Sadly, the business has changed hands. I showed up yesterday at 9 am for my appointment and the shop was closed. One hour later, still closed. No response per phone as to why. Yoshimura does a good job! The shop is no frills, and they don't really answer the phone, so forget about calling. My fiancee took my car to be dropped off on a Thursday but they were busy and couldn't get to it. He said he would take it early Monday morning - Which he did. But come late Monday, I hadn't heard anything and I tried calling several times, but no avail. I just decided to head to the shop and see what was up. They were doing an oil change and repairing 2 cracked CV boots on the car. So they got that done for $300. The car was done but they didn't call me. He said the only took cash so I hopped in my car and went to the Chase ATM and returned with the cash. Pretty easy. No issues. read more

This place WAS amazing when I started coming here in 2014 and Alan was doing the work himself, but these new kids he's hired to help him out over the past year are ruining the great business he built. Unless you get Alan to do the work himself, the young technicians doing the repairs will half-ass the job and steal any parts you have replaced. Alan has always returned your old parts in case you need them later. Additionally, don't expect anything more than a part swap experience. Go buy the replacement part from the dealer and they will swap it out for half the service cost. But beware, if they service your car and the issue persists or gets worse they will refer you to a dealership for diagnosis and repairs, thereby doubling your cost to fix the same problem. read more

This shop was recommended to me by somebody in the neighborhood so I decided to give them a try to fix my broken AC. I drove there without an appointment and Allen immediately looked at my car without having me wait. He recharged my AC for free and said if it leaks out come back and we'll take a look. When I came back , he again took me in without an appointment. Told me that same day that the part I need had to be ordered from a dealer. He made sure it was okay with me first and that I'm okay with the price. After the part came in(2days) the car was fixed the following day. Allen is extremely reliable, very honest, works fast and knows what he is doing. I'm so happy I found somebody who was able to fix my car so quick without charging me an arm and a leg! read more

It's almost impossible to go to a dealership for repairs or servicing after you've been to Yoshimura Auto Service. This very modest, unassuming repair shop highlights the fact that 99% of auto places VASTLY overcharge you for services. Don't go there expecting all the bells and whistles (fancy waiting room, coffee, magazines, etc). Do go there for incredibly reasonable prices, often with things thrown in for free because of Alan's generous nature. I sometimes fear that he is LOSING money when he does repairs on my car. In fact, I tipped him $100 on my last service due to all the extra little things he did - he even put $20 of gas in my car! (I had brought it in empty) My family has been taking all of our cars to Yoshimura Auto Service for over a decade. I live in Berkeley but will drive 100 miles to Sacramento to get my car serviced by Alan. That's how great this place is. SOOOO nice to be able to trust a mechanic and not worry about getting ripped off or sold unnecessary services. read more

It's super rare these days to find an auto mechanic who will not only tell you what wrong with your car, but will tell you how to fix it yourself for free. Rarer still is an extremely competent mechanic who will also help you fix the issue he told you how to fix when you can't quite get it done yourself. Alan at Yoshimura automotive is such a mechanic. After I had spent a couple of hour trying to remove a part, I swung by and he immediately had me pull in and helped me fix the issue in minutes, FOR FREE. I have been calling this shop to get a hold of someone for days and. Nobody answers the phone or has returned the call. When you call... the vm states to call another number... when you call that number the vm tells you to call that same number. NO ONE EVER picks up and I called several times throughout the day. Yoshimura Auto Service is awesome! Go to this place if you want to fix your car quickly for a reasonable price. My car needed a new idler pulley. There was a bolt that needed to be taken out as well. I couldn't drive with power steering until it was fixed. I called Honda and got a quote for $500, including parts and labor. I decided to check out Yoshimura because it was highly recommended by my family and friends and it's at a convenient location right across from Oto's on Freeport Blvd. My car was fixed and good to go in under a day. Alan charged me $120 only! I couldn't believe that Honda had quoted me $500 minimum and Yoshimura got it done for so much less! Yoshimura has totally made a repeat customer out of me. I really can't add a whole lot to what other people have said. He REALLY knows what he's doing. I have a 25 year old truck. No problem for Alan. The first time I had work done I was expecting the bill to easily be $250. Alan only wanted $160. You get top quality work with Alan and for an almost unbelieveably low price. And on top of that, he gives free advice. I'd bring my truck here from the Bay Area too; even further. Don't bother with anybody else... I like the idea of tipping him. He earns it! read more
