I contacted Steve to see if he would come to the North County to mount a couple of TVs because his ratings and pricing were better than any I could find in my area. Even though he did add an extra charge for coming up to Carlsbad, his prices were still far better than I found anywhere and I got at least 3 other quotes. Alright, you're here reading this review because you want to get your TV mounted and you want to creep on some of the local vendors to determine who to go with because due to some anomaly they all more or less have 5-star ratings right? I've been where you are, and I can tell you straight off the bat that you should just call Steve - his pricing is WAY more cost effective than his competition and he can troubleshoot a wider range of obstacles than they can. Allow me to explain: If you examine the various service packages and price points of those other vendors, you will find that with the exception of MediaVerge, all of those other vendors start their game at the $200-ish mark (if not about $250). And that floor pricing is for a installation setup that most of us can already manage for free by our own means, such as hooking up a device to the TV with HDMI and etc. But for a mount and proper wire concealment their pricing rises pretty dramatically. By contrast, Steve's initial quote for my installation was half of that amount for the same job. The homes out here in Mission Hills are full of random structural surprises and this instance with no different. I almost attempted the install myself but thankfully I called Steve instead. Apparently the wall I intended to mount my TV on did not have a traditional stud setup, and was convoluted with water/gas piping I didn't even know existed. I've used other vendors in the past and whenever something like this comes up they're pretty quick to tell you that the job can't be done and either encourage you to find somebody else, or to change your initial course of action. Luckily Steve is certified to engage in some of the electrical dirty work (and more) that those other guys would typically walk away from or charge even more for. Steve meticulously spent his initial time here identifying literally every structure within our wall before he had even driven a single thing through the drywall. He proceeded to carefully outline every potential scenario, and relentlessly sought to deliver exactly what I wanted, and then he simply did what he does best. I'm aware that I'm kinda making it sound like his work mentality is akin to an assassin for the Vatican or something, but in actuality he's super easy to chat with and he's pretty hilarious to boot. Add that in with the face value of his technical know-how and seriously what else could you ever want from a stranger coming into your home to install a magic-picture-square onto your wall? So in closing it's now maybe a week or so since my appointment and my TV is exactly where I wanted it and arguably better even, due to the minute adjustments pertaining to height and such per his recommendations. And it was SO much cheaper than I was expecting. I'm quite a fan of feeling like I got more than my money's worth and if you want to feel the same way too about your TV mount you need to hit up my man Steve. read more
