I have been going to Medical Access for 20 years. This medical clinic is open 7 days a week, is easily accessed, and provides treatment most of the year round. It offers primary care and some emergency care, with prompt referrals to specialists and to acute hospital care as needed. It conveniently offers the medical equipment to help diagnose medical problems, including in-house laboratory testing and an X-ray machine. Conveniently, Medical Access is located in the same building with formal laboratory testing, a sleep study program, and physical therapy services. I have always found Medical Access's medical staff to be very professional, knowledgeable and comprehensive in their medical care. Over the years, I have been so pleased with the medical care that I have received from Medical Access that I chose Dr. Takhar to be my primary care physician. She is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She is very kind, caring, and easy to talk to, and she listens carefully to my medical complaints and always spends a lot of time with me. She is very intelligent, calm, and confident. She has a wide base of experience, and she performs in-depth evaluations, readily refers me for appropriate tests, and has always treated all of my medical problem areas. Dr. Takhar also offers a more holistic form of medicine during my treatment. In addition to her conventional medical treatment techniques, she also provided nutritional support that would work in conjunction with my medications, further reduce my high blood pressure, and promote stronger bones. With Dr. Takhar's medical care and her caring manner and strong support, I was able to lose 25 pounds and lower my blood pressure, which allows me to lead a more active and healthier life style. She also referred me to a Medtronic monitoring program that provided long term monitoring of my blood pressure between her visits, with registered nursing support and additional education. However, most importantly, Dr. Takhar and her medical staff helped save my life. She helped diagnose my endometrial cancer. Dr. Takhar and her medical staff arranged speedy diagnostic testing and helped refer me to an excellent gynecological surgeon and cancer treatment specialist. Within 2 weeks I had a confirmed diagnosis and underwent surgery. Thanks to prompt diagnosis and action, the cancer was only stage 1A, the earliest stage. She continues to refer me for appropriate routine testing and monitors me for the need of additional medical care. Under her comprehensive care I have remained cancer free for 4 1/2 years. My husband who also has intermittent medical care at Medical Access also has a similar story. In 2009, a chest X-ray for a mild case of pneumonia unexpectedly found that he had a tumor in his pancreas. The physician at Medical Access helped to obtain quick referrals and treatment, leading ultimately to surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital for an islet cell tumor, a rare form of pancreatic cancer that killed Steve Jobs and Aretha Franklin. My husband continues to be cancer free after 10 years. In summary, I feel Dr. Takhar and other physicians at Medical Access provide excellent medical care and testing and prompt medical referrals to some of the best specialists in the area. They work together to help diagnose life threatening medical problems, provide prompt medical treatments, and will help to improve your general health and life style. read more

I was a patient for about 5 years .. We saw the office get renovated and they really did a good job with their facility but the staff stayed the same . TERRIBLE. They are unfriendly , take forever to call you back, and their front desk staff should be trained better. I had some billing issues with them . Which I called about 4 times before getting a call back ... We got statements , then went to our appointments , asked about the balance and the front desk said that no balance just our co pay for the visit which we took care of on every visit. This happened at least 3 times ... Then they sent the account to COLLECTIONS ! This is something from 2015-- keep in mind my entire family has kept going for the following two years and no one mentioned anything . I call two years later Their billing lady because my dads credit score went down because this company sent him collections ! The billing lady says that we should've know because we received statements ...even though we asked their front desk staff multiple times at our visits ... She saw the times that he visited and how he paid his copay each time but the front desk never collected the balance. She agreed that it was they SHOULD HAVE collected at those times.. specially after asking about it 3 times.... Aside from that, their wait time is ridiculous .. If you're 15 minutes late to your appointment there is a late charge but if you get to your appointment on time expect to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes in the room for the doctor to come in . My PCP was Dr Jimenez for all these years and I knew how long I had to wait .. Incredible that his staff doesn't already know this seeing how he's never running on time . On my last appointment I waiting for 45 minutes ! And then I had to leave ... There were 4 other people that had been waiting before me for their appointments so imagine how much longer it would've taken for him to actually see me . I even called an hour prior to let them know I was able to come early and no one even mentioned how late he was running . I've also worked and managed in the medical and dental field for many years and I know how practices should be ran . I know how an office should be managed . The staff needs better training . The staff should've called each patient to inform them they are running late so that the patients are not sitting there wasting their time or missing work because of their lack of attention to the schedule . read more

I have had to take numerous family members and friends kids to Medical access in Germantown over the last few months to get tested. Its become my goto if I'm ever concerned about any possible exposure. With teenagers and there friends coming in and out of our home, having the peace of mind that they are healthy has been really important. The staff at Medical Access is fabulous. Extremely professional and efficient is how I would describe them. In the case of Rapid test, there is a face time call with the doctor so that's been instrumental in alleviating any concerns. In order to go back to school we have also done PCR test and the results have been uploaded to the portal in a timely manner so that the communication can be further provided to the school. All in all, I would highly recommend, Dr. Anju Thakkar, a member of her staff Amit ( who is incharge of registration) and the entire staff. With all the fears and concerns of the virus and keeping the family and our friends healthy, going through the actual testing has been an easy and comfortable experience. Medical Access is a great practice. The doctors there are great. I usually visit Dr Manbir Takhar and she is just wonderful. She takes times to actually listen and cares about the well being of the patients. I have never felt hurried and she is actually concerned. Doesnt unnecessarily gives medications. She always first tries suggestions for lifestyle changes, healthy eating, working out etc. But if she thinks there may be something wrong she actually will have you do tests, labwork to get to the root of the issue. She has empathy and tries to understand the patient and the history and makes notes, does research and takes a holistic approach to the well being of the patient. I cannot recommend anyone more. My annual physicals she usually spends a good amount of time and i do not feel rushed like most other practices. The staff including nurses and receptionist are also really professional and helpful. Dr Takhar is a wonderful doctor, she's dedicated to my health. She gives me time to explain my problems and solves them with her opinion which is very important to my life. I wouldn't trade her in for nothing. Keep doing a great job with good customer service that is very important to me that I get to express my problems. I have been with her for 5 years and I'm in good shape, no pain, cutback on medicines and medications that were harming me but now I feel 100% better. I've lost weight, eat well, my crones disease is under control, my high-blood pressure is controllable, and cholesterol is on point. I have been taken off high-blood pressure, cholesterol pill, and feel like a champ. Join our team. I can not even describe the customer service that Edward, from the call center, gives. He's sooo dedicated to his job, please don't get rid of him. We need more people like him. He is very good and he is a people's person. Job well done Edward! read more

My wife she was feeling much pain on the left side chest and we went to Kaiser and Holy Cross Hospital emergency in Germantown and they didn't find out the right one and we came here to Medical Access and Dr. Takhar she found out why she was feeling pain and she sent us to Shady Grove Hospital emergency for the surgery and she said don't waste time in my office or she will pass away. The emergency department did an ultrasound and they found my wife feels pain by the cause of gallbladder stone and one of stones was big and block to the way to the stomach and they did ERCP and gallbladder removal for future precaution. Now my wife is fine and I wish to thank to Dr Takhar she did the right way but i had questions about Kaiser and the Holy Cross emergency Germantown they didn't find out why she was feeling pain and they did wrong treatment for the last 3 months. read more

Dr. Manbir Takhar should really be everyone's doctor. She is truly committed to her patients' well-being and she will persist in diagnosing any symptoms to get to the bottom of the cause or causes. I spent 3 agonizing months in and out of hospitals, other doctor's offices (specialists), and eventually she was the only one who took the time and great effort to systematically discover that my heart palpitations was due to severe sleep apnea. I know that I am alive today because of her. I could have easily died in my sleep from sleep apnea or collapsed from daily palpitations. If you have any condition that needs attention, genuine care, an intelligent mind, please do yourself a favor and go to her. You will NEVER regret it. So I started out waiting in the lobby. As I was called in, I was taken to a room to get my vitals (weight, height, blood pressure). I was told that I would be transferred to a different room. A good 30 minutes passed by and nothing. Finally someone came, but they were surprised to see me. It turns out the person that was helping me left home. So they take me to the room that I was suppose to be and there I waited again for the doctor. So once I was done I was told to wait again in the lobby. After everything was done I spent about THREE hours for what only took 30 minutes of service. That was my first and last time. The office looks nice but the service needs major improvement. read more

I have been a patiant at Medical Access for over 20 years. Dr. Takar and her staff are kind and helpful. As with any company I have seen the growth and watch changes in both her practice as well as her staff. The consitancey of kindness comes from Dr. Takar. I never feel rushed once I am taken to the back for my visit. Everyone takes the time to answer your questions. Sometimes my scheduled appointment is behind schedule but that is to be expected as the level of care provided takes longer and as noted above they never rush you out. I know Dr. Takar stays current and I am always amazed at her ability to communicate clearly. Finaly her staff is compassionate much like Dr. Takar. read more

Updating this review, more to the story. A long list of confusion and miss understanding. The billing department from Medical Access has reached out and been kind enough to work with us on getting the insurance issue squared away. If you have insurance, it is around 400 dollar charge for military personnel, that is. I cannot speak for other carriers. Walter reed has authorized this location as one of the test facilities for military personnel. It just takes some work to get tri-care to pay for it, apparently. Medical Access has been kind enough to help me with the process and has not turned me away like originally, though. I will update this review once we get it all fixed! read more

I had a scheduled appointment for a physical for the first time with Dr. Takhar. I was very impressed with how thorough she was. She took her time and was sure to ask me questions to get a good feel for my medical status and to determine my treatment plan. The young man that gave me my flu shot and took my blood pressure reading was also friendly yet professional. My previous Dr. retired and I wasn't sure if I would stay with the practice but after today's visit, I'm staying. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts was because the waiting room wait was longer than I prefer. read more

Very incompetent and unfriendly staff at the counter. They were charging me for the wrong paperwork, I asked why I was paying a different amount and this short rude latina on her early twenties said " well that's what you actually have to pay" so I paid and left the building and 2 hours later I get a phone call from their office from the same rude young latino woman saying I was overcharged and that they would refund the difference...no apologies or thank you were ever heard from this rude person. Please don't waste your time and money to go there, experienced the worst customer service with very bad attitude, they aren't friendly at all. They lost my blood test paperwork and without appreciation to my time and fasting for 14 hours, even the primary physician didn't bother to put in my file, just said wait another hour to see another doctor or come back other day. How rude they are to not apologizing and fixed their mistake. Not recommended. read more
