MediaCom as a company has a very poor customer service ethic. I called them to dispute my bill. She said she couldn't do anything. I then went to my local MediaCom office here in Chanhassen. The woman at the desk was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. What a difference. She cleared up my billing issues. However, if I didn't require cable TV for my home, I would've canceled them long ago. Even though Comcast is moving into our area, they won't afford me a lower rate. In addition, due to a billing issue, they won't give me a refund. So I'm out over $100. Can't wait to quit this horrible company! read more

This is quite literally the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to run into. If you can choose a different provider in any capacity - DO IT. We did not have an option in Deephaven, MN - since we moved in during December, we've been averaging 10-20 hours of random down time a week. My wife and I both work from home, and it could not be more unbelievably frustrating (we have bad cell reception at our house, so 3-4 times a week I have to drive to a coffee shop or work from a parking lot because of this). Mediacom should owe all of us tens of thousands of dollars in lost time from all of their outages. It is hard to imagine there's a company that could maintain this level of downtime - that their network is so unreliable feels impossible. I'm on Day 4 of a Mediacom outage that is literally costing me and my business a great deal of money and lost productivity. The problem is that I cannot get anyone inside Mediacom to take accountability to fix the issue. A tech came out 24 hours ago and validated that my in-house wiring and equipment is in good shape. He also validated that Mediacom owns this issue and needs to replace a "tap" at the pole located behind my house; 75 feet from the cable box. Worse yet, there were 4 Mediacom trucks in the neighborhood yesterday running new cable and not one of them fixed the issue or looked at my pole. If I had an alternate provider like Fios or Comcast, I would have cutover in a couple of hours myself. Unfortunately, Mediacom is the only game in town and I have no options. Until then, I am left "sucking eggs" with a bad local ISP and even worse field services and support. Tomorrow (June 18) will be Day 5 of my outage and no response from Mediacom. SCAM I received a notice today stating I had enrolled for 3 mo free Xpert Tech Advisor, after which they would charge $9.99/mo. Called the number and their explanation was hysterical! They insisted I signed up for this and the only benefit for the tech advisor would be if I lost my password! The rep couldn't give any other benefits! OMG, what a scam! Adding that to my account without authorization and then claiming that I wouldn't get help if I lost my password for $120.00 a YEAR?!? I get that they're probably losing a lot of business in our area recently due to MetroNet laying Fibre Optic, but that is no reason to scam your loyal customers! We're now jumping to MetroNet. The last customer service rep I spoke with was very helpful and quite pleasant. Previously, the contact I had with folks on the phone and at the office in Chanhassen: Not so much. Like all the other "major" providers, Mediacom continues to be tone deaf to its customers by refusing to offer ala carte cable channel packages. Yikes. This company absolutely blows donkeys. Just jacked the service to 1,000 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. Another $40 a month ... ok, not a fortune but not nothing either. Ran speed test after upgrade: 29 ping to a server 20 miles away, 40.81 download, 38.98 upload. We're paying for nearly TWENTY FIVE TIMES the speed we're actually getting. Horrific! Every time I attempt to eat TV I have to restart the damn box. Maybe if they updated this 2010 TiVo crud it would work. The only thing worse than their TV service is their internet service. I don't write alot of these things, but Mediacom has been pretty inspirational over the years. I'm a customer in Savage, MN. The two main problems are: 1. (by a mile) performance/reliability 2. price Latency bursts over 500ms are frequent and common. Disconnects. DNS related problems. Can't even stream HD at times.... Extended outages in the middle of the work day. It has been this way over many iterations of equipment and technician visits over several years... Have went from "Nothing's wrong!" to "We're upgrading the infra in your area" after I've demonstrated the problem to the technicians... yeah right. Years later, same experience. No compensation, nothing. Zip. Nada. My neighbors hate Mediacom too and would drop them in a heartbeat if they could. The price is sky high, and their inferior offering can't stop itself from falling over constantly. But hey, I can get near the advertised download speeds after 10PM... Too bad the monopolistic regulations brewed up over the years keep us all under their thumb. If I end up moving, it will definitely be somewhere outside the "service" area of Mediacom. This is the absolute worst company (and by extension, product) you can imagine in 2023. Trash. read more

Is there any way to give a company negative reviews. I have cancelled my service (it was so bad that it would cut out several times per day--of course no compensation for that). I'm trying to return my equipment. I and several other people went to the local office which was closed for lunch during a time that was different from what was listed on the web site. We all waited the 20 minutes to get in. It seems that the only person who could access our accounts did not return from lunch (I sincerely hope that she is all right). They could not find her and she did not answer her phone. They sent us away and told us to return tomorrow. I was not willing to drive there again without knowing if I could complete my business. There is no published phone number, so I had to call corporate for them to contact the local office. I tried numerous times, and they, too, are unable to get anyone there to answer the phone. They are sending me a shipping label to return my equipment. This will work, but it is not satisfactory to me. I want to return it to a person and get a receipt for the return since I don't trust them. What a crappy way to run a business. read more

Worst telecom company I have ever experienced. After experiencing the internet not working for a couple days we reached out to see what was going on and they told us they accidentally cancelled our service and it would be several days before they could have a technician come to our house and reactivate our account. They have the worst customer service I ever encountered in my 70 years. A tech was doing work on the pole in our alley. He disconnected our service in whatever he was messing with. They told us it was their mistake, however they will not send someone out to fix it for nearly a week! This leaves us without TV, internet, and phone service including 911 service. read more

If I could give this place a negative star I would. If you go with this company for your tv or internet service beware if you ever need customer service. You best be prepared to resolve the issue yourself. I work from home and rely on internet services. This morning I woke to no service. I call and I'm told routine service is being performed and it would be up by 7am. This time comes and goes and no service, so I call again. I'm told everything looks good on their end however I still have no service. So they will schedule a tech to come out. Soonest appointment they have is 4 days later. Well again I work from home so again that won't work so I'm told I would be put on a list and contacted if a service member was in the area and had time. They will text me. I get a text and it states my appointment was changed to Friday which is better but still 3 days out so I call AGAIN. Now I'm told yeah your router is no good. You can drive to our office and pick one up if you'd like. Okay! Bring all cords and box and they will have one waiting for you. After an hour trip I get home, open the box and there are no cords. Now I'm completely pissed. I call AGAIN and I'm told the cords are my responsibility. I can go buy them. Let me say we pay a monthly charge to use their equipment which came with the cords. Primary TiVo box drive crashed. Very simple google search showed what the issue was. They refused to replace the box until a technician came out to service it. They scheduled the appointment 11 days out!! When I called to suspend services, they suggested I wait until the technician could come out to fix the problem. No thanks, I don't think I'll pay for services not received. Unbelievably unempathetic and robotic treatment. They hold a monopoly over my residence and treat it as such. I additionally asked how to receive an upgraded modem/router as my current one faults out 5-10x a day. They said I could bring it to the location in Chanhassen (30min drive) and they would swap it out. However, they aren't guaranteed to have a replacement, and they wouldn't provide me a phone number to reach the office to see if any were available. How on earth can you demand your customers to drive an hour round trip to POSSIBLY replace their faulting equipment?! They simply don't care, and they know they don't need to. read more

Horrible customer service. Stay away if at all possible. Have been Currentlyexperiencing major issues with cable TV for more than a month. Customer service and technicians don't seem to be competent to fix. Service appointment lead time is routinely 1-2 weeks out, leaving you stranded with no service. Technicians come to house, work on issues for 4-5 hours, then throw hands up, say they can't stay any more, and leave. Worst communications company or company period I have ever dealt with. Wish Xfinity was an option where I live and I would switch in a heartbeat! 2 months later update: Still stuck with Mediacon. It gets even worse. Called customer service today to upgrade my internet service from 100 Mbps to 200 Mbps and it BROKE my internet. Tech support has no idea what happened and said they'd have to send a technician to the house. Get this - the soonest a technician can come to the house is in 2 weeks! Awful! I had an appointment between 8-12 and they never showed up. I called several times and eventually gave up. The installer finally called at 6pm and asked if he could come install my TiVo. I rescheduled for the next day. The guy showed up on time, then after 4 hours of trying to hook up two boxes told me I had to call customer service because he couldn't get them to work. A week later another installer came and told me he couldn't get it to work either and that I needed to order another box. The new box came and I called for an installer to hook it up. The third installer told me to let it sit over night and see if it worked in the morning. Eventually I called tech support myself and got it working. I then had to mail back the original box that didn't work. Today I happily cancelled my service. I was told that I had been charged for three boxes this whole time and needed to return three boxes....even though I had mailed it in a year ago. Mediacom has terrible customer service and legitimately don't care about their customers. read more

In Aug a tree feel and knocked out Cable and in our area and when I called, they were like "oh that sucks, we will be there in 10 days." HA! Crazy, just crazy....so after 3 more calls I was moved to 5 days out, then I called the Sheriff to see if they had any pull as there was down wires in our road/yard...etc and they also told the Sheriff, sorry but 5 days out. Eventually Excel Energy happened to run into a Mediacom person at the gas station in Excelsior and told him about it (Excel received a lot of calls about downed wires) and he quickly came over and fixed and replaced the wire in 10 hours!! SO why such poor service Mediacom??? Now on 10/2 - heavy winds knock down electrical and mediacom. Electricity is fixed within 2 hours...Mediacom give us a date of 10/15 to fix our internet! 13 days!!!! after 4 more calls, we are moved to 10/9, so 7 days, no internet!!! I called again 10/5, still no movement in the date and no sense of urgency or help. I think we need to have more options, we shouldn't (as consumers) be held to use such a TERRIBLE brand as our only option other than Century Link (which don't even get me started on that company). read more

Our business has had Mediacom as our ISP for several years. Their support/service is horrible, as is their internet. Many outages with no solutions. When their techs come on-site they tell me one thing. When I call in for a follow-up on the work to be done - their notes are totally wrong. We have had a cable sitting on top of the yard for 2 months. Not buried, and only 2 weeks ago was it entered to be buried. Where we are located the DSL is horribly slow. So I'm stuck with Mediacom. If I could choose negative rating that is Media Comm! Terrible customer service!! I got the 1 GIG package and we are only getting 10-14 mb for the last 3 weeks. I called in to report and EVERY time they just send out a tech to "check" our connection/lines. We've had 3 techs out who all said it its a Media Comm issue. Media Comm is doing system "upgrades" and doesn't have the capacity to handle the volume. The Techs have switched out our modem, media comm modem mind you, looks at the lines to the post and NOTHING. I call back to see what they are going to do about this issue and what do you know...another Tech is coming out to my house. NO ONE is being held accountable for the lack of service. I am ALSO getting charged for ALL these tech visits that are doing NOTHING??! I live in an area in which Media Comm is the lesser of the internet evils. Worse company EVER!! Office staff/call center is rude, unknowable, just gives excuses and is quick to schedule a tech visit. Management is even worse- manager Cindy I spoke to on 3/22/21, hung up on me. They won't credit you for their crappy service. Even though I am only getting 10 mb plugged up directly to the modem, they want to charge me anyways. Easily the worst ISP I've ever dealt with; they make Comcast look like angels. The connection constantly drops, random charges appear on your bill, it's expensive and sometimes you have to reset the connection through their app because internet speed just slows down for no reason. It's been better lately as far as connection goes, but the random charge I was given was more recent. I called and they said that charge wasn't supposed to be there and they didn't know what it was, so they removed it. Wow. I wonder how many other people get charges that aren't supposed to be there. There are literally no other speedy cable options in my area, so I'm stuck with them. It's either this or slow CenturyLink DSL. Thanks, capitalism. Alert: Don't waste your Time. To make a long story short and 5 different techs coming out. I canceled. No internet, T.v that was working stopped after one tech left, They left the outside cords unplugged, came inside and just walked around saying well I don't know, I don't know. One splitter was broke. That I caught. One room they couldn't figure out how to get it working. I found that the cable cord was cut inside. Told me I needed to hire a electrician. We moved into a new build home in the fall of 2017 and since then we have had a red cable line running from the street to the back of our house, we love on a 4 acre lot, so the cable is hundreds of feet long. It runs across our yard, flower beds and patio. We have received repeated promises that this line will be buried go completely unfulfilled. We have never felt more angry about anything regarding a service for our home. The customer service from MediaCom is TERRIBLE. The look of our home is actually being compromised by this company. Confused. I was attempting to inquire about internet prices as a new customer however I never got a quote. When attempting to find a quote online, the website was broken and had the error message directing me to call in. I called in, only to experience the phone system to have an echo issue where every time I spoke, I heard myself repeat the sentence in the background. I tried to ignore it and speak with the representative, however she informed me she couldn't give me any price quotes or price info on packages without me providing my social security number. I haven't experienced an industry where I need to provide my social security number when just inquiring about product options and price ranges. Our first appointment was cancelled because the confirmation phone number came in from THE COUNTRY OF CAMBODIA so it was ignored. After listening to the voicemail I called back immediately but the appointment was already cancelled. Our address is a townhouse and it was showing up in their system as a single home (they couldn't find us therefore couldn't service our unit). A week of daily phone calls and we finally figured out what the issue was. That lead to reschedule appointment. TWO WEEKS LATER! Our channel package and equipment was not what we requested and the price was much higher than our quote WITH the correct package and equipment. read more

Also, there is no way to contact the local office so you are stuck complaining to a call center that has no influence or ability to contact the local area. Our internet cuts out consistently throughout the day and when we had technicians out all they recommended was to not use the Mediacom modem that we were paying for and buy something ourselves, which is fine but then they shouldn't be charging us monthly to rent something that doesn't work. Every time I call in, customer service acts like I am the only house with problems, which we know is not the case.
