Every time I go to Shinnston, I make it a point to stop here and eat. With my current job, I typically work evenings which means I hit this place for their dinner menu. I've also been in during their Trivia night and it is a blast. I have 0 issues with the staff and the food is excellent. I try a new menu item each visit and each one is great. I've never waited too long for my food and any time I have a question, the staff is eager to answer. The desserts on the menu are great as well. Really disappointed in the corned beef and cabbage, on St Patrick's day no less. The meat was inedible, mostly fat and the limited meat was so tough that we had to leave it. At $13.99 a plate, expected much more. Waitress and Manager, who walked by several times, did not seem to care about the pile of obviously inedible fat. Sitting is this establishment now watching the Mountaineer game. I'm really happy that Clarksburg has another quality restaurant to add to the short list of places here to get a fine meal. To top it off they have all the Irish fare I love. We have been sitting here for three quarters of the game and the staff are friendly and happy to have us take up the table for such a long time. First time here and I was really impressed with the quality of the food here. I had the fish and chips which was perfectly done, while my wife had the garden pasta with chicken which was equally well made. My kids had the burger and fries and Mac and cheese, both of which were amazing given they were "kids meals". Driving back to PA we needed to stop for something for dinner so I pulled up Yelp and found Meagher's Irish Pub. Large restaurant with plenty of parking we were welcomed and seated immediately. Looked to be all high top tables in here, not my favorite, but I guess it should be expected in a pub! I knew from Yelp that we wanted to order the Pepperoni Roll appetizer so we did that while examining the menus for our main course. The rolls arrived (2 of them about the sizes of a donut) on a knife with a side of ranch dipping sauce. We cut into them and got to tasting. They were generously filled with finely cut pepperoni bathed in a marinara sauce. They were actually pretty spicy which surprised me since I do eat and love a lot of pepperoni! There is definitely enough to share with a few people. For our entrees we went with a Steak Boxty(no peppers) and a Chicken Sandwich. My husbands sandwich was terrific, perfectly cooked chicken with pepperoni and rashers (bacon!) and the fries that came with it were awesome. Fresh fries that I believe must have been twice cooked. My boxty was an unusual choice, but was recommended by our server Erin. Perfect name for a server in an Irish Pub! It was a potato crepe layered with grilled onions, cabbage and steak and covered with an alfredo type of cream sauce. It was super good and very large. We arrived before a dinner crowd/after a lunch crowd, on a Friday. We were promptly seated, and the staff, including a waitress, bar staff, and manager, checked on us, more than once. Speaking for my dinner...the wings were huge, and the 2 sauces I chose were very good. The food also arrived promptly. The onion soup was also good, albeit, a bit strong..maybe a bit too much Worcestershire/add a few more onions/croutons. The atmosphere was a bit morose..curtains..dark/dreadful...blinds would provide a better balance of sun/ shade. And, when customers order wings, bringvthem wet knaps/automatically...don't leave them stranded...not delivering, after 2 requests...they should be served with the wings. (Genuine Irish Whiskeys that taste like honey) If you're a WV native you know what Pepperoni rolls are. If you haven't tried Meaghers ' interpretation, you must order this. It's enough for at least two people. It's not your coal miners 'stick it in your pocket for lunch' meal. It has its own shape, and sauce drizzled across the top. Since this was my very first experience with a pepperoni roll, no other has come near this mouth watering treat since. Food. Well now. I come here for the Irish fair. I had always wanted to try a Shepard Pie. This as a meal that unlike most American meals, is light and won't leave you regretting the swollen belly like so many restaurants do. Delicious, and oh so tasty, without the swollen gut. Sandwiches. My Crazy Uncle Alberts. It is indeed the creation of a crazy uncle. Or a drunk one that just grabbed what he has available and decided to call this 'lunch' Since Uncle Albert isn't my uncle, I come here to ear this bizarre yet tasty delight. Breakfast. I would be cautious of calling it a Bloody Mary bar, there were very few options..The place was not crowded but the kitchen was backed up. Mother's Day at noon most places have extra staff. My stew was barely warm, cheese not melted on my daughter's Rueben, I must say the appetizer was very good. Little sad we had been planning to visit for a wile and none of us were thrilled. Only been here for lunch a couple times - they have an amazing buffalo macaroni and cheese that should honestly be on every menu across America. I know that's dramatic, but it's so good and I only have family that lives nearby so it's painful how long I go without it. Their apps are pretty reliably good, I haven't gotten a single entree other than this Mac n cheese - seriously a game changer. Refreshing new establishment in this area. Who doesn't like a pub with great food? Chef Brian Duffy did the consulting for the menu and we had the pleasure in meeting him during their soft opening. This place takes what they are doing seriously and each week we come back there is another improvement. The pepperoni rolls, the Mac and cheese and the new Celtic fish and chips are my favorite! If you're just looking for a drink, they have a huge option in beers and every bartender (especially Mike) will make you feel right at home. Ate at Meagher's for the first time for lunch today. When we arrived we were seated very quickly and our server was quick to arrive and take our drink orders. I ordered a sweet tea and it was delicious but veryyy sweet! We got the pretzel for an appetizer and it was delicious. The pretzel was well salted and the cheese dip that came with it was warm and savory. I ended up ordering the bbq chicken salad which was great but definitely not the healthiest option if that is what you are looking for! It was topped with French fries and bbq chicken! The other two people I was with ordered the Mac and cheese. They enjoyed the Mac and cheese but said it was a little greasy. There was good and not so good. We stopped in during he holidays for a late lunch. There were four other tables filled so they weren't busy at all. We waited to be seated quite a while since the host was also our waiter. That was fine. We weren't in a hurry. The bartender who was standing right there didn't acknowledge us, which I thought was weird. But, not a huge deal. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine. The beer selection is pretty great. The wine selection is nonexistent. The menu lists the different types of wines - no brand names. It's a pub and I know beer is their thing. But, this really gets me in "nicer" restaurants. If I'm paying a normal price for a glass of wine, I would really like to know which brand it is. It strikes me as lazy. The wine was awful. I was also told that it was the last glass of Chardonnay. So the awfulness wasn't a shock. I ended up not drinking it and our waiter took it off of our tab. That was a nice gesture. Our waiter was very attentive. He was really working pretty hard with the groups he had. We ordered the drunken crab balls - pretty good. My husband had the fish and chips - pretty good. I ordered the cheeseburger - pretty good. The burger was huge. I ordered it medium and it was definitely medium rare. I was fine with that. I can really go medium or medium rare. But, if you are particular, you may want to confirm what you are getting. All in all, it was fine. We drove about 30 minutes from Morgantown for lunch and I don't think I would do that again. But for a relatively nice lunch, it's not too bad. And not too great. read more

Nice atmosphere and good service. Beautiful bar. Excellent craft beer selection. Not necessarily a sports bar, but they have plenty of HD TV screens to watch the games strategically placed throughout the pub. I'd much rather take in a game here as opposed to the obnoxious atmosphere at Buffalo Wild Wings next door and their food completely dominates them as well. I've eaten here about 6 or 7 times and the food was always excellent and well presented. They take pride in their local and regional beer offerings and will offer you samples if you'd like. They have West Virginia brews like Mountain State(Thomas, WV) and Big Timber(Elkins, WV), among others, that I definitely recommend trying. The Big Timber Pale Ale is probably my go-to because it's flavorful without being to hoppy or floral, it's easy to drink and it goes well with most of their food offerings. I don't drink liquor much anymore, but it looks like they have a solid lineup there as well. Not your typical bar food. They have a legitimate, culinary trained chef who helped develop the menu. There are some traditional Irish items on there, a few things they put their own spin on as well as some more Americanized fare. The gourmet mac n' cheese is spectacular. Probably the best I've ever had and, like pretty much everything else here, it's completely made from scratch. The corned beef and cabbage rolls with the herbed crème fraîche on the side are an excellent appetizer in my opinion. The Popper Burger is outstanding as well. I really love this place and it's probably my favorite bar in Bridgeport. Close to the NCWV Airport, the new UHC Hospital, the FBI campus, the Charles Pointe master plan development, White Oak business park and several new hotels as well. If you're with a Big 12 team or their traveling party and you're in for the game with WVU and staying at the Wingate or elsewhere in the area and looking for a place to eat or have an adult beverage, definitely check it out. read more

Wife and I went to dinner at Meagher's tonight for my late birthday dinner. I had the Pub Sirloin and she had Shepard's Pie. My steak was one of the best I've ever had. Cooked to perfection. Wife enjoyed her dinner also. Our server was very polite and took care of our every need. We've been there before for Wing Mondays which are the biggest and best wings anywhere, but this was my first steak. Won't be my last. The atmosphere is pretty neat here but unfortunately I was not impressed at all with the food or drinks. The wings were $10 and only came with 8 wings (all flats) and the crown and coke was just a glass of coke. Being an Irish pub you would expect a great fish and chips. Well, they were very bland.
