I hadn't planned on going to this playground, heck, I had never heard of it before... But, our plans to head to the zoo got foiled by the massive lines from the free Senior day. So, I opened Yelp, searched for playground, and this beauty popped up. Yelp, you saved the day, yet again! The little kids side (2-5) is unique, but in a positive way. I feel like most little kids areas are the same basic=boring setup. It sorta reminded me of the old woman who lived in a shoe, with a sloped roofline and misshapen/unbalanced look. This area had ringing music notes, a track to run little cars/balls down, a crawling tube, a spinning giant glass marble, on top of the slides, climbing ladders, etc. Plus, there was a dedicated little kids swing set, with two toddler swings, two regular swings, and then the much loved yet hard to find toddler/parent combo swing!!! The big kids side includes a four seat seesaw, an accessible swaying "boat", multiple climbing walls, a standing gravity spinner, five slides, "concessions stand", a dedicated big kids swing set with accessible swing, and more. All of this included old shade trees, overlooked the diamond, and was a short walk from the bathrooms. Kudos to West Allis for installing a truly great and unique playground.

It is about 7 acres of green space, a children's play area with a few swings and slides, a basketball court with one basket and a few picnic tables and benches scattered around the park. There is a walking (asphalt) path around the outside of the park that measure .38 miles around. It is a fairly quiet park, but can get quite a few people during the Summer months. Mainly people walking their dogs and a few people enjoying the play area with their kids. Just a cozy little park to get outside and enjoy the outdoors! They do plow the walkway around the park in Winter, but I am sure it is when they can get to it.

The conditions created by this event were completely out of character for our neighborhood and inappropriate for a small city park. The large crowds, excessive noise, and overall level of disruption had a significant impact on nearby residents and families. Of particular concern was the volume of traffic moving through our neighborhood. Numerous vehicles were speeding on residential streets, creating dangerous conditions for children, pedestrians, and families. The situation raised serious safety concerns for those who live in the area. I was also unable to bring my children to the park because of the environment that had developed there. The park was crowded with adults engaging in behavior that made it unsuitable for children, including loud music, profanity, smoking, and what appeared to be public intoxication. Public parks should remain safe and welcoming spaces for families, yet the atmosphere associated with this event prevented many residents from using the park as intended. In addition, I was surprised to learn that admission to the park required a $50 entrance fee, along with an additional $10 parking fee. As a Glendale resident, I have always understood Richard E. Maslowski Park to be a public park available for residents to enjoy. Being denied entry because I was unwilling or unable to pay these fees was frustrating and left me questioning how a public park could become inaccessible to the very residents whose tax dollars help support it. The person in charge, Terrell, was extremely rude and dismissive throughout our interaction. When I attempted to explain my concerns, he was unwilling to listen and did not give me an opportunity to be heard. His attitude made the experience more frustrating and left me feeling that my concerns were not take seriously. He is definitely not someone I would expect the city to have representing it. His behavior was unprofessional and did not reflect the level of courtesy and respect that Glendale residents should receive I urge the City to review the planning, permitting, security, traffic management, and enforcement measures associated with this event. Future events should be managed in a way that protects public safety, minimizes disruption to surrounding neighborhoods, and preserves reasonable access to public parks for Glendale residents.

This is an excellent park to take all ages of children. There is plenty of open space between the play areas for kids to run around, and the benches and picnic tables offer a chance to sit and share a snack or lunch. If you visit the park during the day, don't forget your sunscreen as there are no trees to provide shade. This is a great addition to the Glendale community, and as a resident, I'm looking forward to going more often to enjoy music, the beer garden, and, of course, more time with family.

The playground is titled 'Fort Cushing' and is an all wood structure, with primarily a mulch surface and a few minor spots with a rubber surface. Within the playground there are separated areas for the little kids side and the big kids side. The little kids side is fairly small, and consists of two slides, a sandpit, and a few swings. Safety note, the baby swings are crazy high off of the ground since the mulch has been worn down so much, so make sure your kiddo is secured as it would be a huge drop. The big kids side has a variety of slides, bridges, monkey bars, giant tires to climb through as well as a tire swing, and more. Note: The drop off of the covered twist slide also has a huge drop at the end from the worn down mulch. It's definitely a unique playground but if you have little kids you can't trust yet on their own you'll definitely have to be flexible and fast to get through it all. There is a huge open area filled with mature shade trees, a tall monument dedicated to the three Cushing Brothers, as well as an obelisk, and a few other memorials. The park is also situated along the Glacial Drumlin Trail. Oh, and dogs are allowed here! Plus, they have bags available for cleanup. If you're in the area, this park is definitely worth the stop!

There's also a field next to it, so there's lots of grass to run around and burn off some toddler energy. There isn't close by parking just off the street with a short walk. I did see a pavilion with bathrooms but didn't go in so I'm not sure if they're open. There's also some picnic tables with sun coverage.

I was looking to take my kiddo out before we headed into Sam's Club, and this park was nearby and seemed like a good stop. It was indeed! The playground is an all for one design, with no separate little kids side or big kids side, which is just fine. Variety is the key with this setup. For slides, there is one big enclosed twirl slide (my two year old loved this one), one three person slide, and a two person slide. For climbing into the playground, you can walk up the back of a crocodile, tackle the climbing wall, or take the variety of ladders, including one that goes into the middle of the roost. As well, there are two swings. One for toddlers, one for big kids. It's nothing crazy, it's not brand new, but it is well designed and maintained. Trees line the playground and basketball court, so there is plenty of shade. Parking is just on the street, no parking lot here. As well, the bathrooms are on the opposite end of the park from the playground, instead of centrally located. Other than that, the park is great for your traditional neighborhood park. We'll be back for sure.

The park is essentially just the playground, a small metal shelter with three picnic tables, three medium sized trees and a soccer net with maybe 15 feet of clearance in front of it. The playground is separated into two areas, with the little kids side and the big kids side. Note, although the big kids side is very tall with steep slides, the slides have very tall walls that ease your mind with safety. There are two little kid swings, and two big kid swings, along with a new version of a merry-go-round (which my two year old absolutely loves). The build quality for this park is incredible. This is the now the second little tikes branded playground I've seen, and I definitely hope to see more. Although the playground is primarily designed for kids 5+, there was still plenty of things for my two year old to play on with close supervision. This isn't an all day park, and it doesn't need to be. We'll be back when we're in the area. If you're headed to Walmart with the kiddos, definitely stop here first to wear them out. It's just a block away! My primary complaint? No bathrooms or drinking fountain.
