The facility I visited in Denville looked like a closet. There was nothing "medical" about it. The LPN was both unprofessional and rude. They DO use a gun although their misleading website seems to infer otherwise. I wouldn't get my own ears pierced here never mind my child's. There were no sanitation or aftercare products visible. I give it a 4 star rating and not a 5 star for one reason only but to start positive. I loved the service. I called before to say I'll be running late, when they answered I was not able to hear them because something is wrong on their end BUT they texted me and told me to take my time, no rush and she would wait for us. By the time we got there she indroduce herself and greeted my daughter as well. Now, I'm going to get into why I gave it a 4 star. My SO sat on the chair with our daughter to start the process, him and I are both short just keep that in mind. We had to place one foot on the floor to make sure we don't move while the piercing starts but the chair was to high so he had to "tip toe" his foot and the chair was wabbley on its own. My boyfriend and I switch because he couldn't keep the baby still and got nervous (lol) so we switch, I'm shorter than him so imagine me on the seat. Very uncomfortable and even nerve racking because if you move the baby moves and everything goes to he** lol. She showed us how to clean it and what ear rings are available. Another thing! The website says the ear rings do not have nickle in it and when we got there the one we choose which was the pearl in gold had nickle. Only plastic was nickle free (of course). If my daughter had sensitive skin that would've been a problem and I would've had to settle for the plastic ear rings which I did not like them at all (just my taste) and I was not leaving without getting it pierce because we are not from the area at all! It originally cost $125 plus tax? Shot up to $160 or maybe a few dollars over than that and I couldn't believe it for two regular ear piercings, with a regular gun, doing the regular steps lol but I guess it's better than some teenager at Clair's doing it so I didn't mind. She probably had to mark and erase her ear about a 1000 times before I thought it was perfect and she understood 100%! Like I can tell my SO and our daughter god father (who paid for it) was like "ok yea let's just do it" and I was not certain yet so the nurse said "mom, you okay with it? Let me know because we can do it again it's no problem. I definitely understand" and I felt so much better to express the fact that it needed to be changed once more and she laughed and said "I figured. it looked like you had your reservations about it... so a hair up?" After that time it was perfect and she even helped us to record. Where to stand and had better lighting and wasn't annoyed with someone else around her while trying to pierce my fussy baby lol. Also realized how uncomfortable my boyfriend was and spoke to him and made him feel comfortable to switch out with me lol. I had a great experience with Hannah piercing my 4 year olds ears. We came a few days before Thanksgiving and downtown Denville has plenty of parking. They are located in the basement of an office building there. Hannah was sweet and friendly. They use a piercing gun that puts the earring in at the same time. She made sure to take her time marking each ear making sure they lined up. She explained things as she went. I had my daughter choose her earrings . Hannah did each ear separately. She did not rush at all and took her time. We were in and out of there within 15 minutes. Including earrings the cost came to $105 which is definitely more expensive than other places however this place is owned by pediatricians and Hannah is a nurse so I wanted to be safe. Much better than that place at the mall! Better quality piercing studs, too, with thicker posts. These holes won't close as easily as those done with a thin post.
