We came in to use the bathroom and stayed for a Cortado and a cappuccino. My Cortado was very good. Because my wife was in the bathroom I asked them to wait to make the cappuccino until she had come out, but they ignored my instructions and I didn't feel like pushing the point that I should have. The space itself is oriented towards coffee. There are some cushion seats along the walls and firmer seating on the chairs. I grew up with a Medici Café and pizzeria in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago and I have to wonder if they have any relation to that business or perhaps just licensed the name It certainly is good coffee and if I lived in Austin, I would probably take some whole beans home for my home espresso machine.
I really like this coffee shop. The barista was very friendly. The day I was there, unfortunately, there weren't many pastries available due to an unusually busy day, for which he was very apologetic. That said, his recommendation about the remaining items was nice to have. I also appreciated that I was asked about the milk type I wanted for my hot chocolate. When orders were ready, the baristas sounded cheerful announcing each for pick up. This isn't a cold place with lifeless enthusiasm. My hot chocolate wasn't too sweet and, thankfully, didn't come with a big squirt of whipped cream. My chocolate croissant was lovely, crisp, and flaky. It had a beautiful shine as well. The vibe was very chill. I saw people on laptops, pairs at tables in conversation. The store is also very open. The large counter is set in the middle of the store with seating on the side opposite the register. With the space inside it, it contributes to the open feel. I'm happy to have discovered Medici and look forward to returning when I'm in the neighborhood.
I decided to stop by on a Wednesday afternoon for a little pick me up matcha. I liked that despite it being a small space there was a lot of seating options both inside and outside without it feeling too crowded. I got the matcha and it was delicious! Nothing worth raving about but it got the job done. Can't wait to be back! The location in south Austin is somewhere I frequent so I might have to make this my new go-to coffee spot.
Such a great spot. Was my first time in any of these shops. I had an event near by and wanted a quick pick me up. The staff was super friendly and very kind. The place was very cute inside and the outside was nice as well. Tons of great backdrops for some social content. I had a mocha and it was delicious. They even had a few ciders to pick from. Was amazing will definitely be going back
Medici is overpriced for the coffee. The coffee is fine but nothing special. $7.50 for a small latte? No thanks. I tried the seasonal peach cobbler latte this time which was kinda gross, like artificial tasting but that's probably why you don't see peach lattes around much, so can't fault them for that too much. I've been to medici over the years several times and always a little dissatisfied since there are so many other good coffee shops in Austin.
I swung by Medici with a friend this morning before checking out a film. It's a cute café with a modern vibe, and I imagine it would make a great workspace as well. I ordered a small latte with almond milk and it hit the spot! The quality of the espresso was excellent and I didn't feel like I needed to add flavors/sweeteners to get a delicious drink. It was a little expensive, but worth the price.
Had to pick up funiture nearby and found this Coffee spot was the closest! Parking for retail is located in BLDG#2 parking garage (look for graffiti on the wall) on the right side of Alamo theater. I ordered 3 items and found out the barista forgot 2 of the items of my order: Garlic bagel, and Cinnamon Nut Pastry. (I think She was new, still getting comfortable with taking orders). Either way I also ordered a Dirty Chai Latte and it was tasty, but nothing exciting. I would give them another try just make sure your not in a rush, the pastry and bagels were delicious.
Love the spacing, very clean inside music isn't loud but enough to keep you groovin' on your work day. I finally found my espresso tonic!! Been waiting to find another place in town that can make me fall in love again. Bravo!
What a chill coffee shop in the middle of bustling Lamar square. I did walk right by it. The door is solid metal and appears old. Stopped in and enjoyed a seasonal iced pumpkin latte and cinnamon apple scone. After 3, pastries are half off with your drink. The decor is rustic with comfy strategically scuffed booths. I just sat and chilled with my coffee, no hurry to leave. It reminds me a bit of a college coffee bar. Charming, definitely will return next time I'm here. Which is often since Alamo is here!
I love the coffee here. It's always perfect. I get a large hot latte usually paired with a warmed chocolate croissant. Yummy. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Check it out.

Great coffee shop so unique, kind of getting tired of the white plain uncomfortable coffee shops this place has a good balance of comfy seating with leather booth type seating and areas for studying. The walls are really artsy and designed well with some wood paneling and wall papers that make it a relaxing ambiance. Good overall lay out with the espresso bar centered in full view. They have outside seating as well. They do have kombucha by the bottle three flavors very tasty. Had a cortada which was perfect. Customer service was excellent. Only downfall is this is a busy area, hardly any parking on a Friday night. read more

I may have have found THE spot, you guys. This coffee shop has 3 things every coffee shop need: good coffee, fast Wifi, and great ambience. I was sold. This location just opened and for a Monday evening, it was quite empty. The baristas were friendly and greeted us when we came in. I ordered what I usually get - an Iced Vanilla Latte. The prices are kind of steep, but my coffee was a perfect combination of espresso & milk, so I think it's quite worth. I do wish they have more pastry options though~ Plenty of seats, outlets, and there's even a cute little patio outside! You can park in the parking garage for Alamo Drafthouse. Be expecting me often! read more

This location is great! Came here to get some work done and there is plenty of seating indoor and outside, free wifi, outlets and a huge variety of teas and coffee as well as pastries, sandwiches, and juice. They also sell Wild Gift beans if you are looking for something to brew at home. The aesthetics are pretty on point here; it reminds me of a more sophisticated, less-basic Starbucks- in a good way actually. The baristas are nice and helpful, and there is enough light in the store for good Instagrams as well. There is a couch in one corner that is perfect for socializing or reading the newspaper, and bar seating as well as small tables perfect for your laptop. Honestly just a really pretty shop. The coffee is also good! I ordered a cap and it came with a small piece of pastry which was a sweet start to my morning! Caffe Medici always gives me the sense of Austin coffee shop community so overall it's a great place to get work done and enjoy a cup of coffee. read more

Medici is my very favorite coffee house. My daughter and I are addicted to the Latte with almond milk. The flavor is rich, creamy and sets the bar for a latte. Apparently they have a special almond milk that sets them apart from the other coffee houses. The decor is clean and natural with an artsy feel. Defiantly MY coffee house every time I am in the vicinity. Luckily, I get my hair done with Mandy next door. read more

This place is legit! Their coffee is amazing. I ordered an iced coffee which as simple as it sounds was incredible. Yeah! If I lived in Austin, I'd go here all the time. The place itself is a very stylish coffee shop. Parking is kinda hard at times but atleast the parking garage is free. read more

Usually stop here after a movie at Alamo for double espressos (which are always perfect). Today, we changed it up and came for affogatos! They were very good. You can choose from vanilla ice cream, chocolate, or caramel. They come with a double shot of espresso, too! Perfect. read more

Latte art aside, the milk was warmed perfectly. You can tell because the milk is sweet and creamy and at a drinkable temperature right when served. The staff here is friendly, and the garage nearby helps with the parking situation. Indoor and outdoor seating to suit your preference, and well lit for studying. Only thing is that I wish there were more choices on pastries. Maybe I came at a bad time or they sold out so maybe next time. read more

Fall space Cappuccino, smells amazing first off! And it tastes to match! This quiet Sunday place is very clean and seems to be pretty popular with the locals! We stopped in while waiting to eat at another place with a long wait! Recommend! read more
I was wandering around the Lamar complex killing time before an event and was feeling a little sleepy. Being a nurse, coffee is my life blood, so I stopped by this hip little cafe and ordered up a latte. I love that here, that doesn't mean an overly sweet confection like those chain places. I do love a non-sweet hand pulled latte and this was a good one! There is plenty of seating in the cafe and the decor is very urban industrial, think resto hardware, but lots of little pockets and alcoves for an intimate conversation. Outside, there are plenty of tables, benches and ledges to perch on while you enjoy a baked treat or a sip of tea or a cup of joe. If it wasn't so far from my home base, I'd definitely be back more often. read more

Vanilla latte was delicious and I was worried I would have to eat cafe food for breakfast. Fortunately they offer a wide array of breakfast tacos as well that we're delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was plenty of seating around the bar and walls of the building. They also have a good lineup of draught beer including 3 nitro pours. This is a great place to sit and get some things done on your laptop, or visit with friend, or read with a hot latte after dinner. Casual atmosphere, pleasant people, awesome coffee, great staff. I'll be back! read more

This place is fantastic! Came here to grab coffee and beers -- the latte with nonfat milk is the best I've ever had. Also, I'm not a beer drinker but my sister got the EastCider beer and it was very tasty. Highly recommend this place. Also, the chocolate chip cookies were very chewy and good. read more

Beautiful location and decor. Strolled in after brunch at Vox for much needed caffeine fix. The staff is friendly and the coffee was wonderful. I drink my coffee black and enjoy really tasting the actual coffee and I must say they do an amazing job. I don't get the burnt taste like most national chain coffee shops. read more

This is my favorite coffee place in the Austin area. Their coffee is super smooth and not bitter tasting at all. I've tried their hot latte, cold latte and cortado. I've been to 3 different locations so far and this one has the most seating. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good place to study or catch up with a friend. read more

I went here this morning with two of my daughters and my son-in-law for coffee and breakfast. We arrived at about 10 AM. They were down to their last three breakfast tacos. My daughter told me that they don't make the food there it is brought in from another vendor and they were simply very busy that morning and had sold out. We got the last of the tacos. So we also ordered some muffins and pastries. My taco was beans and pico de gallo. It was good but not as warm as I would like even though they heated up in the toaster oven. My blueberry muffin was dry and not very tasty. The coffee was good coffee. I just drink regular black coffee so I'm not into the exotics. The girls each had a chai latte which they thought was very good. My son-in-law have a cappuccino and he said that was good as well. All in all it was decent but not anything special. And of course being located in the Lemar union complex everything was a little pricey. It was a coffee shop. Not worth any extra time to travel there. read more
