I have visited the Med Star Health Clinic on several occasions for both myself and my husband. I def would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. I left out the 5th star because the wait is a long time, whether you have an appointment or not. I felt the healthcare nurses and Doctors were helpful and had thorough explanations. The admin staff was also helpful. When you are not feeling good it's torturous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They charged me specialist co pay (30 ) instead of primary co pay (15) that most other urgent cares charge ( such as patient 1st). They said because they are like a hospital emergency room. But they are not, they dont even have doctors, only NP or PAs . Finally, they refused to prescribe me any medicines for my cold because i refused blood pressure reading ( i have white coat syndrome and prefer not to deal with bp readings unless its a specialist who takes it correctly and knows my history). I left, dialed in Patient first virtual care and got all the medicines I needed in less time from the moment i requested the call from the medicine showing up in my pharmacy than the time Medstar had me wait for the appointment and fill out ridiculous amount of paperwork. read more

I was caring for my three year old granddaughter while her parents were traveling. She was not feeling well on a Saturday during the early morning hours. I arrived at Med Star Potomac with no information. I didn't have her health insurance card, I didn't know her allergies, her health history or even the day of the month that she was born. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front desk advisor, Sheila was so nice and so helpful! She did everything she could to get my granddaughter registered and seen ASAP[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The medical assistants, Melanie and Indira took such great care of us, and Dr. Azam was caring, kind and efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My granddaughter was diagnosed with strep throat and after beginning medication was feeling better within hours! We booked a slot for 1:40 PM. After reaching there, it was 2 hours of wait time. When we asked front desk( Jamila) , she informed that booking a slot does not mean anything. It only holds your place in line. She also informed that it's written somewhere in fine print. Clearly, this facility or may be MedStar Chain booking system for time slot is then meaningless. If you book a time slot and show up there on your time, they treat you same as walk ins. There may be 5-10 people ahead of you already waiting and they still show empty time slot. If you respect your time, go somewhere else. They clearly don't respect anyone's time. read more

Absolutely horrible, you might want to call first to see if there's an actual MD there. then again they don't answer the phone so good luck. I was in and out no problem, I was given prescription for something my insurance wouldn't cover and it was $350. I went back there to get a paper prescription to take somewhere else to see if I could use good RX, I went to two different pharmacies. They both tried to call the doctor and they didn't get an answer from the whole place. They don't answer the phone, so I went back again, and the PA was unwilling to give me something that my insurance would cover. So I basically spent 4 1/2 hours in pain and driving back-and-forth from pharmacies to the urgent care and absolutely got no care. I will never go back there again and you should strongly think about going somewhere else. read more

This is a follow-up to my original review. I received a call from the manager of the Potomac MedStar Urgent Care location. He was inadequate in correcting any of the problems I encountered during my last visit. He said he has no managerial control over the providers. He made lackluster excuses for keeping me waiting an hour and a half after my appointment time. He refused to give me his name, only referred to himself as "Henry." I have since reached out to the regional manager and was unable to locate him. He is Dr. Jasmeet Bhogal. So I have a call out to MedStar Corporate Headquarters. Let's see if we get any satisfaction from them. We deserve to have an urgent care facility that we can rely on to give good, timely care. read more

I had a pretty good experience here. I had a quick problem and needed a quick solution and they certainly took care of me in that respect. I was in and out in probably under 45 minutes despite the fact that I did not have an appointment, and just showed up as a "walk in". I was seen almost immediately by a NP who ordered appropriate testing and prescriptions. I was able to sign onto the portal at home and check on results without any fuss. There is plenty of parking and the place is open at convenient hours. I have to say also that the facility is a lot cleaner than it used to be. I had been to the previous walk-in clinic here a number of times and while the treatment I received had always been excellent, the place was starting to get scruffy and run-down. I would give a 'zero' star rating if it was an option. I am a physician myself, so this encounter was especially disturbing. The PA, Eliana Assimakapoulos, is unprofessional and rude. I brought my 11 year old daughter in for possible fracture of the arm. She also has a chronic nerve disorder called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), which causes severe pain in the affected area with even the slightest touch. She has this in her left knee and foot. I asked the PA is she was familiar with this rare disorder and she said she was. During the exam, which should have been a focused exam on the arm, she started checking her reflexes and pulses In both legs. My daughter specifically asked her not to touch her affected knee, but before I could stop her, she hit her on the knee, which caused her extreme pain and made her cry. I asked her to not touch her left foot and my daughter did as well. She replied and said she was only going to check her pulse. She touched her foot -and caused even more pain; my daughter was sobbing at this point. I asked her to stop the exam and step out. At this point, I let her know that what she did was unprofessional and that she has physically hurt my daughter. I informed her that all we needed was an x-ray at this point and that the exam was over. She was not sorry in the least. As a health care provider, it's important to take feedback from patients, no matter what the perception or intent of the interaction is- if a patient is hurt because of your action- intentional or not- an apology is needed. It is also important to recognize one's gaps in medical knowledge- as she clearly didn't understand CRPS. She should NOT be seeing pediatric patients. She lacks bedside manner and empathy. Google her name and you will see another parent who complained about her child's care a few years ago. Righttime- I hope you take action to better vet your providers and train them when issues like this are brought to your attention. read more

Why take appointments if you can't come close to seeing a patient in ample time. Find another urgent care. There is nothing about MedStar I see worth the wait. read more

I visited this Righttime today 1 April 2020 around 1pm. I did not have an appointment. I was having a massive migraine and had taken meds and it did not work. I arrived at the righttime clinic and found the receptionist serving some two ladies. Upon seeing me she said "go and wait outside" . Anyone who has visited this righttime know they have lots of sitting places that can allow social distance. Anyway, I stepped out - it was cold outside and freezing. The two ladies left and i went inside and the receptionist took my details. I sat down and she called me - she had such a negative attitude towards me. I just brushed it off cos i was in so much pain all i need was to see a doctor so i could be helped to calm the migraine. I was ushered in to a room and a nurse came in to assist me. she was so pleasant. The doctor was the best and very understanding. She helped me out and asked me to wait for a prescription for just in case i experience a migraine later. I stayed in the room for a round 10 minutes then went to the reception - whatever the doctor gave me was working wonders - i felt like a totally new person. When i got to the reception, I found the same lady and told her i was waiting for my prescription. While seated a family of 4 or 5 came in. The lady was very pleasant to them. Took their details and asked the to sit down. They came and sat on the side i was sitting. At this point i was like - wait a minute. How come i got told to go and wait outside in the cold when the reception area was actually empty - there were only two ladies being served at the counter. I am not a native of this country - so the first thing that came to mind - wow! i just experienced my first discrimination. Anyway, the doctor brought me my prescription and i went and asked the lady at the reception why she treated me the way she did. Her answer was "you did not have an appointment the family that came in have one" . If the clinic was full of people, of course i would have understood why i was being asked to wait outside in the cold but it was empty. Is this how Righttime treats their potential patients? Yes we are in a pandemic but your office allows walk ins. I have been to this right-time i think this was my 4th time (twice last year and twice this year), i have never been treated this way. I came in for a COVID test and because of a backache which came out of nowhere, the likes of which I had never experienced. Let's start with the COVID test. I needed this to have a test done in a hospital three days later. I would find the results in my Labcorp app, said Medstar's staff. But they weren't there as of the night before the hospital visit, so I telephoned Medstar. They had the results but didn't post the because...they got my birthday wrong by 30 years! This despite me already being in their system for a very long time and after filling out repetitive forms the width of a book the night of entry. As for the back pain? I described the pain and gave a urine sample. Never saw an MD. The physicians assistant prescribed a month supply of lidocaine pain patches, which I declined in favor of the less potent over-the-counter version. These had no effect. And that was it, aside from a ten-page printout about back pain that I could have easily found on Google. I wondered "why did I even go there?" I came out feeling no different than when I walked in the clinic. Filled out a duplicate compendium of forms as I took two distinct medical issues to Medstar. My GP two days later identified a sciatic nerve issue & proscribed a muscle relaxant. read more

Awesome staff, super easy. Rachael Lewis has seen me for a couple different issues. Most recently I was sick and wanted to be safe that it wasn't Covid, so I went in. She listened to my lungs and heart, ran vitals, took a blood draw to see about my white count (if it's an infection basically), then also ran a strep test, flu test and Covid test. The flu and strep tests came back negative as expected, and the blood panel showed normal white count so likely viral. 2 days later learned I was covid free. Could be as simple as a cold, who knows, but I like that they immediately took me seriously and wore full PPE to do the tests, which made sense since I did have a fever of 100.4. Literally was in and out within 15-20 minutes total and was still patient and answered all my questions. I'll go here instead of my primary care doc because it's so easy and convenient and they clearly know what they're doing. read more

There was no doctor at the facility. The x-ray that they use is not powerful enough to see enough to make a diagnosis. There's no phone number to call for follow-up care. They wrapped my arm too tight and my hand started to swell. They did not have sling that fit me. They told me I had fractured my arm and it was not fractured according to a specialist I saw today. People were pleasant and professional. I was seen almost immediately. The facility was clean and designed properly. read more

I want to take the time to tell you that I had a wonderful experience at Right Time. The provider, Rachel Lewis, took the time to evaluate my issue and sent me for a preventative test. Thankfully, she was spot on and the follow-up test at the radiologist showed a blood clot, which thanks to Rachel, I wouldn't have known. I'm thankful she was able to get me on the right track. She followed up with me personally the next day to check in and make sure I was doing well. I'd definitely seek medical help from Rachel again. The rest of the staff at the Potomac clinic was great, too. Very professional and courteous, and took extra precautions in these uncertain times. read more

I have probably never received worse service at a medical establishment. I got there at 2:20 and the first appointment was at 2:55. They said that I would almost certainly be called back sooner, but instead they called me back ten minutes late. Then I waited another whole hour for the doctor to come to the waiting room. Finally, the doctor couldn't prescribe anything useful for my infection and said I needed to go to a specialist who is really hard to get an appointment with in order to be treated. read more

I was very unhappy with the care I received there on Monday, Jan 28, 2019. I am an experienced RN coming to them for help with abdominal pain. I told the woman PA that I had these exact same symptoms eight years earlier and what I thought it was. She totally ignored me, saying since it was 8 years ago, I could not possibly remember accurately. She also gave me all the possible diagnosis which I had no signs of and dismissed what I had to say. While there, my internist called and I scheduled a follow up appt with her in 2days after the PA agreed to give me a prescription for the antibiotics. The techs tried 2times to draw blood and could not, even though I pointed to a vein that was used last month with good results. Both techs refused to try that vein. Then the PA comes back and refuses to give my the antibiotics I needed to start working on the infection since she called my MD and inaccurately said I was seeing someone later in the day which I told her I could not keep. I went in for a simple A1c check and they couldn't draw my blood (couldn't find my vein) and sent me to Quest. They also did a urine test. The online 4 days later Result for the test suggested presence of Some bacterial infection yet no one bothered to contact me or talk to me about it! I went in, in person to follow up on both results. No one bothered to come talk To me and the receptionist said The results were Negative where my records in my portal Suggested otherwise. These people Don't care about anything! If I could give Rachel Lewis, NP, 0 stars, I would. Totally unprofessional and rude. She told us that even if our child had the flu, it would have to run it's course without offering tamiflu. She actually didn't even offer a flu swab or any other differential until I asked. This was one of the reasons we were sent to urgent care in the middle of the night by our pediatrician. She didn't do much of a physical exam and did not even listen to our kid's lungs. She pointedly rolled her eyes if I asked a question or raised concerns about flu. She promptly walked out of the exam room-- in the middle of a question I was asking-- and slammed the door shut. This was obvious to the family members in the room with us, one of whom commented on her lack of professionalism. As a physician, I know her knowledge of flu treatment is inappropriate and it is concerning that she is taking care of patients this way. I would not recommend coming here.
