Inefficient but wasted no time running my card. I made an appointment to receive a COVID test. What's the point of an appointment? I arrived 15 minutes early as requested and after waiting over an HOUR, still had not received a phone call to get in yet ANOTHER line to wait for the test. Don't waste your time. They were ill prepared for the number of people, inefficient check in process and for goodness sakes, how long does it take to swab someone's nose? Never again. read more

Doctors are great. Staff is friendly, but previous comments about front staff gossiping, etc are accurate. I love the accessibility of x-rays, labs, and many other services at the same location. When I am sick, I love being able to walk in. The main reason that the review is a 3 and not a 4 or 5 is because of the wait times. As a walk in, I understand a long wait. However, if you schedule an appointment, it is common to wait over an hour to see a doctor. They need to get the scheduling figured out, but I suffer through the terrible waits because I love the all in one convenience and the doctors. I accidentally thought my appointment was the day before, and no one at the check in cared to tell me. I waited for a whole hour, until i got a call saying they were in the process of checking me in. However to come back the next day for my appointment. I told the employee i have been waiting for an hour, can they squeeze me in? They said no because there is no more space. How is that possible if they were checking me in? Long story short, they said their office term "checking in" means just looking up a persons name. I have known Dr Takhar as a patient for something like 25 years. I would never see another doctor for general care unless at her practice and direction. She has had a direct influence on my good health decisions like quitting smoking and other not so good habits. I send my friends and family there as she ALWAYS does the correct/right thing and explains things so I understand them. In summation, go to Medical Access and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and good care that is so hard to find. My children also go here and love it ! read more

I have been going there for about a year and a half and just because I have not found a better place. The wait time is generally long even with an appointment. When you've finally made into a room to see the doctor, you sit around and wait again for a long time. I've now changed my strategy: when no one shows up after 10 minutes or so, I walk out into the general area and say loudly that I have been waiting for a long time and that I'd like to be seen now. That typically works. The only good thing I have to say about them is that they did a decent and fast job when my teenage son cut his hand at a broken window pane and needed stitches. I'll be travelling overseas this weekend and have been trying since yesterday morning by phone and through their website to get an appointment for a malaria prescription. No luck so far. I wonder for how much longer they will stay in business like that. read more

This place has an atrociously awful billing dept. Sends bills to the wrong insurance provider in a different state then claims that the coverage for a Covid-19 rapid test was not covered. Bill (outsourced from Maine, not local) are sent to client 7 months late. Their billing department cannot be reached on the phone. Calls to them continuously circle back to the incoming automated attendant without ever reaching a human. They send robocalls and texts about billing, again, never by a human. Impossible! I came here before in august and it was perfectly fine, but i went yesterday to get tested again. I got the rapid test which you are suppose to get results within 3 hours. It's now been almost 24. Horrible. Supposed to tell me my results for a fifteen minute test by "end of day". No call. I need to know if I have covid so that I can get back to work, but when you call them you can't even get through to speak to anybody. Not only that but the whole operation was run horribly with people's safety at risk. There was no guidance and people standing on top of each other. The young woman checking people in was walking in between patients very closely wearing a surgical mask which is known to not prevent the spread of covid. Horribly unprofessional and down right dangerous. Even if my results are negative I'm worried I could have contracted covid at this testing facility. Have you wait in a line inside while people who have been tested walk right past you within inches. Could smell the woman's perfume that went before me. Couldn't have been a worse experience. (Edit in response to their response.) I had a RAPID covid test and didn't get my results the same day. So you can stop talking about the PCR immediately. So you admit your phones are "overburdened" let's analyze what that means exactly. That means you can call this doctors office fifteen times during working hours leave several messages, and literally no one answers, no one calls back, and no one updates your patient portal. I was literally forced to drive back 30 minutes to get into contact with these people. Let's talk more about your "stickers" that apparently enforce social distancing... really? You have stickers so it's all ok? The young woman checking people in walked through the line, and new arrivals are unclear as to wear to go so they all walk past the line right up to the woman in the front all within a foot of me. As I stated previously, as you wait to be tested the people who just got tested that are leaving walk past you within inches.... like I said I could smell the woman's perfume that got tested two people before me as she left.. that's how close she was to me... I called the practice to ask to be removed from their email list (I once made an appointment but ended up cancelling, so was never their patient). It was completely impossible trying to be removed, and I ultimately had to call the office at which point their technician hung up on me. Extremely poor patient relations; if they hang up on people on the phone, I can't imagine they treat their patients any better. read more

I've read some of the reviews here and I am sorry they had a bad experience. But my experiences here have been nothing but wonderful. I started coming here when I moved back to Maryland in 2014 and they've been my medical provider ever since. Some wait times may be long.. but seriously what doctors office doesn't have long wait times occasionally. Dr. Takhar has been my PCP for more than 10 years. She is a great diagnostician and has knowledgeably diagnosed and provided me with successful care and treatment more times than I can remember. Most recently she literally saved my life by determining, with just her stethoscope, that my heartbeat had changed dramatically from when she had checked just 3 months earlier. She sent me on a journey of tests and scans that ultimately led to me getting a much needed heart valve replacement surgery. She is the one who found what all the follow up tests totally confirmed and now I have a healthy heart again. I am amazed at how much better I feel and how she so confidently (and firmly :) ) got me on the fast path to getting the repair that truly has saved my life. She has treated me for many lesser things over the years with equal success. That's why I keep going back. She knows what she is doing and I feel totally confident in her care. read more

Do not go to Medical access if you think you have broken a bone and need an X-ray. My 87 year old father fell down the steps on Saturday and was pretty banged up. He went in for X-rays on Sunday. He was told there was no one to read the X-ray onsite and he would have to wait until Sunday evening or Monday. It is now Monday at 3:30 and I just called them. They are now saying he should hear by the end of the week. He may be walking around with broken bones, possibly in his neck and hands. Isn't that considered urgent? Next time we will go to the Emergency Room. read more

I have never seen something like this IN MY LIFE. I arrived 30 minutes early, 7:30, before the opening and there were 100 people in front of me. A kind man was handing out papers with numbers so the process could be more organized. Once it opened, the worker started a free for all and people were running to get to the front of the line. I'm pretty sure I contracted the virus from just being here. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING HERE. There are no rules and hundreds of people. Tests run out quickly so you could be waiting in line for 3 hours and never receive a test. Again, so disorganized and dangerous. If you are coming, remember to fill out a form before hand. I brought some of my family members here for covid testing since they are the ones in the area doing rapid ones and we had been exposed to a covid positive patient. The wait time and the registration wasn't too bad about 1 1/2 hr but understandable. Initially we took my mother in law to a separate urgent care that is using Labcorp to get tested but the results take 4-5 days. The following day we found out my father in law was positive so we rushed to this place to get rapid testing. We all came back "negative" all 4 of us (my MIL, my partner and myself, and aunt that paid $150 out of pocket for uninsured), which I found hard to believe because my MIL had direct contact with her husband but we trusted the results from Medical Access. Fast forward 3 days later we get the results from the lab and my MIL is positive. Which is fine I understand sometimes rapid testing can give false readings. But the thing that upset me most was when I called to inquire about which test they are using the receptionist was not sure about anything, he did not know how accurate or how test works. I asked to be transfer to a nurse, which he did but the voicemail was full and the line disconnected. read more

OMG you are not feeling well and top of it the staff will make sure that you wouldn't feel well even at the time you leave the clinic. Amazing doctors here, but don't make an appointment expecting to get in on time. Usually it is between 30mins to 1 hr after my appointment time to start speaking with a doctor, and that isn't including my arriving 15 mins early for paperwork and checking in. The doctors here are nothing short of fabulous and give excellent care, but you will wait for it. read more

I had a Covid Pre op rapid test that I needed before surgery. I went last Saturday and it was a complete shit show. Basically it's a great place to go to if you want to get covid before surgery. There were prob 45 people shoved down this small hallway waiting for the test. No ventilation what so ever. They don't separate pre op people with people that just want the test done. Nobody was social distancing and I was there for 2 and 1/2 hours. NEVER AGAIN! It was Ridiculous. People coughing everywhere ..... smh read more

I have been waiting over a week for chest X-ray results.Paid 50 bucks for tb skin test told them I had the vaccine so of course it came back positive and they told me I need a chest X-ray so I paid 100 and they told me 48 hrs .Its been almost a week and they said the doctor still has not reviewed.Who works like this? The doctors are outstanding the wait time is understanding, but the lack of customer service is unbearable! Trying to pay a bill or get a return phone call is next to impossible, however, they are real snappy at turning unpaid invoices over to their attorney. After several attempts to contact their business office and leaving multiple messages for them to return my call, I finally worked it out through their collection attorney. How is it that people in the healthcare industry, some of whom have taken an oath to act otherwise, can be rude, insulting, impatient and outright incompetent. Expect big delays if you just want to consult doctor only for reports. So we there last week and front desk staff ( fat white lady ) told us to wait till doctor reviews the report. So I kept checking like every hour when can we see the doctor and we got the response that Doctor will let us know. After more than 3 hours of wait time, I ran out of patience and spoke to supervisor and after 5 minutes we met with Doctor. The biggest issue is front desk staff didn't let the Doctor know that patient is waiting outside. The front desk staff is so unprofessional, they are NOT bothered to check how long the patient is waiting and are busy in chit chat or some other stuff. Very accessible - can get to a top notch doctor within 1/2 hour. The doctors are amazing not just for routine treatment but also as the best primary care doctors That I have ever had. Doctor Thakar was one of the only doctors who spent a good amount of time listening to family history, diet etc - a rather rare occurrence now a days. read more

So my 4 year old daughter has been having an itchy scalp..she has tons of hair. I figured it was just dry scalp since she has sensitive skin and it's getting colder. She is only around other children once a week at sunday school, a group of usually less than 5, and anything else wasn't much of a thought. Sunday, November 9, I decided to take her to Urgent care just to make sure it wasn't lice or something more serious. The doctor examined her head (what seemed to be thoroughly) and told me it was just dandruff. Monday evening I washed her hair and was combing it..I noticed bugs moving! She saw her pediatrician this morning, November 11th, and she confirmed that she DID have lice!!! I'm salty that I paid my $20 copay, waited for about an hour after being situated in an examination room, and received erroneous information. Seriously?? read more

I am truly grateful for the care that Dr. Takhar at Medical Access GPCA (Germantown Primary Care Associates) Germantown MD has given my family. My family has been extremely pleased with our experience at Medical Acess since we started going there from the time of its grand opening. The doctors and the staff are pleasant, courteous, kind, and patient. It is impressive to be always treated with professionalism and care. Whenever I go to see doctor Takhar, all the other employees make me feel that I am in safe hands. With Dr. Takhar's professional guidance, my overall health has improved tremendously. As I got older, I had trouble managing my weight and staying healthy. That changed with Dr. Takhar's help. I've lost about 45 pounds since Dr Takhar started working with me on my overall lifestyle and health last year. It is a lot of hard work and takes determination, but Dr. Takhar spoke to me about my future and my family. This gave me purpose. Amazingly, as the pounds came off, my blood pressure, glucose level, knee issues have all improved. I am super grateful! I also look forward to seeing my physician each time, as I know I'm in good hands. I check in with Dr. Takhar often to make sure I'm on the right track. I appreciate Dr. Takhar and her staff's follow-up and willingness to answer questions also. Many sincere thank you's to all of them! I've been coming here for a couple years with my family. The staff are normally nice and the hours are nice. Here are a few of the things I have experienced since coming here... -I was turned away when I was depressed and was told they won't do anything for me because whatever they can do would be a bandaid. -I have been forgotten about in a room by multiple staff for over an hour. I was specifically told they forgot. -They lost my urine sample. -I brought my son in over the weekend because his regular doctor was closed. The doctor at Medical Access diagnosed him with allergies. We didn't trust that so we called his pediatrician emergency line and she was able to determine he had pneumonia just by us listing his symptoms over the phone. He got a chest X-ray the next day and it was confirmed he had pneumonia. -they called us the day before Christmas and told us we had an outstanding bill, that if we didn't pay now it would go to collections. We told them how we have never received a bill. We found out It's because they never corrected our apt # when we filled out the sheet to confirm our info was up to date. We kept adding our apt # (multiple times) and told them that it was missing. They never corrected it and so we never got bills they were mailing. Even still, our apt # is now on the form but it doesn't print out the second address line on our bill which is the field they have our apt # on. read more

Went yesterday because I was coming down with something that would lead to a pretty bad situation. I had seen my primary care about something else the day before and she said wait two weeks and we will see. Utter BS, my chest was hurting from the violent coughing and I couldn't breath. Anyways they were crowded at medical access. The front desk said at least an hour wait, they were honest which is appreciated. Well it was a little over an hour they didn't lie. I was seen by the PA Terry who I have seen before. Unlike my primary care she was cheery, and took an interest in hearing my issues and immediately gave me the medications needed to clear things up. I had seen her before, same issue so she knew what worked. I must say this place is great and I am seriously considering just dumping my primary care and using them for everything instead. read more

Don't waste your time, they will waste yours! 1. They usually take you back 30 mins after your scheduled appointment time and it usually takes another 30 mins before the doctor sees you. 2. I had a routine paper that needed to be signed by my primary care. I faxed the document and was on the phone with the front desk staff everyday for a week before I was told the doc would not sign it. I was asked to come in in person, which I did, and then the paper was to be signed. I asked to be called when the paper would be signed or to be called if they had additional issues. After another week of calling about the status, I stopped calling and went to another doc. They never called back, they're incompetent and rude. read more

I have utilized this center for the past several years mainly because of the convenient location and the ability to see a doctor as a walk in. I have decided after this years' physical that I will not be going back here for anything. As others have stated the front desk staff is noisy and unprofessional. Gossiping with each other about patients who are calling in loud enough for the waiting room to hear. The doctor i saw for my physical spent more time talking about her work hours and asking me about my commute into Arlington than she did discussing my health. In fact, she told me that she could not address any of my issues during the appointment for the physical because she could only do certain things during that appointment??? So basically a DOCTOR, ignored my medical complaints so that she could squeeze another co-pay out of me by making me return to address them. At the end of her so called examination she said "lets meet one more time to go over the results" and I said "no thank you", i am not paying a co-pay for you to spend less than 5 minutes with me. if there is anything wrong with my tests you can call me. Lo and behold, the following day i get a call from what i believe to be a nurse, who says that i need to make a follow up appointment, i say no, i told the doctor that she could call if something was wrong. So the nurse says "your blood work is abnormal, but i can't tell you in what way, the doctor is out for the afternoon but you can come in tomorrow." So needless to say, i panic and run back to the office to see a doctor on a walk in basis, pay a $30 co-pay, wait for over an hour to be told that my vitamin D was low and my sodium seemed a little high, drink more water, eat less salt. Really! They are far more interested in racking up co-pays than they are about the health and well being of their patients. read more

This is the most unorganized, deficient medical facility I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They rarely answer their phones - they send you into an endless loop of voicemail "push this button" - but no one ever answers, it just cycles you back to the first recording. I have been trying for a week to get ONE SINGLE prescription refilled for my 99 year old deaf mother. I called last week and after 20 calls finally got someone on the phone who took the information and said she would pass the information on to Dr. Takhar. No one ever got back to me so I started calling again. I literally called over 25 times and no one ever answered. So I drove up there this morning only to be told Dr. Takhar is out of the office and has been for a couple of weeks. The woman who took the information last week did not tell me this. The solution they offered was a televisit with the Urgent Care doctor - but as my mom is deaf I'm not sure why they needed a televisit unless it was so they could bill for it. They have 30+ years of my mom's medical records on file. She was seen in November. As it was the only solution offered, they scheduled a televisit for today at 11:50 - AND NO ONE EVER CALLED! I've called another 20 times and no one answers. I guess it's too much trouble to provide adequate care for a 99 year old patient. We're not asking for Percocet or Oxycotin - it's basic blood pressure medication that my mom needs to survive. I realize this is a difficult time. But if they can't handle the volume they need to hire more staff, retrain the ones they have, or send patients to other doctors. I wish there was an option to give a ZERO STAR rating. I've wasted almost 2 full days trying to get a single prescription - one that hasn't changed in 30 years. That facility is horrible. The staff at best are over burdened or, at worst, incompetent. They're so busy testing for Covid 19 their regular patients can't get even basic care. read more

They said they called in my prescription to a local CVS and I show up an hour later at CVS just to be told they were never given a prescription. I had to go back into the facility to request the doctor send them my prescription. Lastly, avoid a front desk employee named Kay. She is RUDE and unhelpful! Also , the number of people I was told were ahead of me , for some reason continues to grow., I haven't even gotten to the back yet where there will be an additional wait . I picked a bad day to come I suppose as they say only one doctor is working day . Should have picked a day that was not my wife's birthday . What a bummer when all u needed was lab work update- when I was seen , the doctor wrote the requests for labs and said come back tomorrow. I said what??? I said that was the very first thing I asked when I walked in nearly 2 yrs ago, so you have the ability to do labs today (basically draw blood) . Awful business. Front desk employs rude, impatient people. They force you to schedule an appointment to get the results of labs/test - even when the results are negative (which they should could just as easily tell you over the phone, but of course they don't get money for doing that courtesy). WORST OF ALL... they have billed me for co-pays that I DO NOT owe and threaten to send bogus bills to a collection agency. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! read more
