful Koi pond, chickens and peacocks walking around. Just a really cool place. And they were having a reggae festival on the weekend. (We had gone to their Celtic festival back in 2020 before covid really hit and it was fun). I highly recommend a visit, guaranteed you'll return, I know I will!

I have been here quite a few times! For different events; bachelorette party, fair/vendors and live music, animals to watch (chickens (IN the coop/fence not running around) horses, koi pond... tons of space outside for private parties, still very open to wandering. There is also a large tasting room with bathrooms: fills quick during events. If you or friends want something from the tap house (1781 Brewery) is just on the other side of the building. Cigar house on site as well. All in all, great spot. They keep up on their socials on what trucks and bands.

Wifey, my daughter and I had some free time this afternoon and decided to give this winery and brewery a shot - it was great. During this COVID mess we've been trying to just try new things when we can and this was a way to mix it up. Wifey and daughter had wine (cab-merlot blend and a rosé) and I had the Octoberfest. Prices were a little high and I would REALLY have liked for them to offer flights so I could have tasted more of their beers, but we loved the ambiance and the wine and beer was very tasty. Horses to pet, chickens and ducks walking around, two food trucks (we would have loved to try these, but weren't hungry), and lots of shade to keep you out of the sun. Place seems to be open for birthday parties too. On a perfect fall day, it's a perfect place to hang

What's not to love about this place? A brewery, winery, cigar house, food truck, and farm, oh my! This place has it all. Hubby and I came here to scope out the scene and ended up staying a lot longer than expected because of all the awesomeness this place has to offer. Upon arrival, you first enter the courtyard where the brewery is on the left and the cigar house is on the right. Walk farther in, you'll find the winery behind the brewery. It was a beautiful sunny day and there were plenty of outdoor seating available. Super family friendly with a band playing and plenty of open space for kids to run around. There was a small playground and a short trail for fun too. At the winery, I had a sample of the peach wine (which was too sweet for my pallet) and oculum, which is their popular white wine. Ended up having a glass of ocuilum and a frose (frozen rose); both were very good @$8 per glass. Was a bit surprised when I saw my receipt with sampling charge of $1 for the 2 tasting. No big deal as it was cheap, but still would've been nice for the lady to tell me first. Regardless, it was a wonderful time here. We didn't have any food from the food truck this time, but plan on coming back again. P.S. They have a 21+ only seating area with nice garden and fish pond by the brewery. Definitely Zen and worth checking out!

It's not a bad place to meet up to socialize and grab a couple drinks. There is a lot of potential but it fell short in many areas. Pros: - Food truck with decent food - A lot of tables available - Variety of sitting areas (cigar lounge and brewery up front, side tables, patio, lawn tables) - Nice to have location in Fredericksburg Cons: - Live music is very short and they only sometimes have music on the speaker. This would help the ambience especially on a weekend night - Tables are throw haphazardly. Most are on a slope when there are a lot of other options available - No table umbrellas available, even on the patio. We came on a Friday at 2 and every table on the patio was empty because of the blazing sun and no shade. A pergola or table umbrellas would make it more welcoming - limited selection of wine If I could give this half stars, I would say 3.5 stars with a lot of room for improvement!

A Harvest Host member and was looking for a fun overnight spot on a trip to fish on the Chesapeake Bay with friends (my wife had to work so I was making this trip solo.) I'd passed this place many times driving between NoVA and C'ville and had always wanted to check it out. Suffice to say, it was idyllic. Checked in and was impressed by how much outdoor seating there was, all arranged nicely. Sampled some wine and bought a couple of bottles, a local craft beer, and a nice cigar. The food truck wasn't open, but I was encouraged to order delivery straight to the winery. I elected to retire to the camper and watch the sunset as I settled in beside the vines and enjoyed my cigar. Awoke to roosters crowing in the distance and a deep sense of satisfaction for deciding to give this place a look. Whether you're looking for an awesome Harvest Host spot, or just a great winery to visit, this place is a winner.

This is not a true vineyard it's a wine bar!! Also their service is terrible. I looked up the winery online to see what types of wine they offered, before heading there with one of my friends. Online they advertise 7 of their own wines, 3 of which I was excited to try. We get to the "vineyard" and grab a seat in the wine barn structure around 1:45. After being ignored for almost 20 minutes, the server comes over at 2:02pm and says that they don't do tastings after 2:00pm on Sundays, but "as a courtesy" she would do a tasting for us. So courteous. It took her forever to even start the tasting, as she chatted with a couple already drinking wine for about 10 minutes before even heading to grab our glasses. We were mostly ignored except when the server walked by to give us tiny pours and say the name of the wine in passing, as she started tastings for four other people, despite the fact that it was 2:30pm by this point. The tasting consists completely of wines from other vineyards! I asked about the wine advertised online and the server rudely told me "they're not out yet. You can tell because the price isn't listed with the wine on the website." I didn't realize the wine wasn't out as the website made no indication of that. I didn't even notice there weren't prices listed for the wines until she pointed it out, but honestly the website doesn't provide any pricing. Not even for the tasting! Overall the "vineyard" itself is cute enough, although small. But the wine is from other Vineyards and the service is very very poor. I would recommend just going to a wine bar in town rather than driving all the way to Spotsy for this.

This place was super cute. I like the outdoor set up they had for customers. It was so farm-y watching the roosters walk around and seeing the barn. The live music was good, but a little loud for my taste. It was a hot evening and the wine slushy really hit the spot. I'm a dry wine person, but thought it was delicious. I also tried a Cabernet that was recommended to me and cannot complain at that at all. It was quite yummy. The staff were helpful and extremely knowledgeable. They have a cigar area, which I thought was unique. I also love that they had food trucks. Being on land in the middle of nowhere, there isn't food to walk to so this was convenient. The Mexican food truck was delicious. I'd come back here again.

Our best stay yet as Harvest Host members. We loved Wilderness Run Vineyards and their 1781 Brewery, both offered fabulous vintages and brews. We left with a case of the Table Red. They also offer a cozy indoor outdoor cigar lounge, with an extensive selection. The immaculately kept estate has plenty of outdoor seating, an outdoor stage for live music, outdoor kids play sets with market lights everywhere, creating amazing ambiance as the sun sets. There are also farm animals and horses that welcome being pet and fawned over. Did I mention rotating food trucks? Offering delicious options. We found the staff to be very welcoming, professional and friendly. We appreciated the thought to detail with clear instructions about what was not allowed on the grounds and that it is dog and kid friendly. We will absolutely be recommending Wilderness Run and returning to enjoy this "one stop shop" winery. Thank you for sharing your property, wines and brewery with us!

Wilderness Run Vineyards is a wonderful treat in Spotsylvania. A very simple, hometown-feel winery that gives you the option of a brewery or a winery, all in one place. I have visited several different wineries here, in North Carolina, and in California, and most border on pretentious (if not completely outright snobby), but Wilderness Run makes you feel like you're relaxing with good friends. The winery is very easy to find, located right off of Route 3, and the parking is plentiful. One side of the barn is the 1781 brewery, and the other side is the winery. I noticed signage for a cigar/tobacco company as well. We arrived on a Thursday evening after work. The winery offers hours that accommodate people that work during the week, which is great! I haven't found any other wineries in the area that stay open later than 6pm. The winery sits on a significant amount of land, so there is no shortage of seating areas and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The winery offers a decent selection of wines, as well as 2 that are made on the grounds. Even though we wanted to try the wines, we decided on a bottle of their hard cider, Dr. Penningbottom. It is one of the beverages brewed on site and it was delicious and refreshing, especially on a hot Virginia evening. There was a stage area for live music, and a food truck. They host a lot of different events on the weekends that I definitely intent to return for. The staff was extremely friendly, the cost wasn't bad, and the views were amazing. Definitely will be returning.

Wilderness Run is a different kinda grape than most other VA wineries. When I visited they only had 2 of their own wines bottled - the rest were 'partner' wines from other VA wineries. The selection they had was decent, but it definitely wasn't your 'typical' wine experience. The location is pretty - and spacious. They are a working farm, including horses and other farm animals. When I visited they were totally packed for Mother's Day, but apparently being busy isn't an unusual occurrence. I expect them to get even busier now that they opened a brewery on the premises. Lots of tables both bottles and beer glasses, so there's something for everyone. They even had a cigar smoking area! The one thing that DIDN'T have enough of was bathrooms - but they should have porta-potties soon. They currently have 2 estate wines, but by this fall 2 more should be ready to be served. The 2014 Merlot was aged 28 months in French Oak; I'd say it was kinda complex with some red fruit at the same time. The "Pink Chair" Rose was made with Concord grapes; it tasted like alcoholic grape juice. In the past they had an easy-drinking red called "Tool Shed Red", but it wasn't available when I visited. I didn't dislike any of them, but didn't buy any bottles. The vista is great, and you have a ton of drinking options. I'd totally recommend them for a picnic. I'll probably wait another year though, when they have more estate wines.

Karla was there with a warm smile to greet us, and the Sunday breakfast was spectacular - if you're there for it, take small bites because more and more food just keeps arriving and you'll regret filling up on bread and pastries early on! Because we had our pooch with us, we stayed in the barn loft. It was very quiet (you can't hear or smell the horses at all), and had the upper apartment. It was very clean, very spacious, and a comfortable quiet getaway. Leave the windows open to listen to crickets all night long. Though I completely understand why they must have the rule, it's hard to see so much open land and have to keep your dog leashed all of the time. Our poor pooch just wanted to stretch her city legs in the grass and there are not paths to walk around in the woods on the immediate property. There are various vineyards and wineries near by (that allow dogs), and a 20 minute drive from several town hubs for dinner. The only criticism I can think of was that the food was all so incredibly delicious, but the coffee was not very good at breakfast. The high caliber of the meal just demands the compliment of french pressed coffee with high quality beans! And yes, as you guessed it, the cheesecake was divine!

Tables are reserved for 2.5 hours, so I assume the party before us didn't use their full time. We ordered an appetizer and a bottle of wine. The brie cake was delicious--even for someone who doesn't usually like goat cheese (it was layered in)--but unfortunately, no one in our group enjoyed the cheesecake. The winery is both dog- and kid-friendly. All the parents we encountered kept their children supervised, which is a winery rule and one I really appreciate now that we have kids ourselves. Most of the dogs were also very well behaved, though one was repeatedly growling at passing dogs, which was off-putting. While the winery can't control every patron, we choose to leave our dog at home when she's not in a social mood, and it would be nice if all dog owners did the same.

Not a single table was available. Instead, there were rows of empty tables with RESERVED signs on them, apparently reserved for ghosts, because no one sat at them for 2+ hours. Meanwhile, groups of people, including us, circled the patio like vultures waiting for a table to finally open. The oyster pop-up bar had a line wrapping around the patio like people were waiting for Taylor Swift concert tickets instead of shellfish. There are small campfire setups around the outside area. But in 69°F full sun with a gentle breeze, you'd think no one would use them. Wrong. The whole side patio and hill area turned into a smoky campsite, with diners getting smoked out and leaving. On top of that, we had to fend off a rotating cast of unattended children. Kids wandered around like they were in an unsupervised theme park. One repeatedly tried sticking their hands in our dog's face while she was calmly chewing on a bone outside like a civilized creature. We ended up disciplining other people's children just so our dog could exist without being harassed. Food (4/5): We ordered the Nduja Sausage and Ricotta Pizza ($26), a red sangria pitcher ($40), a red sangria glass ($12), and the s'mores cookie tray ($10 for 3 cookies). The pizza was delicious, but the crust was so thin and flimsy it needed structural reinforcement. I used part of the previous slice to smear the ricotta around to get a balanced bite each time. The sangria was great, but $40 for 4 1/3 full glasses of wine felt disappointing. It's sangria, not liquid gold. The cookies were good, but for $10, 3 cookies should at least come with hot cocoa. Service (4/5): The lines were out the door. That is not the staff's fault. This place is popular, and the food is great. While I waited the 15 minute line to order, I reviewed the menu, dodged tiny children, and stepped away from random dogs on leashes inside the establishment trying to jump on me. It felt like a low-stakes obstacle course. When I got to the counter, I placed my order quickly. The bartender whipped the screen around with such precision and stared me down during the tip prompt like I was making a morally questionable decision. I pressed "No Tip" (listen. I stood in a line, picked up my own order, and bussed my own table) and his face shifted from "happy to help you" to "you have personally wronged me and my ancestors" in seconds. After tapping through 5+ different prompts, he told me to set a timer on my phone for 10 to 15 minutes and go to a different building to pick up my pizza. Finding this second building required me to use my nose like a bloodhound, following the faint scent of pizza through crowds until I finally tracked it down.

I visited Morais Vineyards for the first time yesterday to celebrate a dear friend's birthday, and…read moreI truly didn't know what to expect since I had never heard of it before. From the moment we arrived, I was completely blown away. As we parked and walked toward the field--with gazebos and a dock with seating--I immediately noticed how kid-friendly the vineyard is. The playground setup was incredibly creative and perfect for sparking a child's imagination. I honestly wish I had known ahead of time because I would have brought my little one! The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There were horses roaming around, which added such a peaceful charm. As we explored, I kept noticing thoughtful and unique touches everywhere--from a stunning wine tree to large decorative clay pots, and even buildings designed to resemble a Greek town that house classic cars. It all made the experience feel extra special. There was a wedding taking place, so part of the property was closed off, but it was easy to see how perfect this venue would be for an intimate "I do." Inside the main building, they offered a great selection of food, an impressive wine list available by the glass, bottle, or flight, and hands down the best wine slush I've ever had. My only critique is that it seemed like the AC wasn't working inside, and I really felt for the bartenders who were working so hard as it got busier throughout the day. Overall, I absolutely loved this place. It's one of the few spots that truly caters to both adults and children, and I'll definitely be back.

Very nice tasting experience. Gorgeous grounds. Large tasting room with ample seating…read more 2 tasting options, wine flights or wine by the glass or bottle. Tastings come with a small snack plate of cheese, meats crackers and chocolate. Wines are primarily Portugal varietals. We enjoyed most of the wines we tried and bought a few bottles as well. We will stop in again My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)

We did the rent for one of my good friends birthdays and it was the cutest birthday experience…read moreever! My favorite wines in the tasting: White Petit Manseng 2024 10/10 La Belle Vie Rose 2023 9/10 Sauvignon blanc 2023 8/10 La Belle Vie White 2024 9/10 Red Abbinato 2022 9/10 Coyote cave 9/10 (bolder than abbinato) Merlot 2023 8/10 (very light and pleasant) Petit Verdit 2019 We ended up going with the petit manseng it's sweet but not overly sweet. Extremely good, like a moscato. The food: The burger 15/10 The crab dip 9/10 Grilled Cheese 8/10 Dessert: Wine cakes 50/10 SOOO WORTH IT! I believe the tent comes with one of the charcuterie boards - Le Grand Cru Platter. I honestly thought it was alright, not the best sprays I've had and the bread was hard. I'd give it a 7/10. The winery cakes were PHENOMENAL!!!!!! I was IN LOVE. They apparently soak it for many hours in their wine. I highly recommend it! Both the strawberry and vanilla one was great, but I really enjoyed the strawberry cake. Apparently you have to order 3 days in advance. The tent was actually pretty warm if you kept it zipped up. There were two heaters in the tent. I think we got the tent for 12 people, but it comfortably fit 10 people. Overall I highly recommend this winery, I would TOTALLY come back !
