Worst internet provider I've ever had. I work from home and this company is making my job hell. I have to drive to caribou multiple times every week just so I can work. There's major outages almost every week, and they take forever to fix them. Every time we have called with problems, when they come out to 'fix' the internet, they end up making it worse!! It's impossible to overstate how awful this company is - from their knuckle-dragging, foul-mouthed, know-nothing "technicians" to their sour and aggressively unhelpful office staff in Chanhassen, MN, to their "wouldn't say shit if they had a mouthful" call center team. No matter who you ask for help at Mediacom, you are sure to get absolutely nothing in return. Prepaid, Failed to deliver equipment, installer didn't know how to install service, second installer didn't show up, countless call and twice promised a call back that didn't happen, cancelled failed service and received a $870 bill for a month of absolute contempt. Mediacom arbitrarily changed my first appt without contacting me. No excuse, they just did it and told me that the original appt was no longer available. UGH. Because I work I had to reschedule a new time two weeks past the original date. The time frame was between 1-5 pm. It is now 5:45 pm and no tech. I have had to call twice to see where the tech is only to be told he is running late . UGH, UGH! No call, no communication. I hate this company. read more

This after spending 2 months of flaky reception and four defective routers in the past few months. 5th was a charm because I demanded 5G. I am shopping for other solutions. If I could give negative stars, I would. We have been a Mediacom customer for over 20 years due to the monopoly they have in our area. Cable was hit due to construction in our neighborhood but the outage only affected our house. We are on day 10 without service, wife cannot work from the house, daughter cannot do her homework from the house and we have taken 2 days off of work to meet the technicians that are scheduled in 5 hour windows. Over the last 7 days I have been on the phone with their tech support for approximately 9 hours, mostly on hold, to no avail. By the way the music you listen too on hold repeat every 44.36 seconds. I have spoken to 12 different service reps, 4 different supervisors and they refuse to transfer me to a manager. I have never seen such incompetence in my life. How does something this dysfunctional become the behemoth monopoly they are today? I'm all about free enterprise but at this point government regulation needs to be legislated. Have you ever spent 3 hours on the phone with customer service to schedule emergency service, only to get an email 1/2 hour later stating "we are sorry you canceled your appointment". I have given a terrible rating for Mediacom as I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. I was scheduled for installation and 25 minutes before the four hour window was through they called and had to reschedule. During the second rescheduled four hour window they called during the last hour and had to reschedule again. Even their supervisor could do nothing to get the installer out in the next hour. Do Not Use this company ever!! I have heard complaints about Mediacom from friends, relatives all over the country. I am still waiting for my 5th or 6th appointment with a tech to show up and they tell me, at best, he'll show up an hour and a half after the 4 hour window. I had to get Mediacom because they are the only company to service my area. I moved here in April and have had techs come out numerous times, usually a minimum of 2 hours after the 4 hour window and they don't know what they are doing. One guy who kept coming out kept telling me he needed to get in my basement, unmasked and ungloved during Covid and he didn't even know what I need to have done. Once I waited 2 solid days for them to show up and they didn't fix it. The online support just tells me to turn my computer off and turn it back on. They don't know anything else to do, unless it's to turn the modem in for a new one. My internet speed is slower than dial-up and they can't fix it. I've changed modem, had the techs come out and nothing works. The internet goes offline frequently. I am paying for their "high speed internet", which is slower than dial up. There aren't enough hours left in my life to deal with this company. How they can remain in business is a mystery. read more

I have been a Mediacom (or predecessor company Triax) since 1990. Over the years we have added services like the internet, then even tried the phone and a home security system through them a few years ago. For the phone and security system we had to cancel it almost immediately, as the modem they provided did not work well at all on the internet service and we had unreliable connections many times each day. When we backed off the phone and internet and substituted our own modem we immediately received great internet and have not had a disruption due to the modem since then. But now we have a new battle, as our cable rates have gone up 10% and when we call to discuss what we can do to reduce services we get customer reps that don't know what they are doing. Very frustrating, we are looking at what we can do to replace Mediacom with other providers of these services. read more

Unbelievable....I called today to ask them to remove wires that were hanging on my house pulling my siding off, the runaround i got was beyond maddening. First they said my home had never had mediacom service so they were not their wires, wrong, then they wanted to know who told me that the wires were theirs. Finally I informed them they were in code violation with the wires like they were, suddenly I have a tech. coming tomorrow SATURDAY to remove them, since i informed them I was turning them in if it was not addressed immediately. I am happy to say am with another company who will respond quickly if needed and service is reliable. Good luck to all those Mediacom customers, my sympathies. read more

Funny how a company can gouge you a kings ransom and sell you a non stop commercial blitz interrupted by a show or you internet search. You pay the big bucks for programming and internet only to be slammed across the board with massive overdose of advertising they say they have no control over as they sell targeting advertising promo's! This oligopoly cartel of cable companies has the ability to control you and what you want by forcing this down your throat with no, as of yet, better way to get what as a consumer you want! BREAKING DOWN 'Oligopoly' Oligopolies in history include steel manufacturers, oil companies, rail roads, tire manufacturing, grocery store chains, cable companies and wireless carriers. The economic and legal concern is that an oligopoly can block new entrants, slow innovation, and increase prices, which harms consumers. Firms in an oligopoly set prices, whether collectively - in a cartel - or under the leadership of one firm, rather than taking prices from the market. Profit margins are thus higher than they would be in a more competitive market. Wouldn't it be something if there was a competitor to these cartels who control the market like this? Mediacon has always had a business motto in my book that states "we are not happy until your not happy". I need to go see them today about a failed box not even maybe 6 months old. Price is way to high content is a packaged deal with 95% filler I could care less about but must pay for and you never talk to anyone in a real position with the company and are kept at arms length with CSR's. One would think they would survey people to find out what "the customer" wants, but don't because they are laughing all the way to the bank!! Seeing a 1 star rating you would think it a concern to corporate, with little to no competition they could care less and it is reflected in how they deal with their customers. I like all most anyone else you talk to would like a better option and are so fed up with this crap, two minutes of a show 5 minutes of booming commercial but wait for even more money you can buy a DVR and do extra steps and adjustments to make this crap palatable. Really, please City of Chanhassen, MN notice 18 1-star reviews for Mediacom. The main distribution box for our neighborhood is located on my lot. It was hit by a drunk driver and damaged. After eight months and six calls attempting to get it repaired it is still laying in pieces in my yard. Seriously, the drunk driver hit three utility boxes electrical, telephone, and Mediacom. The electric company fixed their box in one day. The telephone company came out and fixed their box. But Medicacom is now at eight months and counting. My 100Mps speed now tests at 10Mps. Have to believe the whole neighborhood (40 houses) has the same issue. Mediacom has generated nearly $20,000 worth of revenue off our neighborhood during that time but can't get a tech out to fix the box. Mediacom has an monopoly going on in our neighborhoo and area, so why should they care? Please allow another high-speed service provider to provide come in and provide competition. Maybe Mediacom would take service more serious then? read more

Unfortunately, we've been subject to the horrible service of Mediacom for a few years now, and today was the worst, which is why we are finally terminating their service. Their technicians, that make the home visits are fine, this is nothing against them. However, their customer service line is the worst, and have been provided the worst scripts to walk through with customers. The automated answering system is yet again, another massive failure. There is no reasonable explanation of how this company continues to be in business, and be allowed to provide cable service to the community. I don't know of a worst cable company, and customer service experience, that we've ever had. There's no reason, this company should be allowed to stay in business with such horrible service. Wish I could give less than one star. MediaCom is a dumpster fire of a business. The customer service is absolute garbage. When I spoke with a representative to resolve an issue with their terrible wifi, she offered us an upgrade which would end up costing less. When we had the new service installed, the upgrade was not there and we lost some of the channels we had prior to the "upgrade". When I called to fix the issue, the representative refused to honor their original offer. I asked to speak to a manager and was refused this opportunity. Instead, I was told a manager would call me back within 24 hours after he had a chance to review my original conversation (the one in which I was offered an upgrade). That was a week ago and these clowns still haven't called . I will be canceling this trash. Do not give them your business. Plenty of better options out there. read more
