Where do I start! I was struggling with a recent acne outbreak that was getting the best of me, I had tried all the products friends, family, and social media was suggesting. I can not express how happy I am that I came across a YouTube video for MediSpa Institute for laser tattoo removal for eyeliner. I had semipermanent eyeliner done last year & it was horribly botched and the touch up for my eyebrows done the same day was botched as well. Unfortunately I couldn't see the results until it healed. I thought I was going to have to live with it forever. I was searching everywhere & couldn't find anyone in state that had the corneal shields to protect your eyes during the procedure for the eyeliner removal. Let me tell you, after seeing that video & seeing that it was from a place in Houston I was beyond excited. After finding out that the specialist there had over 15 years of experience I was very pleased. And when you call to book your appointment you will speak with Cindy, she is fantastic & even nicer in person. Back to having your eyelid tattoos lasered, sounds extremely scary?? I can't even begin to tell you how scared I was, literally over almost nothing. I've heard all of the stories of how it hurts worse than the tattoo. It was over in 5 minutes & honestly wasn't really painful. They numb you up before the procedure. I can't even put into words how happy I am with how much the tattoo had faded with only one treatment and it is only about 5 months old which makes it harder to remove than an older, faded tattoo. If you are considering laser tattoo removal I would highly recommend MediSpa Institute! Coming from someone who had such little faith with this eyeliner that says a lot!! They are AWESOME!!!! Love getting my facials here. An hour long facial here costs about $55 which I find very reasonably priced! I got my friends coming here for their facial as well and they love how their face is glowing afterwards. I've come here on several occasions to get my lashes permed. Theres only 1 person who does it but her name escapes me :( shes really nice and super professional. When I started coming it cost $30 and now it costs $35. The process overall takes 30-35mins and doesn't hurt. I have felt discomfort once but when I told the person perming my lashes she did something and it immediately got better. You can smell chemicals doing their thing but don't be alarmed. I love the way my lashes look afterwards they always look super curly and longer. I also love that I can put mascara on right after the process is done! For me, the perm lasts about 5ish weeks but if I sleep on my stomach my lashes get all messed up. This imo is better than extensions as it doesn't damage my lashes as much. read more

I can't believe it's been 5 years since my last review. I still come here every once in a while for extractions with Trinh who is absolutely amazing and the sweetest! The office is really good at accommodating me for last minute appointments. The extractions take about 1.5 hours and Trinh is very gentle and thorough. My face feels so much cleaner after my appointments. I highly recommend getting extractions regularly because Trinh will first cleanse your face, put some steam to unclog all the pores, extract any pimples that are ready and the gunk out then put a mask on. I always fall asleep during my sessions with her which says a lot about how painless (all relative) it is and how gentle Trinh treats you. Dr. Mykel Ngo and Mai are always great to see whenever I get a chance to see them during my appointments. They're always so cheerful, friendly and welcoming and answers any questions I have even if it's for consultation or advice regarding my skin. I also get cortisone shots for the cysts or larger pimples on my face to help reduce the swelling and inflammation which is perfect for any special events you have and you need to get rid of them asap. read more

Let me start by saying that I was super excited to find this place & that they offer laser tattoo removal. I searched and read up on it and saw their youtube video. But I didn't pay too much attention to how old that video was. I think things have changed here since that video which is 11 years old, because the laser service I received basically DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I drove from Dallas to get my first treatment and after driving 4 hours, spending $300- IT BASICALLY did nothing. My tattoo is very old & black ink, and I do understand that it can take multiple treatments. But there has to be at-least 0.000000001% difference after first treatment. I felt betrayed and scammed. I would have gone back for more treatments if I saw even a tiny difference after my first treatment but unfortunately, I feel i was just zapped with empty beam which did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. My eyeliner tattoo looks exactly how it looked before getting zapped & spending $300 at this place. On a first date, this guy pointed out an icepick scar I have on my face and asked me what it was. I think he was trying to go for the game approach (i.e. kinda sort insult someone/throw her off). It was the most disorienting date I've had (one of the first things he said: "Is this a date?"). I'd never paid much attention to it before, but after, I was briefly obsessed with getting rid of this scar, until I realized there isn't much I can do to get rid of that scar. Thus, I got a groupon for a photofacial at Medispa. Note: photofacials are primarily used for hyperpigmentation, but I hadn't realized that yet. Now, when I got this deal, I hadn't realized it was in Chinatown. Like, past the beltway. My mom used to take me to Chinatown as a kid, and though I liked the sugar drink and the bright pink-sauce covered meat I'd get, I don't wish I could relive those days, because she also kept getting me those pork buns and noodles (ew and double ew), and long rides in the Houston sun is not my idea of fun. I've mostly stayed away from Chinatown since. Driving to Medispa had me swearing ("if I'd realized it was so far away..."), especially when I couldn't find the place. It's located in the Hong Kong supermarket strip mall, and there is no sign. Just enter on the right entrance that could also get you to Hong Kong. You'll know you went in the right entrance if there's a bubble tea store by it. Also, Medispa will be right in front of you. Medispa is bright and clean so white (hence the brightness--all that light reflecting off of each other). There were two women at the front desk who helped me. One of them spoke English fluently, and the other one not as much, though we didn't have any major issues in communication. I had to fill out some paperwork, and then Dr. Mykel Ngo came and got me pretty promptly. Dr. Ngo talked to me a bit about what I'd wanted, and let me know about what other treatments I might do to lighten my scar. He was friendly and chatty; so much so, it was like being hit on. He wasn't put out by having to answer so many questions, and he didn't pressure me to decide on anything then. However, I was a wee bit frightened, as he kept talking about making one scar look like the other scar, and that other scar is the deeper one. The photofacial didn't take more than 30 minutes, and it consisted of him zapping at my pigmented spots with a laser. Those spots darkened, and continued to darken for a few days, then fell off. I'm not sure I noticed a difference, but my skin may just be finicky. When I was leaving, the woman at the front desk asked if Mykel had talked to me about skin lightening products (he hadn't), but I wasn't interested. The location isn't particularly relaxing (driving in the Hong Kong parking lot? yeah...), the interior is clean, the person doing the treatment is nice and doesn't sell you on stuff, and the reception does a medium-soft sell, so 3.75 stars. I wish I had went here for laser removal first but instead.. I spent an arm and a leg at this clinic in the med center. Lesson learned. It only took one treatment for my pigmentation of my scar to dramatically diminish in color! I was VERY happy. And the price was very affordable. I had no bad reactions either which I was scared of. I originally came in because I recieved the facials as a gift but the real gift was the confidence I gained as a result of my treatments. My skin was scarred, my pores were enlarged, and the acne just wouldn't seem to go away. I was just unhappy. It would give me anxiety to not have on makeup and that is just depressing. Went back to Medispa for a follow up treatment and am happy to say it was an even better experience! Reception was pleasant and prompt as always and my treatment went smoothly. Medispa actually did a follow up call with me after the first treatment and I informed them of the machine which was replaced. A specialist consulted with me about my skin before treatment and the woman who did the actual treatment was very pleasant, informative, and knowledgeable. She was also very thorough. The process was similar to the previous except my steaming was better because she used cotton to keep the pores moist, attention was paid to my entire face for the extractions, and they used something to scrub out my pores a bit. Felt tingly at first but then it felt REALLY good. Follow up mask was used and then the blue light, and after two treatments and a few days later my skins feels much smoother and cleaner. They have a skin correcting cream is brightening my complexion considerably and I've only been using it for two weeks. *I give this place five starts because the attention to detail and skin care in the procedures is real and not just another "superficial spa treatment". After seen and reading people's experiences with tattoo removal I wasnt feeling real optimistic either with the results or the cost but after looking for a while i found this place and decided to try it. I honestly feel lucky i found this place in my first attempt I currently dont have a car so i took the bus over there. YES, there is a situation with the address online so make sure you call them. Anyway, I ended up in some other place. When i called them to ask where was the exact location and that, of course, i was gonna be late, they pushed back my appointment and came to pick me up! Once there, they made me feel pretty comfortable and explained me about the process. The treatment itself was pretty quick and the price was way less than i was expecting it to be! That was my first treatment but i can already see a difference and feel positive for future treatments. I know that most people in Houston have a car and that they do other procedures, that was just my case but the message between the lines is that they will do their best to help you and that they care. Medispa is a very professionally run facility located in the Hong Kong Mall. I have been to several skin spas in Houston and Medispa is one of the best I have tried. The staff is obviously well-trained and caring. No high pressure here but each patient is treated with respect and prices are reasonable. I have more confidence in the staff here than in my dermatologist when it comes to aesthetics. So far I have tried two different kinds of laser treatments and most recently had dysport injections for my forehead. A few weeks after my treatment, another skin professional in a very upscale River Oaks establishment commented on the good work done by Medispa. I have been very pleased with all of the work I have had done here. I don't live near this facility but the drive is worth it. I first came here in mid April for the treatment of hyperpigmentation due to laser burns from a different dermatologist in Sugar Land. My experience with my previous dermatologist had been traumatizing and I was really skeptical going in, but I was tired of living with the burn marks. I had a consult with Dr. Mykel Ngo. He spent nearly an hour with me going over the background of the problem and then explaining the recommended treatment. He was exceptionally welcoming and informative. They have huge binders of befores and afters of their own patients that he showed me. The results were all impressive, and I felt that I was finally someplace that could help me. I took the leap of faith, and underwent Q-switch laser that same day. This laser is for pigmentation issues, so an added bonus was that it ended up getting rid of any dark marks I had from breakouts as well. The procedure does not take long, about 15 minutes max, and is not painful. Your skin might be slightly pink for an hour or so when you start out, but it goes away fast with no lingering effects. I have fairly sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts, but this procedure never caused any issues. Cost is more reasonable compared to other offices and they give discounts for packages. I have been going in on a weekly basis since April. Fast forward to now, the remnants of the burns are 95% gone with most areas completely resolved. My old dermatologist had previously stated it would take a year or longer to achieve these results. In less than 3 months, Mykel gave me my life back. I felt like I could finally go outside without trying to hide my face. And the most mind-blowing part is that he does things like this on a daily basis. The whole staff is dedicated to providing the best service and outcome. In my time as a patient here, I have witnessed unparalleled integrity, competence, and compassion. I also had the Q-switch done with Mai who is extremely knowledgeable about acne and other skin issues. She gave me great tips on managing breakouts and I'd recommend her to anyone struggling to get their skin under control. I've had facials+extractions with Trinh, who is super sweet and gentle. She really takes her time and the whole process is very relaxing. The 45min procedure included cleansing, microdermabrasion, steaming, extractions, light therapy for acne, and a face mask. I have been going to the Medispa Institute on a monthly basis for over two years for laser therapy. Before I started I did some homework on the variety of laser machines and decided to go with the Medlite C6 Laser... with good ole' Google - found out that Medispa had it. This place is the best! Usually when I go to a dermatologist they do nothing but write a prescription and send you on your way, I am of Latina descent and have had acne vulgaris, whiteheads and blackheads, I also have major scaring on both cheeks. I have tried all over counter, even prescription medications (retin-a-micro) and i always had some side affects as far as dry skin and peeling, it was gross and uncomfortable. My first visit to Medispa dr.mykel explained my options as far as treatment, he suggested we treat the acne first before discussing my options for my acne scars. We went with the ALA treatment and extractions. According to my research it usually takes 3-5 treatments to see results. After only 2 ALA treatments and follow ups with extractions, my acne was gone. I might do one more treatment although the dr says i probably wont need it. Now I know there is no cure for acne but I have been breakout free. The pimples I do get around the time of the month come and go in as little as 24 hours. I no longer get the cystic pimples I used to get. Now that my skin is smooth we have discussed my scars, dr.mykels wife was even so kind as to give me my first acne laser scar treatment on the house. I have since had a total of 2 laser scar treatments but have been told it takes 6-8 treatments to fully see results. I will keep you updated with my progress but i am one happy customer! The aestheticians really know what they are doing and even call you to follow up on your progress. I will say the treatments do cost a pretty penny but trust me it is well worth it!! read more
