Dr. Dawson diagnosed me with a sesamoid stress fracture. He took the time to explain why and how it happened, and more importantly, why we needed to treat it before it got worse. Enter cast boot. Luckily, while I was extremely frightened he would tell me to stop running like a maniac, he said I could do some light cardio while recovering. Essentially, no running. Which, I thought was good, as long as the light at the end of the tunnel was a big neon sign that said, "run." In addition to all that jazz, he started me on a bone simulator to speed up the healing process. I read that these things could take months to heal, but I was out of the boot in 4 weeks and was running pain free with a pair of orthotics modified for my sesamoids. He is one of the most thorough and knowledgeable podiatrists I have been to and I absolutely recommend him to all the runners who I know have foot problems.

Within two months my knee was 99% better (that 1% was because of me; I wasn't doing my end of home therapy as I should have been); but am happy to say that I'm 100% better now! The entire staff, from doctor to floor assistants to the receptionist were and are amazing!! I strongly recommend this particular location if you're near by! They verified our commercial Aetna insurance beforehand and confirmed full coverage. After a successful first consultation, they abruptly refused to treat him at his second appointment. They kept demanding Medicare info even though our Aetna plan covers him completely, and then just declined service and told us to go to another office. It feels like they are actively finding excuses to turn away disabled adults. We are reporting them to Aetna's complaint unit and the NYS Office of the Professions. Unprofessional and uncaring.

Asked why there never was a return call and he said he was having issues with the phone. Tried the office again the following day and when I walked in the male receptionist told me did I think I was entitled walking in and since I haven't been there in 2 years what did I expect. Needless to say I walked out after being insulted and reprimanded and found another doctor and I was diagnosed with bronchitis. Dr Buono is a wonderful doctor but it's impossible to get past his rude male receptionist. Needless to say, due to the incredibly insolence of the male receptionist there are 3 less patients for that office. He needs to have a course in patient etiquette and proper and polite discourse.
