We were met with some of the kindest service I've received and even got complementary Lone Star's. All of the meat was amazing, especially the brisket and smoked turkey. I finally visited and found the ordering process to be very easy. I was able to walk right to the counter to order. There is indoor seating with restrooms but it was nice outside so I opted to check that area out. There is plenty of outdoor covered seating, with a tea dispenser and fixings off to the side. The ice is in a Texas-style, wood-paneled ice box. There is also a nice wide hand wash sink and paper towels in this same area. The moist brisket was a thick mixed slice consisting of both moist and lean, maybe the cashier didn't hear me. They serve Goodstock by Nolan Ryan, which is his premium line that's either Prime or Angus, so I'm not sure which they buy here, maybe Angus. The German style sausage is a little peppery, but with paprika or cayenne, not black pepper. It was ok. The item I liked the least. It's a fine-grained sausage and smooth and just tastes generic or store bought. The cajun potato salad was interesting and good..not great. They do give you a massive amount for a single serving. It's a tad spicy due to the cayenne. The banana pudding is very interesting and definitely homemade. It has a caramel swirl and broken chocolate pieces sprinkled on the top. This was my favorite part of the meal, but it's also very sweet. The owner let me know that they smoke the bananas and the sea salt which goes on top. The background music is good here...classic country so you definitely have that Texas vibe. Last of all, I didn't really like their iced tea here. Not sure what it is. The homemade bbq sauce is passable but goes well with their meats. Next time, I definitely need to try their homemade boudain, the ribs, and the Mac and cheese. read more

I had a great experience at 3rd coast BBQ. The BBQ was good, but the experience and price point made it stand out. Great value for time/money I stopped in at 3rd coast BBQ on a Thursday at lunchtime. There was a little parking, but not a massive amount. There was almost no line at all when we got there - I think we waited for about 10 min & waited another 10 for our food. The food itself was really good! They had a large menu & I thought the prices were very reasonable. For 3 meats and 3 sides it was about $50. We got two ribs, brisket (mixed) and the cheddar and jalapeño sausage links. Everything was pretty yummy. I thought the brisket was nice and tender while still having some great flavor. Both the fatty and lean brisket were pretty good. The ribs were super tender and the flavor was smoky and sweet. The sausage links were decent. I will say the food wasn't quote corkscrew level, but was still pretty solid. The ambiance here was really great. I liked the outdoor patio vibe & really homey feel. I liked the tin roof (it rained while we were there & I loved the sound!) & there was plenty of seating. Overall, great experience. Full of brisket and sausage its pretty damn good. The jalapeño sausage is a great, perfect grind size and coarseness. Sides are above average. For me hands down the cajun potato salad is the best I tried today. My dining partner raved about the collard greens and coleslaw. They've recently been listed on the Houston Chronicle's Top 30 in Houston so had to give them a try. They've got a very cool little shack just across I-45 from The Woodlands, you order at the window and they bring it out, 100% outdoor seating at picnic tables, but shaded with fans. I got a late lunch at 1:30pm and found the meat lukewarm and the fat had started to congeal on both fatty brisket and ribs. Very disappointing as it was clear that the underlying flavor was good or excellent - hard to tell when it's not warm and the fat is sticky. I found their house sausage to be bland and uninteresting, but the potato salad, baked beans, and pickles were all excellent. I think they deserve another try, but I don't understand selling a $40 lunch and not getting the temp right. read more

Why 4 stars? Because I had a mixed experience, but still a solid one overall. --- --- --- This was another place I've had bookmarked for quite a while and just never had the chance to visit. Recently, I decided to make the trek over on a solo mission and finally get it done. MEATS: Moist Brisket: 4-stars. Very good brisket, just not top top tier. Burnt Ends: 5-stars. Yeah, these were the best thing I ordered. These were crispy on the outside, but melted in your mouth. Bravo to you, chef. Ribs: 4.5-stars. I just ordered the side portion with two small ribs. The first rib I ate was just like the pork belly: AMAZINGLY tender. But then the second one was very different, so I guess I'm torn here. The second one certainly wasn't bad, but it just wasn't like the first one that was perfection. SIDES: Coleslaw: 2-stars. Unfortunately, I didn't like anything about the flavor of this slaw and only took a few bites before giving up on it. Mac-n-cheese: 3-stars. It's very creamy, but I didn't love it. It was fine, but not something I'd need to order again. OTHER: Sauce: 2-stars. This was a very strong and unique BBQ sauce that I was not a fan of at all. I wish I could pinpoint what it was that I didn't like about it, but I can't quite identify what the flavor was. It came out kind of chunky, so it just seems like they packed a bunch of stuff into it and the combination equalled to something that didn't agree with my taste buds. Outdoor Seating: I'm not going to give this a "rating" because it's not like it's the fault of 3rd Coast, I just wanted to point this out. I elected to sit outside despite the heat, because the fans and the shade made it not nearly as hot as it would have been otherwise. Unfortunately, I was in the midst of an all out war with flies the entire time I was eating. I would take a bite and then have to wave my arms maniacally the entire time. I think the person who took my order said there was indoor seating, but I just made the decision that I was going to stick it out. Such a good find! Did a 20 mile run in the area and decided to get some local BBQ to restore the calorie deficit. The BBQ was delicious and I particularly enjoyed the sides. My partner said this might be the best BBQ sauce he's had - not spicy but definitely has a good amount of pepper. We loved every bite! This is such an interesting spot!! I've driven past hundreds of times after getting McDonald's down the street and honestly had no clue this gem was there! The restaurant is in an old house, which is so quirky. The indoor seating is in a living room w a full kitchen next to it. All part of the charm though. The outdoor seating is really nice and I would be down to come back at night to see what the vibe is like. The service itself was really quick and friendly! My sister recommended this spot. It's in a house/lawyer office. I felt like I was attending a catered party at a friend's house. The brisket sandwich was ok. The turkey baked potato could have been better. The sides were AMAZING! The mac and cheese was so yummy. The coleslaw had a bit of a kick and would have been great with some shrimp. It was also great to see Miss Dee Dee, Troy, Drew, and the rest of the crew. This is one of my favorite BBQ spots to just sit and relax. Review Whoa boy: is their version of a po boy comes with brisket, turkey, and slaw and it was amazing. Texas cheesesteak: another good twist on a cheesesteak brisket, cheese, and peppers on a bambino baguette I mean this is one of the better cheesesteaks I've eaten in a while. Banana pudding was very fluid. It had a slightly salty flavor, which was interesting. Brisket (lean) sandwich comes with 4-5 slices of brisket, which has some fat edges but overall reminded me of pastrami. The bun for the sandwich was a little dry. The Baked potato was huge. We had it sliced in half to share, and each part was like a normal portion. The turkey was sliced not too thin or thick and then cubed. It came topped with finely shredded mixed cheeses, green onion, butter, and sour cream. The Mac and Cheese was good. The Chipotle Coleslaw was unique and creamy but a little too strong for me on its own. The smoky undertones made me want to use it with some fried seafood. read more

Easily the best barbecue I have ever had. I flew all the way from Atlanta to have some barbecue from Texas, and it is safe to say I will fly back to come here again. I could feel the love that was put into the restaurant as well as the barbecue and 3rd coast has became the best one I've ever been to. One of the co owners Ms. DeeDee was really nice as well as all of the staff. The seating is very interesting with a house off to the side where they allow you to pick your own table to sit at and overall it was a very unique seating arrangement. I personally really liked it due to it feeling like you were kind of eating at home. Overall, 3rd Coast is definitely a barbecue place worth visiting and it is undoubtedly deserving of 5* Food The beef rib is only on Saturday's and for 35 dollars I was very happy with my purchase. The beef rib was very flavorful, smoky, and incredibly well seasoned. The brisket was remarkable. Very juicy, tender, and seasoned perfectly. The mac and cheese is not to be overlooked either, I have tried lots of mac and cheese before, and 3rd coast mac and cheese is among the best I've had. Collard greens were great, had a nice smoky flavor and they were seasoned well. Although I am not a big fan of potato salad I feel like they did well with that too. Very friendly and good natured folks with a nice cozy outdoor setup to eat......that's the best of it. I ordered online early that morning for a pickup in the mid afternoon. I arrived and they not only did not have the order ready as promised in the confirmation, but did not even have the order in their system. Good thing I had my confirmation acknowledging payment. They did apologize and put the bulk order together with a short wait. I mention bulk because there were a number of sides that were poorly packed kind of jammed in 1 bag and leaking by the time I got home. Quality of the meats was very good, but sorely lacking smoke and flavor. With all the positive reviews I was sure I had found another local gem, but alas NO. The best item was the potato salad. Pleasantly surprised with restaurant and its unique layout. Attached by a short dog trot they have a older home they converted into indoor dining rooms to beat the heat. It reminds me of going to your aunt's house for a church social, full of folding tables and chairs and mismatched tablecloths. The staff was very friendly and the food came out PDQ We got the $30 Poppa's Plate with a sample of the meats. This was more than enough for 2. Pulled pork, brisket, turkey, and ribs. The bark on the brisket was full of flavor. The turkey was tender and well seasoned, the ribs were te Eder but not fall of the bone that way they still have some texture. Any of these would have been great on a baked potato or in big sandwich. The banana pudding was a perfect side to finish the meal. The wafers are mixed into the pudding to prevent that weird texture the cookies get when they are left on top of it. read more

I called in advance to make sure the rub and al a carte orders didnt have gluten. I forgot the business owners name but he was very helpful and reassured me that the rub had no Gluten in it. (my wife is gluten intolerant and sensitive to it) After i picked up a pound of brisket, we wernt disappointed. Very delicious and great staff with a backyard vibe in the environment.
