I was referred to this place by the worker's compensation team at my workplace due to a work related injury on my right hand. The first couple of visits were rough because I was in a lot of pain. The team that treated me was composed of very caring and dedicated individuals. Their dedication and genuine care help me recuperate. In the beginning, I was a bit surprised with the exercises but the exercises help me with my coordination and hand strength. I would definitely use their services again. I bring my mom here for physical therapy, and even though it's about a 40-minute drive, it's completely worth it. The atmosphere is so nice, and the staff are wonderful--it makes the drive worth it twice a week. Everyone here is very professional, always patient, and they do their work with a smile while treating the patients with so much respect. I started my physical therapy here in February of 2022 and things were ok until it wasn't. I had a session in March of the same year with Micheal. Side note..I always brought my son with me on my visits because I was healing from surgery from a quad tendon repair and was in a wheelchair so he had to assist with any walking I had to do. Back to the session..my son and I are in the room and things are moving along and I'm asked how much flexibility I had in my knee I told Michael not much..I remember him looking over at my son with this weird grin on his face as if the thought could've been I wasnt being honest or just wait and see what I do to it. Now Michael asked me to turn on my stomach and once there he put my left foot on his shoulder, put his hand behind my knee then leaned into it...I SCREAMED SO LOUD!!!!!! He backed off of my leg and asked was I ok..I really couldn't think straight because the pain was excruciating! My son looked at me with that whatha hell look in his eyes because I literally broke out in a cold sweat from the pain. Therapy was over at that point because I told him my knee couldn't bend that far but obviously he didn't listen. For the rest of that year my knee continued to get more and more painful. I thought it was just from that horrible experience so I ignored until I couldn't. My doctor ordered an MRI in April of 2023 found out my meniscus had a bad tear in it smh. After that, I went back to the surgeon that repaired my quad tendon. He looked at the MRI and said he wouldn't touch it because if he were to trim any part of my meniscus a total knee collapse would be a matter of time. When he told me I'd unfortunately have to live with this shit for the rest of my life I was pissed because my mind went right back to the moment my foot was on Michael's shoulder and him leaning into my leg and forcing it to bend! I contacted the owner Mr. Chinn and let him know what happened. He told me he wished I would've told him sooner.. that wasn't possible because I didn't find out what permanent damage was caused until the next year! Anyways he offered an apology which is no good because you guessed it..my knee is still in constant pain 3 years later with a lifetime to go!! I told him to retrain his staff and tell them to listen when a patient says they can't do something. It's a shame to go to a place for help and come out injured. If Mr. Chinn responds and doesn't remember this incident I'd gladly attach the email I sent to him back in 2023. read more

I have to let everyone know why I consider Medcessity to be the best treatment facility in the history of my injury. The occupational team worked tirelessly to treat my injury and I rate them 5 stars and an A+++++ because I am pleased with their work. Manuel worked hard to get me approved for care, by going out of the way to contact my adjuster when it looked like I would not be approved for treatments. Melanie made me knowledgeable about the exercises I was expected to complete and the purpose behind using them. She has a special warmth in her care, and I enjoyed her services. Lastly, Cheryl was amazing in my exiting. She made sure to listen and note my concerns about ending my treatments and made me feel valued. I e been coming for 5 months to work on pain reduction from degenerative disc disease. My therapist Josh remained committed to my recovery and he motivated me to do as much as possible at home as far as exercises. He is a very knowledgable and personable professional. At times during mid morning and mid afternoon, there can be too many patients on the floor. The ventilation system is antiquated and there can be a feeling of stuffy stagnant air during crowded times. I recommend mask wearing during floor work. Newer equipment should be considered. But the most important element exists here and that is high quality and caring professionals. read more

I am a volunteer at Medcessity. The occupational therapists are genuinely caring and empathetic to the clients' needs. They take the work seriously and I am very impressed how many clients they take on in a day. It is a busy facility but they keep the atmosphere organized and calm. I was getting OT from different facilities with very slow recovery rate/progress but when I started here... within one month of seeing Cherry I was able to expand movement in my arm so quickly I'd get emotional with every milestone o hit I tell everyone about coming here for the best hand therapists! I started coming to Medcessity for a shoulder problem I've had for a few years now. When I came in my shoulder was pretty tight and I had pain when I moved my arm in different directions. Over the last few months my range of motion has improved greatly and the pain has gotten a lot better through their sessions and stretching/exercise regiments I do at home. Melanie, Samantha and Josette were guiding my progress for the most part and took great care of me. They answered all of the questions I had during my appointments and were very nice. This place is a joke! I called to try to make an appointment never called me back. I called 3 separate times to see if they can help me. Each time, I called there was either an excuse that personperson that needed to help me was not there and they will call me back which they never did when I called back. Another person answered saying that they had too many faxes and they haven't got to mine yet they never called me back. When I finally called third time, I asked to speak to supervisor. When the supervisor finally called me back, I try to explain my situation and basically he didn't wanna hear it so I'll take my business somewhere else. Good luck if you go here. read more

My first was great. Dr Jonathan Chim was nice, he listened to everything I had to say about my pain. He was able to tell me exactly what was causing my pain. something the hospital neglected to tell me. He was patient and understanding and didn't make me feel like an idiot. He showed me some exercises for my back and I left in better spirits. The two lady receipts were sweet as well, very nice. Totally recommend to anyone who needs PT. I hurt my meniscus on my right leg and was referred to Medcessity for physical therapy. I never had PT before so the only thing I had ever heard was that it HURT! Upon arriving and filling out the paperwork. I was called in the back by Johnathan and impressed me immediately with the way he spoke, showed interest, cared and explained what I would be going thru. He was extremely professional and warm. He also took care in the way he would move and stretch and massage my leg. All of which I totally appreciated. Then he handed me off to Frank who had me on the stationary bike and would ask if I was ok and checked on me repeatedly to ensure I was OK. Then I was handed off to Alvin for Pilates on the push up and back bed, tippy toes, sit up and downs, bridge, the calf stretcher, balance surf board LoL. Then back to Frank for the Stem and ice packs. Then back to Jonathan who asked me how I was doing. I have to say the staff was wonderful and knowledgeable. They made me feel very comfortable. And when I first walked in there I was limping. And now I am switching LoL, not really switching but, I am not limping. I can tell I have made progress with just 6 therapy sessions and I look forward to more as I see my progress improving tremendously. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! If I could give them 10 stars I would! I was feeling really down about my diagnosis with my orthopedist and I walked in and felt extremely comfortable. All the office staff was lovely, especially Katie who laughed at all my silly jokes. Josh Silva was my therapist and he was so thorough. He didn't laugh when I explained my condition and he was shocked at how the orthopedist asked me which problem of the 3 I wanted her to treat. He taught me how to do the therapy at home and made a special personalized list for me. I came here, because my mother went for hand therapy and it's the only place that has helped her. I wish I lived closer and the exercises help me focus on posture when I'm just sitting, I do the exercises. I was so happy when I left and felt so much better. I have been coming to Medcessity for quite a while now. I had injuries stemming from work, that would not go away! During my many visits, I asked Jonathan Chinn to check my arm that was causing me pain! After several rotations of my arm and shoulder he came to the conclusion that I had a small tear in my shoulder, rotator cup! After hearing this I took his words to heart. I made an appointment with United medical imaging of Torrance. I had an MRI performed & sure enough I had a small tear! I consider Jonathan Chinn my hero. I was walking around with this everyday occurrence of pain in my arm. Because it was in my arm, I had no idea it was really the shoulder! I am very grateful to be going to this place, where education and knowledge is very important. This place understands pain and how to locate it. Now I am doing physical therapy in that area. I feel an improvement in my shoulder, because of Jonathan Chinn recommended method of physical therapy. I am improving by appointment and with his prescribed at home exercise for me to do, I feel less to no pain! I praise God for this and Thank Jonathan Chinn for making my recovery possible! I was referred to Medcessity through my orthopedic doctor's office after a surgery to repair a bicep rupture. The team here is top notch and helped me make a full recovery. You work with one of the specialists who is assisted by a number certified therapists. I worked mainly with Manny and Cheryl, both who have extensive knowledge and experience in their field. Check in is always a breeze and I've never waited more than 5 minutes to get started on the therapy. Being in pain sucks! Thankfully physical therapy is an effective, and vital, part of the healing and maintenance process. Medcessity is unique in its name and offerings. They seem to specialize in upper extremity (hand) rehabilitation occupational therapy along with PT. Massage therapy delivered by a CMT also seems to be a relative rarity. My time in their PT program was limited by long work hours (logistically it was easier to go at UCI) and some billing irregularities. Twice now the company has sent me inappropriate bills. My time is limited, so fixing other people's mistakes is an incredibly low priority. Massages with Gabby are the BEST! She is so sweet and caring. She listens to my body's complaints and solves the problems with her massage prowess! Whenever my neck or back gets super tight I check in with her and it's all good. The table leaves much to be desired, so thankfully she's a work it out kinda Gyal! read more

I have recurring lower back pain for a little over two years now. My PT Krishma is amazing. She is very professional and compassionate. Thank you for emailing me work out techniques to help reduce muscle spasm, relief back pain etc. I use it daily. These work out technique come with instructions and video as well so that makes it even better to follow through. I have a big shout out for Jeffrey too! Thank you for working on my lower back! The office staff are welcoming, friendly and compassionate. They really do care about their patients wellbeing and want them to get better. Medcessity took me from a wheel chair to walking without a cane in 6 months. My doctors recommended amputation of my lower right leg and told me best case scenario would be using a cane for the rest of my life. They always found ways to push me and motivate me with safety in mind. They always worked on me at the end of appointments to reduce any pain or swelling and work on my joint mobility. They would accept walk-ins when possible, and they were always flexible with my schedule. This place is all about providing quality care! If you have a choice for hand therapy, do not walk, run to Medcessity. I have worked with Manny, Cheryl, and Adrian all 3 are professional and very personable too. Every assistant that works with them have been trained in the same professional and personable manners. My hand surgery was in May of 2018. Oh and I have been here 2 other times. The first time was with Jonathan, and got excellent help for my frozen shoulder. Then I fractured my other shoulder in an MC accident. The Medcessity team got me back to 100% in both cases. Had used this location a few years ago for PT and thought I would give them a return customer...HUGE MISTAKE and total waste of my time. I called and explained my situation and need for therapy. As it is, I already do not feel great and really was not expecting the crap I had to deal with at the front desk. The check in clerk was so confused on how to check in a patient, how to verify coverage and how to do just about everything her job requires. If I give you all the forms, insurance card, id and referral, you should not be having a shitty attitude with me because you can not figure out my coverage or co pays. Why are you asking me? Call the insurance and figure it out. Then had the nerve to get smart with me after claiming they don't deal with auto insurance related matters. WTF?!?!? I grabbed all my items and paperwork left untouched and walked out. Now I have my new PT appt with a more service oriented, organized and reputable provider. read more

I have been suffering with chronic pain for the last two years. After finally getting a CT scan my doctor referred me to physical therapy. My insurance only approved me for the initial consultation. My first visit was last week on a Wednesday. I was told my referral to have weekly visits would be submitted that day. And I was told to call back Wednesday the following week. I called back Thursday Morning and I was told they would check on the status and call me back. Before the day ended I followed up around 3:30pm because I had not heard from them. I was then told to hold on while they check my status. I was put on hold. Then they returned to the phone to tell me my request had not been approved yet and call back in a week. I asked how long does it take because I was told 1 week. They said it does take one week. So I then asked when was my referral submitted? I was told it was submitted 24 hours ago. I was told again to call back in another week Wednesday and they should have an answer. I don't understand why my mobility being effected is not important. I am in extreme pain and I made this very clear when I spoke with the front desk when scheduling my appointment and during my initial consultation appointment. I do not feel they are taking this seriously. Why would it take an entire week to submit a request after I was told it would be submitted that day? I tried to speak with the owners and supervisors and I have not been able to get in contact with them it seems the people at the front desk are blocking. This is very frustrating. read more

This place is a gem! I"m sure nobody really wants to be injured, but those things happen, of course. The place operates like a great team. The front desk ladies are ALWAYS so courteous and kind and patient and helpful. If this wasn't the case, i'm not sure i would have gone back, but the fact that these friendly faces are the first thing you experience, makes it a whole lot better. Then you go to the back space, and there are these awesome therapists who are super eager to help you and on top of it. Cheryl, what can i say? She is the captain back there leading the crew, and they are amazing as well. 2 stars means meh, I've experienced better. Since I have never been to a PT facility before, that rating description is not all that apropos. I chose this facility because (a) it's very close to my house, and (b) they had all these 5 star reviews. I won't go into the front desk only to say they have a good part in my low rating. And call to ask about your bill which comes 2 months later and they will tell you to just pay within 30 days or they will put you into collection. That's really a nasty approach and what more or less prompted me to write a review this many months later. On to the experience: I saw Adrian the first time in, he did the evaluation and started me on his recommendations. I did well and liked him as he was attendant to my routines and was there almost immediately to start me on another. Session done and if that was all I am reviewing, well then 5 stars. Two days later I come in and this time it's Manuel. He right away hands mot off to an assistant to "warm up." Didn't do this first time in and what they had me do hurt me more than it helped. Imagine having a bad shoulder that might be helped by PT and another which is trashed and needs total replacement. Would you put this person (me) on a hand bicycle type machine working both shoulders? While that might 'warm up' the better shoulder, the one for which the treatment was why I was there, this made my really bad shoulder hurt like hell. Adrian knew not to disturb the worse shoulder. But that's not all, after the initial exercises we started on the actual therapy exercises, pretty much the same as Adrian did. Except after completing my repetitions I just stood there doing nothing hoping to get noticed and on to the next. Nope, Manual was more interested in burying his head in his laptop and ignoring everyone. Each time I finished I stood there waiting. In all fairness I did mention to Manual that the time before and this time, I felt better after done. That was until the pain really set in later, the pain that I didn't have with Adrian. So, night and day between the 2 and I hope Adrian moves on and I can find him again. Conclusion: front desk staff is rude, billing person even more so, therapists range from excellent to neglect.
