The sales people are wayyy to pushy. They tell you that the price they are offering is a one time deal. You must sign with them on the day they come out or they claim the price will go up. If the door was really as good as they say they shouldn't have to push people into purchasing. I understand they are salesman on a commission but I think they went overboard. Terrible products rusted window guards and door guard they started rusting before the warranty expired. Their service dept manger look at my pictures and said how bad they look showed them to the manger Mike Smirnoff he offered me 2000.00 to come out and repaint the guards. The owner states on his web site you will be satisfied we guarantee it!! I emailed the owner who sent out the project manger with a attitude and offer me 1500.00 to repaint the guards. They know their product is defective, They did not tell me the guards would rust and needed repainting they are the worst company. I am only giving one star because I believe that is the lowest rating you can give a company. I just read two negative reviews on the Medallion Security Door & Window Company located in Forestville, MD. I experience a very dishonest and unprofessional sales presentation. I like several other did not want bother sitting through a full blow sales pitch, but they continue to talk anyway. I had several security gates I wanted added on my back deck door and patio door in the basement of my house. I was also looking at getting a security door front entry door. They started with the price at $21,000. When I began to ask additional questions they claimed they were giving me a discount by dropping the price to $14,100. When I decided to remove the steel entry front door which was suppose be priced at $3,000. They changed the price $13,100 claiming because I was unsure about what I wanted they could not give me the full discounts. The so called manager that came to the sale pitch said some inappropriate comment to me which offended me and I told him that. Finally, I asked to see written estimate. It did not have any product information listed, the materials cost were not broke down and labor was not broken down. Also they lied to me because they told me that each security door price was $2,500 ea. including labor but when I saw the written quote. They had labor down twice @$4,500. This is a dishonest and in my opinion crooked company. I would not do business with them. Also they told me that coupon I had with the terms on the 5 year no interest did not have all the details for the program. However, I had already called the company prior to the appointment and had the coupon in my hand when I questioned the sales person. Basically, he claimed if I did not sign on the dotted line today, I would not be able to take advantage of the no interest offer. However, the coupon stated that for this month only, if your credit was approved you could take the no interest offer. Lies, and more lies. Stay far away from this company, very far away. read more

We love our fence that was built by Medallion! Our fence was built last summer and has held up really well through all kinds of weather. The builders had the wonderful idea of building a little nook to give us as much yard as possible around where the cement widens at the end of our walkway (where posts could not be inserted). It makes the standard white fence look so unique, as well. We had a miscommunication about the fencing that we wanted to enclose the HVAC and garbage cans, but Medallion came back and corrected it. Now it looks beautiful! Mike was our sales person. We appreciated Mike and management through the process. Medallion also built a gorgeous fence for my parents! Mike had several great ideas and suggestions for their fence. The builders were even kind enough to clear the woods out, move a huge arbor swing into place, and replant one of my Mother's bushes that needed to be moved. RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Worst experience of my life. They are dishonest cheats that take advantage of their customers. They especially prey on first time home buyers. I remember the day Bob James, their dishonest salesman came to my home to give me an estimate. He told me how their family business cared for their customers and I was stupid enough to believe him. He looked me in the eye and lied to me and told me that I could cancel my contract ANYTIME. I called Bob James and he told me that I could only cancel in three business days in writing and pointed me to some fine print. Also they count Saturday as a business day. I had called after 4 days (including a Saturday). That is when my nightmare began. He told me I had to proceed with the deal and I had no choice or they would sue me. Nice way to start business don't you think? I asked to speak to the manager. He referred me to Mike Mcleen the general manager, who was obviously in on the scam because he was laughing at me on the phone. He even said that they would take me to court and win because they had done it before. I also got a threatening letter from their lawyer who they employ for this purpose. Obviously this is one of their methods of getting business because they cannot get it based on quality of work. They FORCE you to do business with them because you signed the contract. What kind of a company FORCES you to do business with them? Later on I saw that in the quality of their work and it made sense to me why they had to force people into business with them. After they came and forcibly built my patio I was so disappointed with the quality of their work or I should say lack of quality as well as the way they treated their customers. They came and started work without informing me even though they said someone would come and talk to me before they started the work. They did not keep me posted as to what was going on at all during the process. Interestingly enough they didn't work on Saturday even though they considered Saturday a business day for the sake of tricking me when it came to the contract. Then all of a sudden I got a "notice of completion" email for me to sign even though I was told someone would come and do a walk through with me after completion to make sure I was happy. The patio was built so badly with large gaps between the blocks. Most of the "red" blocks were whitish. The finish work was so amateur and incomplete looking. My yard grass surrounding the patio is all torn up and a total mess. It looked SO BAD!!!!. I was devastated. I called several times and left messages and no one would call me back. Mike Mcleen even sent me a virus email. Finally I got through and asked someone to come by so I could show them the issues. They filled some of the gaps and put seeds to regrow my grass. The gaps look slightly better but months later, the grass still hasn't grown and my yard still looks terrible and the patio finish work is still amateur. I have never had such a bad experience in my life. I feel cheated, forced and the worst part is I have to look at that awful patio which is built so badly and my yard which in such bad shape EVERY SINGLE DAY as a reminder of this whole nightmare. Moreover their "warranty" has so many stipulations, there might as well be no warranty. I learnt my lesson the hard way never to trust these sleazy businesses and to read reviews prior to calling anyone. I am writing this so no one else has to go through this.They are dishonest, have very bad business practices, unethical and EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!! BE AWARE OF THE TRICKY SALESMAN ERIC!!! RUN FAST & STAY AWAY!!!! I would like to thank all who wrote such honest reviews, especially the reviews that refer to the salesman Eric who is a lying snake. After I signed a contract with Eric, I read the reviews and was able to dodge the bullet of a $19,000.00 contract, which I cancelled within the allowable time. This $19,000 contract consisted of a 5/4x6 composite porch (which is smaller than my actual size porch of 6x26 wood porch); a 4X6 landing in the back of the house; and 8 security windows. Many times I requested an estimate for the front porch, back landing, and a separate estimate for 8 security windows. Eric said each window cost $1,000 and said he was giving me the windows for free. Now I know the windows were not free. Let's do the simple math: $1,000 x 8 windows=$8,000 total for windows --- for FREE? NOT AT ALL!!!!! They were included in the $19K. If they were not included, that would mean the porch cost is $19K alone not including the windows since the windows were free, right? Wrong, not free! This company does not give anything for free. Instead they OVER PRICE EVERYTHING. Eric lies! So I asked the question: "why are you GIVING me the windows for FREE? Eric says: because I'm a long time customer. That's bull crap. Countless times I asked him what was the cost of the porch and what was the cost of the windows in my contract and I never could not get a honest response. He said the price all together was about $28,000 but he was giving it to me for $19K and the windows were FREE! Again that's bull crap. Then I told him I wanted to cancel my contract. Then he continued lying that the windows are free. He proceeded to throw in some bones...opps... I mean throw in some extra "nick-nacks", such as giving me an extra screen and plexi-glass for my security doors (which I've purchased years ago and do NOT need it to be replaced and to change the locks (only for cosmetic purposes) from gold to nickel locks (again nothings wrong with the locks on my security doors). The contract was already overpriced, so I guess throwing these little bones in was supposed to make me think I was getting more for my money. To add even more insult to the injury, Eric proceeded telling me my porches were not up to building codes when my builders built my home 13 years ago. Immediately, I informed him that I had a home inspector to inspect my brand new home then and had no problems with my porches. To add even more insult to the injury, he continues with these lies saying the floor joists were not there and saying I had no supporting system on my porches. A HORRIBLE SALES PITCH!!! That was supposed to scare me to continue to keep the contract because my "porches could collapse" at any moment because HE SAID I had no support system. So I asked Eric to point it out to me, which I could clearly see the joists were there and that he was clearly lying. Then he continued lying by saying my joists is not up to building codes because it suppose to be 16" apart from each other and said mine was 24" apart. But wait! Didn't he just said I didn't have any joists to support my porches? Again, I could clearly see the joists and see without a measuring tape that IT WAS 16" apart. Then he pulled out his measuring tape (which did not help him and made it worst for him) and tried to adjust the tape to be 24" like I'm stupid and can't see the difference. I took the measuring tape from his hand and I measured it and showed him IT WAS 16" and showed him the LYER AND DISHONEST PERSON ERIC IS. Again, I cancelled this OVER PRICED contract. Now the company is trying to make another offer to lower the amount, which I am NOT interested in doing any future business with Medallion because they should have done it right the first time. I don't have time for these sales games and this is my hard earned money. I have to eat too. In addition, I recently reviewed my previous contract from my security doors and windows which I purchased with Medallion in 2004 and found I was con then to pay unnecessary and was overpriced. Now I really do NOT TRUST this company anymore and will NOT be doing any future business with them. YOU CAN'T TRUST THEM especially with a salesperson like ERIC. RUN and RUN FAST!!!! And to think I had this snake in my house smiling and lying to me. He had the nerve to call me "sista". No brotha of mine. Again, I thank everyone for their reviews which helped me to make my final decision with canceling this contract. This company should just stick to security doors and windows. They installed both for me and there were no problems. I had them install a fence in my back yard. I asked would I get a discount because I referred my neighbor and they told me NO. They installed my neighbor's fence the day after mine. They only put up a wall between our yards on my side. That is cutting corners! There should have been a wall on both sides of the property line. They did not build my fence flush to the ground and I had all kinds of wild life coming into my yard. I called them to fix this problem and give me an estimate on removing the fence. They wanted me to pay hundreds of dollars to fix something that never should have been a problem! Of course they don't return calls when they are in the wrong. I was also told at a home supply store that Medallion is overpriced, and I should have shopped around. Lesson learned! read more

I would never recommend this company! The sales person Eric Lamont made everything sound so great and decided my deck size for me which was 14 ft. wide and 10ft projected. I told them several times that seems small they said no its not it's pretty big. Once the deck was getting build I tried to call right away because I was not satisfied with the size at all and didn't want them to waste their time to redue it. I called, emailed, left voicemails and text messages and never hear nothing back from my sales rep Eric. He basically disappears. Not to mention I had to reach out to them to see when they were coming out. The sales guy ensured me it would be done in July my deck was not started on until August. The fencing on the deck takes off a foot but do they tell you about that when they try to show you the measurements with a measuring tape NO!! I hate the size of my deck!! I hate going home and seeing it every day. They charged me $8,000 for a 14 by 10 deck and when I asked them to add 4 by 14 more feet they asked for an additional $2,500. Its ridiculous how they price things. If 4 by 14 ft. cost $2,500 than my 10 by 14 ft. deck should have been $6,250. Instead of making things right they tell me I can always add on. I want my deck right the first time I don't want to pay more to add on that's ridiculous. It should of been how I want it the first time around. They told me before I signed my contract that if I'm not satisfied than I don't sign the Certificate of completion and they don't get paid but that's Bull crap because I am not satisfied and they can't do anything to fix it. They stated 30 people can fit on the deck and I'm 5'2 and 30 of me would not fit at all!!! I refuse to pay $10,500 for a 14 by 14 ft. deck that price is bull crap and everyone knows it. Talking to the general Manager Mike Smirnoff wasn't helpful either he tried to charge me $3,600 additionally and ask me your doing a payment plan right, WHY DOES THAT MATTER!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They don't care about their customers and they disappear after you sign the contract. Also one of the project managers Mike McClee sent me spam mail from his email about how to lose weight and when I emailed him back wondering why he could not give me a phone call but sent me this ridiculous email he stated I didn't do it someone must of hacked my email. Go somewhere else! I have purchased three security doors, one security window, one set of iron railings, and windows from this sorry company. I recently phoned them because I needed two screens for one of my security doors replaced. After speaking to Franklin, who answered he phone like he was sleeping, he gave me the run around and did not know what mecahnics were involved. I asked for a manager and her kept telling me no one was around or that the one that was there was on the phone. Finally Irwin the manager of customer service got on the phone and he couldnt answer any questions either. I explained that I would come to the office next week when Chester the owner came back from "vacation" to find out how to get these screens replaced - one screen of which was attached to the non-movable side of my two-part patio security door and couldnt even be reached by hand. Irwin was over-talking me and then transferred me to the general manager of the place, Michael Smirnoff. He was arrogant and felt like he was doing me a favor to explain that it would cost 50 dollars per screen, 175 dollars to come to the house, and hourly labor charges to change a screen! Mr. Smirnoff spoke like he was ego tripping and had no respect for me as a customer who has invested a great deal of money in their products years ago. I have also refrerred three neighbors to them who had break-ins and needed doors. I am very sorry to have given them all of this business since clearly the executive level manager, mr smirnoff, could care less what he tells people or what they have to say. This company is full of crooks when it comes to getting your hard-earned, after tax, American money and feel very justified to do it legally. It's a family-owned business so go do business elsewhere. They cannot be trusted to value you or stand by their inferior products when they rust away prematurely or need a simple screen panel change - without costing you hundreds/thousands of dollars and lots of aggravation. They get rich while you get taken. The GM is proud of his position and his company's policy on how they treat and exploit customers. Like he said, " hey, I take offense about you telling me that my attitude is arrogant!". His condescending demeanor is why the employees treat customers the way that they do. Medallion is the worst company ever to do business with. It took them 4 weeks to get a permit and when they did the application was filled out incorrectly according to the D.C. Regulatory Comission. After all that I decided to cancel and get my down payment of $2,000 back. When I went to the office they presented me with a check for $1,580. They deducted $420 for all the hidden fees that they don't tell you about up front or in the contract. Just a total ripoff. If I could give them a zero I would. They are pitiful! Buyer beware!!! We purchased over 20 windows from Medallion a few years ago that came with a "life time warranty". However, when we discovered that our windows were defective - argon gas leaks, discoloration, etc., we found out that we didn't have a valid warranty. The manufacturer for the windows Accu-Weld had declared bankruptcy before our windows were installed and one year later the company that bought Accu-Weld, Haddon Windows, did not assume any of their liabilities and eventually they also went out of business. We contacted Medallion, and after years of debate, they agreed to replace the windows at a significant cost to us. Medallion explained that they had no idea that either company had financial problems nor did they know that the companies had gone out of business. Medallion stated "retailers sell manufactures' products as a matter of course trusting as does that the manufactures will be around to honor their warranties should the need arise". Who does business like that, if they want to stay in business!! I firmly believe it is their responsibility as is mine to ensure that the folks we have a business relationship with have earned our trust. Medallion definitely failed us in the trust area. Bottom line, do your own homework and research the manufacturers thoroughly before signing a contract with Medallion or any other company. Don't use Medallion Security Door and Windows, their sales personnel are dishnonest, use deceptive sales practice and misleading. They did major work on my home, I asked the Field Manager who is a fast, slick talker to give me monthly payments. I was told on several occassions the price was going to be one thing, then when I received the bill from the lender it was double what I was told. When i called the Field Manager/Sales person who I dealt with; he was being slick again and said oh that not the pirce. I'm still fighting to get the payment to what I was told, but the lender won't budge. This sale guy, very deceptive, misleading and lies in your face, and will say anything to get a sale. My credit which has been great all my life is now being ruined by the deceptive sales pracitce of this guys. I don't recommend anyone use Medallion. read more

Terrible. Disappointed in the lack of customer service to fix their problem. I purchased several security doors years ago. On the last door, the paint has started chipping on the inside and outside of the door. I spoke to several sales managers and they wanted pictures of the door. I sent the pictures. We played phone tag for weeks, very unresponsive. I purchased several doors in the past and the paint has not chipped on those so I didn't think it should be doing this on the newer door. They tell me it cost $1,000 to refurbish the door that is the only thing they can do. That is like buying a new door! I got a second opinion and I was told this should not have happened if the door was properly primed and sealed in the beginning. I can see the metal under the chippings. Management should do more to keep loyal customers and come back to fix the problem. I will look for other companies with better customer service to take action for a reasonable fee or free to warranty their product based on their poor workmanship. read more

This is long but the short version please bare with me....The customer service is horrible! We dealt with Mike and The biggest issue lack of communication on the part of the Medallion management regarding our build and not following up to fix any of the deficiencies or refund us for any of the mistakes made on their part. We had a deck and patio installed. We met discussed what we wanted, informed the company that we needed the work complete in a certain timeframe completed by June 25th. Per the office manager they were to start Monday June 27th already a week behind schedule. That never happened. We needed special approval from the county based on where we live. The company didn't know anything about it. I had to inform them of this. Then come to find out they didn't need a permit at all to do the patio. We asked that they start the work for the patio and begin work on the deck later. They said no. They didn't work like that which put the project two weeks behind. They made no alterations to the design based on the HOA contingencies clearly stated in the approval. They finally get started in July. The railings are the wrong color per the HOA, the pavers for the patio circle are the wrong color per our request, the square fire pit we requested is round the wrong size and the wrong color, None of which were fixed to be what we ordered although they were notified the items were wrong. The patio itself is so small the fire pit is 3 inches from the house. How did you create a design that would put fire that close to the house. They said fire code is only for gas not wood burning. I said isn't wood burning hotter and more unpredictable than gas? I can control gas or cut it off....just no consideration for safety...We had to increase the size of the patio which cost an addition 5k. However that makes the patio at least 5 inches off the ground, for safety you now need stairs on the patio. Do you think they informed us of this. Sigh! Let's just say we now have one little step that looks completely out of place like an after thought (we will hire another company to do the stairs). The workers struck the pipes to our sprinkler system and completely damaged it. Water was everywhere and of course we had to cut the water off from the main valve. Which means no water for days! They tried to fix it by filling it with glue and filled it back in but the leak was not fixed. Our water bill sky high! We finally called the sprinkler company to come and they had to dig up and repair the entire line because it was still leaking and backed up from the glue and Medallion said they would only pay for half of the charges. We were responsible for the other half. How in the world are we responsible for damages your workers caused? Let me just state again this is the short version and I would NEVER recommend MEDALLION to anyone EVER! The office management has got to do better. read more

I am so disappointed in this company, I can't stand it!! And the sad part is I came back to them because I was a previous customer many years ago. What a difference they are now. I paid good money for 4 security storm doors and within a week I asked them to come back to adjust the closure. The salesman, Eric, told me I could do that myself but I told him after paying as much money as I did for the doors, I deserved customer service until I was satisfied. He said yes ma'am and said he would come out on Saturday. He asked me to call him to remind him, which I did. He never showed up and stopped answering my calls. I then called the office and complained of that and described how the doors now do not close properly. It appears they are not aligned properly. After speaking with another supervisor, Franklin, I was assured they would come out. Again, I am sitting here waiting well after they promised to be here and yet again no one has showed up or called. I purchased a fence from this company and I should have listened to my gut. First of all the sale rep came to my house and after an hour and a half of discussion I thought I was getting a good deal. I was told that the color and the lights on my fence were being given to me for free because my fence was the first one purchased on my street and they would use it as a selling vehicle to get future sales. So we go outside so he can measure my backyards and I notice 5 kids moving around in he car and this was in Dec and the temp was about 50 degrees. I almost told the guy no sale because you had your kids waiting in your car without heat as the car engine was not running. So let me fast forward to my application for a request for exterior changes was sent to my HOA on Dec 31st and I was told by Medallion that the approval process would take roughly 30 days. So I fast forward to Feb 18th where I am copied on an email from the HOA to Medallian informing them that they sent the request to the wrong person and that in the future they should check within a week as to the fact that they always send an email confirming the request is being processed. So lets fast forward to the middle of March where I finaly recieved an email from my HOA stating I received approvel. I did not hear from Medallian as to when they would install my fence. I only heard from Medallian via phone on April 1st stating that they were at my residence installing my fence. They did not consider the fact that I might have wanted to be home to see where they were actually going to put my fence instead the person I talked to was trying to explain how they were going to do it over the phone. Things got worse before it got better at the end of the day I received a call stating that some of the material was damaged so they would come back out 2 days later to complete the job. On Sat they did come back out only to leave without completing the job and there was no call from Medallion stating when the job would be completed. So on the following Monday I finally called Madallion to complain and to tell them how unexceptable I thought the whole process was and to add insult to injury I was toild that they were unaware of what had happened with getting the HOA's permission. I do NOT recommend this company. They are rife with incompetence and I feel as if I did pay too much for the fence I purchased. The only positive is that through their 5 year no interest loan it will be paid off in 5 years because they calculate the monthly payments to equal the total cost. So if you make your payments on time it will be paid in full in 5 years or less at your choosing. BE WARNED DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

Ok. I typically don't write reviews but due to the absolute worse customer service, I felt I needed to warn others of this company's poor business practices. First they give you this extensive sales pitch and let you know that their quality is so much better than other companies. We purchased a screened porch and fence. During the project, there were times when no one would call us after weeks of nothing getting done. Workers never completed the screened porch but apparently they told our sales person Eric the job was done. Medallion has billed me for a job that is not complete after telling us that their policy is no payment until the job is complete and we are satisfied. After constantly bringing issues like these to the attention of our Medallion rep. Eric, he rudely yelled at me and my husband saying he saw pictures that my job was complete and he would cancel our payment plan and make us pay the full amount up front. His nasty attitude never allowed him to hear our simple complaint that the job is not finished. The porch does not have the carpet, ceiling fans or electrical outlets installed and my back yard has been trashed with nails and plastic containers. Dishonest company, poor workmanship. We bought a deck from them, and upgraded the wood because of "lifetime guarantee".. A few years later, we had to fix 1000's of dollars of water damage to our basement. The cause? Medallion did not install flashing between the deck and the house, and that was the cause of the leaks. A few years later (now 10 years) the deck planks are worn out. The cause? Shoddy rafters were used, with imperfections on the nailing surface that they filled with liquid nails or some other material (we can see it when we took the panks off), so the plank screws would bite in. Now, some of the rafters are completely rotten, and the planks have now cracked failed from flexing. Called them back, and reminded them of the lifetime guarantee, and they're like "that was 10 years ago!" Apparently lifetime guarantee means nothing to them but a few more $$$ from you.. They won't honor it- they won't return my calls or emails, nothing.. Try to get a hold of their manager! He's always "not available".. The rafters are not even equally spaced (or using some standard measurement) they are all random distances from the next one.. Ridiculous!!! Don't give these guys your money. read more

Terrible business practices! I had a sunroom built by this company and dealing with their business office and general manager was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. They billed my line of credit a month and a half before the job was done and I disputed the charges. The dispute resolution infuriated the business manager and he tried to bully us into paying cash for the project. He was aggressive and mean spirited regarding the entire situation. He renegotiated the cost of an add on request and later lied about the negotiation. Today, I got a letter from an attorney demanding payment for the remaining balance, or they would rescind the warranty provided for the work and file a suit for collection with no further noticed. I never received a statement from Medallion requesting payment for what they perceived to be the remaining balance, just a letter from their attorney. Save yourself the headache and stay clear of them. read more
