Moved to DTLA a little over a year ago and have been going here since. One thing that stands out is the staff. Every single person is kind, professional, friendly as hell. I always feel appreciated when I go there. The points-to-dollars program they have is KILLER. Really comes in handy when they say "Oh you have $20 credit from your points!" Stacks up quick. This review is mostly about the product, but unfortunately my experience with the store's exchange policy also left me disappointed. I purchased a Papa's Herb Blueberry Zlushie 1g cartridge. I used it for only one evening and immediately noticed a very unpleasant alcohol-like taste. It also had almost no effect on me compared with other cartridges I've used. The second night, I decided to give it another try--and the cartridge was already empty. For context, a 1g cartridge normally lasts me about a month, so there is absolutely no way I could have gone through the entire cartridge in one evening. I returned to the store because the employee who originally sold it to me specifically told me to come back if I had any issues and that they would exchange it. When I explained what happened, the employee helping me seemed to assume that I had simply used the entire cartridge. I tried to explain that this was not possible given my normal usage, but I could tell she didn't believe me. She did agree to exchange it, but I was told I could only exchange it for the exact same product. That makes absolutely no sense to me. If I'm returning a product because I believe there is something wrong with it and I'm unhappy with its quality, why would I want the exact same thing again? Since that was my only option, I took the same cartridge, hoping the first one had simply been defective. Unfortunately, the replacement was even worse. I took approximately 10-15 inhales and the entire 1g cartridge was gone. Once again, it had the same strange alcohol-like taste. This is now the third time I've purchased something from MedMen, and each time I've walked away feeling that the product was overpriced and poor quality. After this experience--and an exchange policy that forces a customer to replace a product they're unhappy with with the exact same product--I won't be shopping at this store again. read more

Disappointing customer interaction and inflexible discount policy, still a regular customer This is my regular dispensary and I plan to continue shopping here, but I am leaving this feedback here because I do not feel comfortable giving it in person. I want to separate two issues clearly. First, the student discount policy. There is a posted 20 percent student discount that only applies on Sundays. As a student who uses cannabis medicinally, this structure does not work for me. Being told on a Saturday that I should come back another day for a discount when I am already ready to purchase is not helpful. I am not asking for an exception. I am offering feedback that a discount limited to one specific day does not accommodate medicinal or schedule based needs. That feedback should be acknowledged, not debated. Second, repeated unwanted interaction from one staff member. When I shared that feedback, one staff member who was not involved in my transaction repeatedly interjected, lectured, and attempted to explain why my perspective was wrong. I clearly stated more than once that I did not want to debate it and asked him to stop engaging and allow the employee assisting me to continue the transaction. Despite that, the interruptions continued. Because of the continued side conversation and interruptions, the checkout process became confusing. I had brought edibles to the front and confirmed the price, but I was not told how much additional cash I needed to withdraw from the ATM to complete that part of the purchase. After already paying an ATM fee and with everything going on, I ultimately said never mind and left the edibles behind. This same staff member has also previously failed to acknowledge me when I entered the store and has redirected me in line in a way that felt dismissive. Taken together, these repeated interactions have been frustrating. I want to be clear that other staff members were polite, helpful, and professional, and the store itself is clean and well run. This feedback is specifically about one recurring interaction and the structure of the discount policy. If a customer says they do not want to be lectured or debated, that boundary should be respected. Feedback does not need to be refuted in the moment. It simply needs to be heard. I am posting this here rather than raising it in person because I still plan to shop at MedMen and want this addressed constructively. read more

I liked this dispensary. They have a variety of products and our salesgirl gave us some great recommendations. The "security"? Was also friendly and soft spoken but I didn't like that I had to leave my purse with him- on an open shelf - right next to the door- on Broadway- it was my first time in LA and I could tell it wasn't the best area- lots of homeless and illegal activity. The whole area just feels unsafe (and I'm from NY/NJ) he was also in his phone so he could easily get distracted. Leaving another bad review for another bad experience from MedMen will never be returning and need to reach out to the higher ups as this is not OK your security is threatening physical harm on me over me not following his plan to rob me. So this time I went in and they were insisting on holding my purse with my personal belongings inside at the front. For a order that I already placed online that I was trying to pick up. Keep in mind I am a small female with literally a designer wallet and lots of cash in my personal items that are very much important to me. I am not leaving them at the front door at this ghetto location unattended with a Strangerfor anybody to take. I did not have a big bag whatsoever. It was a small personal purse under 6 inches. was force to wait in front. I've had mixed results in the past (from various dispensaries), and many have closed down (dammit)!! Let me say, in passing that "Traditional" has some good choices (and great deals), along with lots of courtesy (and very respectable prices)...but they didn't have our "standard" edible product, which is the Kiva chocolate (EXCEPTIONALLY tasty, and RELIABLE potency). As a matter of fact, the other brand bar gave me ZERO "buzz," which struck me as very strange!! Now, Madmen: The Security guy near the entrance was kind've gruff and rude, which seemed unnecessary. The clerk, another Black guy was very helpful.. and they DID have the Kiva product (Hooray!!!), though, the price was a little high. Was led to believe would be $20, but this--apparently--was before taxes, so (even with my "senior discount"), the total was $27 (and at the other dispensary, the price (somehow) (and for ALL of their products) stayed down at the cited price. So, I was DELIGHTED to get exactly the product I wanted...but it seems I got "bitten" on the price. Apparently, "Traditional" cites the price AFTER taxes...which puts a much better "taste in my mouth!!" This place was close and convenient to my hotel. I will say the set up is quite different. I am use to Vista, California dispensaries. They don't have a huge flower selection, but the set up is really cute. I love the flow of the store and the hardwood floors. The layout was open. It's not overcrowd. I love the fact you can use debit cards. I am use to cash only! I will say they are priced higher than Vista as well! But all and all it's a great shop! You will have to pay for parking. Lol the manager or owner of this store is a joke. Having a black security guard, come out and talk to a black woman that's parked outside of your facility-- that you and your 3 other white employees are ignoring as well, Imagine pulling up to spend money with a business you've been spending money with for 2 years, and the racist manager and other 3 white employees watch you and refuse to turn around and speak. Never spending my money there again. At lunch on 4/26/23 I came into the DTLA Med Men, not for the first time, and I've been smoking pot longer than the jerk at the front door has been alive, and same for his boss Mike, who was just as rude to me as jerk at the front door. The jerk at the door, a talk Black guy wearing a ski mask (weird) took his time getting to the door. Me being in a hurry is not his concern, but courtesy to customers should be. It's my concern for double parking, but it's DTLA and parking is an issue, something else I won't miss, but I didn't want to get a parking ticket. There was no one at the front door when I walked up and jerk with the ski mask was standing inside looking at me and not moving, and still in a hurry I opened the door and took out my ID and he rudely told me to get back, and he shut the door and I was made to wait outside for some reason that felt like a power trip. When the door cracked open I yelled "Can someone please take my ID!?" because I wasn't digging his attitude. Manager Mike came to the door and immediately scolded me about the store's "rules of decorum" and pointed to a sign on the door, and when I started to explain the situation as I saw it, he kept talking over me and wouldn't let me talk. And thought what the f***...? I could tell if I kept it up, he'd ask me to leave and wasn't interested in what I was saying, which was annoying. Do you know what it's like to be a woman of a certain age to be lectured and scolded by an arrogant prick half your age for no good reason?? When I first moved to California all of my friends were big pot smokers and always doing it on the DL outside venues or smoking on the chair lifts at ski resorts and quickly hiding it before off loading, etc and 20 years later, we have a cannabis store that resembles an Apple Store and runs with the same level of customer service and efficiency. Let me start off by saying that I am not a regular marijuana consumer nor do I recall ever going into a weed dispensary before coming to MedMen DTLA, so please take this review with a grain of salt. That being said, this place really has its shit together. We've been here a couple of times during COVID-19 and, from our numerous phone calls made to various dispensaries in the area, they have the strictest safety protocols for this pandemic. They limit the number of customers they have in the store at once with 6ft social distancing line-markings outside while you wait in line. All of the employees are very friendly, knowledgable, and wear matching red MedMen face masks. They also have great THC/CBD gummies, cookies, bath bombs, ointments, vape pens, and indica/sativa flower. In my opinion, they're kind of on the pricier side but I haven't been to any other dispensaries so I have nothing to compare it to. My friend said that their selection of edibles was limited but that their prices were about the same as other dispensaries. All I know is that this place looks like an Apple store. The display cases and the packaging for all the products look super fancy and high quality. It makes you feel bad for throwing any of the containers away after you've used the product. OK, this is like a (weed) toy store for adults. Came here yesterday and brought our dog. He's allowed in, which I thought was cool. We tried him out and tried to get him to sniff the weed. One point he put his paws up on the counter and I was like: "NOO." LOL, he doesn't get to do much stuff like that often. He's an apartment and walk dog. Back to the store now, they have their weed in these containers where you can slide this plastic contraption and smell it and look through magnifiers and stuff. Interesting. They provide a basket much like a grocery store shopping basket for you, but I'm sure if you got anywhere near filling it up, you'd spend like $1000 easily. Was just looking for something with CBD and a tiny bit of THC. Got like 2 cigarette looking things for $15 +tax. So yeah I mean, pretty expensive IMO. Everything is extremely expensive here, I haven't really bought any of this stuff lately, so I'm not sure if prices went up or its just MedMen or its DTLA? Not really sure... Or maybe it's just cheaper in the valley. The place is still cool though. Neat and has a lot of stuff to pick from. They keep a lot of stuff on the shelves, so you can just look and grab whatever you want, which I think is pretty cool. You get a full browsing shopping experience. You can pick things up and look at them, etc. Whereas most places, you gotta talk to someone and they have to grab stuff for you. I think the cheapest eighth I saw there was $45. Most were like $65-$70. Vapes ranged from $30 and the cartridges were like $55. Disposable CBD vapes - $60, ATM inside, if not they only take a card if its DEBIT. They had more employees than customers but even that wasn't enough for a single person to help me while I was there. Finally when someone was going to get off their ass and help me they told me it's too late to buy anything today because it was 10 PM and they shut the system down. This store is DOPE (haha), I'm not gonna front on that. It has amazing products, educational tools and top-notch marketing, and very helpful staff. What I don't like however is the payment process and insane taxes - hence 3 stars. For those excited to be able to use your debit card - DON'T. Just bring cash. First, they round up your total to the nearest dollar and give you real money "change" back. I also just noticed a $2.50 Fee from Chase bank because the way MedMen rings you up as a Non-Chase (in my case) ATM withdrawal.
