In August 2026, I had an oil/filter change and Smog check on my car at Freeport Automotive…read more Freeport Automotive does not perform Smog checks, but there's a business behind them that does, and Freeport Auto takes it over there and gets the Smog checks done. Everything was fine. About 10 days later, I had a bunch of error codes/messages flashing across my dashboard. So I called Dion and explained what was happening. He said to bring it in whenever I could, and he would take a look at it. I returned to Freeport Auto that afternoon and Dion was able to quickly identify and resolve the issue. He said it's possible that one of my sparks was going out, which caused the "Check Engine" code to flash. Dion said that error code more than likely triggered the other 5-6 error codes to flash. Dion was able to clear all the codes. His recommendation was for me to get a tune-up within 5 or 6 months. He said that even though I have very low mileage on my car, he recommended getting the tune-up. The spark plugs will be replaced at that time and I should not encounter that issue anymore. On April 21, 2025, I took my car to Auto Stop because it was leaking oil. I had been using them for…read moreoil changes and had always been happy with that service, so I trusted them with this repair. They diagnosed the source of the oil leak, and because I have an extended warranty, I went through the warranty process and authorized the repair. Their labor rates exceeded what my warranty would cover, so I paid the difference out of pocket. Unfortunately, this is where my experience went downhill. After the repair, my car continued leaking oil for more than a year. I brought it back multiple times, and each visit resulted in another attempt to fix the problem, usually by adding more gaskets. It became clear that they were taking shortcuts rather than properly diagnosing and repairing the issue. At one point, I discovered they had even stuffed rags around the oil pan. After several unsuccessful repair attempts, Auto Stop finally admitted they could not fix the problem. To make matters worse, during the course of their repeated repair attempts, they damaged the upper oil pan. Their only recommendation at that point was to take the vehicle to the dealership. That's exactly what I had to do. The dealership corrected the original oil leak and repaired the additional damage caused during Auto Stop's failed repair attempts, leaving me to pay for work that could have been avoided. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Auto Stop. What should have been a straightforward repair turned into more than a year of frustration, repeated trips back to the shop, additional damage to my vehicle, and significant extra expense.

He originally said 1year. Then in the span of 30secs it went down from oh labor is 1yr, the parts only have 6month warranty. THEN the paper only says 90days so by that point i was like okay whatever - we'll just literally never come back. He's just making stuff up and lying as we speak. Worst shop ive been to ever. I explained the reason why we had so many questions was bc we came in for one thing, and bam theres now so many random things hes charging for? I told him every other (reputable) shop gives an estimate and if they find something wrong later, they ALWAYS call, explain it to me, tell me the new estimate and ask if its okay. They never ever fix it without saying anything. I couldve done the coolant and filter and cleaned the leaves myself!
