I love to dance, and I know a good DJ when I hear one, but it's been rare in my life when a DJ is so good, I feel like I'm back in my college days, jumping up and down every time a song transition occurs and I find myself blurting out "Omg I love this song!". Well, that was me, from the beginning to the end of my wedding, jumping up and down in my wedding dress, giddy like a little girl. Kevin's experience as a DJ is evident within the first few songs from the way he mixes the music, to the smooth transitions, to the way he assesses the crowd's preferences and creates the most beautiful positive energy! Kevin knew that my fiance' and I have a unique love story. We were each other's first loves back in high school and we lost touch for 17 years until we reconnected. Because of that, our ceremony was romantic, emotional, and elegant and Kevin did such an incredible job of capturing the sentiment that we wanted. We got to select the music that we wanted playing as people were arriving for the ceremony. We selected classical pieces that were really meaningful to us when we dated in high school. I remember getting ready to walk down for the ceremony in my wedding dress and hearing Smaointe' by Enya playing, and I started to cry. It meant so much to me that Kevin let us select that music. I walked down the aisle to Nessun Dorma, from the opera Turandot, the song I dreamt of walking down the aisle to since I was a little girl. And right as we went in for the kiss, I had asked Kevin to fade in the most powerful part of that song before the recessional at the end of the ceremony. It couldn't have been more perfectly timed. He was so on point! We had decided that for the reception we just wanted to have cut loose and have fun! The most impressive thing about Kevin's ability to move the crowd is that our wedding was a 100% alcohol-free event. As a bride, one of the greatest joys of that night was seeing my loved ones so happy and dancing and full of life without being under the influence, and Kevin made that happen! I will never forget that. When we had our first dance, there was some miscommunication about the length of the song, and it was cut short, so afterwards I spoke to Kevin about it, and he apologized and told me we would replay our first dance song again later in the evening and he would play the full song (I picked a very long version). His sincerity meant so much to me. He truly cares about his clients and making sure their special day is what they envisioned. So we got to have a second "first dance" under the stars. Again, that is a moment that I will never forget. We had a technical malfunction with the slide show that evening, and Kevin came to the rescue to make sure that we had excellent sound quality. Kevin is extremely professional, but also brings so much heart and dedication to his craft. From day one, he took the time to hear our entire story and took careful notes during meetings on what we were looking for. Perhaps the most valuable part of Kevin's approach is his exceptional organization and attention to detail! He has a whole online planning format where you can enter everything and all your song selections, etc. as you're in the wedding planning stages. Whenever I needed to touch base with Kevin or I had a question or needed guidance he was always available. When it came to our wedding day, Kevin delivered on the most magical wedding I could've imagined. I highly recommend DJ Kevin J. Rice for any special event! You will not be disappointed. I felt emails weren't responded to right away, but eventually we made it all work. Michelle was great with the photo booth and she also helped me with my bustle on my dress which was awesome when no one else could figure it out! She made sure that her husband John got all of the details for our day. John was a very nice calming voice as our DJ. The only thing I'd recommend for John is speaking with a bit more enthusiasm to get he crowds attention. For our money dance, no one could really hear him, so we weren't super successful with that. He played good music for dancing, and he did a great job making our dance mix for our first dance. Overall they are a very sweet couple and we had a good time with them.

Honestly? Genius. The vibe is fun, welcoming, and mercifully low-pressure. You don't have to be good. You just have to be brave enough to grab a mic (or have a beer first). Before you know it, the whole place is cheering like you rehearsed... you didn't. Great beer, great crowd, and one of the most fun karaoke nights in Paso Robles. Peer has a great eye and seemed to be right where he needed to be to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments just as they happened throughout the day. He was able to get through family photos so quickly after the ceremony and keep everyone in line. He pays attention to little details as well, like making sure everyone took off their sunglasses. He came to the rehearsal the night before to meet everyone and give input on where people should stand and when to pause for photos to get the best shots. We did not pay for a videographer and with all the wonderful photos, we did not need one. He was able to capture the day so perfectly that we will be able to relive our perfect wedding day forever. He was there from getting ready in the morning, to the final dance at the end of the night. There is also the added bonus with Peer of the cost - we received quotes from several photographers so we know that he should absolutely charge more than he does (though we are happy he doesn't, haha!) In the future, we would (and hopefully will) rehire Peer again. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone without hesitation! We ended up with over 1200 incredible photos, and he sent them to us only a week and a half after the wedding. We were still on our honeymoon, looking through our wedding photos. They are just standing there in most of the photos. Also, a ton of the photos are just of people standing around talking. Nothing you would want on a photo frame or printed. Also, the bride wanted photos on the beach. The wedding was on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Peer wanted to take photos under a tree because the lighting would be better. (Is he a professional or not?) Well, the ocean is bleached out white in the photos! After the tree photos he agreed, after the mother insisted, to meet us down the short walkway at the beach after the bride used the restroom. He never showed up. We waited 40 minutes. The mother took photos with her phone and the bride and groom thought they were the best photos of the day. The point of the story: Someone can do with a phone camera what this guy did as "a professional." And probably most importantly, Peer didn't even remove the glare on the groom's glasses in the photos! We are all very disappointed in the photos. Why he received 2 stars: He was on time (at least at the beginning of the day.) He was mostly nice. ( The mother didn't appreciate the GLARE she received from Peer when she suggested the groomsmen line up like the bridesmaids on either side of the couple rather than the guys in a triangle and the girls in a line on either side of them.)
