The moist brisket was a thick mixed slice consisting of both moist and lean, maybe the cashier didn't hear me. They serve Goodstock by Nolan Ryan, which is his premium line that's either Prime or Angus, so I'm not sure which they buy here, maybe Angus. The German style sausage is a little peppery, but with paprika or cayenne, not black pepper. It was ok. The item I liked the least. It's a fine-grained sausage and smooth and just tastes generic or store bought. The cajun potato salad was interesting and good..not great. They do give you a massive amount for a single serving. It's a tad spicy due to the cayenne. The banana pudding is very interesting and definitely homemade. It has a caramel swirl and broken chocolate pieces sprinkled on the top. This was my favorite part of the meal, but it's also very sweet. The owner let me know that they smoke the bananas and the sea salt which goes on top. The background music is good here...classic country so you definitely have that Texas vibe. Last of all, I didn't really like their iced tea here. Not sure what it is. The homemade bbq sauce is passable but goes well with their meats. Next time, I definitely need to try their homemade boudain, the ribs, and the Mac and cheese.

My first thought was, "Wait... inside the gas station?" But listen... don't let that fool you. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was. The gas station itself was spotless, and Angel's Kitchen looked practically brand new. The setup was fresh, organized, and gave off the feeling of a business still in its early stages but trying to do things right. The menu had more variety than I expected too--cheesesteak subs, cold subs, burgers, fries, and Italian ice. I ordered the turkey sub and a small pineapple Italian ice. They were out of almost half of the Italian ice flavors, which was a little disappointing, but that pineapple flavor absolutely delivered. It was cold, refreshing, and exactly what I needed in that Texas heat. Now the ordering process was a little different. They currently handwrite your order on a Post-it note, then you take it to the gas station register to pay, get it stamped, and bring it back. They do have a POS system at the counter, so I'm guessing they're still getting everything fully up and running. Growing pains happen. As far as service goes, the staff was cool. The young cashier seemed like she was probably still learning the ropes and maybe in training, but she was pleasant. There was another gentleman there who carried himself with the confidence of someone who might be the owner, and overall the interaction felt welcoming. Now for the food: I haven't eaten the turkey sub yet, but presentation matters--and this thing looked GOOD. Honestly, it looked better than a lot of sandwiches I've gotten from some of the bigger chain sub shops. Fresh ingredients, packed nicely, and definitely not thrown together carelessly.
