We came here again last week and came to realize that though the food is good, the value of it isn't quite up to par. Over the past year, few menu items have changed, and the one thing that they did take out was actually a favorite of ours - the kefalograviera. There were no new items and the ones we did order were good but not outstanding. It was also sad to see that the "side of halloumi" is exactly as it sounds - 3 small pieces of halloumi. Got here on time for 7:30 reservation. No service (like to attention whatsoever)for 30 minutes. Food is really good, but took us asking to get order in.. took time to get apps. Essentially 2 hours to actually get our main courses. No attention to detail. Management oblivious. Main eventually came out 2 hours after we arrived. Management not cognizant off poor service. As great tasting as the food is - the kitchen to waiter staff is disconnected as is the management is not there. Really disappointed - as the food is so good. But that does not make up for the delayed and disappointing service which made for a poor and elongated evening. Again - the food was awesome. Went in last week before leaving for our holiday weekend, the restaurant was very clean and we liked the decor, but the greeter was very short, rude and unwelcoming, she didn't even smile or seem happy we were there, almost like we were an inconvenience. When to Meditarrano for dinner with my daughter and wife during Ann Arbor Restaurant week. The food is always very very yummy and I highly recommend this to everyone to come try! We ordered: Pararas Bravas. This is crispy fingerling potatoes in a honey-garlic aioli sauce. This brava sauce was sooo yummy, it keeps you diving in for more. The fried egg on top only adds the creamy moistening flavor! Highly recommend! Crispy Brussle Sprouts: well how can you go wrong with this! This is comes along with toasted pistachio, and a honey-orange glaze! Orange King Salmon: very soft and moist. I'm this is seasoned in a truffle pea purée, confit heirlooom potato's, and roasted mushrooms. The salmon just keeps you wanting to sink your teeth for more! Paella for Two: Marciscos: this is their seafood paella. I wasn't that happy with it. I thought this was a bit dry. Not moist and creamy at all. I would not order this again. We also ordered a group on the Ann Arbor Week Menu. It was good. I do love this place. They did fall short on the Paella. read more

Had a great time with my coworkers to celebrate a birthday here! We had a reservation for about 20 people, and we were happy to see that they could accommodate such a large party. The restaurant interior is beautiful, and relatively empty for a Saturday night! There is plenty of parking, but the restaurant was a little difficult to locate, especially at night. I believe that the restaurant is a hybrid of Mediterranean and Italian food, but the website does say that the restaurant is inspired by flavors from 14 different countries. The complimentary bread and olive oil were phenomenal! There's quite a few options on the menu for both appetizers and entrees, and I ended up picking the Shellfish Linguine, which was good. Personally, I would have liked a little more flavor, but when I asked for red pepper flakes, I was given crushed black pepper instead... no big issue though. Absolutely loved this place the first few times we went, the food was very good. it became out go to for a nice dinner out. however, the last two times we went this year we were really disappointed with the food and there was a service charge on the bill. when we asked about it, we were told it was to cover the cost of a credit card, even though we were using cash. they changed it but only after we brought it up. I doubt we will be back, at the prices I'm not in inclined to give it another try. read more

This was one of the best meals my wife and I have had in years. No reservation, but it was a Monday so we were able to get in. The charcuterie tray was great. The roasted Brussels sprouts were awesome. The pasta dish that I ordered was very good. My wife's Village Salad was excellent. Upscale takes on a wide variety of middle eastern dishes that'll make you itch for the next round. Superb shellfish linguine and the Rhode Island calamari brought me back to the sweet shores of New England from the smells alone. One of my favorite place in Ann Arbor. My friends and I (group of 5) don't know the tapas portion is unusually big, compared to other places. For tapas, we had Patatas Bravas, Crispy Brussels Sprouts , Mussels, Funghetto. For entrees, linguine. For Paella, Del Mar and Tradicional. They are all amazing from textures to the flavors. It was first time for us to visit, but the service was so bad that we do not plan to revisit. Our waitress was particularly rude. She only showed up one time at our table after the plates were served. Most of time we dined with empty water bottle on table. (And the paella was so salty that it was impossible to eat without water at table) The WORST part was that she cleaned our plates and throw trash into our paella plate before ask whether we were finished (WHICH WE WEREN'T). And we even found trashed shrimp shell in our to-go box! How ridiculous..What else, she never showed up with our requested balsamic vinegar. Located off state street just before the mall, Mediterrano is, as the name would suggest, a fairly fancy Mediterranean restaurant. The first thing you'll notice as you walk in is the decor. There are stone sculptures, and art work hung on every wall. It's quite a lovely place. Your waiter will just take your order, check on you once to ask how the food is, and ask if you want dessert/the bill. You have random servers bring you bread and other food and take away your dishes. A little odd, but whatever. Started with the oktapodi (octopus). They were not doing salmon carpaccio anymore, since they started serving a Scottish Salmon, and it would've been a waste to marinate that. The dish was just okay -- not stoked about the flavor. The small pieces of octopus failed to achieve that perfect tender texture from braising. Oh well. Had the chicken kebab as the entree, and split it with my date. They were kind enough to serve it on two plates already prepared for us, which was nice, as I was expecting to have to dig at an entree plate from either side of the table. The chicken was cooked very nicely; it had a little bit of char for that smokey flavor, but was otherwise tender and juicy. Served with refreshing dill yogurt sauce. My only complaint is that the rice was completely bland, even though it looked like it would've had some sort of spice or seasoning from its color. Overall, it's not a bad place to stop for a classier dinner. And it's a nice break to not have to fight for parking on Main street. read more

The appetizers are good here. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts and the artichoke bruschetta. Both were delicious and are highly recommended. Unfortunately, the appetizers were as far as we got due to very poor service. We made reservations here and we were very promptly seated. However, it took ~15 minutes for anyone to bring us water or talk to us. The waitress who had our section seemed very distracted and was pretty rude/unhappy to be there. When she arrived, she did not tell us her name or walk us through the menu or tell us the specials. She filled our water glasses and seemed annoyed that we did not want to order wine. We ordered our food (she did not write it down). In the meantime, she did not bring us bread and we had to ask another waitress to bring it. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. 35 minutes after we ordered, our appetizers finally came out. Then, 45 minutes (1 hour and 20 minutes after ordering) after receiving our appetizers, our MIA waitress came to our table to inform us that one of the dishes we ordered was sold out. Rather than apologizing, she seemed unconcerned and asked what we wanted instead. We opted to just share the two plates we ordered, which we were assured was coming out...15 minutes later, none of our orders had arrived and the waitress was again MIA. By this time, the other patrons who arrived before us had already received their orders or had left after finishing their meals including appetizers! We spoke with a manager to pay for our appetizers and leave without eating dinner. When we explained what happened, he already knew it had happened and yet no preemptive action was taken... The only saving grace was that we were not charged for our appetizers after we asked to pay for appetizers and leave without finishing our meal. Overall, the food was delicious, but the service made this dining experience pretty disappointing. read more

Everything about this visit to Mediterrano was over the top beginning with the expert service from Elaine, our server, who thoughtfully guided my wife and I through our entire lunch. Mediterrano has been a staple in this community for 21 years serving the freshest Mediterranean/Greek cuisine in the area. As we dunked our warm, crusty bread in olive oil, Elaine revealed that their extra virgin olive oil with very low acidity is made exclusively in the restaurant's owner's hometown of Metamorphosis, Greece. Outstanding... For an appetizer, we chose the Salmon Carpaccio which included herbed goat cheese, Moroccan chermoula and toast points with the thin strips of cured smoked salmon. The interaction of flavors of this combo was absolutely awesome. For entrees, my wife ordered the Grilled Chicken Panini while I jumped for the Pappardelle di Nonna Bolognese. My Pasta ribbons were covered with a slow-cooked combo of veal, pork and beef along with the pinnacle of red sauces from San Marzano tomatoes and red wine. This dish was a clear five-star entree and as good as any "Pasta Bolo" that I've had anywhere on the globe. For dessert, we split a Triple Berry Brownie with a trio of berries and a unique mixture of goat cheese and cream cheese. Creative and absolutely delicious. After not having dined at Mediterrano for several years, I was blown away with the whole experience. Today's visit was as good as it gets. read more

One of my favorite Ann Arbor hidden gems, so don't tell too many people! The upscale decor makes it a great date night spot, or stop by after a casual trip to the nearby mall. Two of my favorite appetizers are the fried calamari (duh!) and the chorizo-stuffed bacon-wrapped dates with romesco sauce. Perfect blend of sweet and savory. For dinner, I got the arugula and pear salad with shrimp. Nice and light, which was much needed after the appetizers we ordered! Everyone else loved their meals and the highlight was the Greek orzo pasta with feta cream sauce and grilled chicken. This has been my foodie haunt for over 20 years. The concept is very unique: they showcase delicacies from over 14 countries along the Mediterranean. Over the years, some dishes have changed, but it remains second to none for gourmet dishes from this broad -spanning region. The decor is dimly lit and comfortable, parking is ample and the staff is very knowledgeable about ingredients and suggestions. Their complimentary bread is outstanding. The bread is crusty, the olive oil is from Metamorposis, Greece. It is unique in that it has a very low acidity, and is served with taramosalata. This is the most unbelievable garlicky hummus- like dip with whipped potatoes. This is worth the trip alone! Favorites include: patatasbravas, spanikopita, bacon wrapped dates, beef keftedes, beet salad, chicken Jerusalem, pappardelle Di Nonna Bolognese, frutti de mare , octopus and sardines. Stopped by for a late dinner while in town on business. Was seated promptly as they were not very busy. Server was informative. Started with the bacon wrapped dates which were a first for me but very good. Salad was nice. The mushroom feta risotto was good. I'm not sure if I would order it again but you need to love feta; there are other things I would try. Only thing that was a miss.. I was drinking tea and asked for a refill and was told they did not have anymore as they were closing things down. When you have a customer who is still enjoying their dinner, you don't poor all the tea out. You save a pitcher or something to not disrupt the dinner by having to switch out your beverage. I stopped in for dinner tonight since this restaurant is close to my hotel and I had a taste for a lamb burger only to find out the lamb burgers are only served during lunch time. I was really tempted to leave but the ambiance of the resturant was so nice & a few other items on the menu caught my eye. After talking to my server regarding some of the menu items I decided on the Scottish Salmon which was really good! I loved all the flavors & the crispy fingerling potatoes. My vegan face really loves the Crispy Brussel Sprouts (the very friendly waiter suggested that I get it without the potatoes, which are whipped with cream), my friends and colleagues from Southern Europe couldn't stop talking about how good their pasta dish was. Having lived in Ann Arbor, since 2006 its hard to believe it has taken me this long to finally dine in Mediterrano. The location of this place is hidden when you are on State st or Eisenhower. As soon as you past the olive garden around the back is where the restaurant is located. I really wanted to try their dinner menu, but my young kids made that too tough this time around so we tried their lunch menu for restaurant week. The decor of this restaurant is very nice, and the host explained to us that this is a family owned business for the past 25 years. This restaurant could easily be on Main st in downtown it has more of that type of feel. I have to stay what, I ordered did not appear on their regular menu so keep that in mind. Complimentary bread and a spread consisting of potato, olive oil, lemon, capers, and caviar is brought to the table. I have never had a spread like this, but it was absolutely fantastic maybe my favorite part of the meal. For starter we tried the red pepper bisque soup, which we both really enjoyed, nice creamy rich flavor, and you get the brandy and pepper flavor on the back end. The entrees were ok, but did not blow us away, we had the chicken souvlaki and the shrimp polenta. I did not see the shrimp polenta on their lunch menu so it may not be something they make a lot. The dish had potential, however, the polenta was overly salted, and the shrimp, which was good quality had a bit of a freezer burn taste. The shishito peppers did not really add to the dish in my opinion. The chicken souvlaki was solid, but did not blow me away, I do have the feeling, if I did not come for restaurant week, I would have ordered something else. I would love to come back and try their happy hour or dinner to taste entrees that are a little more representative of what this restaurant serves. read more

We LOVED the place and may return for small plates tomorrow as we're only in town for 2 days My wife had Capellini Pomodoro, and I had the seafood special which featured a half lobster with shrimp, clams, mussels, with a sauce that was unbelievably tasty. We loved Osli, the manager who visited us several times during the meal, and Tracy the waitress was super as well. Very helpful and she described the food perfectly. Absolutely exquisite food, and great happy hour prices as well. Best meal out we've had in years! We also loved the outdoor seating, which made us feel very comfortable and safe. Our waiter was super friendly and informative and recommended some delicious appetizers and drinks. The person who served our food was very nice too. Very rare to find a restaurant with a great staff all around. Our food and drinks were delicious. I loved the peartini, we shared the baked feta and an olive assortment. They used to have the best mussels, but this time we got a great spread. The pistachio crusted lamb is fantastic and the brick chicken is delicious and crispy. So good!
