Well, I drove through here once before and I had the nachos. they used liquid nacho cheese and it's not my favorite but, then that's just me. I think I'm picky. I ordered the Carne Asada burrito and it comes plain so I added the pico de gallo for like $.50 which I thought was a great deal. I asked for lemon or lime and they don't have any. Cindy took care of me and she was really sweet so of course I gave her a tip at the register where I ordered. She brought me chips and a salsa. The salsa was not hot at all. It's more of a tomato with a very slight, and I do mean SLIGHT spice/seasoning. There was a seven-year-old little girl sitting on the table behind me and even she said it was not spicy. I wish the burrito meat had been fresh, but mine was old tasting, dry and hard - and definitely needed seasoning. Inside is nice and there's plenty of seating. Ate at Mechy's this afternoon in Safford. I wanted Menudo and they were sold out (that just proves how delicious their Menudo is) so I ordered Shredded Beef Enchiladas - The Platter and it was delicious! Highly recommend it! The Young Lady working the register and Waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend Mechy's - their other location in Clifton, Arizona is also a great place to eat. Creepy employees will block you in the parking lot if you park anywhere NEAR the drive thru. Which, according to them, is the WHOLE parking lot. Food is always wrong, workers are some of the rudest people I've ever met, and the parking lot seriously needs to be addressed. Horrible place. read more

I was in town on a work trip and wanted some good, authentic Mexican for breakfast. They were open early and I pulled up to the drive thru. The staff were very friendly and cheerful. I ordered the tamales rojos and they were great. I wish I had time to go back and try more. I cannot understand why this place is not rated higher. The Girl that takes orders at the window has been rude right away the last couple times I went. Ordered a couple burros my wife and I always get and the girl rudely stopped me and told us she can't because the system won't allow it, so she would input it a different way. I figured I'd still get what I asked for but worded different so the system would process it. Mind you I've ordered the same things every time I get breakfast burros when going here. Got a completely different burro. While ordering I paused after that burro for a few seconds and then started my next burro and she rudely interrupted me and told me to stop and hold on. Through this text I can only write so much of how it went but hard to express the displeased look on her face, the tone in her voice and the way she abruptly interrupted me multiple times. I did not cause a scene. I agreed to everything she said, and also apologized when telling her it was fine and to input it for however the system allows my order. The rude customer service is not the first time this has happened. I have worked in the food industry in the past and I understand the stresses of dealing with customers and what kind of service is acceptable. This place also forgets to add things I pay extra for like salsas or ingredients. Most times you don't know until you get home and actually take a bite. read more

We had never tried this place even though we visit Safford, AZ often and we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly and efficient staff, clean restaurant and prompt food service we received. You can just tell when a restaurant is family run. The pride in the food can be tasted and felt when you visit. We tried chile rellanos and talked, tacos and enchiladas and burritos and everything was tasty. The best part is it was really really affordable. The service was good and the workers were nice but "authentic Mexican food" is false advertisemen. we had passed a few Mexican restaurants and regretted not stopping so mechys was on our right. we thought it was cute and and "authentic". my hubs ordered a burrito, I ordered 3 tacos and our son got a cheese quesadilla. the burrito was straight meat and cheese with nothing else. my tacos were all lettuce, tomato and cheese and literally had about a 1inch long by 1/3 inch thick piece of chicken in each. the tacos were horrible. my husbands burrito wasn't bad but not "authentic" at all. the cheese quesadilla was the best out of all of it. I do not recommend waisting your money here. we would have had a better chance for "authenticity" at Taco Bell. read more

Brought out my tacos, they were hard shell. She threw them on my table and said "you're getting hard tacos" very rudely and I said, am I getting my money back- in a joking manner. She immediately snatched them off the table and took them to the back and had someone else brought them out. 5 stars are hard to come by and 4 is usually you're great. Well not necessarily this time. The food is good, I especially like the green chili burros with shredded beef and the green chili rellenos. Tonight I went by, placed an order to go and it was a bit caustic; would have normally rated this a 2 star at best. But what happened changed everything. I placed 2 orders, a chili relleno plate and a combo plate. I always check my orders anywhere. These "looked" like 2 plates of enchiladas which I did not order. I took them to the counter. The owner/manger was at the front counter, he looked at the plates and was not happy with the way they looked put together. He apologized to me, took them back and there was some discussion. I offered to take them anyway, I didn't want them thrown away; he said no I'll give them to you. He replaced my meals and to my shame they were the correct meals, just not appealing or put together properly. He was quick and happy to replace them. I applaud this young man for his help and accepting my apology. He carried my meals to the car, I shook his hand apologized for the mix up again and thanked him for his graciousness. It took an hour for our 4 burros to be ready. Mine was soggy and had a hair in it. I ordered 2 green mixed and they were just green.

Everyone needs to check the order before you leave if it is "to go or drive thru". We travel from Mesa to Safford for family visits, and it has been consistent that one or more item will not be left out. We have driven to the house and at least one persons food is not in the bag. Today we walked in and ordered a "to go" order. We checked the bag and one complete plate was left out. The food is decent, but the delivery of the order from cooking to customer is lacking. The cashier Xander did make sure everything was corrected and took care of the order before we left. It is still up in the air if we end up getting our food elswhere. read more

For real, I'm riding my toilet reverse cowboy, so I have something to hold onto during the explosion. AND.... it looks like French Onion Soup coming out. IMO. I should have played it safe and gone to Sonic down the street and had some hacky-sack playing knucklehead, roller skate out my cold burger. The gamble didn't pay off. I usually don't do things like this, but this is ridiculous. I waited for over an hour for a 32 oz menudo, mixed asada burrito and four bean and cheese burritos. I understand the restaurant was busy. The problem is, when I got home, the menudo was dry (no broth at all). My wife called in to complain. The girl on the phone turned to the owner and registered the complaint. We brought my parents here who came from out of town. The lady a the counter was so incredibly rude to her. She flung a chair after she asked her if she would clean off their table cause it was dirty. She never smiled once, was never professional and every answer was so monotone. She even answered a call on her cell phone while talking with us. What a way to make an impression! We haven't even received our food yet and I'm not even looking forward to it. Just the service alone is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. I will NEVER come here again! I can see why it's never busy. Update: we got our food and the quesadillas we ordered for the kids were cold. The beans were spicy and the rice was lumpy white rice with some watered down tomato sauce in it. It was nasty. The enchiladas used canned enchilada sauce and very little cheese. My husband ordered some enchilada style fries which were fries with canned enchilada sauce and a pinch of cheese. Taco Bell puts more cheese on their tacos! This seriously was the worst Mexican restaurant ever! All the food tasted like it was microwaved. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER eat there again! We went there today for breakfast. In my opinion, the menudo was ok, not great. I ordered a side tostada that tasted 100% Taco Bell - here's the most important thing that those that are thinking about "eating in" at Mechey's should consider.. think twice, disappointing is a nice word to use.. Mechy's is not a come in and sit down and eat type of restaurant at all! The young people that normally attend to the drive through and cash register are NOT waitresses or waiters period! Nor do they have the desire to serve you 100%. Now, give credit where credit is due, their drive through and take out is OK.. So don't expect great things if you eat in at Mechy's - when they finally do bring out your order to your table, it's cold and just doesn't have that Mexican Food taste.. I "might" order a drive through if there's nothing else open in town in the future or just settle for McDonalds up the street and save me a disappointment again. Mechy's - it is what it is.. this could be an excellent place to eat in at, but it's obvious that they have no interest on making that a pleasant experience. The place isn't much to look at; its a remodeled service station. You also have to order at a counter. However, the food is excellent. They make everything fresh in house daily, so sometimes they run out of a particular item. While everything is good, their green chili tamales and red chili burros are as good as I've ever had anywhere. read more
