I love Caffe Medici! I usually go to the location on Guadalupe across UT Austin, but I came here with my family for a late afternoon coffee since we were in the neighborhood. You get what you'd expect from Medici: friendly service, a modern-yet-cozy ambiance, and damn good coffee. I just got a normal drip coffee this time I went, and it well-outperforms its competitors even in this department. They really do use high quality coffees and brew with care; the product reflects it. My coffee (which I had black, no cream or sugar) was smooth, fruity, and hardly astringent whatsoever. I'm glad to see that no matter which location you go to, you can experience the same great product! Also, while their store may not have the most seating, they make up for it with a generous amount of outdoor seating. And this is really a nice place to have outdoor seating; there are enough pedestrians and great, "urban" views. read more

This shop is so consistent and reliable. Great every time. Been living in the neighborhood for years and these guys are my go-to coffee shop out of all of the cafes in the area. Came in to order my cup of Joe and the women at the register just had a sour attitude. Not sure why but I felt like she was rolling her eyes. Sad because I tipped knowing the barista was going to make my coffee. She was wearing all brown outfit with a hat. I said thanks and she said yeah or sure. Nice. Medici is one of the few places I know I'll get a decent Latte. I havent found any place in Austin that knows how to make a real Espresso, but as far as latte is considered Medici makes it really well and with almond milk, which for me, is important. read more

The search is over. Medici is my favorite coffee shop in Austin. They have the best latte's and my colleague loves their flat white. If you are really looking for an energy boost, get their Toddy SS. Sometimes I grab a Taco Deli taco - gotta get the creamy green sauce because its bomb. This location is easier to get to and park at than their downtown locations. You can just park behind it in the visitor garage. 10/10. read more

I don't dig the hype here at all. The drinks aren't better than others. And yet they are overpriced. There are so many cafes on S Lamar--- stone house, patika, irie bean, etc. I don't understand why people love Medici so much. read more

I like this location more because it's near the Alamo Drafthouse, which is a great place to wait before the movie starts. Also you can go there after the film is over and hang out. There's also free parking which is a major plus. Medici is a fancy coffeehouse with modern furniture. In the middle of the coffeehouse is where the counter where the espresso machine is located and you can order your drinks. You have to go to the left part of the counter and you pick up your drink at the opposite counter. There are couches you can sit, tall tables, and there's outside patio sitting. Nice place to go hang out or work on your laptop. Free wifi and parking. You can't go wrong with this place. read more

Friendly staff and up there with the best coffee spots in Austin. Nice spot to grab a barista-made coffee and get some work done on my laptop. My only complaint is that the WiFi is not secured. I come here often, and always tether to my phone. In 2017, I would expect most businesses to offer secured networks for their customers. read more

So happy they built one walking distance from me! I was a frequent at the one in Clarksville but now I'm two blocks away. I have been to this store once and the service was great. I had only ever had their hot lattes and it was way too hot for that so I asked for recommendations for something cold and highly caffeinated. They gave me an iced toddy and it was perfect. Not too sweet, not too bland, and you could taste the strength. I finished it before I made it back to my apartment and then drank some of my friends'. First, let me say that I have been to other Medici locations in Austin and had good experiences with pretty quality coffee. My wife and I are avid coffee drinkers, drinking coffee two to three times a day. We just moved into Lamar Union, the apartment building that this coffee shop is in and I was excited about having this place within quick walking distance! You know, wake up and grab a coffee or come home from work and grab one, or hell drink them all day when I work from home a couple times a week. Unfortunately for me, my first and last experience at this location made it so I will not come back. Not only that, but I don't think I will be going to their other locations either. There are a lot of options in Austin and if I have to drive to get to another shop like Irie Bean or Patika on Lamar then I will. I walked into the store before work one day and asked for some black coffee with room. I indicated I wanted one of the central American roasts and the barista said it would take five minutes to make that order happen. I was not upset by this at all, sometimes that happens. So, I changed my order to an Americano with 3 shots and thats when things when wrong. He informed me that they just could not possibly ever do that.. because their machine pours two at once. I had a choice of two or four. I asked if he could.. split the shot.. maybe pour half the second shot in and I would pay for four. But noooo, they do not do that... their policy is two or four. This being early in the morning and me having married a woman that was a barista all the way through college and someone that drinks coffee two to three times a day, told him politely I would find somewhere else to go. So, I left and found a shop that would be willing to do what I asked with my drink that I am paying for. Doesn't seem like a big deal and it isn't really in day to day life. However, with so many other quality places I do not have time to deal with coffee snobs who are unwilling to let me drink what I want if I am not asking for something insane. read more

I tried this spot yesterday. The environment was quiet overall but the cuatomer service was not so great. I ordered a cortado and the barista served it to me practically cold I asked if it could be rewarmed didn't want to bother him to remake it and he said "usually our customers drink it fast that's why I served it that temperature next time specify that you want it hotter".... I'm sorry but I've been in the hospitality industry as a bartender many years and the customer service as just CRAP! if a guest isn't satisfied with their order remake it and that's it no need for the sly comment. any ways that's my input on that read more

I had an americano and it was great! I tried to work on my laptop, but the internet quality was poor. They tried to fix it, but didn't help. Other people were having internet troubles too. Great atmosphere and plenty of comfortable seating everywhere including outside. In the plaza with shake shack, high ball and at least four other restaurants. I love this location so much more than the one on the drag. There isn't as much room but I feel like the atmosphere is cleaner and better for studying (lighting) or catching up with people! They have a very small selection of drinks, plus some pastries and pre-wrapped sandwiches and snacks. It's a good place to study or hang out before a movie at the Alamo. I was looking at the Juice Society options and asked the cashier if the one I was grabbing to purchase was good, I was asking her what her opinion of it was. I was making conversation, she didn't look at me or answer my question. Instead she let me know that the price of the juice I had in my hand was $8 dollars. In addition to her unnecessary comment she was also incredibly rude and had a poor attitude. I have worked in the service industry for 10 years and that behavior has never been acceptable anywhere I have been employed. She was working with another woman who was far more helpful and knowledgeable about customer service than this woman was. read more

The best thing about my visit here was the barrista. He was very nice. Sadly the rest of the experience was very lackluster. They had almost NO bakery products left by the time we got there (about 1pm on a Saturday), almost no table space and very few non-coffee drink selections. They do get a plus for some nice outdoor seating (benches that create a cozy spot). If they could expand their menu and keep better stock of their pastries it could be a much better place. read more

I typically don't enjoy coffee shops that have the whole modern, sterile vibe going on but if you're looking for somewhere that has a great roast and a contemporary feel then this is your joint. Traditional coffee so don't try none of that starsucks bull round here. I only dropped in for a macchiato and a chai real quick but I gotta say the design and the atmosphere. It's so relaxed and has an authentic feel to it. The service was fast and organized. The staff seem to know their stuff. Loving my drink as well. They have fair prices on there drinks but not so much on there beer (yes, they have beer on tap!) They have no warm food but that's whatever.
