D1 tryouts coming up, (Oline) and I injured myself. Not on the field - texting whilst riding a scooter. Dumb. I know. And it's a long way to the ground at 6ft 6 and 280 pounds. Dr. Martha is kind but does not value the time of her patients. They'll bring you to the office take your vitals and leave you waiting for an hour. She allegedly specializes in performance, however her performance in ensuring that her patients are taken care of is poor. I can say confidently that this doctor has let me down. One more shocking aspect, After leaving a negative review on another platform Dr. Martha responded to the review instead of giving me a call to answer my follow-up questions that I told her office I still had. Looks like appearance is more important than patient care. My recommendation is to save yourself the visit and focus on finding the right practitioner read more

I tore my hamstring less than 1 month before a scheduled shoulder injury- It was very painful and I knew I needed to get treatment started ASAP. I knew of Dr Pyron's Sports Medicine practice and was able to make an appointment on line for the very next day. She evaluated me fully and I started Physical Therapy right away with Cassie Chomko in the MIM offices. I like the small, personal PT I get from Cassie and her excellent student PTs and my hamstring improved steadily. I'm now continuing my shoulder PT there because I am so satisfied. read more

I saw Dr. Pyron for the first time recently, and I had a pleasant visit, but the trouble started after my appointment. The doctor ordered blood lab tests for me (standard with a physical) and told me to go to Quest. After the tests came back, the office tried to schedule a new appointment so that the doctor could tell me to take vitamin D tablets because the tests showed that I was lacking vitamin D. I canceled this appointment when I called back and found out that I would have to pay separately for it. In the past, I've always had all my doctors discuss lab results with me over the phone or by email after my appointment. This has always been considered part of the physical, so I was never charged separately for it. Next, I got a bill from my insurance for the lab tests. When I called the insurance, they explained that the doctor did not order the standard tests that are covered by the preventative care guidelines, which is why they are not covering it. Now I'm stuck paying for the blood test that has in the past always been covered by insurance, because this doctor ordered random tests that I didn't know about, want, or need. While Dr. Pyron seemed like a nice enough person during the appointment, the aftermath has been annoying. I will not be seeing her again. read more

The doctor was rushed and incompetent. She told me one leg was longer than the other, which is not true considering I have a torn muscle which she ignored. The billing department billed me incorrectly, then rebilled me and now owes me the difference. I have called 10+ times and even though they admit they owe me the money they will not pay me. I have also discovered they are not part of the BBB. Pretty scammy scheme they got here. read more

I was fortunate enough to find Medicine in Motion and it has been a great experience. I went to Dr. Pyron with some hip pain and started physical therapy with Dr. Joseph Rayner IV, PT, DPT inside the clinic. He was great! He identified the problem and created a personalized plan for me. I was able to strengthen the muscles in my hips and glutes which completely resolved the hip pain and swelling. I highly recommend this place to everyone especially if you are dealing with any sport injuries. read more

I saw Dr. Pyron for a neck injury in earlier this year and from start to finish experience was horrible. The receptionists at the 38th Street location were rude and unprofessional - not only to the extent that during a conversation in working out my final bill, one blatantly exhausted a loud sigh and rolled her eyes at me, but more importantly, I made 3 phone calls in the span of a week in which I was promised a call back the same day and they didn't call me back at all. I paid for 4 PT sessions in cash up front at $220, which essentially got me a $20 discount. The first session with the PT was basic exercises you can find online and when we finished, I asked for a list of the exercises to take with me anyway. She said she would email me them, and she didn't. I gave the PT a second chance and when I asked about it in the next appointment, she said, "Yeah, sorry I forgot." At that point I decided to this office was not for me and ask for a refund of the 2 PT appointments I had yet to take. I asked if Dr. Pyron would do Xrays for me since she didn't offer in the first evaluation. She said in the first evaluation that regardless of the outcome it wouldn't change how she would prescribe to treat me. I was bothered by that, especially when I learned later that Xrays were only $50. And because of this, I asked explicitly if she would do Xrays without charging me for an additional office visit. The receptionist said they asked and she yes. I repeated it several times to make sure he understood what I was asking, but he hesitated and continued to say yes. At the final appointment to get the Xrays done, she again explained quickly and briefly that she didn't see anything that stood out. She referenced the slides and different areas in my neck, but didn't bother to have them in front of us to actually show me what she meant in the Xrays. I made the point to explain to her the treatment I'd received so far, and it was at that point in which she apologized profusely. She explained that she'd started work with another office and that it was spreading her thin. That's fine for her, but as a patient, that's not acceptable. So as I'm leaving and settling up to get my refund, I was told that the credit for my PT sessions could be used to cover the Xray cost. Because I'd paid more for the PT sessions than the XRay cost, I was due a refund. But I was then told that I would be paying for the follow-up evaluation fee for Dr. Pyron that day. This is where I explained that I was assured I would not be charged for this appointment. This is also where the receptionist rolled her eyes, etc, stepped away to talk to Dr. Pyron and came back to say, "Fine. Your refund amount will be $XX." I was ready to leave it at that because I felt while the experience was terrible, they at least worked with me and honored the request for the XRays. A month later, I got an insurance bill for the appointment because she charged me anyways. So, this is why I've taken the time to provide this review. I have played sports for 25 years and have worked with a lot of physical therapists, Airrosti Rehab centers, chiropractors, etc. This by far was the worst experience I've ever had. Ever. read more

Dr. Martha Pyron is excellent as well as her staff. She is a staple in the Austin Triathlon community and always helping others to improve their health. Through her tips .. I've been able to drop over 20 lbs in a healthy way and look forward to returning back to triathlons in 2017. Dr. Pyron is fine and seems knowledgeable, but it's a typical 5 minute doctor visit that did not seem very comprehensive considering she diagnosed me with a concussion. My main issue is that the front desk personnel is either misleading or miscalculating. She told me my follow up visit would be $20, but when I went to pay after my follow up, it was suddenly $100. When I pushed back and questioned why she would tell me $20 last time and then when it's time to pay, suddenly it's 5x the amount, she asked if I needed a payment plan. Money is not the issue, but the lack of decent business practice is. Also, a big black poodle was roaming around the clinic and kept barking/growling at people. Poodles may be hypoallergenic but I'd just never seen a dog in a doctor's office before. read more

Spending a lot of time at a Doctors office is never a good especially for someone who has some anxiety in those situations. I went to see Dr Pyron for a leg/ankle softball related injury in October. Thankfully, it wasn't serious and some PT and a brace got me healed up. Then, I was back again in November for a broken/dislocated finger. I HATE needles....absolutely HATE them. I had to get needled so she could put my finger back in. Thankfully, there is a sweet little black poodle there that comforted me during the needle situation. I love dogs and she really helped with my anxiety during my visits. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Dr. Pyron but I am hoping that I can make it at least a year before I break any other bones (fingers crossed)!!!!!! read more

So to begin...I found this place because of a race I did in Pflugerville and had chest spasms whole on my bike. They were located up north at the time and had helped reduce the problem...which was from a previous surgery that I have had. It still is there but, that's not their fault...it's because of the previous people but, they helped with how to manage. Fast forward...I have had numerous injuries due to my own fault...and every single time...Dr. Pyron has tried and and succeeded in keeping me from surgery. Yeah, PT can be done at home...that's the goal....BUT most people do not keep up the progress. That's why you go. Also the PT I had for my winged scapula could totally be done at home...if I had someone watch. That's why these guys are great. She does not recommend quick fixes..surgery, and tries to find the best way. Also...the beautiful black poodle has nothing but been sweet when I was there. Which 2as a hell of a lot. She was a great split from PT. Highly recommend this place. read more

Dr. Joseph Rayner, at Dr. Pyron's office fundamentally changed my life for the better. That is a straight up true statement. At 57 years old I had come to accept the pain I had every day in my right shoulder and left elbow/forearm. After years of banging up my body I thought the pain was the price I had to pay for an active outdoor life. But in 2019 & early 2020 the pains started noticeably increasing. I had gone to Dr Pyron several years back for rehab on a knee after surgery. When I was done the knee felt better than new. My wife told me I should go and see what they could do about my shoulder and elbow. I had resigned myself to a more limited life. A depressing prospect to say the least. After reminding me for a month or so I went. This was not some quick miracle. Joseph mainly tackled the shoulder first. It took probably 2 months but it got better. Much better. To the point that I forgot it had been an issue. 2 months for what had taken years to damage was a great outcome. During those two months he did work with me on my elbow. This was an injury that literally went back to a car accident in 1986. The pain had stared on a significant level about 4 years ago. I had virtually ZERO hope it could be helped. I was wrong. Unless you have lived with pain you cannot imagine what it is like to have it gone. It also took several weeks which was tremendous as well. I did not realize how much every day of my life was being impacted by this pain. When it was gone, then I understood. Sorry for the length of this statement but I could go one so much more. Thank you Joseph for fixing me. It was not easy and yes sweat was most definitely involved. But it worked and I can never thank Joseph and all of Dr. Pryon's office enough. read more

Dr. Pyron and the staff at medicine in motion are excellent. I had a crossfit injury this summer, and have been very pleased with my progress. The athletic trainers are knowledgable and very helpful. you can tell Amy and Colby truly care about you and your results. I have enjoyed my time here so much they have now started to help me with my whip lash I got in last years car accident. As a member of Austin Blacks rugby I can say Amy Nester's services at our Rugby field are beyond spectacular. She provides excellent pregame wrapping and muscle prep. During matches she is diligent in looking out for the players' welfare when injured. She also follows up with injured players after match. read more

Dr Pyron should stick to helping Triathletes train for races. I would not recommend anyone visit if you truly have injuries. Dr Pryon immediately prescribed me PT with zero results. And why would I see results? The exercises that her PT had me complete were the exact exercises that I do regularly in training- on my own. After wasting my time and money on her PT, I decided to visit a well-known and skilled PT/manual therapist in Austin. When I asked Dr Pyron for the referral, she said "Ok, but he's only going to give you a massage that will feel nice at the moment. I want you to come back and we'll look at getting you an MRI." After three sessions and at-home exercises prescribed by the MT, my pain was relieved and has not returned. The manual therapist said I had no injuries that couldn't be cured through posture and gait improvement and an MRI wasn't necessary. Sounds to me like Dr Pyron jumps to MRI's as the only alternative when her PT doesn't work. Lastly, the office management is a mess. I was informed that I had paid my copay and all my payments were up-to-date. I was sure to ask the office staff of my payments every time after I visited the PT and every time, I was told that I was cleared and no payment was necessary. Next thing I know, I received a $300 bill, weeks later, for PT visits. I tried reaching the staff. First I had no luck then when they were trying to collect, I heard from them weekly. Apparently there is high turnover in her office and the woman who had been informing me that my account was clear was fired. New lady had no idea what to respond, I asked to speak to the Dr personally and never heard anything, except for an email from the office requesting payment. There are plenty of reputable and honest Dr's in Austin. Pyron isn't one of them. read more

It's nice to see doctors and physical therapists who understand weightlifting and can make specific recommendations. I've included an additional exercise in my routine as a result, which has really helped. It was also very convenient to be able to get X-rays and an injection for a tendon issue on the same visit as my exam. read more

Dr. Pyron is not only very competent in her field but is also one of the most compassionate doctors I have met and her office staff reflects that important quality. I have been seeing her for over 2 years now and my husband is also a patient there. We both feel very good about their services and have had much success with our individual injuries. At best this office is incompetent. It took no less than five phone calls every month (by both the pharmacy and myself) just to get a refill on a prescription. Ever visit they would leave out something that I came in and add something that didn't just I had to come back in and pay another co-pay. She wrongly diagnosed me asthma (I had just completed a triathlon) by adding a spirometry test (which she said was part of routine physical) giving me lung problems for the first time in my life. Based on reviews I had read here, I was really excited for this appointment! I thought I was finally going to find out what was going on and what I can do to fix it. Maybe my hopes were set too high but after sitting in the office for an hour I got my 10 minutes (or less) with the doc and tried explaining the problem. I felt like she already had an answer before hearing the symptoms, which I know if you see the same things every day you have an idea of the problem. However, based on her follow up question, which made no since in regards to what I was saying, I felt like she wasn't really understanding me and maybe didn't care to. I kind of felt like she didn't have time to be in the appointment with me. I was told I needed physical therapy ( I then inquired why because that answer was not offered up). I know everyone has their off days so maybe I picked a bad day for an appointment or Maybe my expectations were set to high but after spending over an hour in the office, maybe 10 min with the doc, and less $100 in my pocket I still have no idea whats causing the issue. read more

Hmmmm - well they did see me right after an accident , but failed to send me for MRI when I did in fact have a torn ligament ( discovered by another doctor who sent me for MRI). Staff was nice enough but doc didn't seem to pay very close attention. This place is the best. Dr. Pyron and her staff are an amazing team. I have always been seen within a very reasonable amount of time, and never had surprises in terms of charges. I have been there many times over the years. After every single visit I leave feeling completely cared for, listened to, and confident that we have a clear recovery plan. They are keeping me in motion, which we know is essential to success in all aspects of one's health. I am also very happy when my visit includes seeing a very sweet and gentle four legged staff member, a black standard poodle named Clarabelle. She is very well behaved, and so smart. She is intuitive about my mood, or whatever hurts at the time. She really calms me down if I am anxious about something. It may not be common to see a canine staff member, but that's just another thing that makes this practice what it is...one of a kind and exceptional beyond anything I have ever experienced. read more
