Less than 24 hours later, the car broke down in a dangerous way. AAA confirmed the repair was unsafe and improperly done, and another certified mechanic verified this. The axle came out and nearly caused a serious accident. When I contacted him, instead of refunding the payment, he admitted in text messages that "the axle came out" but refused to return the money. He also tried to deflect responsibility by making inappropriate comments about race and insisted on "fixing" it again -- despite my clear statements that I no longer trusted him after such unsafe work. I have full documentation: receipt, CashApp payment, AAA confirmation, mechanic statement, and text messages from his phone. This needs to be on record to prevent him from scamming and endangering others. He is also not listed with the BBB as a registered business -- but I have filed a complaint so there will now be a record. If he scammed you too, REPORT HIM. Businesses that operate this way do not last. Add On: It's not harassment to ask for my money back after a repair failed in less than 24 hours and almost caused an accident. I found him here on Yelp and hired him for a PPI to look at a 2003 Tiburon. A family member is an enthusiast for these old cars which they wanted to make into a "hot hatch". I met Lee at the dealer, which was a long drive to the dealer for both of us. And of course the car was in a back lot 3 or 4 rows deep. So while waiting for the dealer to find the car and bring it to the front, Lee noticed some teenagers who were there to look at a Civic SI. One of them was checking for rust by knocking his knuckles on the car body. Lee smiled at this and went over to chat with them and before you know it, he was reviewing the car with them, explaining how you really check for rust, opened the hood and began digging into how to tell if this Civic was running well or not. He looks underneath the car by getting on the ground and actually looking. I noticed all the other guys, both the dealer guys and the buyers, were hesitant to do this. I think they were intimidated because he obviously knew much more about engines than they did. I was impressed that Lee has the instincts of an educator. He really wants to not just evaluate the car but to teach others how to examine a car. Eventually the Tiburon appears and then Lee quickly went through his process. He focuses on the engine and doesn't move on from that until all issues are covered. In this case, he zeroed in immediately on the coolant system. It wasn't holding pressure. I watched as he carefully tested and retested and showed the dealer technician that the system was bad and that it was leaking. We had already been there for an hour and a half so it was decided that the dealer would pull a hose from another car ( the dealer was close to a salvage yard) and repair it and then Lee would return to test it again. In the end, even the dealer gave up on this car, he didn't complete any repair and we moved on. But I will have Lee examine any car we are considering. He is an excellent mechanic, fair and honest.

They insisted that I take it to who did my oil change?!!! Days go by I'm on my way home from work and boom! Long story short I ended up having to get a new engine because they failed to pay attention to detail. Cost me $3,000.00!!!!! I didn't keep any of my receipts but fortunately Lou does! He was able to make copies of all receipt documentation for the work that he did on my car so that I could show the insurance company. I thought that taking it to the dealership would be my quicker option, but I was wrong. They not only were unable to resolve the problem, they suggested it was struck by lightening and I get insurance involved because it was too complicated. I then had it towed to an automotive electrician who claimed it was fixed after a week, but did nothing but apply a bandage. I was ready to make my peace with a 6 year low mile vehicle and scrap it and went to tell John how the story was about to end, but to my surprise he nonchalantly said "bring it over." I was and am grateful that he and his team were willing to take on a complicated project that I thought for sure would lead to a dead end, but unexpectedly received a call that they figured out the problem and it's now resolved. I am confident that the repair was done correctly and I will not have anymore electrical problems with my vehicle. Repairs were done quickly and reasonably priced. IMHO, most mechanics are overpriced and always want to tack on more services because it's a 'safety concern' but in reality they're just looking to pad the bill.
