Had both R and L Achilles tendon surgeries for tendinosis around 15 yrs ago; then this past Fall got a partial rupture of my R Achilles. Was totally crippled, could barely hobble to the bathroom, and my Kaiser podiatrist didn't clarify that I had a partial rupture, much less that it probably was due to taking prednisone for another condition (i.e., didn't warn me to assiduously avoid steroids); and the only options he provided were "watch and wait" or a complex procedure that would take a year to recover from. When I then switched from Kaiser "Senior Advantage" to traditional Medicare with AARP secondary I asked him who I should see in community and the PAMF podiatrist he recommended referred me to Dr. Meagan Jennings for a TENEX procedure with PRP (platelet rich plasma) in which she is specially trained. The surgery went great and I was able to walk pretty normally by about 3 months post-op with the help of wonderful physical therapy from Break-Through; I'm now 5 months post-op and still improving! I can't help but wonder why Kaiser didn't recommend this procedure, for which I was a "perfect candidate" -- maybe none of their podiatrists are trained in it and they're too frugal to refer patients out for it, who knows. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Meagan Jennings if you have any foot issues! I had been having foot problems for about 3 years - initially diagnosed as a torn calf muscle by a sports medicine doctor - got PT - nothing seemed to help - then thought it was gout, arthritis... etc etc. Finally a friend got annoyed with my constant limping and pain and told me to see Dr. Jennings and IMMEDIATELY - she said that I tore my Achilles tendon, had a lot of scar tissue and did xrays and MRI to confirm and YES I was walking around with a torn Achilles tendon for the last three years and no amount of PT was going to correct it! She spends the time to explain everything (though I was thick headed and thought I could beat the timetable odds and heal faster which doesn't quite work that way - body heals when the body heals....) and she's so knowledgeable, patient and professional. Her staff is equally as amazing - they are always approachable and knowledgeable and respond very timely. And all my appointments I've never really had to wait long - very appreciative of that. What has been a long and drawn out process to repair my torn Achilles has been made so much bearable knowing I had the best doctor and care, and she and her staff totally made me feel so comfortable. She definitely tells it like it is and I love that she listens and advises and is such an awesome surgeon to boot! No problems or issues with my surgery and everything progressing to plan. I love Dr. Jennings. She is friendly, listens and doesn't make you feel like an idiot for asking a bunch of questions. I loved that she actually really took a look at my shoes and told me exactly what was wrong with them and how they could be causing my tendonitis. She also then went online with me and showed me the kind of shoes I should be looking at. For a different issue, she was confident is saying that she just didn't know and would have to dig around a bit. We took an xray and are still trying to figure it out. I really appreciated that she didn't jump to any conclusions, which has happened so often to me, in the past. I'm a big fan. read more

She was able to see me quickly when I arrived (less than 5 minute wait time after checking in). The waiting room was nice and the staff were cordial. She arrived promptly after I was put in the exam room. She was recommended to me by a friend and she performed foot surgery for my friend (also a marathoner) with successful results. I had a previous diagnosis of a neuroma in my foot from another doctor and her "second opinion" was it wasn't a neuroma. She took x-rays right then and there. The X-rays showed nothing wrong with the foot. She sent me on my way stating "your bones hurt, it's not a neuroma" and here's the address to send the latest MRI of your foot (my fault for not thinking they were significant in this endeavor since the MRIs were for a foot fracture a year earlier). I left feeling very confused and without a path forward for how to get rid of the foot pain. I had no confidence in ever being able to run again based on discussions with her because she couldn't propose ideas for what may be wrong. She seemed rushed and the visit was over very quickly. I asked repeatedly what was wrong with my foot and she only said, "your bones hurt, it's not a neuroma". read more

Dr. Jennings is not a "hands on" kind of podiatrist. She may be a good surgeon, I don't know. She had made orthotic inserts for me four years prior, and they'd worked well. Recently, I began having trouble with my left foot and the pain became so intense I couldn't walk. When I went to see Dr. Jennings, she didn't gently flex the foot or touch it in different places to see where it was most tender. She simply called for an X-ray and found out the problem wasn't bone-on-bone contact or arthritis. She then seemed to lose interest. Never once during the exam did she use the words 'tendon' or 'muscle'. However, the tendons near the Achilles heel and the muscles of the transverse arch were extremely sore. She offered to make new inserts for me, but wanted to use the old measurements. That's when I left. read more

Exactly five (not 4, not 6 or 7) minutes late for my appointment. Rejected. This is obnoxious. In Silly Valley my time is just as valuable, believe it or not. A couple of weeks ago, I waited just under half hour for another physician at the same clinic. Was I annoyed? Yes. Did I walk out? No. If you can't handle a patient arriving 5 minutes late, adjust your scheduling philosophy and don't waste people's time. read more

Dr Jennings is wonderful, she is very friendly and goes the extra mile to make sure things are done just right. She is always super helpful and never cuts the visit short, she answers any and all questions with a smile ( no matter how silly or repetitive they may be!).
