This place charged me a bill for a visit from my vehicle, after hearing this place scams ya, too late, and doesn't listen to customers about being conscientious health users, still would not contact me back about how my bill derived. Paid the unethical people not to ruin my credit, but explicitly stated I did not want nothing more than the small copay done whilst sitting in the parking lot, they said nothing would be needed. That was not the case. Will not recommend and will not be back. Charged by a physicians account that I have never met. Shockingly I didn't I fill out paperwork before they just took my healthcard information and then lied and billed me and wouldn't reach out regarding an explanation why. read more

I needed some thing as simple as a drive up Covid test. I made my appointment online and then someone texted me to let me know that a doctor will be calling me later to set up an appointment. The doctor called me later and I was unable to answer due to not being near my phone, and they asked me to call them back. I called them back 4 times and left 3 messages. No one ever contacted me back and still hasn't. I am a nurse and work in healthcare and this is absolutely not how you treat patients. read more

I see Dr. Perry and Dr. Willoughby. One for dermatology and one for normal needs. Both are very kind doctors, that have great bedside manners. Even though I know they are extremely busy, they never make you feel that way when you are in the room with them. If you don't want a long wait time, I suggest not coming in around lunch time even with an appointment. It seems everyone is trying to squeeze a doctors visit in at lunch, and it will create a longer wait time for you. The facility is clean and very nice; however, I had an appointment with Dr. McFaden and waited over an hour before seeing a student. The student performed his routine and the doctor later came in to do the exact same things. His suggestion was to try over-the-counter methods and come back in two weeks. I wasn't going to do that because I had already tried multiple OTC medications, paid my copay, missed work, and waited 65 minutes to see him. He proceeded to go out in the hallway and talk about me. Apparently, they think doors are sound proof and it's acceptable to talk about patients. Also, the appearance of both the doctor and student were unprofessional. Like fraternity guys who rolled out of bed. This normally wouldn't bother me (in fact, I initially joked about it with them), but if you're not going to look presentable, your service better be stellar. read more

It's new. It's clean. Once you actually get to see a doctor everything is pretty standard and what you'd expect. That said, I've never had an experience last less than three hours and that is with an existing appointment. I always show up at least 30min before my appt and have never been seen at my scheduled time and all I ever need is a prescription refill. If you've got half a day to kill waiting for a doctor, this is the place. read more

Went here with a rib injury. The xray tech didn't know how to operate her equipment and ended up taking 10 xrays just to get 2 good shots. After the xrays I was told by the doctor that everything looked fine. The doctor never examined me, or even listened to my breathing. Went to my GP when he opened on Monday, they took two xrays and showed me 2 broken ribs. Facility was clean, but the capabilities of staff and quality of the diagnosis was sub standard. Someone should tell them that xrays should be given sparingly and that you shouldn't just keep taking xrays until you can finally get your technique correct. read more

2 months ago I went to medhelp on my lunch break. I was in and out in no time, which was great (I thought). My symptoms included severe cough, decrease in energy and fever. I was tested for flu and strep, both came back negative. The diagnosis I was given was bronchitis and was given the corresponding medication. I was told if I didn't feel better to come back. I was back 2 days later, even worse. They listened to my chest, gave me some steroids and sent me on my way. I have not improved 2 months later. Went to a different doctor yesterday who performed several tests, and turns out I have had pneumonia for 2 months! I am very disappointed in the care I received at Medhelp and I will never be back. The staff is friendly but I do not feel they gave me the proper treatment. read more

I needed a simple hep-B shot. Called to set up an appointment, which they told me they don't do and to "walk-in" anytime. I went on a weekday at around 9AM, not many people were there. Still waited around 2 hours to get a Hep-B shot, which cost $100 bucks out of pocket. Later I found out other pharmacies like CVS does it for about $40, so for the second one I went to one and was in and out in about 10-15 minutes. My fault for spending the money the first time, but waiting 2 hours for a shot that takes 2 seconds is absurd. read more

My family and I had an awful experience here. First off, the wait times are redic. The doctor didn't even see me the last time, it was a nurse practitioner and she made the problem worse actually. I called the next day and was told, "SO go to the ER if you are having issues". This is the worse healthcare I have ever seen. I would recommend Hoover Urgent Care instead on Hwy 150 instead. If there is a lesser rating than one, I would have assigned it that value. Stay away from this establishment. Birmingham has plenty of other Doc in the box joints to see better doctors. read more

I've never been to a clinic, hospital, or any type of medical establishment as professional, friendly, and caring as these medical workers. Dr. Berry is one of the nicest doctors I've ever had, if not THE nicest. The nurses are very respectful, courteous and all around the epitome of nurturing. There's never been a time that I've come here and not felt like I was of the utmost importance to the staff. I recommend anyone in this area in need of medical attention to seek out MedHelp. I was very pleased with my visit to this clinic. I am a traveller from Canada, and a local friend suggested this place to me. I came in early in the morning, everything went fast and smooth. Very neat, warm welcoming space. Stuff are very professional, and pleasant to deal with. We just had the worst experience with Medhelp on HWY 280. I took my step daughter because she had a stomach virus and had been sick all night. She couldn't keep anything down and was having severe stomach cramps. We decided to take her to urgent care for some anti nausea medicine and maybe a bolus of fluids. We were told by the MD that she could benefit from fluids but that they didn't do that there and she may need to go to the ER. I said "Isn't this an urgent care?" And he said that it was more family practice but that they do walkins for "urgencies". Obviously, dehydration and a bolus of fluids is minimum of what an urgent care should do. When the nurse came in, I asked her why they didn't do IV fluids anymore and she said "We do." I had her bring back the doctor in which he proceeded to tell me that Medhelp does but he doesn't. He also said that he looked at his IV supplies and that had 3 bags of IV saline with dextrose but they were all expired!! Y'all I was so mad! All of this and he never even put a finger on her. He didn't auscultate or palpate or even have her say ah! I am just appaulled at the care that was given today. I'm interested to see what he bills the insurance. He better not actually bill for an examination because there wasn't one. #Medhelp read more

I've been going to Med Help 280 on and off for over a decade. There recently upgraded location is fantastic and the staff is always nice and very helpful. If you're looking for a "doc in a box" This isn't it. Ironically though, you can get in and out pretty quickly. I'm thankful I was able to find out I had definitely broken my wrist the day of the accident. However, the staff who placed a splint on my arm had no experience and told us so. He placed the fiberglass side of the splint against my skin and the nice cotton padded side on the outside. I called the next day to say I was getting it fixed. The receptionist told me that it's obvious to her the comfortable side should be against the skin. When I arrived, the two nurses, one who admitted to having no experience with a splint, were trying to make the exact same mistake. After repeatedly questioning their reasoning, the nurse claiming to have experience finally said the splint would not form correctly if placed with the cotton side on the skin. That makes zero sense and is not true. On top of that I had to show them how the original guy designed the splint because they didn't bother to read my chart. When I insisted that they check my chart, they claimed no notes were made about my splint. There are specific ways a hand should be positioned when healing. They ended up not even forming my splint to my hand in that position. I had to ask to see a doctor after this whole ordeal and bought a splint at Walmart. The whole time they made it out like I was a problem. I know that as a pharmacist, I'd be ashamed if I treated my patients so poorly. In the end I asked my occupational therapist who hand makes splints for people everyday at work. He confirmed my thoughts. This is the worst experience I've ever had in healthcare. They still billed me for splint placement. read more

When you get there they have you fill out lots of paperwork - no problems - but then the doctor does not even look at the paperwork. I had a severe adverse reaction to a medicine and noted this on my paperwork. What does the doctor prescribe - the same drug. When I complained to the office manager, he took the doctor's side, would not let me talk, shouted at me and then escorted me out of the clinic. Do not go here. The doctors are not careful or thorough and the office manager does not care about you as a patient. read more

After speaking to someone (who works there) on the phone last month, she told me that they always charge the highest amount possible to insurance companies. I've been going the MedHelp on 280 for several years, and before that, I went to the Lakeshore location. Both Dr. Mike and Jordan Vaughn are truly caring physicians who really listen. They actually listen. Sometimes I have had to wait a bit, like at the height of flu season, but I just don't want to compromise my health by going somewhere else. On a few occasions, I have had to go back when a particularly nasty bug has gotten to me, but medicine isn't always a one stop shop. And yes, I have recommended them highly to others. read more

Dr. Jordan Vaughn at MedHelp 280 is my Doc. I've had pretty good experiences there. With a scheduled appointment, I've never waited over 15 minutes to be taken back and never more than 10 minutes waiting on my Doc, so in total, I've never waited over 25 minutes. Dr. Vaughn is awesome. Always listens to me and lets me have input. He's very knowledgeable, professional, friendly. A couple of times I had urgent issues and had to walk-in. I never waited more than an hour those times and the Doc who saw me was good. He handled my situations well both times. The only thing I don't like about the practice is to get a prescription refill, you have to leave a voicemail and sometimes they don't call back for a couple of days. However, the trade-off is they will usually call in something new if needed or make adjustments to doses of existing meds. Without having to come in. So, in summary, I am very satisfied with Dr. Vaughn and MedHelp 280 and have recommended them to several friends and family members. read more

I went to med health because I was having side cramps and bladder problems for a little over a week and I was beginning to get worried. I went in and 10 minutes later was sitting in the doctors room explaining my symptoms. They took a urine sample and prescribed me Cipro (1000mg) for 7 days. Now I'm not one to just take antibiotics, I did some research on this one in particular and it has a black box warning. It can cause heart palpitations, tendon swelling, increase in anxiety(panic attacks) and skin rashes(these are only some of the possible side effects)I had a uncomplicated urinary track infection. Uncomplicated. I looked up the dosage for an uncomplicated urinary track infection it's 500mg for 3 days. All I want to know is why someone would prescribe an antibiotic reserved for severe infections such as kidney infections, pneumonia, and anthrax poisoning to someone experiencing a minor urinary track infection. I called the nurse for my lab result because I figured they had forgotten to call me about it and they did. The doctor said I had a small colony of streptococcus down there, which by the way is normal for the most part to have a bit of bacteria floating around. I explained to the nurse I was having adverse side affects such as muscle aches and difficulty breathing on Cipro. She said and I quote "are these causing concern for you?" Yes they very much are. I want to breath and not feel pain and if I'm on a super high dose of a medication I shouldn't even be on then absolutely it is very concerning. Stay away from the Cipro, it can cause some very serious stuff and frankly I think doctors should really think twice before prescribing someone a very broad spectrum antibiotic for no real reason. They were nice but unfortunately I felt as though they did not do a through job and prescribe something that I did not need. read more

The only reason I gave a four star was because of the front desk. I went in with a bad finger cut and needed stitches and because of the slowness of the front desk I had to wait over forty minutes.
