I've been to this hospital 2x for scheduled outpatient surgeries and I've had no complaints. The facility is clean, the staff is helpful, and I was treated with care before and after surgery. Luckily I've not had to visit the ER here, which may have yielded a different review. But I also understand ERs have a lot going on, and prolly require a lot of grace. Hoping I don't have to have another surgery, but if I do, I'm just fine having it here. read more

Staff don't wear masks properly! The receptionist had her mask UNDER her nose during the whole check in. The triage nurse had his under his chin and flipped it inside out without even securing it as it should be. I was still in shock from the receptionist being in the medical profession not wearing her mask properly and then the see the triage nurse. If it wasn't an emergency I would not have stayed for any services. These simple tasks and during COVID that practice protection from spreading infection to ones self and others was just unbelievable. I have immunity health problems and my partner does as well. How the hell is one supposed to feel safe when the to of the greatest areas of exposure don't even practice CDC or hospital guidelines. Let alone have a moral compass. I watched as the next shift come in and take ALL THE DIRTY PENS with one hand and no sanitation or gloves and put it in the "sanitized" cup. I'd take pictures but it's against the privacy because this stuff was just so unreal! I didn't see any sanitization during my 2hrs in the waiting area. People sat and left and sat all with symptoms of fever, colds, possible exposure and pains. Some even laid down on the chairs with the shoes that walked all over the ground and not once did anyone ever wipe down or pick up the tissues that were left on the seats. I will say the security guy Mr. Brilliantes was about the only safe person who had his mask on and made sure everyone sanitized their hands. Nurse Loida I believe how you spell her name was outstanding! Professional, understanding, sympathetic and representing what I understand MEDSTAR is. I am thankful for her. If they could tighten up on enforcing COVID-19 practices in the front it would definitely make an impact and reflection for the rest of the ER staff. read more

I figured it would be less of a wait than John's Hopkins, but it was 4.5 hours. I drove in from the Cherry Hill entrance & the ER signage wasn't very clear. So I parked far & entered the wrong part of the hospital. I was instructed to go back outside and around to the ER receptionist. At check in, not only was there non-working staff socializing but only one receptionist attending to guest behind the desk. The receptionist (guy) was nice, but a little flustered and in need of assistance. While most the staff were sweet in demeanor, I felt uncomfortable that I was encouraged to say my ailments loudly to both the receptionist & intake clerk because everyone in the room could hear them too. It wasn't their fault, it's just noisy, but imagine if I were there for something intimate. That lack of privacy feels like a HIPAA Violation. I think this needs to be done in a more private setting out of respect for patients. I could hear other patient ailments, medical history, birthdays, & the company they work for from the waiting room. I waited about 4.5 hours before getting past intake. Then there is only one bathroom stall for each person to use in the wait area so there were lines to produce specimen and use the restroom. Once I got back, I was treated for another couple of hours. I have to say that night nurse K. Paige & Dr. T Katz were exceptional to me. In the 8 hours that I was there, I have to say though, that I only seen one person cleaning outside of the ER rooms. A patient regurgitated in the wait room trash can, another bled on the floors of intake, & none of those were cleaned my entire 4.5 hour wait. I would improve wait times and cleaning overall. Logistics & finesse could be tightened up a bit. But the nurses/doctors are knowledgeable. read more

Many years ago I had both my daughter and son at Harbor Hospital. Their maternity ward is top notch! I ended up working in HR at Harbor years later and to this day I still recommend the maternity floor. It is small but mighty. They have top notch doctors and nurses with the small Community Hospital feel. I left Harbor for a much larger/well known Hospital in the city. I still sing Harbor's praises. read more

Had the worst experience in the ED here. They left me in my soaking wet clothes when I was freezing and hypothermic. Everyone was quite rude and they wouldn't let my brother back to be there with me so we were both terrified. As soon as I was physically able I left as they were not actually doing anything for me despite me asking. I tried calling the next day to speak to someone about the experience and was transferred to 3 different people and ultimately hung up on. read more

While I was in the ER waiting for my mom, a woman came in with a small child (about 6 months old) he had fallen out of his rocker. He was non-responsive and the mother revealed that he had fallen. She was nervous, crying, panicking and very concerned for her baby. The secretary took her information and asked her to have a seat. She then proceeded to sweep the lobby and behave like this wasn't a serious situation. The mother was crying and I consoled her while my hubby asks the secretary can someone help this lady right now. The secretary fusses at my husband.....I won't EVER come back here. Don't bring your dog here. If my mother hadn't already been in the back I would've snatched her out. The lack of compassion and empathy really bothered me. I recognize that "burn out" is real, but I also realize that Karma is REAL. read more

Everyone was so incredibly kind from the patient transporters to ER techs, my nurses, the doctor. Everyone listened to my concerns. I really felt heard. I just gave birth to my first child on June 11th. I was admitted on the 10th because I was getting induced. All my nurses were soooo nice. The doctors were amazing. Even the Anesthesiologist that gave me my epidural was so kind and patient with me because I was in sooo much pain. I was in labor for 24 hours and finally asked for an epidural after the 10th hour. I was ready to pass out!!! I was here from Thursday until Sunday. I wish I remembered everyone's names but a few nurses that I could remember were Morgan, Michelle( both of them), Danielle, Samantha, and JULIA( the nurse that helped deliver my daughter) all amazing ! I'm not sure about other departments but the labor and delivery department definitely gets 5 stars from me and my husband. I don't think I've ever felt so comfortable in a hospital. I wish I knew the ladies name that took my information at the desk because she was great also. My OBGYN was Dr. Hraky and he was great as always. Julia I hope you see this review, you're an amazing nurse and I hope you continue giving other new mothers the same experience you gave me! I know that hospitals are strapped right now, but there have been people sitting in the waiting run for 9 hours. What's worse is noone comes out to communicate to let people have some idea what's happening. Several of us have IVs in our arms, and I think someone should come out and at least give us she info about our bloodwork. I've seen a couple people give up after 8-9 hours, have their IVs taken out and leave. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen if one of these people who leaves gets gravely or worse dies. I had a nice nurse in Triage an an Amazing Nurse's Assistant in Harbor Hospital. There needs to be more diversity amongst the staff and I was not not treated fairly they left me waiting in the ER for a long time before coming to see me. I complain in order to be seen. I feel like I was not treated right because I was black. My nurse went to lunch when I came in an never said anything to me until I complained to the head Nurse. I pressed the button first two times and was blatantly to ignored. Then the third time I had to press the button I was told that there were other people with worst problems than me. If it wasn't for my nice triage nurse and really nice Nurse's Assistant I wanted to get up to leave I was so unhappy and utterly miserable. The sad part I was not the only unhappy one I heard people moaning an yelling for help no one really came for a long time. I got so upset for the lady next to me cuz she needed help to go to the bathroom. No one came to help her they deliberately ignored all of us they don't even give you the buzzer to call anyone. I had to call for help for her. I originally called for an extra blanket etc. I had to harass my poor Nurse's Assistant because I was ignored a lot by my nurse SMH. I heard other Nurse's make up excuses for my Nurse ignoring me. Oh she's very very busy one time I said I can tell she doesn't like me. She dropped stuff gloves etc on top of my belongings. I only came because my doctor's urgent care clinic suggested it. I will never ever come back again on person people are people not monsters to leave screaming in pain. They ran out of toilet paper they acted like they did not want me to be there. I finally said the urgent Care place asked me to come here like this wasn't my first choice. No one cleaned or came to pick up any trash what's so ever. It was very nasty my poor Nurse's Assistance wasn't even treated right saying I am tired of being yelled at. She's better than me I would have quit and complained in fact I hope she finds another job and quits she was completely taken for granted!!!! So I went in for a D&C, which is a fairly standard operation. No matter how I tried, I couldn't get them to put into their medical records that I'm allergic to some antibiotics--one severely. My primary care doctor told them. I believe my ob-gyn's office told them, but Friday afternoon before I was to have surgery, they called me on an old phone number I haven't used for fifteen years (somehow, it still put a notice in my email), and when I called back, they had no record of these allergies. What they wanted (it was a nurse who didn't seem to care about putting in my drug allergies) was $4,000 upfront, or they wouldn't operate. I needed this operation to rule out cancer, so I argued them down to $1,000 upfront. The medical information they had on me was 20 years out-of-date, including illnesses I hadn't had since my 20s. I'm almost 50. Spooked by this horrible record-keeping, I made sure to walk in on the day of my operation with several printed copies of the medicines I was taking and the medicines I was allergic to. I gave these out to several nurses. (It was never clear to me who was a nurse and who was a med-tech. They should introduce themselves better.) On intake, they mentioned that they gave people lavender essential oils as part of pain relief. I told them not to--that I was allergic. Lavender gives me asthma. Remember this.... So I gave out my sheet listing my medications and allergies to several people, but when I got into the operating room, one of the last things I remember the surgeon saying was, "SO, NO ALLERGIES?!" I told him then and then--they were already giving me things through my IV, that I had a severe reaction two two common antibiotics (Clarithromycin and Cirpo) and could not take them. This was after telling seven people that I had these issues. So I woke up in recovery, and there was the nurse, trying to give me lavender. I told her to go away. I was in pain, but only accepted an extra-strength Tylenol because I was afraid that, if I was out-of-it, and they screwed up and tried to give me something that would make me sick, I wouldn't be able to stop them. Harbor Hospital is not a safe place to go because they can't get basic info about your drug allergies into their system. Getting money out of you is more important than taking care of you. read more

Worse emergency department EVER! Rushed me out the door and discharged me at 2pm without even giving me a proper evaluation or testing needed. Told me I was 1 point away from needing a blood transfusion then sent me out the door. Dr. Miller had the worst attitude and was so rude when I voiced my concerns! So, I asked for the CSR and he was even worse then the doctor telling me he was going to call security if I didn't leave. They discharged me while not being able to walk, in ridiculous amount of pain and with no help at all. Sorry excuse of a medical center!! read more

I was transported here after my car flipped over last Valentines Day. Probably the worst hospital I have been to. The first nurse who asked me questions was sweet, after that it was all downhill. Too many different people came to speak to me without even giving any information as to what was happening next. Each time "I don't know, I'm just here to do....." gee thanks. Even the doctor, Elvis or Elfie, I don't remember that fools name, but even him. Just lax and moving like stale molasses. He told one of the nurses to wrap my hand up. He didn't do it correctly, so instead of just fixing it himself, he told him how to do it, like really? Just do it yourself since the nurse didn't even know what he was to be doing because why??? no communication. By the way that nurse? Cleaned up my hand with no care. He rubbed my raw wound like he was brushing his teeth. "I have to get the dirt out" what? Then the ointment he used squirted all on me. "Oh did I get you?" Terrible crew. Also the nurses are talking to each other without their masks on, hmmmm. Pretty sure this is the last place you want to do that ma'am. Finally I'm released from the care of this assembly line of idiots, need to make a phone call. I was told to press 9 then dial. I tried three times, it wouldn't work. The man at the desk is watching me the whole time. No offer to try. Fine thanks, I'll just stand outside at 4 in the morning and hope my ride shows up. I almost forgot, one of the nurses who spoke with me was handling another person next to me. He was clearly under the influence of something. I guess that made him less human, she was talking to him like he was scum of the earth. Nice job. Her and other nurses were laughing at a disgruntled irate patient when he had outbursts. I'm sorry is that funny? These people are terrible. I hope I never have to come back here. read more

I've had three of my children born here at this hospital. The staff here were so wonderful and made sure that my wife was comfortable before delivery. My wife and I currently go to this hospital to see our wonderful doctor Luciana Veiga, MD. She's really amazing. Went into their sports medicine area across the street from the actual hospital to have my foot examined after I injured it running the Baltimore half marathon this year. Sidenote: I completed the race just over 2 hours but not a good idea to just roll out of bed and run 13.1 miles after having never trained for it. They were all great and friendly, everyone from the receptionist, the physical therapist, to the orthopedic doctor. Plenty of free parking on the premises, too. read more

I would give this a 0 star but it was not available, so my 11 month year old was not eating because of teething issues but I was concerned because the amount of time she went by with her refusing to eat. I decided to call the pediatrician on call, a doctor with a heavy accent picked up. I told him what the problem was and he told me I need to bring my baby in. Long story short, I went to the ER. The process was slow, registering was slow, getting called just for her vitals was slow. Also, disgusting patients with no mask on with my 11 month year old there made me cringe. I complained to desk person she replied "What you want me to do?" I told them. At this point I'm furious, it's now after 1 a.m. in the morning with my 11 what year old she is tired and fussy and still haven't been seen by a Doctor. I left, thank God she finally ate, As a parent, that was a horrible experience. Don't recommend the ER department, very rude, slow and unprofessional!!! read more

I came here July12,2019 @6:30am for an induction at 39w&1d. As soon as I arrived I filled out paperwork and then my nurse came and took me to my room. The wait wasn't long at all. As soon as i got to my room I had to change and answer questions that my nurse asked. My nurse was very nice and patient with me. After all of the questions she started to draw blood and started my IV. I gave her my birth plan we went over it and she gave it to the doctor/& the other nurses that would be helping out with my labor. The doctor finally came in and checked to see if I was dilated and how many centimeters which I felt very uncomfortable with just the way he checked me but I wont add why because its a little TMI. anyways the doctor told me they have to start me on pitocin to get things started and I was ok with that. Finally my OB doctor arrived checked me again hours later and nothing changed. So my nurse turned up the pitocin every half an hour i believe to make things go a little faster since I have changed and I been here about 8 hours in. So in my birth plan I know somethings I asked for couldn't been done because when I originally made my birth plan it wasn't intended for this hospital but I knew that somethings had to change and I was ok with it. What I didnt know was that once the pitocin started I couldn't eat or really drink anything but water and ice and I was not ok with that since I was there since 6:30am and its now 12 hours in. I wish someone told me before the pitocin started so I could prepared more better. So a few hours past and the other doctor came in to check me once again which i was uncomfortable with again and told me nothing changed again so the nurse had to come in sooner to keep turning the pitocin up more. My doctor came in probably 2 hours after that to check me I made a little progress so he decided to break my water (WHICH I CLEARLY PUT IN MY BIRTHING PLAN THAT I WANT MY WATER TO BREAK NATURALLY) but if I was asked if it was ok to break it and the benefit of it making my labor go a bit faster I wouldn't mind but I just felt kinda of not in control because majority of what I WANTED wasnt being respected and I wanted this pregnancy/labor to go as I wanted since this will be most likely my last child. anyways I got over it and was just happy that i finally started dilating and my baby will be here soon. Around this time I decided to get an epidural because as soon as my water broke I started to feel the contractions a lot more. The anesthesiologists came in the room to give me the epidural and it sucks that your husband cant stay in the room to comfort you but that wasnt the worst part the anesthesiologist I had sucked he not only stuck me about 2-3 times but the epidural only worked for my contractions I literally felt everything when it was time to push but let me get there. So after the epidural kicked in I fell asleep until 4:55am because I felt so much pressure like I got to poop and I told the nurse that and she said oh well maybe its cause the baby is getting lower and I was like no I have to push I had a baby before so I know how it feels she was like ok im sure its cause the baby is getting lower but I will get the doctor, sure enough when my doctor came in and checked me I was fully dilated and ready to push. So its time for me to deliver my baby and sure enough again nobody respected my birth plan which upsets me this time because I wanted a mirror to watch my birth, I asked for warm compress while I push so I wont tear and guess what???? I tore and the most important thing I asked was to wait til the placenta stop pulsing to clamp it and none of that was done, they only waited about 1 min to clamp the placenta and thats not WHAT I WANTED. other than that the visit was ok my nurses was so wonderful well a few of them was i only remember 2 of their names Flo & Erin I believe. They was such sweethearts. The food was TRASH and disgusting. The pain medication thats given is ridiculous, I tell the nurse im in pain and all they bring is motrin?!?! Like I just had a baby not a HEADACHE!!! Then the bed my husband had to sleep on was broken and he hurt his knee on it because as soon as he laid on it,it collapsed. We asked the nurse I had to ask someone to get another one and can they check on the one we had she had an attitude & no one ever came to check on it for us so im sure she never asked about it. So my overall experience sucked, my husband ended up hurt, my birth plan wasnt respected, the food nasty, some of the nurses wasn't pleasant, and I dnt like this hospital at all if it wasnt for the few nice and patient nurses we had our experience would of been even worst but Thank God for them. read more

If I could give no stars I would. My daughter gave birth there almost 2 years ago and the maternity ward is amazing. This is about the ER! I took my daughter there the other day with concerns that she was having a serious pregnancy emergency. We checked in and I told them what I thought was wrong. Any hospital would have taken her straight back but did they?? No. We sat for almost an hour before being triaged. Once we were triaged we went back to the waiting area. Another hour passes and I go to the desk and tell them my daughter needs help asap. The receptionist tells me that the triage nurse felt my daughter was stable and didn't need any urgency. I told her I didn't care what she thought we need to be seen. Another hour goes by and I go back to the desk to find out what was going on this time the receptionist had switched shifts. I ask the nurse for help she gets up open the door to the ER and says "I'm going to run away from this f**king place" to which I replied ME TOO!!! Finally after 4 hours they came to get my daughter to do an Ultrasound. She saw the doctor for 5 mins and they released her. We were there for 6 damn hours!! Not only that in the back in the ER they had patients just laying on gurneys all in the hallways. It was horrible. Stay far away unless you enjoy sitting for hours to be dismissed after 5 mins. read more

The 4 stars are for my pcp and ER staff + front desk staff. My primary care nurse practitioner is decent here. I have had no problems with her in any way. I've also been to the ER here maybe 3X and ER staff was alright; friendly, professional, & caring even while being majorly stressed out. I began seeing a female cardiologist here and initially she was great (or so I thought). Until recently when I came in for an appointment with serious concerns about HORRIBLE side effects from the high blood pressure meds she prescribed for me in January. She was dismissive of what I was telling her about some very bad side effects from these meds and seemed oblivious to the fact that my cholesterol & blood sugars did not go up until she prescribed these 2 meds in particular which I asked to be switched off. Seemed irritated. Told me "Well side effects are something we have to deal with." And I told her: "NOT WHEN IT IS AFFECTING ONE'S QUALITY OF LIFE." Suffice it to say I will not be going back to this provider. She caused me more Anxiety than I already deal with and made it seem as though I was just a whiner and that the side effects I mentioned weren't caused by these meds when the side effects DID NOT START until AFTER I STARTED TAKING THEM! But then again, HOW SHOULD I KNOW?...I'M JUST THE PATIENT TAKING THIS POISON. She also made me feel like I'M to blame for my blood pressure issues when I've been doing just about everything I can even REMAINED on these meds feeling like sh*T! And I am not talking about minor effects. If you go online or ask anybody taking high blood pressure meds particularly Carvedilol, Hydralazine, Nifedipine, chlorthalidone, etc. MOST are reporting bad side effects. I can deal with side effects and I have BUT not horrible rashes, unrelenting itch, terrible swelling, and DEBILITATING MUSCLE CRAMPS. They want us to EXERCISE & WORK BUT IF MEDS ARE AFFECTING YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE HOW???!!! Also maybe this cardiologist was also having a bad day because her phone kept ringing for the duration of our appointment and she had to keep saying, "I'm still with a patient;" she seemed not herself and not in the best of moods. You don't have to be nice or sweet just LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS AND DO NOT DISMISS THEM AND MAKE THEM FEEL BAD. read more

**Emergency Department during day** On several occasions due to my case management freelance position I have accompanied clients to this hospital. Unlike myself, most of them are African American. It's interesting in that this hospital was the closet to the families on 4 recent occasions and all but 1 asked to go someplace else. I finally asked one client since this occurred with us twice in 5 years and her answer really surprised me. She stated Medstar ER at Harbor Hospital is racist during the day in ER. She complained that no African American RN is ever seen to exist during the day times she's been there, the security guards are "redneck racist" and even the security guards that are Afro American seemed in a trance of control to just follow their orders for job security to an embarrassing end. When probed more, the bottom line for her is that all the RNs providing care besides being white are always young never 40 or over. She stated it irritates her because it's a difference in how she is treated esp when an RN is Black and closer to her age in the whole "experience" of patient care. I admit I was surprised anyone would care and said as much. To which she responded that being white and young I probably take it for granted that being able to identify to the nurse (she made it clear RN not Tech) assigned to me is usually never something I'm ever not exposed to...and as such it would be taken for granted. Wow! As a Caucasian in healthcare I never noticed how racism in hiring practices in a unit would affect an intelligent patients "experience" and just as my client takes this ER "experience" from Harbor Hospital with her when she is a customer elsewhere at the same facility she also rates Harbor negatively. After that I asked the other 4 families and 3/4 stated yes they felt the EXACT same way. I researched and discovered that that President is an Afro American man. I shared this. Curious as to how they would respond, all but one assumed it was "just for show" or he was not about change in terms of racism less it would not be allowed. Thus...none were impressed. So, for the fact alone that my intelligent day clients steer me away from the closest hospital on several occasions now due to this reality at Harbor Hospital Day to be seen at Hopkins or some other place...I'm rating the ER Harbor a 1 star. But I suspect this is actually standard for some Medstar only because I and another client involved in a documentary on race in hospital nursing had same concern at Good Sam ED but we were not certain. I will begin research on this subject again but call it bias, yes I'm pissed in that I had to accompany them to Hopkins thru a drive out of the way from next client due to this. So my 1 star stays. But I appreciated the water view . read more

(This is the opposite of Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD- which is where they grow evil and incompetence). The hospital is very nice and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, the view of the harbor is beautiful. I had my daughter here, and I have been a surgical patient as well as a medical patient and I have always had a great experience. Worst hospital ever. My husband had his appendix out there in 2009 and the Dr stuck him on the cardiac floor which was not needed and completely forgot he was there. Then the two most recent trips 10/30/15 and 11/13/15, he saw the same er Dr and she is so rude, mean, cold and uncaring. When he went for a ct scan on 11/13/15 the tech was talking to other people rather than bring my husband back to his room. Sorriest example of a hospital I've ever been to. The nurse was terrible put the IV in wrong my hand swelled up because of it then I had to wait forever to get a doctor to look at it because I couldn't trust the nurse to make any kind of decision this is after I had to come back I left with his big bandage on my hand before I realize it was swelling like a golf ball underneath I would suggest that dying would be better than going to this Hospital in this terrible I wish I knew the exact names of the nurses but I can tell you that it happened on April 9th 2019 in the morning approximately 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. so whoever was on duty at that time needs another job like at McDonald's and even if you belong McDonald's do a better job than these people do here read more

This hospital is hit or miss. When I came it was a miss I came in with bad stomach pains , diarrhea and vomiting the front desk lady was so rude to me because I said I wasn't able to fill out the form most hospital s ask you instead of you writing it. The triage RN saw me quickly she was nice the receptionist kept rolling her eyes at me rudely saying she will bill me. O ignore her because I was in pain I get called back in a hour and the RN was so rude ,nasty and made me feel uncomfortable he going to ask me stupid questions like was I smoking weed (marijuana). Because people been coming in smoking bad weed I said no. He walks out the doctor that came in was nice and order to give me morphine and some meds to ease up the diarrhea. The rude RN comes in and shoots it through my iv and say this will make you a little high for a minute I was scared because I've never took stuff like that I was in a panic he just sits there and looks at me trying not to laugh. Then gives me the pills and walks out. The comes in in a few hours to discharge me. Send my perceptions to the wrong place. The treatment I received here was so unacceptable. I won't be returning do yourself a favor and go downtown or drive to Glen Burnie for better care. read more

suppose to have an induction since yesterday but unfortunately i didnt because they told me their isnt no more rooms after having me wait over 2 hours then sent me home, someone called me again this morning asking me to come in for the induction. been waiting again over 2 hours just to be told i have a room but their isnt a nurse for me like what was the point of calling me again wasting my damn time just to have me wait over 2 hours!!!! no one came to update me or nothing yet!! Update: other than that LONGGGGGG wait, everyone and everything was PERFECT!!! The staff is very nice even the nutrition was VERY VERY nice. I love my stay there!! Some of the staff treat patients like you can go somewhere else if you don't like being talked to like you're a piece of crap. RN's with horrible dispositions. A doctor even tried to excuse the behavior by saying the patient/nurse ratio was 6-1, but it's supposed to be 4-1, and some of the staff members are stressed. I don't understand how rudeness is acceptable from hospital staff, but not a patient that's expecting to be treated with respect. read more

2014, August, 9PM. Literally vomiting all over the floor in the waiting room, so I was handed a bedpan and told to do my business in there. With the blinding headache I had, and fluids and excrement being expelled with great force, I was less than thrilled. While I understand that the ER has other priorities, I would think that getting the walking time bomb of poop and spew out of the waiting room would take precedent over the addict mother and her boyfriend obviously using their child's mild cough as an excuse to score some pills. Nope, they were top priority. The utter indifference on the part of the admitting staff was mind blowing. But, bodies are bodies, and they do occupy space. Finally admitted, got a room, and the doctor's shock that I wasn't back there earlier was really enough to make me regret ever going to this ER in the first place. It took me eleven hours to have someone stick me for some blood, give me some fluids via IV, and tell me "hey hello great guess what, you've got a virus, have a good day". An additional two hours to be discharged. Do not go here. Just don't do it. Save yourself and head a little farther north to UM - even if there's not much wrong with you, at least their staff is kind, and their service is speedy. read more

I recently went to the er for abdominal pain with back pain shooting down my thigh. I was seen right away and was taken into a room where as soon as I got into my gown the dr came in. He checked out my pain and told me to pee in the cup and that I would get an ultrasound. After I went to the bathroom my nurse (who was very nice) came in to try to tell me not to pee yet since I was getting an ultrasound done. I went for my ultrasound and when I got back the dr came in about 30 minutes later to say everything was normal and he did want me to get a CT scan and bloodwork. My CT scan was done and I came back and about 20-30 minutes later the dr came back to tell me my results. It was what I thought it to be a cyst on my ovary. Forgot to mention earlier he ordered pain medicine for me which I didn't ask for (it very much helped my pain though) but when I ask for some to go home with since it did help me, he told me he doesn't prescribe any pain meds. He then told me that he doesn't even know if the pain I was having was because of the cyst. That's the reason why I went there. I understand that there is an opioid epidemic but I had a real reason as to why I was in so much pain plus the CT scan results had found other issues with me. The staff was very friendly but the dr sucked. How do you give a patient medicine without asking for it but when they ask for it you won't give them any? He also told me to ask my GYN dr for a prescription for pain medicine. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to this hospital and it is closer to where I live. I was there from 8:40 am to 2 pm and to come home basically the same as when I left to go there. read more

My sister was a patient there, and she left sicker than she went. The staff seemed demoralized, and overwhelmed. My sister could not understand her doctor. They had no interest in helping her to get better. Her room had a great view of the water, but the room itself was filthy. There were so many different people that came in and out of the room, not sure who they were. Overall lack of communication. Doctors, nurses, techs, observation students? None of them knew what the others were doing. My family is adamant that none of us will return to this hospital, especially when we live so close to great hospitals. read more

The worst service I've ever experienced. You're always have to wait minimum 1 hour even though you're on time for your appointment. All of the employees and doctors are extremely rude and they don't care. And nobody care about your problems. I'm so disappointed with the Woman's health care as well. read more

This place is a dump. The hospital is dirty. The staff is nice, but act like they have been beaten down. Being on the water is nice, but I couldn't focus on the scenery when I was fearing for my life. read more
