Came from Los Angeles to Seattle for a small weekend vacation with my friend and we love hookah so decided to try a local lounge near downtown. Found Medina Hookah Lounge on Google and it was only a short ride to it. Decor was great vibe was immaculate. The staff was very friendly and the owner was present and packed out bowl and gave us coals throughout the night. We went on a Saturday night and it was great, so great we returned on Sunday and stayed the rest of our night there. We talked to the owner who was very friendly and informative made us feel welcomed. The hookah was amazing and didn't burn, it was maybe better than the bowls I pack for myself. It lasted a good 3 HOURS and more! Overall, very pleasant experience here and would recommend it to the locals and people visiting. If I'm ever in Seattle again I'll definitely be here every night! read more

Clean! (Unlike the nasty hookah place that will not be named on Capital Hill. I went and smoked there and felt like I got AIDS afterwards. I didn't though. The vibe here is cool. Part dance club, part hookah lounge (club-like soundtrack mixed with old school R&B, and super laaaid back). Once you're seated and set up with smoke, you won't notice the hours drifting by. During your first visit, you'll be required to pay a $5 membership fee (due to WA state laws for smoking indoors), but the staff treats everyone like they just paid for VIP status. We were some of the older patrons in the place (mostly 20-somethings), and yet we weren't catered to any less. You can just go ahead and disregard those two negative reviewers from 2011. This place is amazing and by far is the best hookah bar that I have ever been to. And I've been to my fair share - from Minneapolis to Madison to Chicago - this is the best I have found. Too bad it is in Seattle, if it were in Minne I'd be there all the time! Couple of straight facts: This place knows it's hooka. Period. Best quality smoking and chilling experience that you could ask for. The coals don't give you a headache, don't burn quickly, and consequently doesn't burn the shisha. They also tend to the coals for you so you don't have to figure out when to rotate or clear the ash. They have the best shisha that I have encountered as well. A fun menu at a really reasonable price. The house blends are the best! We were treated to two speciality blends by Jordan (a guy that works there) and Nebil (the owner). Nebil even gave us a new bowl for free since we were in town celebrating our engagement! They have ice hoses to cool the smoke, which I haven't experienced in a long time. The music they were playing was great and the guys even offered to put on something if we had a song we wanted to hear. Apparently they will play anything their guests would like to hear - which is really cool. Two things struck me the most though about this hooka bar. 1) How incredibly friendly the staff was and how chill and happy all of the guests were. We felt like old friends on our first visit. 2) The CLEANLINESS of the place! Not a ton of ash on the floor, everything was clean and the bathroom was spotless. They truly pride themselves on keeping the place clean as well as their hookas. You have to go. The Seattle Hookah scene is still up and coming [slowly], but out of all the contenders for top hookah bar, I choose Medina Hookah Lounge. Like many of the hookah bars in Seattle, Medina is located in the SODO area, and its location in particular is on a very inconspicuous corner on Dearborn. Driving by, you'd easily pass its location, except for the series of small, neon, blinking lights at the entrance that capture your attention at night. Being primarily a fan of non-fruit flavored hookah smoke, Medina offers several varieties that taste great. I recommend any one of the flavors that are named after car brands - primarily, the Mercedes and BMW. The guys inside are not shy about offering suggestions, and the guy last night managed to convince me to go the fruit route and try a peach flavored variant. Combined with one of their ice hoses, you soon get lost in a buzz of cold smoke that soothes your soul. The main thing that stands out to me at Medina are the cool ass employees. I have yet to meet anyone who wasn't willing to come by and offer frequent refills, tips on how to draw out more smoke per pull, or to chat it up briefly. Literally every single person who works here is, what I would desribe as, a 'cool cat.' In addition, the lounge itself mainly plays a mix of late 90s - early 2000s R & B, so if you want a bit of nostalgia coupled in with your hookah smoking experience, this is the place to go. So head out to Medina Hookah Lounge, where you will have a good interaction with the people around, enjoy a nice loungin' atmosphere, and blow some fine smoke out your lungs. read more

First of all , little do i know that by WA state law, you would need to be a club member to smoke in public ( not sure if it's entirely true) bummer ! Secondly, the place looks like a underground drug treat place. no clear sign of entrance. poor air circulation. I understand it's a hookah place, we can't help to see smokes but i have been many hookah places. One of the few places that offer ice hose!!! I will not smoke hookah ever again without an ice hose, it's like one of those things that once you've done it, you can't go back to doing it your old ways. I will admit, considering the location and looking at the place from the outside, I was a bit skeptical to walk in at the beginning. I thought it was going to be one of those places that you would go in and never come back because you lost a bet off some game to some mafia and don't have enough cash on you to pay them back on the spot so you get punished. That is NOT the case at all, how silly of me of ever think that. It's the chillest place ever, great taste of music being played, friendly staff that checks up on you, and a wide selection of amazing flavors to choose from. My personal favorite is "Sh*t that gets you f*cked up" and "OMG", both with ice hose of course. Hookah here will actually get me quite lightheaded in a fun way, I don't know if they make it a bit stronger here, or just maybe the fact that I don't drink at all makes my tolerance very very very low. As many hookah bar here in Washington state, there is a 5 dollar annual membership fee. There is also a 3 person limit to each hookah, no big deal, come in groups of 3 or suck it up and pay more for splitting with less people. read more

Super smooth hookahs with coco nara coals and friendly staff! They made two rounds switching out the coals during the 2.5 hours that we were there. The hoses were clean and pulled really well. We got blue mist and mint-- c'est moi bien. mm hmm. Music selection was on point; they have wifi for when the music is too loud and you can't fade yelling at your friends so you just shop for Soludos together on your phones. Just ask for the password and they'll gladly write it down for you. For out-of-towners like me that don't know this- there's a $5 annual membership required to enter any of these hookah lounges in Seattle. Guess this place is a good enough incentive to fly back in the next 362 days. I imagine that I'll be maximizing my fresh air intake in the mountains by day then polluting my lungs at night. Only thing that I disliked about this place is the apparent lack of ventilation as soon as you enter-- you can barely see through the smoke clouds and you reek of hookah smoke after. Blecccch. Let me preface this by saying my husband and I smoke hookah regularly. We came to Seattle for a weekend getaway and before our departure back to Chicago we decided to try one of Seattle's hookah lounges. Pros: 1. Excellent quality hookah. We recommend the 'OMG' flavor. 2. Incredible customer service. The owner came and sat with us. Very warm and friendly 3. They give all their customers a few minutes to try the flavor ordered and if you are not satisfied they will switch it out for another flavor until you are find what you like. Chicago is FULL of hookah lounges- not one allows this-this was a seller. 4. It is a very welcoming culture. We people watched the entire time, everyone seemed friendly and respectful to one another. 5. Music selection was good, not too loud, just right. Cons: This place is not in Chicago. If you have never smoked hookah or if you are a hooka fiend, this place will suit your needs. If you are into more upscale places, this place may not check that box...but I still encourage you go. If I ever find myself in Seattle, I will be sure to return. On a late Friday night, after watching the Seattle skyline from Kerry Park and Hamilton Viewpoint, on a whim we decided to go to Medina Hookah Lounge. One needs to have a membership card to enter this place and the membership card is $5. I loved the ambiance; very hip, comfortable couches and rapid music. We got a couple of hookahs for 4 of us - Double Apple and OMG. Both were good. Service was good too; they replace the coals for you every so often. While I'm new to smoking hookah, I am a big fan of places with amazing customer service and a comfortable atmosphere. I was in town for work and found Medina after searching online for a "close" hookah spot. I came back EVERY night I was in town!! They were really busy so be prepared to wait a couple mins for them to prepare it for you....but, well worth the wait. Yes, Seattle has a law that you need to be a "member" to smoke but again, it's worth it. Once a member you're set for any future visits. Super comfortable seating allows for you to relax and unwind. Elias, the owner/manager, is hands-on and welcoming. He noticed that I was here multiple nights in a row. I even got to try the "ice hose". Definitely a different experience and I LOVED it. Let me start, with what an amazing experience Medina is. The hookah was incredible. These people know how to prepare a proper hookah. For the hookah enthusiast, this will not disappoint. They use all Khali Mamoon hookahs, which are handmade in Egypt, and are the best hookahs you can buy. The coals they use are all natural, creating a great smoke, and a no taste charcoal. The flavors are incredible, never had such a great hookah experience at a hookah bar. They also offer their favorite mixes they recommend, which are great as well. If you are into trying new things they do offer the Mystique ice tip, which I didn't try, but I have used it before and its a pretty cool thing to try if you are in the mood for something new. The staff is great, when we came in, we were greeted immediately, offered some suggestions for the hookah, and the staff was always coming by and asking if we needed anything/replacing coals Now, if you are new to hookah in Washington, the state banned indoor smoking unless its a private club, so Medina has a membership fee of $5 and its for life. We only planned to stop here once while on a road trip, but the fee of $5 each person was still not a problem, we even came back on the way back from Vancouver, for how good this was. Overall, I couldn't recommend this place any more. If you are just traveling or in Seattle, I highly recommend you stop by, you will not be disappointed. Pros: Amazing hookah, great flavors, great smoke, staff is very nice, offer playing cards to pass the time, great music and atmosphere Cons: I don't really see any cons, except maybe the location is a little strange, maybe more signs for the location, since as a prior reviewer said it does look like an underground drug place, but once you go in it could not be any different. Myself and a group of three friends just went to Medina last weekend. It was my first time, and it definitely won't be my last. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they only allow a maximum of three people to a hookah, so since we had four people in our group, we had to buy two for the night. Together, they lasted for a few hours, which was nice, but this is the only hookah bar I know of that has this rule. Other than that, Medina is the place to go. read more

I have been to many different hookah bars around Seattle and Medina is hands down my favorite. Being from the restaurant business there are two things that I look for in any establishment: 1. Quality 2. Service Medina exceeds in both these categories. The hookah is as far as I know the best in Seattle. The hookahs are clean and fresh. The flavors tasty. The smoke they produce is nothing like you can do at home with your own hookah. It is creamy and effortless. As far as service goes I usually never expect a high level of service from Hookah bars. Medina definitely surprised me. The tables are clean. The couches comfortable. Good music is always playing, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Every single staff member I've met there has been nothing but nice to talk to. If you have a problem with the hookah or you don't like the flavor, they replace it. They always deliver fresh coals. I have too many good things to say about the owner Nebil. He always remembers his customers and treated me like an old friend the moment I stepped into Medina. This place is just amazing and the quality of their service and hookah is bar none unbeatable.
