Really, really good burgers!! Could use updated drink menu, but everything is delicious.

Big ups for whoever did the staffing. Our bartender at the patio was Erin tonight. She's a brilliant, total pro; she approaches every patron with a smile, introduced herself, mentioned the specials, and checked in on us in a timely manner. Excellent, enthusiastic service brings this review to a five star. I think I said no frills or no airs before, but I correct myself now- the frill is in the service. It's been consistently very good. Quite a nice variety on this menu and really, something for everyone's taste buds! Had a taste for broccoli today (yeah, so weird) and voila, delicious and well prepared. My fiance chose the traditional - wings and fries, and both were freshly made, although the wings were under-sauced. The wait staff was friendly and fun, and the prices a great value. First time dining in at the place and we all ordered burgers but the temperature of the food was room temperature like it's been ready for awhile but nobody brought it out. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen most of the time especially when we were waiting for our check. We understand she was training but she walked passed us multiple times but didn't even acknowledge us. The trainee paid more attention to us more than the waitress. My buns looked all wet from the patty and sauce that I had to eat it with a fork. The burger wasn't cooked medium rare and my friends fries were okay but weren't the best after they got cold. Our Oreos were okay but needed more sugar. I'd rather just drink at bar next time instead of getting food. Extremely slow, came in with my 2 kids at 12:20, ordered at 12:30 and was told its 15-20 min for food, kids grilled cheese sandwich finally showed up after trying to give it to another table first at 1:15 , 45 min wait and fries ice cold , was told my sons small pizza and my burger would be right up, sons pizza ( burned ) showed up at 1:30, still no burger, daughter had already eaten her grilled cheese, did not eat the cold greasy fries , my burger finally showed up at 1:44, an hour and 14 min after ordering, food was not worth it, wait was crazy, took 15 just to get my check , waitress was super nice, its not her fault read more

Came here and didn't realize it wasn't Pacers anymore. New sign went up the day we went. Had my heart set on some good ribs and ordered them anyhow. Was not disappointed. They were the meatiest ribs I have had in a long time. Dining partners ordered the Poor Man's Surf and Turf. Their steak was very good and the shrimp were ample sized. Owner waited on us. My daughter and I had lunch today at Mean Mugs. We were seated and our drinks were brought to us right away. Our server was also the bartender, but the didn't stop her from taking very good care of us. We started with loaded fries which had a good seasoning on them and a lot of cheese and bacon. I got the hangover burger and my daughter got the high steaks but were very good and more perfectly seasoned fries. We will return and my daughter wants to bring here husband as so as he comes home on leave. read more

I don't know what happened to the quality of this place since it changed ownership but went in to a not so friendly waitress we ordered our drinks 15 minutes later they arrive place the food order immediately and got back greasy wings and soggy french fries. It's like they didn't allow their fryer to come back up to temperature. I love to this place the Before the name change.It seems like it's not the same place unfortunately I will hate to see it go. The wife and I went twice within a week, we couldn't stop thinking about how good the burgers were the first time we went, so we went again. Between the two of us on the two visits we tried four different burgers, a couple of single half pounders and a couple of burgers with two quarter pound patties, all four were excellent, very tasty, not to mention the hand cut fries, cooked nice and crispy, the way they were meant to be served! We enjoyed the nice happy hour prices from the bar too! The wait staff was awesome, last week we sat in the dining room and yesterday we sat in the bar and experienced swift and friendly severs both times. Hopefully this will continue! We look forward to trying other items on the menu and look forward to being on the nice patio as soon as the weather breaks. Keep up the good work Mean Mugs Pub, we'll be back soon. Wow. My son had the hangover burger which had hashbrowns, bacon, and an egg or what would already be an amazing burger... mind blown. I just had a burger with bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce on grilled cheese bread. And by that I mean the top and bottom bun were full sized grilled cheese sandwiches. I was smart enough to only eat half. It was out of this world. The onions rings were an A+. With food this good how could it get better. This place has great food! Was concerned this was Pacers under another name but it is totally not. I had the steak which is not an expensive piece of meat but it was seasoned well and cooked medium just like I asked. The ribs my kids got were tender and the sauce was wonderful. If you are concerned they are Pacers under another name it's not. Service is great and the food is good. read more

My wife and and i are from the mentor area and decided to try mean mugs out. we stopped in on a thursday about a week or so ago. We we're excited to try it out because we live so close. First off, our waitress seemed high as a kite!! I can't remember her name but she was short and blonde. I ordered the surf and turf entree, i ordered it med rare.. it came out rare and was cold.. i told the waitress It was ok and that i would eat it anyways because we had already been waiting 45+ mins for our food.. my wife ordered the cobb salad which came out really good no complaints there. I wanted to speak to a manger about the service and food but the waitress was so disoriented that I just wanted to get the hell out of there!!! i don't recommend mean mugs and will not be returning in the future. read more

DONT COME HERE!!!!!! I normally come here on Thursdays and get the rib special which is why I decided to try a Sunday afternoon here since I was hungry. I sat at the bar and asked the waitress with the French braids in her hair what was on special. She proceeded to tell me Taco's and nothing else. As I was staring at a sign on the bar showing a mean mug light tall draft for 3 dollars, I proceeded to ask her about it. She then told me it wasn't on sale and that was only on wednesdays....when I showed her that there was no date on the sign stating that, she said well it's not on sale and then proceeded to tell the other bartender/manager that she was removing the signs from the bar because some people didn't understand what they were told. I sat and thought to myself hmmmm maybe I should leave now, but I didn't as I was hungry, had great food here before, and was already here. I sat at the bar waiting to have my order taken ( it wasn't busy), being ignored as the French braid bartender was going through her credit card orders, cashing them out of the register in order to take her tips out of them....how do I know this you ask? Because I watched her put codes in the register and the take cash from them and place it in her tip jar....she then proceeded to tell the other bartender that she cut her in on an early tip out, the girl looked, said wow, and then said thanks. Fifteen minutes later after she had her cash she asked me if I wanted to put and order in (I had looked at her the whole time trying to make eye contact only to be ignored). I put in an order, the burger was way over cooked, I didn't complain and I paid my bill and left. My friends and I go for UFC pretty often. The waitstaff is very friendly and typically attentive. Their pizza and wing special is a great deal and everything else I have had was good as well. Overall just a nice bar to relax in and an excellent choice for watching sports. read more

Oh, unfortunately the wings that we ordered did NOT measure up to the previous restaurant "Pacers" (not even close), as some Mean Mugs employees claim when you phone the restaurant. The wings were incredibly greasy (my fingers were covered in oil), and the quality of the meat was just not there for us. The sauces and Ranch dressing were good, but that was the extent of it. I doubt we will be returning, as this is not the same food as Pacers by any means (at least wing-wise!), nor should potential customers be misled into believing that is the case. read more

I've never had a bad meal here. I usually get a hamburger or wings, so I'm not sure about some of the other meals. The french fries are fantastic and are made with fresh potatoes - not frozen ones. What stands out the most though is how friendly everyone is that works there. All the servers are wonderful, and go out of their way to make you feel good while you're there. There's a lot of great restaurants in Mentor, but the service keeps me coming back. read more

What a disappointment. After reading the rave reviews here on yelp we decided to give it a try. The highlight of the meal was the onion ring appetizer. They have 2 offerings of St. Louis style ribs(no baby backs) which were just okay. I chose the nacho appetizer for my meal and it had no taste. Ground meat was unseasoned and whatever cheese product they are using tasted nothing like any cheese I've eaten. The hamburger that my friend chose was either overcooked or had been thawed previous to it being cooked. It was not medium rare as he ordered. The fresh cut fries were nothing to write home about. Truly a shame as when it was Pacer's the food was good, great selection of ribs, and a pleasant dining experience. I'm not going out to eat based on how many TVs are in a place. read more

I really like it here. We sit on the patio and have appetizers and drinks. The server we always have is very nice. Food is fast. Laid back, comftorable atmosphere. They serve food later than most places so that is a huge bonus. So if you're out and about after 9 pm, you have somewhere to eat! Highly recommend! read more
